Congratulations and huge hugs to the Bodkin family!!! I thought I'd have one last check before bed to see if you'd been on Bod.

Ahhh, how lovely - your birth sounds amazing! 2 paracetamol eh???? You are setting a very high benchmark there for those of us to follow >

Am so excited for you all and bless you lovely DD1. She'll just adore her new sister.

I shall go to bed a very happy girl tonight thanks to your news

LOL Bodkin,

PREDICTIONS

Bodkin on Thu 24-May-07 14:48:35
Bodkin - Hmmm, I'll go for... BOY / 17th JULY/ 7lbs 2oz

BabyMadwithBump on Thu 24-May-07 14:57:52
I've been dreaming of a baby girl, 9lb 2oz, on the 27 July with dark black hair, but I predict a baby boy, 8lb 1oz, also 27 July, with very light hair! We'll see!

Chooster on Thu 24-May-07 15:08:03
Oh, predictions!!!!
For me, I reckon boy (guess that's in the bag), 23rd July, 8lbs 2oz

MrsMcJnr on Thu 24-May-07 15:22:29
I'll be brave and have faith and predict for me:
Boy, 6lbs 10oz, 13/1

KitKat30 on Thu 24-May-07 15:26:29
Ooooh predictions... I reckon for me:
Boy (err that was an easy one)
2nd September
7lbs 12oz

firststar on Thu 24-May-07 15:47:32
Hi ladies
first of all let me get business out of the way....predictions...for me a boy 7lb 2oz (going against all my big baby comments) 22nd July (early I think) , upping the weight prediction of mine to 8lb 6oz.

seaside72 on Thu 24-May-07 16:18:25
predictions - arghh - I have no idea - if we get there I am sure I will be late - 24 January is my prediction
weight ??
sex - would be lying if I did not say girl - but thats more about preconceptions and imagining rather than what I actually feel - Chinese cal says girl but realstically I think prob boy - my DH is convinced it's a boy already!

honeyapple on Fri 25-May-07 08:29:20
I predict to be late... as was VERRY late with DD... also predict baby to be a bit bigger... 7 lb 10 maybe?
How about 31/10/07 7.10 girl
(halloween baby!)

fettleandminifettle on Fri 25-May-07 12:50:17
No predictions about this little one, just everything crossed that I?m 50% lucky and don?t get obstetric cholestasis again, but as DD was 7lb 4.5 oz at 36 weeks, I don?t want to think how big this little one will be
at 42 weeks overdue!!! [OUCH!!!!]

greedy - my prediction for my little one is
girl, 1st Oct, 7lbs 14oz (can i change it? i reckon i will be early now! sept 20th!!!)

Bodkin · 11/07/2007 10:05

Yeah, a bit off on the prediction there!

Thanks for all your messages. Don't know how often I'll get on (as you know I am a secret poster!!!) but once DP is back at work a bit more and DD is back in pre-school, no doubt I'll be around a bit more! will sort out some pics on the profile as soon as I can though.

We are thinking about Isla for a name - any thoughts? Her big sister is Nelly, so thought it kind of goes.

Sending postive birthing vibes to you all xxx

seaside72 · 11/07/2007 10:22

Wow - It tok me hours to try and catch up yesterday and now I have logged on ready to post and Bodkins news has made me forget everything else!!

Huge congratulations to the Bodkin household and well done - OMG 2 paracetemol - I am in awe. A little girl - fantatstic, beautiful, amazing. Pleeeeeease post a pic

I am truly reeling at the miracle that is having babies. I am hoping we all have such wonderful births.

Hope everyone else is doing OK.

Welcome to our new girl clairbear

Well done Babymad with doing the updates - you are very good! I may be able to add to mine now following my scan

MrsMc - So glad all is well and am very of your brown bump!

Pink B - Congratulations too! - so 2 girls so far - the lads must be waiting to make an entrance beginning with Chooster!!

Firststar - all alert and busy late at night - could you be in that energy fuelled phase that people talk about right before birth!???

Iwillbe - well done on the phone post - I have a hard enough time texting on mine let alone posting!! How goes the house purchase? So glad you had a fab 21 birthday! (I know it was a while ago now but I have missed so much!!)

greedy - you do make me laugh - if you are like this with all of us giving birth what will you be like when it is your turn!! (quite soon) IKWYM about still being in disbelief about it actually happening though - Amazing!

