Blimey. I've been lurking around mumsnet for a few months while ttc, but have only posted a couple of times. Didn't expect to be the one starting this thread!

Got a BFP yesterday (in the loo at work - classy!) and another one this morning.

According to fertility friend the due date is 9th feb.

It'll be our first, and we're both a bit shell-shocked. But happy, I think!

Is anyone else due in feb? I could really do with someone to compare notes with. I'm dying to tell my friends and family, but feel that we should leave it a few weeks, really..

Anyway ? hello everybody!

congrats angeliz an all after your scans it is such an exciting time for us all i just cant wait

Staceyk · 07/10/2004 09:18

Morning all
Had my scan and all was wonderful. She was pushing and shoving for about 20 mins, and then asked us to go for a walk to make baby move, and then she scanned some more, got 6 lovely pics, and absolutely everything is perfect, so so relieved, as I have been panicing as I haven't felt anything, but baby was sure moving around on the scan!
Didn't find out the sex (through choice) I'm just on cloud 9 at the moment, which is rather odd considering I am jobless! I have sent a letter to the big boss asking for him to offer a settlement or I will start legal proceedings, heard nothing yet! I have a meeting with my solicitor next Tuesday, so will start the ball rolling then! All rather stressful but baby is all ok and thats the main thing.

jolly4 · 07/10/2004 11:26

oh staceyk glad too hear things are all ok, it is a relief i think when things are fine i personally find that i sub consiously worried b4 my scan, i think you need too sort out your work problems some employers av got a cheek , i have been feeling lousy for now 4 weeks i started with headaches an generally unwell, but i didnt take time off , then after 2 weeks i went too docs she told me i had a chest infection so prescribed antibiotics, i phoned work an went sick for 5 days i work alone as a school cook , i am cookin cleaning do orders an paperwork, it is hard work but if you are well it s ok, i returned too work after 5 days , and still to this day am feeling unwell still full of cold an noi energy, so days i feel so rough i just cry , sorry for goin on but when i returned to work the first time i had not fully recovered but went back due too bein short staffed ,i felt guilty ,i struggled for a week with no calls from my superiors too see how i was coping , i went sick again on tuesday i will now not return until i have fully recovered they obviously were just glad i was there an that was that when i went too docs again she said i have a virus which is obviously taking its toll an i can not take anything cos i am pregnant i am sure that work think i am taking the p--s but i am looin after no1 after all i am carrin a new life in my tummy so i will go back when i am ready stuff em !!!!!!!!!! sorry too go on but i had too get off my chest thnks

Staceyk · 07/10/2004 12:38

Too right Jolly4, you should never have felt guilty and gone back too early.
Think it would have been different if these were people who really appreciated your efforts etc, but these are people who didn't even bother to call, regardless of them knowing you are on your own, pregnant, and feeling ill!
And most importanatly never apologise on MN, thats what we are all here for.
Take care of yourself.

Hello, hope you don't mind if I join in, have only just discovered this website. Am due 24th Feb, 1st pregnancy & chuffed to bits as took 3 & half years to conceive. Just had the 20 week scan last week, which was fab though got all emotional & teary when I saw baby's face. Got a video too (had to get it done privately as no routine 20 week scans this neck of the woods). Enjoying feeling all the movements etc. Still seems a long way to go though.

Hi Nik 72,

I've just found this website too. I'm due 20th Feb. We do have the 20 week scan, however, because my brain cells are disappearing, I turned up on the wrong day and the wrong time . I can't believe that I was so daft. Trying to arrange another appointment, as I now have all sorts of fears going through my mind, I've waited 6 years for this baby. Mind you he/she is very active and it's lovely to feel the baby move.

So where did you have your private scan done?

Nik72 · 11/10/2004 17:22

I think south east scotland is the only place left in the Uk not doing 20 week scans though they are going to introduce them (allegedly)! Had a dating scan & that's it unless you cough up. Was a bit nervous before, thinking what if they do pick something abnormal up?
Glad someone elses brain has turned to putty - thought it was just me going quietly mad!!!

bunjies · 12/10/2004 10:38

Having my 20 week scan this afternoon although am actually 21 weeks. Feeling excited but apprehensive as well. Looking forward to finding out the sex (if I can) but also worried about there being anything wrong.

SPD is kicking in properly now but still manageable. Also started getting back pain at night round my right kidney.

Told my boss when I am going to start my maternity leave yesterday. Hah - you should have seen the look on his face. Stupid twit thought that because the due date is feb I would be leaving in Feb. Man did he get that wrong! This is baby no 3 for me and I'm going to try and get as much rest as I can beforehand. So with my annual leave I'm going to finish for Xmas on 22nd Dec then go back to work for 4 days after New Year then off for good from 10th Jan, starting mat leave on 17th Jan. I can't wait.

Anyone else know when they want to start their mat leave (if you're working of course).

mckenzie · 12/10/2004 19:52

hey bunjies, I also had my 20 week scan today. Didn't found out sex (didn't want to) but glad to find out that the baby's head this time is average in size (DS's head measured larger than average so I spent the second 20 weeks worrying about how I was going to get him out!)

