Overdue baby

I was due to have my first baby on 1st August. I've tried everything to get baby to arrive (had a sweep on 1st too) apart from sex as OH reckons he will hurt baby (typical man) 🙄

Any other suggestions even just to take my mind off the fact that baby isn't here and I see new babies everywhere I go?

My contractions are now about 10 minutes apart and have been for the last hour. I can deal with them if I'm bouncing on my ball and concentrating on my breathing.

Typical when I told DP to go to work and I'd be fine haha!

How long before everyone's got worse?

When mine were every 10mins for about an hour I went to the hospital. At 2.30am I was 3cm dilated but by 4.30am I was fully dilated! And by 5am she arrived. So it was all very sudden. And to think I thought I'd go into the hospital at 8am the following morning.

Anyway, I know it's hard to estimate these things but my instinct would be to be close to the hospital.

RedPandaMama · 11/08/2017 14:21

Ooh that's exciting Sarah! My DP stayed off work and he really didn't need to, I've been mostly in bed and on the ball and he's been playing computer games Grin, I've been tracking mine pretty religiously:-

1.30am contractions started, around 15 mins apart but irregular, managed to get back to sleep
4.30-6.00: every 11-12 minutes
6.00-11.00: every 10 minutes
11.00-now: every 7-9 minutes

Once it gets to the 5-7 minute range I'm going to ring the hospital and see when they suggest to come in. I feel like I'm coping pretty well! Not in too much pain to be honest Smile

RedPandaMama · 11/08/2017 14:22

Side note: I do live less than ten minutes from the hospital though, I'm also low risk and because they saw me last night I'm trying to put off going for as long as possible! When you feel like you need to go, go Smile

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 11/08/2017 14:46

That definitely makes a difference. I was a high risk pregnancy. And very lucky to be 10mins away too.

Ookmybanana · 11/08/2017 18:14

After a very long labour where I managed to get fully dilated using only gas and air, I had to have an emergency c section due to baby's heart rate dipping during my contractions and gave birth to my baby boy at 12.19 this afternoon.

I'm utterly exhausted but over the moon. 15 days overdue. It well worth it.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 11/08/2017 18:29

Awwwwww brilliant! Congratulations Ook.

Congratulations!! So exciting!

I'm now 17 hours into contractions, still at home as they're not close enough together and bloody knackered, don't know how you all do it!

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 11/08/2017 18:57

SarahS2404 let's hope it's nearly time.
RedPandaMama you've been at it for 17hours! That's bloody amazing too! I hope it's not too long now xx

LucyMay01 · 11/08/2017 19:15

Hello Everyone - so glad that I have finally found a current thread that relates to my due date (2nd August 2017) and not a thread from 2012...

I have been going out of my mind thinking that I am doing something wrong being overdue!

Now 9 days overdue with my first baby and going to be induced tomorrow which I really don't want to happen. Been keeping my fingers crossed that she would appear today and got so hopeful this morning when I woke with severe back pain and tummy tightenings every 10-15 mins. BUT these have subsided and I am still here at home. Been for a long walk, eaten pineapple, sat bouncing on my ball, been on all fours rocking and no joy! I have had a show and an upset tummy, after having a sweep on Wednesday.

Really feeling down! Sad
Congrats to those of you who have become Mummy's (there is hope yet) and sending big hugs to those of you like me who are impatiently waiting x

Ookmybanana · 11/08/2017 19:42

Thanks both Flowers

Hopefully you will both be holding you babies soon

SarahS2404 · 11/08/2017 19:49

What a waste of time they've sent me home 😢

@LucyMay01 hi lovely! I'm the same as you, same due date and was getting super impatient, due to be induced Sunday - I went into labour early this morning and still sitting through it now!
You know you can refuse an induction or ask for it to be moved? They will monitor you a bit more closely but you could always say you want to give it longer before being induced. I'm glad mine was booked for Sunday and not tomorrow as it looks like I'm going to be able to have her 'normally' which I'm so so happy about!

Good luck, keep in touch with us!

RedPandaMama · 11/08/2017 19:50

@SarahS2404 oh no! Tell all, what happened? X

RedPandaMama · 11/08/2017 19:51

Oh also @LucyMay01 I was in the hospital last night as I thought my waters had been leaking. In their words, my waters hadn't gone and I was 'no where near labour and my womb was completely closed, and I'd have to wait it out for my induction'. 6 hours after getting home contractions started and I lost my mucus plug - don't give up hope!

DigitalGhost · 11/08/2017 21:23

Hi everyone long story incoming
Went into early labour at 12 Wednesday night. After 2 days of contractions which included established labour and me being 10cm dilated. I couldn't take more as I have chronic back pain and wasn't risking further damage also I was barely able to keep my eyes open due to a dose of pepadine? so I was taken into theatre, given an epidural and has a forceps assisted birth.
Daughter born at 16.15 and weighed 8.3lb! No bloody wonder I couldn't get her out! Worth it and I just went to say if you feel you can't do it anymore then let it be known! My midwife was amazing but she really really argued with me regarding not being able to push anymore.

Oh and p.s don't drink 3 bottles of lucozade, eat 4 chocolate bars and a McDonald's during labour. It equals 7 bowls of sick and a new record for the hospital.

RedPandaMama · 11/08/2017 21:26

@DigitalGhost glad it all went okay in the end, sounds like quite a stressful time for you though! Have to say I'm quite worried this might happen to me too with the contractions going on for days! Ahhhh

NinaMarieP · 11/08/2017 23:24

Congratulations Digital and Banana.

I'm in awe at how long you two were at it. My labour was only 14 hours and I was exhausted by the end.

mamarach26 · 11/08/2017 23:46

I should have listened to your advice to go to the hospital.. I stayed at home as long as I could. Got to the hospital and I was 9cm and ready to push. Had to have my waters broken, 3 hours later my boy arrived! Congratulations to everyone!! And good luck to everyone else xx

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 12/08/2017 00:45

Awwww, mamarach26 what a little beauty. Congratulations to you.

RedPandaMama · 12/08/2017 00:52

Oh he's gorgeous! Well done Flowers

Update: after 20 hours of contractions just been to the hospital for a check as contractions are 3 mins apart. Still only 2cm dialated so got sent home but these contractions are pretty agonising when they come, probably going to end up back there at 6am or something and will hopefully be in active labour by then.

NinaMarieP · 12/08/2017 02:02

What a cutie, Mama, well done.

That's rubbish, RedPanda, you sound like you're doing brilliantly though. And you know your baby will be here soon!

Can't believe today should have been my induction date and instead I'm up cluster feeding a five (six in 3 hours) day old!

Here he is this morning, towards the end of him sleeping for 5 whole hours!

RedPandaMama · 12/08/2017 02:26

Oh Nina he's so beautiful! I'm so excited to have my little one now. Loving these pictures!

luckkkkkky7 · 12/08/2017 02:59

Aw congrats :) how beautiful
I'm currently on the ward and I've been induced!
So I will be leaving with a baby haha
