I thought I would start a new thread because we finally passed the 500 post mark.

This is a pretty quiet thread - I think too many of us have been moving house. Our move is well and truly over (thank heavens) - well at least for the short term, we still have the small matter of emigrating in November with an 8 week old and a 3 year old which should be a barrel of laughs...

Otherwise I am bumbling on nearly 31 weeks and actually feeling ok despite no sleep, spd type pain at night and lots of time at the hospital because DS2 is so big and needs constant monitoring.

How are you all doing - time is flying we'll be doing birth announcements soon...

Dejags, you have my heartfelt sympathy and I was pacing the floors half the night too. Baby keeps getting his/her butt stuck right into my left side under the ribs and I can not get comfortable. Also the BH and the bouts of movemnet.....((((hugs)))

I have had killer backache all day. People keep telling me its a sign, but AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH thats all anyone ever says! So far labour has not happened!.....

Sort of scared/excited/nervous/anxious about going to hospital tommorow. Sick of people telling me you shouldn't be induced, go over a fortnight, its natures way well, I am sorry, but I just can't. Why are people so keen to bash your decisions, and if it wasn't appropriate the Ob would not have agreed it was a good idea. GGRRRRRR

And I need to sort my hormones out. I keep crying, at anything, everything, jees I am a mess.

Hope everyone is fairing well.

Dejags, hope you get some sleep tonight.

Well girls, the stork has visited!!!

Had a beautiful baby boy on Sunday night, after going into hospital at about 2pm in the afternoon. Joel Daniel arrived 12 days early ! And, after all the chat about my bump measuring big and me going to have a HUGE baby, the little charmer weighed in at 6lb 11oz. What a happy girl I am!! Home today, moving house (again) tomorrow!!!

Wishing the rest of you all the very best... off to post on the announcement thread!!

dinny · 01/09/2004 20:15

Congratulations, Ja9!

Sorry to hear others are all feeling sore - I am too. Distracted, I have exactly those pains you describe - stabbing down the cervix/vagina. Started about 36 weeks too (now 39+4). Have read they are cervix opening/ripening. Never got them last time, but only went to just under 36 weeks then so that's probably why. My mw said they could be a hand probing round too. Ouch! Keep making the mistake of sitting cross-legged on floor and then being in agony trying to stand up. Scared how I'll get this baby out - is much bigger (I think) than dd1. Does a bigger baby mean a much harder 2nd stage? Don't reckon I'll avoid tearing this time (I did last time). I'd still like to go another week - just putting it off really.

highlander · 01/09/2004 20:21

wahey ja9 - brilliant news

dinny - you're almost there! It only seems like yesterday when you were celebrating getting to 36wks!

Dejags et al, isn't he back pain just the worse. And the acid reflux all night. I'm absolutely knackered. The next couple of weeks are going to feel like years

dejags · 01/09/2004 20:25

ja9,

I posted on the announcment thread - congrats once again on Joel's early arrival

Highlander, acid reflux is sooooo bad. Keeping milk by my bed helps - a bit. Can't get comfy at all - bump goes all tight when try and move/turn over. Not too long though, everyone xx

highlander · 02/09/2004 00:23

just have to share this with you all. Went to pharmacy to get something for the reflux as ordinary Tums not very effective.

Pharmacist (standing next to me and I was just wearing a t-shirt and a thin hooded top) was advising all sorts of fierce looking medicines. I asked if they were they all suitable in pregnancy and she said 'oh, are you pregnant? I never noticed'

I'm 37 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had to laugh.......

Saddy · 02/09/2004 10:27

highlander - I so know what you mean about the acid reflux. My Ob perscribed Ranetadine and they work a treat, but you can only take one a day and all night last night I was up with it. Dejags, like you moving is soooo uncomfortable and I am on the loo every 45 mins throughout the night.

Going into Royal Surrey hopsital 7pm tonight for pessery that starts off induction in the morning. Just time today to have one last flick of the duster, hoover and prepare dh for a few nights without me. I am a walking zombee though, I needed sleep.

Best of luck to all, and I guess next time I post it will be with baby!

3 days overdue today and thoroughly miserable - they aren't even going to do a sweep until i am 8 days over and then i have to wait a further two to three days for pessary induction and i am SO big and tired!

Meantto be ascorching weekend but i'll either be sweating my arse off in labour or the size of a house at home hating the heat - both not very appealinga nd the only time i have actually dreaded a heatwave!

wilbur · 02/09/2004 11:46

Just wanted to pop in and say good luck to all the mums awaiting September arrivals (and well done ja9!). Thinking of you all and looking forward to seeing the happy announcements.

Podmog, why on earth will they not induce you? I am 39+5 (by hospital dates, 40 +5 by mine) and last week I was in tears with the obs. I am massive and I ache and well, same as you guys really. I broke down and said I couldn't go on, it was a struggle, no sleep etc, and they agreed to induce. I was that sick of going to the hospital x2 x3 a week. Can't you ask for a referal?

((hugs))

Podmog I'm 40 + 3 today and I am dreading being induced and not having an amenity room and they are my main concerns despite this being my first so pain should really be my main concern at the mo!!!

There are only 5 amenity rooms in my hospital and summer babies are oh so popular but what can we do? I REALLY don't wantto be induced - was your experience bad then?? Go on be honest, I can take it!

Hey Gals, know how you all feel, it's good to have somewhere to go and realise your not going insane cos you cry at the drop of a hat, and every day you wake up wishing today will be the day, yet dreading it all the same.....

Someone told me lots of heartburn means a hairy baby, well I'm having a bloody gorilla then

As for sleep deprevation, what really annoys me is when dh ses you slept well last night didn't you!!! No actually, but you obviously did, I'm soooo pleased I didn't wake you on my many trips to the loo (NOT)

Take Care all, and keep ur chins up and ur bumps on the way down

No you haven't - It seems to me everyone is giving or about it to give birth. I have hired my TENS machine (finally)! And I am really really tired - dd decided last night that I needed to practise sleepness nights. So I have wasted today lying on the sofa sleeping and reading and eating (WHY WHY WHY!!!!).
Oh well one more week of work and hopefully labour straight after that!!!

Lolabelle · 03/09/2004 19:34

Thanks for the feedback Podmog and you didn't kill the thread at all in fact I'm grateful for the honesty as i knew i didn't want to be induced anyway and will kick up a big fuss if DH isn't on hand when i need him - God that'd be the worst and i am prepared to be a complete arse if they get funny with me (failing that DH'll get arsey!) - I have had a chilli tonight and went for a massive walk with the dogs last night and so next attempt is nookie but this baby blatently does not want to come out!!

I have issues with privacy anyway and i knew from the moment i saw the amenity room i wanted it regardless of the fact its a glorified cupboard so fingers crossed for both of us...

highlander · 03/09/2004 19:35

podmog - big hugs. DH (who is a doctor) says to refuse to let your hubby go home if you want him there. Apparently they cannot chuck him out if you need his support. If the nurses get arsey he says to ask for the doctor to be paged.

Great news about dejags!

jacksmumto1 · 03/09/2004 20:37

Hi folks!!

Quick message as I will post more soon.... baby boy arrived at 1.37pm on Wednesday weighing 6lb 6oz - still no name as yet!! Will post more when I am able to sit properly... cs wound dragging at the mo but apart from that we are both fine and dandy!!

Congrats Ja9 on your arrival!

cazzybabs · 03/09/2004 20:41
