Blimey. I've been lurking around mumsnet for a few months while ttc, but have only posted a couple of times. Didn't expect to be the one starting this thread!

Got a BFP yesterday (in the loo at work - classy!) and another one this morning.

According to fertility friend the due date is 9th feb.

It'll be our first, and we're both a bit shell-shocked. But happy, I think!

Is anyone else due in feb? I could really do with someone to compare notes with. I'm dying to tell my friends and family, but feel that we should leave it a few weeks, really..

Anyway ? hello everybody!

Hi Tipex, I really wouldn't worry! I had a huge bump with my 1st and got so big that at the end I got stuck in an Indian takeaway between the table and fixed chair! fortunately I got free without the help of the fire brigade. I had loads of comments about how it was the biggest bump people had ever seen....anyway, DS was a big baby. I have a big bump at 20 wks with my 3rd right now and just ignore the comments. I love my bump!
Angeliz, picking up from the thread the other night, sorry to hear you cried when your sister asked to borrow your video card! Nearly as good as crying at the golf..!

artyjoe · 27/09/2004 14:35

Just jumping in from the due in January thread, hope you don't mind!
Tippex, just wait until complete strangers rub your stomach...no joking absolute strangers have done this to me twice now...sooooo not funny! Me and my next door neighbour are due one day apart and she is absolutely huge and has been since 3 months and i have only just got past the looking fat stage, she's carrying very high, i'm extremely low, yet both babies weigh the same (575grams) and in fact her babies belly measures smaller than mine and yet she looks like she's due to have 3!

Good luck - joe

Its only in the last week that I have strated enjoying it, I keep getting comments as well that most women dont even show till they r over 5mths, but everybody is diff so enjoy your bump whatever size it may be!!

Hi All!

Just a quickie to say had my scan today and all well..it's a boy! They were running late and I thought I was going to die due to needing the toilet but when I went in she said I could go and empty my bladder as she didn't need a full one at all! I could of kissed her and killed her at the same time for keeping me waiting 45 mins in that state!

Oh well..was lovely seeing the baby and confirming it is a boy!

The lady said that some scanners like you to have a full bladder which is why they put it on the notes to have one but that you don't really need one so best check first.

Yes..we had a boy name in mind already so I suppose we will go with it now we know it is a boy..Samuel! Middle name probably Jack.

laa · 28/09/2004 20:40

Congrats Futurity! It's so exciting seeing them on the scan isn't it. fantastic choice of name too, if I may say, (and I would because it is my DS's name!). Did you have a feeling it would be a boy? do you have other children, boys or girls?

futurity · 28/09/2004 21:05

We knew it may be a boy from the nuchal scan I had at 13 weeks but it was nice to get it confirmed. I have a D.S who will be 3 in January so there will be a three year gap between my boys (makes me to say "my boys"!)

I have been telling people today that the baby is a boy and have been ready to slap anyone who says "oh..another boy" or "didn't you want a girl" but so far no-one has dared!

jolly4 · 28/09/2004 21:42

Angeliz · 01/10/2004 15:05

Congratulations jolly4 and futurity
I have mine next week and we've decided to find out the sex (they didn't -wouldn't tell us last time and i wasn't bothered but we've decided that this time would be good to know so that we acn prepare dd a little- at the minute, she will hear nothing of boys- just wants a sister!)

I called the midwife this morning as i don't see her for another 3 weeks and wanted re-assurance that all was well (haven't seen her since 8 weeks!! as i feel like shit

I have proyien in my urine so she's sent that off and she took blood as i look so pale, checked my nails aswell! I feel SO groggy the last few days. Tired-queezy-weepy and just generally poorly!
I got to hear the heartbeat for the first time though so was chuffed.

laa · 01/10/2004 19:59

Hi everyone. I've got my scan on Weds. and I'm really excited. I'm not going to find out the sex, but I'm very tempted. I did ask with no.2 but they weren't sure and guessed at a girl, which she was! Anyway, at least I'll see if it's likely to be another whopper - DS and DD were both 9lb11...my pelvic floor is fated if it's another big baby. Sorry you're feeling so lousy Angeliz. Hope you're feeling better soon - have a restful (with kids ha ha ha) w/e.

Staceyk · 04/10/2004 08:05

Hi all, I have my scan on Wednesday as well Laa, I am more nervous than anything else., think cos I still haven't felt any movement at all, I'm so scared.
I know it's silly to worry, but roll on Wednesday. I'm going to be sacked tomorrow (b*stard bosses want to avoid maternity pay) so I think that on my mind too.
Will let you know how I get on.

Good luck StaceyK and Laa for your scans
Are you both going to find out the sex? (My hospital have just satrted to tell you if you want to know!).
I've just got my results, i haven't got a water infection but a low iron count so they're gonna give me tablets. I suppose it could explain why i felt so grotty and everyone kept telling me i look awful

I can't believe that StaceyK - it's shocking. Hope you can take action against your bosses. Good luck with the scan. I'm feeling nervous too. I seem to get more nervous with each pregnancy. Saw the consultant today and she's very nice. Got to go for another couple of growth scans though and an unfeasibly protracted glucose tolerance test - 2.5 hours to do it..what to do with the 3yo and 18mo old??! Anyway all seems well. hope you feel better soon Angeliz. It is a good excuse to stuff your face with chocolate though! - and it's apparently national chocolate wk. this wk. so I feel I must support the cause!

Staceyk · 05/10/2004 11:58

Hi all, yes it's completely out of order I know, and I will be taking them to tribunal, just waiting to speak to my solicitor today really. It's all hassle I don't need though and can take as long as 3-6 months, and really I'd rather just have what I'm due now, rather than wait for some huge pay out, oh well I'll keep you all updated. Although not so often as I won't have easy access to net.
I'll let you all know how I get on at tomorrows scan!!

futurity · 05/10/2004 19:24

Good luck for all your scans.

Having a bad day today. Had to have one of our cats put to sleep. She was 13 and had a cancerous tumour which we found out today when we took her for her yearly jab. We had her for 9 years. Can't stop crying. Thankfully DS is too young to realise one of the cats is gone (we have 3 others) so he is cheering me and DH up by carrying on as normal. Sorry for such a sad posting..just had to talk about it.

Angeliz · 05/10/2004 20:20

Oh futurity how sad
I never know what to say in these circumstances but i have a boxer dog i adore and i would be heartbroken so i'm so sorry!+++++++

jolly4 · 06/10/2004 08:31

Angeliz · 06/10/2004 16:30

jolly4 so sorry about your dog++++++

I'm just back from my scan and..................................it's a girl+
DD wanted a sister but i just wanted it to be healthy, (though tiny part of my heart wanted another girl too). All is well, i got 3 pics and a lovely one of HER (oh i can say her instaed of it ) profile.
Of course she said she could be wrong and they are never really 100% but she couldn't see any boy bits. She said, "Unless it's doing a Danny Le Rou it's a girl"

As you can all tell am totally loved up

Angeliz · 06/10/2004 16:31

Can't wait to hear all about your scans.++++

Pidge · 06/10/2004 16:53

Angeliz - rather sneakily looking at this thread (I'm due 2nd March, so you never know!). So excited at your scan news. Can't wait for mine at 23 weeks ... another month to go.