KitKat - I think I am glad I missed that programme on monday night - scary stretchmarks - its all too real!

Honeyapple - How cool about the Tour de France! Wasnt Sunday a mad day for British sport - all happening at once. I was over at Wimbledon and the atmosphere was great and so was the weather finally

Fettle - 3rd trimester already! It's going so fast . I hope your week at work is a going OK {{big hugs}}

Conkertree, Mum2Sam and beansprout - Hope you are all doing OK

Sorry if I have missed anyone xxx

MrsMcJnr · 11/07/2007 10:29

Bodders Congratulations hon! I am over the moon for you and your Bodkin family wow ? what a fantastic labour and a good weight oh, I have tears in my eyes at your lovely description of sniffing her peach-fuzz little head! So glad it all went so well thanks so much for sharing with us. Did the potato masher help at all?! Isla?s a lovely name Nelly is too

Hello Iwillbe hope all is well with you

Greedy I have a web cam ? never used it though!

Chooster ? what are the antibiotics for again? If you can?t get internet (and it?s the weekend) ? I?ll come and visit you and help some of the hours pass re MN getting you through - do you think it would help to laugh during labour or not?!

Funny thing happened last night and woke me up ? I felt a kind of shudder or ripple throughout my trunk area ? it was like something out of alien! I know it?s probably far too early to feel the baby (probably wind ) but I thought I?d share just in case!

Fettle oh ? now I understand! can?t believe they said that on TV though! day was ok, ignored the work and spent a lot of time on here ? as usual

Hey Firsty I think you might go before Chooster for some reason (sorry if that?s not what you want to hear Chooster!)

Great updates Babymad Bodders was close with the weight though! I?ve changed my mind about my bean ? think it?s a she

DH and I are thinking of Aaliyah as a name for a girl. I really liked the singer and the name means highest, exalted one in Swahili and Hebrew ? what do you honestly think? All the ladies that is!

Hello Seaside

BabyMadandBIGbump · 11/07/2007 10:50

Is that better MrsMc?

We'll have to do a new tread soon (900+ posts)! who ever does/mskes the new tread could they please put the due date on the very first post as it will make it easier to find them, thank you!

Chooster · 11/07/2007 11:09

Thanks for the updated info Babymad!! Hope you are keeping well.

Hopefully we'll get updates from you Bodders, really can't wait to see her photo - Isla is beautiful, a really lovely name. Let us know if that is the final choice .

I know what you mean MrsMc - I reckon Firsty will go before me too. LO is still really high and hasn't budged down. Guess he could do it at the last minute but I reckon I'll be pregnant for a while yet. I actually dont mind too much... If I can blank out the hip pain, braxton hicks, heart burn and general lack of mobility then I'm quite enjoying the days when I'm on my own. DS in nursery today and DH in Glasgow, so I think a nice leisurely snooze for me

The anti-bio's are for group b strep, and they like to give them at least 4 hours before birth so the advise has been to go straight in once it kicks off.MrsMc - I love Aaliyah - my friends daughter has that name and I think it is so pretty and unusual

Good to hear from you Seaside - Wimbledon must have been fun - and good to go on a nice day

Hi to everyone else

honeyapple · 11/07/2007 11:17

Hurrah!!!! Well done Bodders!

I can only hope and pray I have a labour like yours. You are amazing! 2 paracetamol! Crikey!

And welcome to the world little Isla! (?)

Goodness me, it's all getting a bit real now isnt it!

I had my first pre-natal yoga class last night and it was really good. Did quite a lot of proper yoga stuff rather than just breathing which i was a bit worried about... thought it might be a bit tame and boring. Looking forward to next week. Mind you I am much stiffer than I thought i was... been ages since I have done any proper stretching exercises... hope it helps to pop this LO out.

Re predictions... I know I am having a boy, so I guess I should update the list

Love to all
xxxx

seaside72 · 11/07/2007 11:17

Ohh I nearly forgot I said I would bore you all with the details of our scan -so sorry in advance - please forgive the first timer who has never had that scan before. I had dreamt of that moment they put that gel on my tummy for ages now and had begun to believe it may never happen so it has felt like all my dreams coming true in the last 24 hours.

