Don't worry Fettle - I read your post avidly! I am in a similar huff with DP as he has been away all weekend (back to his home town - 2 x 40th birthday parties which I couldn't be arsed to attend!) Then he comes home at lunchtime (via Bristol airport to pick up some friends of his who are staying in our town for 2 months), expects me to sort out lunch for 5 adults and 3 kids, and then when they all disappear to get over their jetlag - he disappears for a nap too!!! (hungover of course) leaving me and DD hanging out alone again for the afternoon. Then at 6pm he's all wide awake and wants to go to the beach for an hour and I'm shattered and just want to get DD to bed as she is knackered and has preschool in the morning. So i get the "you're so boring" look and "but I want to spend some time with my daughter". Sorry, now I'm venting and ranting! Anyway, I did point all this out to him, so I think he realises he's being a bit of a twonk, but has gone to the beach with his friends anyway, leaving me to put DD to bed

Blokes eh? Sorry to hear your DH's team lost though, now you'll have to be all sympathetic and have a grumpy DH to deal with!

Wish you hadn't mentioned G&T on your last post. It's all I can think about now.... !

seaside72 · 20/05/2007 19:35

sorry you felt like a grumpy pregnant lady fettle - glad your DH will now be home soon though and you can have a nice evening I think out of the whole week Sunday evenings are always a time of heightened emotions {{big hugs}}

seaside72 · 20/05/2007 19:44

x-posts Bodkin - seems the Sunday factor strikes again

(loving "twonk" BTW!!! [grin})

seaside72 · 20/05/2007 19:45

oops of course I meant -

fettleandminifettle · 20/05/2007 19:53

Sorry to hear you having similar DH issues, Bodkin!! I'm sure they don't mean to be selfish - think they just don't think like 3 year olds!!!

Have to say I'm resorting to a glass of wine now - had to open the bottle to cook supper [DH had better be hungry or his life won't worth living!!!]. My neighbour who was playing with DH came home 35 mins ago - still no sign of DH [GRR!!!]

Seaside - it is great news about Iwillbe - hope she does pop over and join us - I did invite her over!!

You are also right about sunday evenings, I always hate sunday evenings with work in the morning and could do with a relaxing evening, so always feel more lonely now if DH is away!!

thanks ladies - I can always count on you to cheer me up!

xxx

ps he's just rung - on his way home! Implant smile on my face!!!!

fettleandminifettle · 20/05/2007 20:14

ok - really pissed off now - he's home. went straight for a shower and is now - wait for it - watching highlights of the test match he'd recorded!!!

Please tell me to keep calm - wine - off to drink my wine!!!

He did ask for my permission first, but could I really say no, there isn't anything else I want to watch!

iwillbepgbydec2007 · 20/05/2007 22:10

oooo nice what did you have? i just cooked us a yummy chicken roast minus the big bottle of chilled white wine i bought i opted for schloer instead!

i am only cd27 today so hopefully they will die down soon. glad to hear your cramps have subsided now - its so worrying isnt it!!

we are only a week apart and having our first how great is that! we can compare bumps and symptoms lol and so can mrsmc!

i hope we get the other temping buds join us v.soon!!

iwillbepgbydec2007 · 20/05/2007 22:14

sorry about my random post i was carrying on a conversation with seaside but didnt want to bombard the temping thread with mental just found out im pregnant ness.

so here i am

i got my bfp today i dont even know what made me test! i woke up this morning and did a cheapo ebay stick and got a v v v faint positive and thenlater on this afternoon i brought a cb and it cam up pregnant straight away!!
i am feeling very scared but also relieved that i managed to conceive as i had my doubts after m/c and infection. had just started going for tests (ringing up for results of cd21 tomorrow)

i used to be called desperate2bmum if any of you remember me?

im so thrilled to be on here with you all atlast!!

iwillbepgbydec2007 · 20/05/2007 22:18

seaside - dont be embarassed about tests and then getting a bfp im sure your doc will be chuffed about less paperwork! when are yougoing to book your appointment for? im hoping for sometime this week. i want to get in the system straight away. my friend is 14 weeks and she hasnt even had a date through yet for her 12 week scan - apparently our hospital is over run with pg women and there is a waiting list for a scan!!

i wonder if my cd21 blood test showed i was pg?

does anyone know where i stand on choosing my hospital or do i have to go to the nearest one in my catchment area?

seaside72 · 20/05/2007 22:42

Hey Iwillbe I am here too now - I am sure the graduates wil forgive our ramblings!! (DH made spag bol for dinner - I'm really feeling very conscious of trying to eat good balanced meal and stay off the junk- feeling all reponsible etc)

I am going to try and get a same day apointment tomorrow with GP - I know the health service and maternal care in my area is pretty basic - only one hospital within 70 miles with a maternity unit so no choice there - and that one is not great (apparently it was just featured on the panorama midwife pogramme - not favourably - glad I did not watch it now!)