Also had a 'Meet and Greet' at the Birthing Centre at the local hospital (I had DS at a different hospital). I was so impressed with the centre that i wanted to stay and give birth there and then! I'm now really excited about the whole birth thing rather than terrified like I was first time around. They have CD players in all rooms, all have aromatherpy equipment and en suites even! I might not want to leave.

Hazellnut · 14/10/2004 14:18

Can I join in too please ?? Am due on 10 Feb so am 23 weeks today ! Had scan last week - all fine except s/he is a bit small (measuring bottom of normal) - am trying not to worry as I am only 5 ft and dh (can't work out what the 'd' is ??) is only 5 ft 7 so they did say it was probably more than likely a small baby but have to go back 4 weeks later for another scan just to check !! So... fingers crossed... It doesn't help the fact I have a huuuuge bump so people keep telling me it must be a big baby !! I must just be a freak of nature ! Hope everyone else is doing well. PS. Anyone found a maternity coat yet ?

Angeliz · 14/10/2004 14:39

Hello everyone and welcome to the new ones
Hazellnut, the d stands for
dh dear/darling husband
dd dera/darling daughter
ds dear/darling son
I haven't yet got a meaternity coat but really need one as i was at the beach yesterday with dd and i could JUST do up my zip!
Hope everyone is feeling well, i don't think the size of your bump has any significance whatsoever as to size of baby. Try not to get too worried+

Congratulations all on good scans
Am i the only one to find out the sex?????

Momof2 · 14/10/2004 14:43

Hi to everyone

I found out the sex at the scan - we are having a boy! DD was really upset and DSD was over the moon (can't win)
Should we start a new thread? This seems to be getting as large as my tummy
Hope everyone is feeling well.

emandbump · 15/10/2004 11:16

Can I join the Feb thread? Am expecting a boy on the 27th February. Have been feeling a bit lonely and isolated (I work freelance, but have found that as the bump gets bigger, the jobs are dissapearing), but have loved spending the morning reading all your scan news etc.

Angeliz · 15/10/2004 11:19

emandbump, hello, welcome and Congratualtions+++
Have you has your scan??

Mumof2, Congratulations+++
(That's half the reason we found out , to prepare dd as she really wanted a sister!)

emandbump · 15/10/2004 11:31

hello angeliz - yep, we've had our 20 week scan. It was so good to see the little man kicking away as I still haven't felt anything much (especially not the 'butterfly/bubbly' stuff I've been told to expect) - although I suspect some of the crampy twinges could be him... I'm not sure!

bunjies · 15/10/2004 13:49

I'm having a girl!! Ds was not impressed but at least he's now got 4 months to get used to the idea. Everything went well and the dates are still the same. I'm pleased as baby will be sharing a room with dd1 (oooh I'll be able to say dd1 and dd2!)

Angeliz · 15/10/2004 16:53

Congratulations you two++

bunjies, i know what you mean, today i said to dp on the phone that i was on the settee with our dds

I was in town this morning and this woman was infront of me in a que and asked when was i due , did i know what it was????
I told her yes, it was a girl i found out last week and she said, "Oh i don't think i would've wanted to know, are you upset now that you found out?" to which i replied,
"well i pondered on it for months and then as soon as i found out i thought that i've spoilt the suprize and am so dissapointed now as i have NOTHING to look forward to!!"

Well i didn't really, (wish i had!), i just looked at her in a strange pitying way before looking into the distance to avoid further moronic chat

aloha · 15/10/2004 16:57

Angeliz - some people just spout the most amazing rubbish to you , don't they? Do you think they have the faintest idea how rude they are being?

Angeliz · 15/10/2004 17:03

I honestly think she was trying to be friendly!! Sometimes words fail me!
Hope you're well+

laa · 17/10/2004 19:35

Hi everyone - well done on all this lovely scan news! I didn't find the gender out this time, although I was tempted! DH has much more willpower than me! I've got a growth scan too on 22 Nov and I'm going onmy own...the temptation to find out will be huge, but I musn't cave in cos I'm rubbish at keeping secrets!

Angeliz · 18/10/2004 09:45

Is anyone else finding it REALLY hard to sleep and worrying a rdidiculous ammount??
I didn't get to sleep last night till 1 a.m, (I lay crying my eyes out over every little thing to worry me about dd, i just couldn't stop thinking about how afwul it would be should anything happen to her and how much i love her). I then woke at 4 and just tossed and turned till 7!!!

DD has just started nursery a few weeks ago, could it be this or is it blasted hormones again??
Anyone empathise??

Momof2 · 18/10/2004 10:11

I know exactly what you mean! Am sleeping really badly and on Sat. was looking through a catalogue and saw a picture in the boys section of a 10 year old and just panicked - what am I going to do with a boy FGS? I only know about girls! LOL But it worried away at me all day.
Shall I start a new thread do you think? Only its taking forever to page down now.
