Hi there,

Does anyone feel like a chat?

Age: 34
TTC: 11 months
Due: July 2018

I had vivid dreams in the two week wait. Since BFP I've just had mildly sensitive boobs.

My colleague has just announced his wife is pregnant, they've just had their first scan, I can't help but feel he's stolen my thunder a little bit!

Also, I just changed my username, I used to be Deborah. Decided real names are not good on mumsnet.

LilyWhit · 20/03/2018 21:17

Oh wow! Same due date!! Do you know what your having?? It’s creaping round so quickly isn’t it!!
Moving is so stressful! We bought our place 3 years ago and did a loft conversion and extension and it was hell but now it’s all done it’s so worth it! Just think of the end result and then it makes the stress worth it! Xx @Lyra2018

LMX0 · 20/03/2018 21:50

Im 23 (24 when baby arrives) and also first grand-baby for both sides!!

Lyra2018 · 21/03/2018 06:37

Hi, it's a girl, hence the username. Shh though, only me and my husband know the gender and name. As a radiographer I was being boring and geeky and said 'it's not a gender scan it's an abnormality scan. It doesn't matter to me me whether it's a boy or a girl.' but actually finding out has really helped me feel more bonded. I had a feeling it was a girl. It may sound crazy and I've only told my husband this but when I was pregnant, before the positive test and on setraline I had a panic attack in Asda. I felt like I retreated to a place inside myself and was a little girl inside me. So, in a way I became my baby. I avoid shopping whenever possible, let my husband do it sometimes just follow him round the supermarket. I have been back to Asda a few times so I didn't build up my anxiety around it. On the medicine I managed to do a successful big shop on my own on Saturday.

Anyway, I'm rambling. The house we are buying is our first house, and it's beautiful, semi allready with a loft room and lots of sunshine and nice views as well as being more convenient to the centre of town than our current place and close to the best primary school in the area. I know I'm lucky because my parents have given me a large deposit so we can afford it, which is uncommon at my age in my area.

Lyra2018 · 22/03/2018 15:31

Hi again everyone. I'm having trouble with anxiety, sleep, psychoactive madication (getting it right) sore hips (can't sit still, either have to be walking or lying or sitting on my excersise ball which is the best buy) and headakes. Going for an eye test now but baby is kicking my bowel unconftably. Hopefully the medication will settle soon.

Brettgirl · 22/03/2018 15:54

Hi everyone, sorry I've been awol but I've been struggling a bit with depression. It's an ongoing chronic condition and not pregnancy related, but I've been finding it hard because I have no bump and until the last few days I'd had no movement. I've had lots of movement now though and had scan yesterday and all is absolutely fine. Baby wouldn't oblige with showing us spine and kidneys properly so need to go back in a fortnight, but it seems that everything is in order, so feeling huge amounts better. Lovely to see everyone's updates xx

Noonaylor · 22/03/2018 16:16

@Lyra2018 oh no! I get sore pelvis and then I can't sit, but it hurts to walk. Bit of a nightmare. Think I need to start doing some exercises to help with the lower back pain.
@brettgirl, sorry to hear you haven't been feeling great, but I'm so glad to hear everything is now looking well for the baby. How far along are you? I haven't felt any movement yet but heart the heart beat at my last midwife appointment so i know things are OK.
I honestly think that pregnancy brings out the worry and anxiety in everyone even if you didnt suffer from it before. I used to be very bad with anxiety so I feel your pain. Thankfully I'm in a much better place but the worry for the baby inside you can push you! I felt rubbish when waiting for my safe test results. I was so scared when I got High risk for DS.
Your small stomach is probably because you have strong stomach muscles or where your uterus is? I feel quite big but tbh it could quite easily be bloating!
We will all get there and we need to try and remember that what will be will be and the best thing we can do is to try and stay as calm as possible (much easier said then done I know!)

Brettgirl · 22/03/2018 16:24

@noonaylor aww thank you! I'm 21 weeks today. The waiting must have been awful. We decided not to have the screening, so just hoping everything is ok.
I have a lot of excess skin following a gastric bypass so I think baby is very well hidden! For that reason the midwife refused to listen for heartbeat, so I went from 12 weeks to yesterday worrying and convincing myself of the worst. How far are you now? Xx

Noonaylor · 22/03/2018 16:36

Oh you poor thing! Yes that's hard. I understand that they do these things so you don't worry but it makes you worry even more!
I'm 18+3. I have my 20 week scan on the 5th of April. I can't wait! Although I'm sure I will get more nervous the closer it gets!
At my 12 week scan I was so happy to see a baby in there! I thought it was all in my head and then the bubble got burst when they said I was high risk. Tbh I would probably not find out next time as it caused alot of stress.
The positive to your shy baby is you get to see them again in 2 weeks!
Xx

Brettgirl · 22/03/2018 17:59

That's the reason why we decided not to find out, we felt we wouldnt do anything regardless of what the screening threw up so decided not to go through that stress, we will just take it as it comes. I am quite lucky because of the bypass I get extra scans anywhere, so we see baby again in two weeks, then at 28, 32 and 36 weeks. Liokjngvat it that way makes it feel like not very long at all! Xx

LMX0 · 22/03/2018 18:28

@Lyra2018 aww welcome to the baby girl club!! You sound really happy with your new home and it sounds perfect 💖 awww you poor thing sorry your having such a rough time atm would a warm bath help?