CD21 blood test will show progesterone level - could well be higher than the average - you and I have simlar short cycles - 25/26 days - did you actually go on your CD21 or a bit earlier?

iwillbepgbydec2007 · 20/05/2007 22:48

yes i am totally the same! i had a chocolate sponge pudding and extra thick double cream that needed eating up so im having my bad day today but as of tomorrow its healthy all the way!

i know iwont get same day appointment with mine - she is a very good and popular doctor so it will probably be early next week knowing my luck. hope you get yours tomorrow!

i wouldnt scare yourself with "reputations" all peoples experiences are different. our hospital is the same here i have heard some frightening stories and i had a few bad experiences with my mc regarding treatment but my friend had her baby there last september and said they were fantastic so i guess it swings both ways!

i had blood test on exactly cd21 did you?

seaside72 · 20/05/2007 22:52

I had my first one in Feb on CD21 and prog level was 50 - which is fine I think but then had second test in April (last cycle) and went on CD20 and prog was 68 so quite a bit higher. But Cd20 was 7dpo as I ov usually around CD13 and cycle was 26 days . I am sure your prog should be pretty high if test was only a week ago - will be interesting to see the result

iwillbepgbydec2007 · 20/05/2007 22:58

yeah i do think that that is what got memy bfp - a trip to the doctors and the feeling of somthing being done.

dp told me a week ago i was pregnant ??

anyway i am off to bed now! will chat to you and all the others i hope tomorrow. nighty night and hope all goes well tomorrow x

Bodkin · 20/05/2007 23:25

Hello Iwillbe! I remember you as D2Bmum although that might have been from my lurking days! Many many congrats - clearly the positive thinking (name change) has worked! Oooh it's so exciting having all these newly preggers people on here!

Fettle - hope the wine did the trick. I'm not a big fan of Sundays generally either.

KitKat30 · 21/05/2007 08:31

Oooh I love this thread... Thanks for all the views about only children girls - real food for thought. I think maybe I should concentrate on popping this little fella out first before thinking that far ahead!!

Greedy - dont worry about the arm grabbing, as everyone on here has said, it's easily done and it certainly doesnt mean you're like Stella from Eastenders!!!

Congrats Iwillbepg! - I remember you from the old TTC thread.

PinkB - hope you're OK hon. Pop on MN when you get a chance and let us know you're alright. x

I think this weekend must have been a weekend of rows with DHs! I too had one...not about anything in particular, he was just being so mean and grumpy for no reason...I know he's stressed at work etc, but I do feel sometimes that he takes his bad moods out on me . Anyway, I just lost it, couldn't stop crying and bawling etc. Slight overreaction on my part admittedly, but he was still being a knob... he apologised anyway. All OK now...

Got a midwife appt this afternoon (26wks) - what does a full ante-natal examination entail? Is she going to look at my lady bits?!? If she is, I need to be mentally prepared...does anyone know????

Morning and hellooo to everyone by the way!!! I havent forgotten you....

OP posts:
honeyapple · 21/05/2007 08:35

Morning!

DP/DH- sorry to hear some are being irritating- mine is pretty annoying most of the time!! (grin)

Weekends are special- I always want to do something/ go somewhere as a family. We are pretty good and do always have a trip. Joined the National trust last year which is good if you are stuck for somewhere to go.
The other day my DP said to me,
" I hope you dont think I'm going to help out more with the kids when you have number 3..."

Got stressed yesterday as had spent 2 hours doing a Sunday Roast- (he was in his office)-asked the kids to tidy the kitchen table etc... they started having a spat... he roared out of the office and sent them to their bedroom... while I was trying to dish up. Had a bit of a cry over my gravy...

HELLO and congratulations to Iwillbe! You'll have to change your name! IAMPGBYDEC!!

honeyapple · 21/05/2007 08:39

Hi kitkat- I dont recall any MW looking at my ladybits until I was atcually in labour...
I think they just have a feel of your tummy/ possibly weigh you/ take bloods maybe?

KitKat30 · 21/05/2007 08:53

Ooooh really? I hope so... I know it's silly being squeamish about people looking at your lady garden when pg, but if I can put it off for as long as possible that's fine by me!!

