Overdue baby

I was due to have my first baby on 1st August. I've tried everything to get baby to arrive (had a sweep on 1st too) apart from sex as OH reckons he will hurt baby (typical man) 🙄

Any other suggestions even just to take my mind off the fact that baby isn't here and I see new babies everywhere I go?

@Nina tbh the forceps were the best part of the whole experience - under an epidural I was oblivious. Stitches. It nice now though... hopefully will heal in a week or so.

Pee number 3 is done now as well Grin looks like I'm getting to go home today! I actually needed to go this time as well which was very exciting. Cue me shuffling the length of the ward as fast as I could manage at 5 am, worried I wouldn't be able to hold it!

I just had gas & air plus a local injection for my forceps Libby, so them going in was pretty awful. Totally worth it though, as he was out so quickly with them.

@NinaMarieP aw ☺️ very happy for you!
@lawralu welcome! I hope your sweep works. Both of mine so far have just made me loose a lot of my mucus plug. I hardly slept last night from being sore & uncomfy so hopefully today something might happen :)

Not sleeping could be a good sign Sarah! I really struggled to sleep on Friday night, couldn't even nap on Saturday afternoon and next thing I was in labour.

@NinaMarieP I hope so! I was going to rely on my cat being clingy but when he's in he's clingy with me anyway haha! He did venture over to the baby bouncer for the first time since it's been in the room (for a month) before so hopefully that's a sign too :)

@mummymattersx I hope so haha! I've had 3 neighbours ask me how I am this morning they said they've been keeping an eye out for us going out/coming home with a baby 😍 they're lovely people where we live I think they're more excited than me now I'm just super fed up 🙈

I hope you don't go over it's driving me mad. As if 9 months isn't long enough. This last week has felt like an eternity 🙁

@SarahS2404 my midwife said she wouldn't be gentle! I do know her though so I think I get slightly different treatment. Induction booked for Friday too! Nice to know there is an end date to all this!

SarahS2404 · 08/08/2017 14:47

@DigitalGhost I suppose if she's brutal then there's more chance of it working! My induction is only booked for Sunday 😫

I think they should offer gas and air for sweeps. But then again I think they should offer it for every procedure under the sun I love it so much!

Sweeps are well worth the pain if they work though.

I'm just waiting on my discharge meds to be explained so I can go home. I have seven different things!

Something really spicy like a jar of jalapeños might get the old digestives going full throttle... kick starting your labour hopefully. Nothing like a good clear out to get things going!!

If you think a sweep is bad.... I'm wincing for you knowing what's coming!!

Report
SarahS2404 · 08/08/2017 16:43

@zofloraaddict they said that your body clearing out (to put it nicely) 😂 is a sign you will be going into labour soon. So called! If that's the case then it should happen for me soon. Obviously eating a jar of jalepenos will have the same effect though.

We have some charming conversations on mumsnet 😂

Yes I believe so, although my first labour wasn't very natural. My waters broke but no contractions so had to be induced, I sugar myself 10 times or so during labour and they think my waters broke due to food poisoning... so it wasn't pretty! I'd have given anything for a good clear put before that labour.... as would the midwife and my poor mother, who had to witness it! Shock

Luckily I avoided the dreaded Sweep (not a stealth boast!).
I'm also a big fan of gas and air! Grin I had to rely on it during this labour. I was having a conversation with the midwives about an epidural because I was 3cm dilated when 20minutes later she was ready to make an appearance Shock. So no epidural!
I'm hoping to be discharged today too. I've got a 3 year old who's desperate to show his baby sister his toys - until the novelty wears off Hmm

That doesn't sound like fun! My partner can't wait to try the gas & air 😂 like he will need to have any anyway!

I'm so bored of waiting for baby now. I've not stopped cleaning all day. I can't decide what to have for tea either 😕
