I thought I would start a new thread because we finally passed the 500 post mark.

This is a pretty quiet thread - I think too many of us have been moving house. Our move is well and truly over (thank heavens) - well at least for the short term, we still have the small matter of emigrating in November with an 8 week old and a 3 year old which should be a barrel of laughs...

Otherwise I am bumbling on nearly 31 weeks and actually feeling ok despite no sleep, spd type pain at night and lots of time at the hospital because DS2 is so big and needs constant monitoring.

How are you all doing - time is flying we'll be doing birth announcements soon...

I am still here - been swimming and feel much better. Still no show nor signs of anything happening. My FIL whose house we live in is coming back this w/e so have decided definatly better if baby waits until he goes - couldn't bear to be in labour with him in the house. BUt then again baby may have other ideas?

Midwife is coming tomorrow to talk sweeps/inductions. Shall let you know what has been decided.

eyelash · 29/09/2004 13:39

Yes - I am still here. Midwife also coming to see me in morning to discuss the way ahead. Part of me so wants to see ds3 now but as ds1 and 2 were so late I wonder if we should leave well alone for at least another week.

Distracted - glad monitering went well in the end.

Cazzybabs - are you going for a homebirth?

I am one of eight but dh and I have decided that due to our ages 3 is probably our limit.

cazzybabs · 29/09/2004 14:33

No home birth (dp thinks it will be too messy and besides we have a tiny terraced house with paper thin walls) - but seem to remember from last time staying at home for ages before finally being "allowed" to go to hospital.

Just popped in from the October thread to say that you are really, really welcome to join some other fellow pineapple munching/curry eating etc etc MNers, if you would like to.

If we don't see you, I hope you have speedy, non-painful, lovely births!

(Hi Eyelash!

Distracted · 30/09/2004 11:34

Thanks Beansprout - might have a look.

Well another day on, still here and sweep tomorrow. Suppose I should get a takeaway curry tonight - have already got some pineapple, but more because I need to eat more fruit (terrible constipation all of a sudden). Must say I'm not at all convinced about pineapple/curry etc. as I consumed loads of it last time and it never had any effect. I'm sure the theory behind it is only something like the fact that it will get your gut moving/give you diarrhoea and that in turn can sometimes start contractions. Not sure I want to go into labour with a stomach upset! MW reckons only thing that works is sex - not finding it easy right now to get in the mood though, not just the fact that I feel so unattractively huge and uncomfortable, but thoughts of labour just keep popping into my head all the time !

Eyelash and Cazzybabs - you're both due to see MW today aren't you (if you're still around)? Hope all goes well.

cazzybabs · 30/09/2004 13:24

God - I am definatly not constipated which I take to be a good sign! Have an appointment to discuss induction with doctor next Thurs - so hopefully things will happen before then. Am leaking milk and baby is fully engaged but not back to back - erghhhh. This baby is going to hurt!

But my blood pressure has come down which is good.

Am I allowed to join the due in Oct. thread I wonder as this baby seems to think it is.

eyelash · 30/09/2004 14:33

Cazzybabs - do you mean baby IS back to back - if so get your bum in the air. ds2 was back to back until the day before I went into labour and then turned but I spent lots of time in this position. Hope db turns for you and glad blood pressure is down. And of course join the October thread.

Distracted - are you nervous about the sweep? And I bet sex is the last thing on your mind but my midwife suggested it as the one thing to get things moving.

As for me - obviously still here - baby is fully engaged and midwife did a (consented) internal this morning and she said she would be surprised if i hadn't delivered in the next week or so as cervix favourable . It wasn't even that uncomfortable but we will see what will happen.

See you both over on the October thread.

cazzybabs · 30/09/2004 15:05

Sorry - am half asleep. I want it front to back - its half way there - shall get bum in air (but prehaps shall ait until friend who is coming round a bit has gone!)

Distracted · 30/09/2004 15:08

Hello Cazzybabs and Eyelash - looks like we're all still here.

So Cazzybabs - do we join the October thread tomorrow then ?

Presume you meant baby IS back to back? Good luck with getting the baby to turn. Otherwise you could always just plump for an epidural (remember someone telling me to just go for an epidural if baby was back to back, it would probably be the excuse I needed as I'm in two minds about epidural) Having said that I don't actually know what position my baby is in other than head down, as MW didn't tell me this week - bit annoying, will have to ask before sweep tomorrow)!

You both sound ready to go if baby fully engaged - especially as it's not first baby for either of you. Mine is only 2/5 engaged - although in fact I'm not sure that dd was ever more than 2/5 or maybe 3/5 engaged last time (but then she didn't come out of her own accord either, but only after a sweep).

I am pretty nervous about the sweep so will book dh in for last ditch attempt to get things moving this evening However, I'm probably not as nervous about the sweep as I was last pregnancy, as I've had it done before and it wasn't painful, just uncomfortable, like a smear (always get nervous about smears too - but then compared to labour...)

So Eyelash - did you effectively have a sweep this morning?

Good luck both anyway - not sure if I'll get to log on tomorrow, so fingers crossed all round.

cazzybabs · 30/09/2004 15:13

No its not back to back, but its not front to back either...its kind of on its side according to my scan and the midwife today. I just have a wierd baby!

Distracted · 30/09/2004 15:15

Posts must have crossed - presume baby is sideways then? Think mine has always tended to be at previous examinations - not sure if that isn't normal pre-labour? Having said that I had problems last time as head was sideways (only fully dilated one side of cervix as not pressing on other side and got stuck at 8 cm for long long time), so I will certainly ask about position this time at first examination in labour (as took a long time to realise this was the problem last time). Definitely would keep an eye on that - but may not be unusual pre-labour as most of the diagrams you see in pregnancy books show the baby sideways on, so maybe they only tend to go front to back when you actually go into labour??