And to come away with pictures too

Anyway our little bean was a bit unco-operative at first and was asleep facing downwards. So after a bit of jumping up and down and belly bouncing by the sonographer to no avail I was sent off to have a bar of chocolate! A can of coke and a bar of dairy milk later and that did the trick - he had turned around!

All was good - dates are correct, heart is beating, 2 arms , 2 legs etc etc. I could not believe the detail we could see when he was only 6cm long They did all the nuchal tests etc and my downs risk has been placed at 1 in 5777 which is great. So hopefully all is normal and that is the best I can hope for. Long may it continue! The sonographer also said she is 70% sure it is a boy!!! by looking at the pubic bone. Crazy!?

The last few weeks have been mad work wise but he seems to have survived the 12 hour days and stress! It all feels so real now. I was sooo nervous going in but to see that heart beating and him wriggling around - awwwww - I was speechless. We have told people now as well which has been brilliant

I have been so lucky with symptoms - nothing major, just odd days of things - like itchy hands and feet this week?! I had a bit of a scare 2 weeks ago when a friend who we see a lot told us his kids were down with slapped cheek but all seems OK and I did not get any symptoms so hopefully it passed me and bean by.

How are my Jan due date buddies doing? Mrs Mc and Iwillbe?

Apologies again for boring you all with such detail - but I am still in awe Thanks for indulging me!

Chooster · 11/07/2007 11:40

Aw, thats lovely seaside!!! Its great to hear about scans... Even if you had a few before its still always really special to see your LO on the sceeen .

You must feel on cloud 9 now

honeyapple · 11/07/2007 12:26

Congrats Seaside on the lovely scan. It's strange how some sonographers are happy to try and look for sex at 12 week scan and others arent. My SIL was told she was having a girl at her 12 wk scan, something to do with lines on the pubic bone ... but that it was only a calculated guess really at that stage. Congratulations on a boy BTW! Will you be having a 20 wk scan- might want to double check! Was very obvious at my 20 wk scan as LO had HUGE testicles! Well they looked huge on the tv!!

My neighbour's little boy was knocked over by a car right outside our house yesterday evening. I wasnt at home...DP was and apparently it was all pretty awful. Fortunately the car wasnt going fast as our road is only a little cul-de-sac. He was taken to hospital and has a badly broken femur and will probably be in traction for 6-8 wks . Poor thing, but he has certainly learnt a lesson about running into the road without looking. As did my DC who were at home at the time. Scary.

MrsMcJnr · 11/07/2007 13:00

Very organised Babymad ? let?s hope I have on or the other!

Chooster ? enjoy the peace I must look into this strep thing. It might be totally unrelated but I had a strep related virus 3 years ago and I think it would be worth looking into ? better safe than sorry Really ? you know an Aaliyah? the name sites say it isn?t very popular outside afro-American circles.

Hey Honeyapple glad you enjoyed the pre-natal yoga class. I have an ante natal physio class on 20/8 ? it was free so thought I should o along. I have another at 30 weeks. I think the changes in ligaments due to hormones must also make you stiff, I could hardly move after weeding the garden at the weekend! I don?t think I knew you were having a boy ? congratulations! don?t you have one of each at the mo? how awful about your neighbour's little boy ? hope he makes a full recovery

Seaside ? your scan sounded fabulous! And great that you are so low risk! I so hope I see as much tomorrow (apart from the sex ? so don?t want to know!) must be lovely letting people know

Thanks Firsty ? font of lots of useful knowledge as always ? I read somewhere (Emma?s diary I think) that beanie can hear now (or soon) and can see light through my tummy ? that?s kind of freaky! I just want to lie down in a quiet room and see if I can feel that feeling again Aaliyah is pronounced AH-lee-ah ? it can be spelt 13 different ways apparently ? including Aaliya, Alea, Aleah ? it is very rare as a first name and as a surname apparently. Thought it might work well for a bi-lingual child being so phonetic Xavier is still our favourite boy?s name. Re phoning people Firsty ? every time you go anywhere and no one?s home they?ll think you?re at the hospital when in fact you?ll be shopping at Tesco