Was just alarmed by the "Full antenatal examination" listing in my yellow maternity book thing...

BabyMadwithBump · 21/05/2007 10:17

Hi ladies!
How are we all?
Any body had/getting "Braxton Hicks contractions"? I had loads at weekend!
Babymadxx

Chooster · 21/05/2007 10:35

Hi all, your lady garden should be safe Kitkat - I dont think they need to look thre unless there is a specific problem. Good luck!! Hope all is well.

Oooh, great to see new people! I also remember you Iwillbe, but as desperate2bmum. Its so good to have you over here. It must be great for the other ttc'ers so see some real success stories recently. There was a bit of a lull wasn't there for a while?

Greedy - am a bit late in replying but I've done something similar with DS re: arm grabbing. Its usually when he is in the middle of a tantrum at the shops or something. I know it doesn't help the situation and it makes me feel awful but its just heat of the moment stuff. I care a lot less now about what people think so am happy to stand there and let DS get it out his system

Sorry to say this girls but its good to hear you've all got annoying DH's too! It was my DS's 3rd birthday on saturday so we had a kids party on the saturday morning and a family thing yesterday (I think I was more stressed about the family one ). Both went really really well, but on Sunday morning DH goes off on one because I'd set thigs up for everyone to eat inside and he 'thought' everyone should eat outside, but didn't actually do the crucial part of telling me what he was thinking. Its all sounds so stupid now, but DH has such an annoying habit of thinking I can read his mind, and then when I dont, he has a major huff . Anyway things got sorted and it worked out well in the end.

We've got loads of left over cake (I got a camper van cake done for DS which he LOVED!!) and I've already had 3 bits in the hour I've been at work (and done no work cos have been catching up on here!). Ooopps, neither is good.

Anyway, better get on... Good luck to MrsMc today too - come let us know how your scan goes this morning.

x

Chooster · 21/05/2007 10:40

Mmm, I dont think I've had them babymad - but then I dont think I had them with DS either even though he was born at 40+5. Maybe I just dont recognise them as BH?

Also, bodders / firststar - how many weeks are you now. I'm not sure if I'm 31 or 32 now. I think 32wks but... I should go and have a look on our antenatal thread really - not been there for a while though

KitKat30 · 21/05/2007 10:48

I know it's been said time and time before... but ... MEN!!! Good to know it isn't just mine...

Feeling reassured that my ladygarden will remain firmly closed!! That sounds weird but you know what I mean....!!

Ta for all the one child only advice Chooster - appreciate it. I guess I'm in two minds because I was never that close to my sister - she was pretty horrible to me when we were growing up (normal sibling stuff), but we've never outgrown that stage... there was a short time when we got on really well as adults, but since I got married she doesn't really want to know and we've never really had a 'good' relationship.

Despite me doting on her kids, she just doesn't seem interested in having a relationship with me. When she was pregnant with her 1st, I sent presents, cards, travelled 100s of miles to visit her etc. But when she found out I was pregnant she wrote a 'congratulations PS' in my birthday card and that was it... hasn't mentioned it since.

Kind of sad really - so for me (and my parents), siblings are a source of unhappiness rather than comfort...

Oh god, listen to me whinge!! Ignore me, it doesn't bother me as much as it sounds! But it is something I think about in terms of my own kids...

Good luck MrsMc thinking of You!

My firend had a baby boy yesterday at 2:20pm a lovely little boy 5lb 9oz, he's lovely, I cant wait for my LO now!

seaside72 · 21/05/2007 11:47

*$@% - just wrote a long post and laptop battery died - pants !!

MrsMcJnr - thinking of you and hoping all goes well with your scan - keep us posted

BabyMad - lovely news about your friend but ouch at Braxton Hicks?

KitKat - glad your ladygarden will go untouched for a while longer . I am pretty squeamish about getting mine examined, poked and prodded by strangers but know it is kind of ineveitable at some point over the next 9 months! - am dreading it

Chooster - camper van cake sounds fab

honeyapple - & at your DH's comment!! here's an ear flick from me for him!!

Might need a bit of advice - I seem to have developed a lovely case of thrush (prob cos was on antibiotics last week) I am trying the messy (TMI!) natural yogurt treatment but just wondered if anyone had any wisdom to share - it seems quite common judging by previous threads but most just say get canestan from docs - would really like to tackle this as naturally as possible esp after antibiotics last week - hate taking extraneous medication esp at the moment? Also do you think it is anything to be worried about so early in pg??

Thanks and hi to everyone else
