Hi there,

Does anyone feel like a chat?

Age: 34
TTC: 11 months
Due: July 2018

I had vivid dreams in the two week wait. Since BFP I've just had mildly sensitive boobs.

My colleague has just announced his wife is pregnant, they've just had their first scan, I can't help but feel he's stolen my thunder a little bit!

@HolyShmoly hi holyshmoly nice to see a familiar name wow your going for your scan so soon that has few in!! Hope all goes well!!

HolyShmoly · 22/11/2017 19:17

Hi LMXO, nice to see you on here too! How are you keeping?

NombieZombie · 22/11/2017 19:29

Is it normal to wait so long until your first midwife appointment? I called yesterday and got an appointment for the 28th of December. I know scans have to happen at certain times so I was expecting to wait for that but just meeting a midwife?

HolyShmoly · 22/11/2017 19:36

I think it depends on your area, but that does seem like a while away. Although apparently they prefer you to be around 8 weeks, so it's not that far away.
It's good that you already have the date for your scan though, I had to go to the GP, then the booking in appointment two weeks later, then she sent off my details for the scan and I got the date another couple of weeks later, and now it's finally scan time on Friday!
I did end up going for a private scan at 7 weeks though which helped with the insane impatience and worry that I wasn't actually pregnant.
I got a deal on the scan through groupon for £50.

NombieZombie · 22/11/2017 19:55

That's quite good actually! That Groupon, what would we do without it? Lol.

LMX0 · 22/11/2017 20:17

@HolyShmoly im great thanks how are you doing? Full of excitement i bet!! Thats a really good deal i was having a look online and the clinic near me is £79 so i might have a look on group on

peachesarenom · 22/11/2017 20:18

Oh no! I've put on 4.5 lbs in the last two weeks! I'm only 6 weeks along!

Very excited though because I just got a letter telling me about my first antenatal appt!

@NombieZombie it wasn't that long for me, it was about 2 weeks, if I couldn't make that appointment though it would've been another two weeks. The appointment was about half an hour as well so not a short one and mine only does the clinic one day a week so that's why hardly any appointments

NombieZombie · 22/11/2017 20:50

@hellybellyjellybean The lady I spoke to on the phone said it would take up to an hour and a half! Shock

hellybellyjellybean · 22/11/2017 20:55

Flipping heck!

hellybellyjellybean · 22/11/2017 20:56

@NombieZombie that probably explains why it is so hard to get in then

LMX0 · 22/11/2017 21:39

Ive heard your first appointment is an hour and a half i know where i am (northern ireland) they do your scan tests and have a chat with just you (your OH isnt allowed present) so could be the same where u are?

hellybellyjellybean · 22/11/2017 21:57

Yeah I was told that I now get a booking in appointment at the hospital and then a scan. I assume the booking in appointment is all the extra stuff, all mine did today was take a medical history and personal details and asked a few questions. Different areas I bet are slightly different! I didn't think they'd give me a choice of hospital, I thought I'd just be told

LMX0 · 22/11/2017 22:19

Yes id imagine every where is different and every hospital may have different ways of doing it as well ive my first doctors appointment on monday 😊

NombieZombie · 22/11/2017 22:34

I'm pretty sure she said he could be there but I might actually phone to confirm. I'd feel bad if he came with me and had to wait outside!

LMX0 · 22/11/2017 23:02

I remember my friend when she went for her 12 week scan & check up (its all done at once here) she said he had to be outside for a small bit of it (its all do with rape/domestic abuse) just to ask you questions like that (just to make sure nothing like that is going on or happened) then after he is aloud in but everywhere is different

NombieZombie · 22/11/2017 23:20

@LMXO That actually makes a lot of sense, thanks for that. :)

LMX0 · 23/11/2017 06:29

@NombieZombie no worries 😊

LMX0 · 23/11/2017 09:19

Anyone any tips on helping/disguising sickness? Thank you 😊

MegEmski · 25/11/2017 07:57

How is everyone doing? Scan Wednesday and desperate for it to be here! Counting down!
Want to be able to tell everyone

MegEmski · 25/11/2017 07:58

@LMX0 nausea or actual vomiting? I've luckily only had nausea. For me it's keeping hydrated, keeping tiredness at bay as much as possible. Ginger biscuits and anything bland and salty. Also McDonalds burgers!

LMX0 · 25/11/2017 09:50

@MegEmski just nausea thankfully i dont get much just comes now and again liking the sound of the mcdonalds burgers!! Lol

LMX0 · 25/11/2017 09:52

@MegEmski I'm not to bad little tired today, altho im having a great nights sleep thankfully ohh but hungry!!! How are you doing? Ohh how exciting i bet you cant wait!!

HolyShmoly · 25/11/2017 13:23

Had our scan yesterday and everything went wonderfully. Spent the afternoon telling our family and close friends ans I was so knackered by the excitement I had a lovely afternoon nap.
Also found out that some of our good friends are waiting on their scan and she's also due in June!
