Blimey. I've been lurking around mumsnet for a few months while ttc, but have only posted a couple of times. Didn't expect to be the one starting this thread!

Got a BFP yesterday (in the loo at work - classy!) and another one this morning.

According to fertility friend the due date is 9th feb.

It'll be our first, and we're both a bit shell-shocked. But happy, I think!

Is anyone else due in feb? I could really do with someone to compare notes with. I'm dying to tell my friends and family, but feel that we should leave it a few weeks, really..

Anyway ? hello everybody!

My bump is also showing proudly! Am now in maternity clothes which always make you look more pregnant. I am feeling movement as well..normally straight after eating..baby goes nuts and has a dance! Look forward to feeling proper kicks (I shall probably regret saying that when baby is thumping me at 2am!)

Staceyk · 21/09/2004 09:44

I've always had a lumpy tummy anyway (size 20), but it seems my various rolls have now become one! But it's not hard at all?
I honestly can't tell if what I am feeling is baby moving , or hunger rumbles, or just the usual rumbles you get. When midwife listened for heartbest on Firday she said it was moving, but I couldn't feel it!
I am so desperate to start either really looking or really feeling pregnant/baby, it still does not seem real.
Is anyone else on the large side and not got a hard bump?

jolly4 · 21/09/2004 10:05

I know what you mean jolly4..my scan is a week today and although the date seems to have come round quickly it still seems ages away..can't wait!

jolly4 · 21/09/2004 10:26

i think i have an obssesion with prams well silver cross coach built ones i have bought 2 prams off ebay must say it is addictive an i want a big pram i just think they all great an nice an big an bouncy i got a mamas an papas pram for 21.00 an a graco travel system for 36 pound that includes postage

Momof2 · 21/09/2004 10:30

My scan is 1st Oct (next week - wow time seems to have flown by!) Have a bump and although my work suits still just about fit (the jackets are hiding the bump still) none of my other clothes do up anymore so last night I got down 2 suitcases and packed away EVERYTHING that doesn't fit and isn;t going to. That way I won;t get depressed when I go to my drawer and try to squeeze into my jeans and also in a year's time (or so) I can unpack the 2 cases and feel like I have been out and had a major shop as I am bound to forget what I have packed . Problem is now that I have a very empty wardrobe and 3 very sorry looknig drawers where I have treid to spread out my 3 pairs of mat. trousers and couple of tops LOL.

Momof2 · 21/09/2004 10:33

Jolly - know what you mean about prams! Luckily enough DP's ex still has the pram from their DD and has offered it to us as she hasn't used it for her new DD, its a mama's and papa's pram and is absolutely lovely and she bought all the trimmings to go with it at the time too.
Hope you don't feel too awful - take it easy and MN all day!!!

jolly4 · 21/09/2004 10:41

thats a good idea putting your smaller clothes in a case i never thought of that it would make more room in my draws cos hardly anything fits me .

Angeliz · 21/09/2004 11:16

Momof2, what a great idea, i have a few hours this afternoon and i'm gonna do just that
I get very sick of putting clothes on, looking in mirror and losing the will to dress!!

I haven't heard baby's heartbeat yet, my next midwife app is shortly after my scan in October. Thats from 8 weeks pregnant to 22 weeks pregnant.!!!!!

Momof2 · 21/09/2004 11:26

Also thought it might give me an incentive to lose weight after the baby - instead of going to the drawer and getting out clothes that don't fit after the birth I can set a date of when I am going to unpack and aim to get all the weight off by then. naturally I will do a Liz Hurley and will be back in my pre pregnancy clothes in 28 days
Angeliz- what a long wait for you. I thought I had to wait a long time going from my last midwife appt at wk 16 to the next at wk 24, but I at least got to hear the heart beat at wk 16 and have my scan in between. Really fell for you having to wait that long!

Momof2 · 21/09/2004 11:28

Sorry Angeliz, I haven't fallen for you, but I do FEEL for you (LOL)

bunjies · 21/09/2004 11:40

Hi all, 18 weeks today.

I've just realised the dippy woman at the hospital has booked my 20 week scan during my 21st week. Is this likely to be a problem? Does it have to be done during the 20th week?

Momoftwo - I also packed away all my clothes that don't fit. Bought a couple of nice tops in Mothercare this week (buy one get one half price). They are £20 each so you can get 2 for £30. The offer also applies to bottoms as well. Some of their stuff is ok these days although I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole when I was pregnant before.

Momof2 · 21/09/2004 11:44

Hi Bunjies,
Thanks for the info about Mothercare, will be over there to restock my drawers this weekend!
I don't think its a problem about the scan, I remember a friend of mine couldn't make the date that they had given her and moved it to a week later and there wasn't any issues

2ticks · 21/09/2004 15:58

Well my bump is definately showing even though I am only 17 weeks (due on the last day of February, so only just make it onto this thread!!). Scan not until 21st October as Midwife says that they do the 20 week scan at 21 weeks here - feels like absolutely ages away.

Can't really feel the baby kick yet, but do wonder sometimes at odd tummy twitches whether it is the baby. Heard the heartbeat last week at 16 weeks - next midwife appointment not until 24 weeks - the gap between appointments seems much longer than I remember with DS - maybe I'm just more impatient this time round.

Sickness has pretty much gone, but still suffering from really bad headaches - probably about 2-3 per week. I think I remember this with DS and that they went at around this time - fingers crossed that the same happens this time!!

Angeliz · 21/09/2004 16:01

Didn't get to pack away my clothes as i went to Asda instead. My local Asda has stopped doing maternity wear!!

Mumof2, i like you too but not in that way

Angeliz · 21/09/2004 16:01
Angeliz · 21/09/2004 16:02

2ticks, just read your post, i had AWFUL headaches and all of a sudden they've dissapeared. (I'm 18+ weeks now).

bunjies · 23/09/2004 11:17

Oh good - won't bother re-arranging it then.

2ticks - I was told by my midwife that they had changed the frequency of the appointments for non-complicated pregnancies. So I saw her at 16 weeks and I'm not going to see her again until 24 weeks as well.

Angeliz · 25/09/2004 12:31

2ticks, will let you know av=bout any marraige thoughts

Just wanted to see if anyone was on athe mo as i have awful shortness of breath today.
Is it everyone else too?
I always do when i go up stairs or something but just seems to be constant today!

Mothers eh? Who'd 'ave 'em!!!!!

Huge Congratulations to you and beleive me, you'll get comments-advice-memories from all and sundry now.
Just be happy in yourself!

mckenzie · 26/09/2004 17:18

hi Tipex and welcome. I think re the size of your bump it's quite difficult to say. Women in general are all different shapes and sizes and they also all carry their babies differently. Everyone will have a different story to tell but I would asy that as long as your midwife is happy with your size then you've nothing to worry about. Just enjoy the lovely sensation of your body getting bigger and bigger and it all being down to not chocolate and danish patries but the future baby tipex!!