@Brettgirl poor you!!! Pregnancy deffo brings out the anxiety & worry in us all!!! Ive to go back too as my little lady went from having a right party to being very shy so the heart couldnt get checked but i carry extra weight so the girl had said it can be difficult to check everything but everything looked good im glad everything looks in order your end too 😊

@Noonaylor ohh i bet you cant wait!!! It wont be long flying in!!

Anyone else really looking forward to hearing the start of these summer babies being born?!

Lyra2018 · 22/03/2018 19:43

Ah thanks lmxo. I struggled to relax in baths after having a panic attack in the bath in my first trimester on setraline, esspesally as I dyed my hair then had a warm bath with the fumes did not make me feel good and afterwards realised my relaxation techniques could have caused a miscarriage. On the q medication though I feel much calmer and have enjoyed quite a few baths the past few weeks. Generally though I prefer showers for waking me up in the morning and can't bring myself to wash twice a day, so maybe I'll make baths a weekend treat. Also I don't like washing my hair in the evening as it is thick and straight and takes forever to dry. I had a hair cut on Friday (I don't like having my hair touched but found a good hairdressers I can tolerate and enjoy the wash and head massage). It's shorter and more manageable but also think it makes me look fat and too young so I'll let it grow. Not a problem as it grows so fast it will soon be back to shoulder length. Baths are really good for my legs though as I work in a hospital I know too much about dvts and stroke risk in pregnancy, even though I have no risk factors, whenever I get a calf cramp I immediately think I've got a dvt and panic. I'm lucky and have only had a few leg cramps, just need to get a bit better at relaxing. I'm literally a bubble of anxiety right now but might treat myself to some transision lenses due to my light sensitivity. They are expensive but I reckon worth it.

Lyra2018 · 22/03/2018 19:45

I new house will be nice as this place now has lots of trigger points in, fortunately the bedroom is not one.

Noonaylor · 22/03/2018 20:29

@LMXO such a cute thought! Yes I cantywait to hear about them all being born!
Anyone due in May?? If so not too long now! Grin x

Lyra2018 · 23/03/2018 06:09

We also concidered not finding out as I like surprises and my husband wanted to know. We have decided to keep it a secret but I've started telling strangers, so I'm not sure I won't be able to let something slip out. We keep referring to her as an it at home so we don't accidentally say she or her in company. It's not easy though as finding out the gender actually had a surprisingly positive effect on my mental health and bonding with the baby. I didn't have a preference so didn't think I'd mind.

Lyra2018 · 23/03/2018 06:10

Or just baby as it is not nice.

LMX0 · 23/03/2018 11:26

@Lyra2018 i think alot of parents to be like to find out for that reason as it can help feel more bonded and yes i agree it is awful but so hard to avoid i found!!

Have any of you ladies from youve been pregnant smelt strange smells?! From ive found out for weeks all i could smell was wet dog food (i do have a dog but he only eats dry food) i went away for a while but ive smelt it this morning again........:

Lyra2018 · 23/03/2018 12:29

I found my husbands morning sweat unbareable the other morning, he wanted a cuddle but I had to leave the room. Poor guy... He's very non sweaty and smelly person but he's been a bit ill so he smells bad. Also, I work in a hospital and the smell of elderly people with a urine infections was completely overwhelming. In boots I got a wiff of it collecting a prescription and had to sit down. Also alcohol smells rank, esspesally beer, which is good that I'm not craving it. I'm at home today, getting a call back from the gp later as I'm really headachey. It's not a preclamsia type headache though but it is migrany and felt like my head was going to explode at one point. I'm hoping a relaxing day and I'll feel better after lunch. I felt better after breakfast. Its the psychoactive medication, I really hate it.

LMX0 · 23/03/2018 13:24

Poor u hopefully they give u something i like the smell of beer!! I wouldn't touch it though 🤢

Lyra2018 · 24/03/2018 08:44

Thanks, feel great now I've taken a break from meds last night. Didn't sleep much and feel a bit manic but hey, I'm pregnant, I'm allowed to be manic. I've not got any headakes and actually felt refreshed l. Got a relaxing day out planned with my family, starting with brunch at an American grill. I love pancakes. Then tonight I'll start the meds again, I now have contact with a psychiatrist and good gp so I'm feeling much more confident and supported.

How are everyones nipples? Right one keeps changing and get sore, itchy and leaks depending on my stress levels and is bigger than the other (always has been) also I found an eyelash in the leaky nipple, pulled it out and it was itchy but can they get infected? I've got my 25 week appointment and n Wednesday, just wandering when other people started having had nipple changes.

LMX0 · 24/03/2018 12:12

Ive had nipple changes early on in 1st trim the itch was hell!! But ive noticed this week they seem to be changing again

itallhappensforareason · 24/03/2018 13:28

Glad I've rejoined the convo in the middle of nipple talk 😂 to be honest I wouldn't say mine have changed much at all (I'm 16+2), I've just noticed them being sore although they aren't so sore now. I was myself the other week after getting out the bath and caught a nipple with my thumb nail which HURT!!!!😢😢

itallhappensforareason · 24/03/2018 13:29

That should say *drying myself!!!

LMX0 · 24/03/2018 13:58

@itallhappensforareason Ouchie!! The shower hose keeps catching me and i soon know about it!!

LMX0 · 24/03/2018 22:14

Felt baby kick from the outside for the first time & hubby got to feel it too 💖💖
