Blimey. I've been lurking around mumsnet for a few months while ttc, but have only posted a couple of times. Didn't expect to be the one starting this thread!

Got a BFP yesterday (in the loo at work - classy!) and another one this morning.

According to fertility friend the due date is 9th feb.

It'll be our first, and we're both a bit shell-shocked. But happy, I think!

Is anyone else due in feb? I could really do with someone to compare notes with. I'm dying to tell my friends and family, but feel that we should leave it a few weeks, really..

Anyway ? hello everybody!

welcome candycaine and congratulations!! I'm worried about being pregnant with No2 and a friend who is also on this thread is a tad nervous about being pregnant with No3!
Go for it girl. How old are your others?

candycaine · 23/08/2004 21:43

Thanks mckenzie.I have dd who is 15, ds1 who is 8, ds2 who is 7 and another ds who is just 5. Everyone seems to think this will be a dd but family history dictates it will probably be another ds!!!! Help! No only kidding all my ds are great. This will also be my fourth c section!!!

jolly4 · 24/08/2004 12:43

jolly4: no experience of this i am afraid..maybe someone else will help? Isn't there something called carpel tunnel syndrome which is in pregancy and causes pins and needles??

I am chuffed as someone said i was "blooming" today..she said i looked loads better which is kinda odd because now i feel like i must have looked awful before! :)

jolly4 · 26/08/2004 10:50

naged to give away all of my old maternity clothes to charity about 2 wks before I found out I was pregnant, so i've just been shopping and for one managed to find lots of really nice stuff - still in shock. DD is prob. coming down with chicken pox, but at least DS is starting pre-school next wk. cos I'm soooo tired! My dates keep changing so I'm utterly confused as to when no. 3 is due but it seems its now the 16th Feb. I'm still having to wear those acupressure bands because of sickness and i'm desperately hoping the feeling will go soon, but other wise I'm just feeling really excited about it all just now!

laa · 30/08/2004 22:00

Sorry Dazedand confused! Just reading properly through the thread and noticed you asked about 21mo age gaps. that was the fap between DS and DD and there'll be 22-23 mos. bet. DD and this next one. We thought it worked really well.DS was pretty oblivious to his sister's arrival and life just seemed to carry on as normal for him. He was interested now and then, but there wasn't any overt resentement etc. cos life went on for him with toddler gp. etc. Plus, he was still having a bit of anap in the afternoon which was fab. I suppose whatever age gap you have you make it work, but I'm a big fan of the around 21-24 mos - as you can see!! Still wondering though how on earth I'll manage another on in the mix! Candycaine, well done on no. 5 -any hot tips for coping with a large family??

futurity · 02/09/2004 19:49

Hope everyone is doing well. I had my midwife check yesterday. She took AGES to find the heartbeat and I was getting worried when finally I heard it nice and clear..he was just hiding I think! My DS was a bit unsure but proudly told Daddy later "I heard the baby!". Talking of proud I am chuffed as the midwife said that my iron levels (from my blood test results) were the best she had seen from any pregnant lady for a while..she said I must have a very good diet (HA! If only she knew!)

2ticks · 03/09/2004 10:05

Glad your midwife check went well Futurity - my next one is 13th September, seems like there are ages between appointments this time around, but maybe I'm just getting impatient - can't wait to hear the heartbeat again!!

I dread to think what my iron levels are going to be like - too scared to phone up for my blood test results, I know I will be on the iron tablets!!

I'm getting really bad headaches at the moment (same thing happened when pg with ds) - was in bed by 9pm last night!!

Hope everyone's doing OK.

Momof2 · 08/09/2004 10:54

Morning everyone - hope you are all well.
Got my test results yesterday and all clear (what a sigh of relief!)
So next dilemma is do I have the Anti D as I am negative and DP is positive (blood groups)? Was going to breeze along with it all until yesterday when I actually read up about what the injection actually is! Anyone else having to consider this?
Angeliz - what a nightmare for you at your appointment in the hospital, not surprised you insisting they get the results there and then!
No midwife appointment for me now until Nov 2nd (how far away?) but I do have my scan on 1st Oct.

Angeliz · 08/09/2004 11:19

Hello, well i went for mine yesterday.
I waited half an hour in the waiting room and was then taken into a side room where i waited another 20 minutes to be told they didn't have them as my midwife had put 2 addresses down and they may have been sent back to G.P :(
A nurse told me i'd have to wait till next app with midwife(6 weeks time) and i told her that i would not! They got on phone to lab and gave me HALF!!!!
I then had to wait ANOTHER half hour to see Doc who took one look at me and said "you look fine and healthy- no problems" and then proceeded to change my dates from 25th (MY calculation) and from 22nd (scan calculation) to 28th (HIS calculation!!!)

?????????????????????????????????????????????????

GOT home and rang G.P and all is FINE!!!
Still a releif after all the anger at total disorder of Hospital!!!!

Thanks Mumof2, i have calmed down now but was LIVID on the day.
(I just cut and pasted it from other thread as i meant to post it here too)

Well, i am o.k.
DD d=started nursery yesterday, she LOVES it and i'm finding lots of time to cook (making lasagne at the mo) and come on mumsnet{grin} but worry about her ALOT! (Won't let her know my anxieties of course).
The dreaded heartburn has started!!
I don't know anything about that Mumof2 but hope you get some advice soon.

Lonelymum · 10/09/2004 13:33

Sorry to be shameless but I would like to draw all pregnant ladies' attention to the For Sale thread where I have advertised some maternity wear for sale. Good luck with the pregnancies!

Momof2 · 10/09/2004 14:13

Speaking of which - is anyone else having problems finding Maternity wear? I went to our local shopping Mall only to discover that John Lewis no longer stock anything, Next have been redoing the shop so Maternity is the last dept to be put back - nothing anymore in M&S/BHS, Mothercare have gone somewhere else.....GOt really grumpy about it all, anyone got any ideas? What I am really panicing about is a winter coat - I mean its going to be cold when I am at my largest! Needs to be on the affordable side too!
Apart from that I am feeling really well at the moment - hope everyone else is too!

laa · 11/09/2004 19:38

Hi Mum of Two. I know what you mean about clothing. I threw away all my clothes from my first two pregnancies, only to find out that I was pregnant 2 or so wks later. Ive been very lucky because I live near Nottingham where there are a couple of really nice maternity shops. Plus, my mother in law treated me to a few lovely things. Not that that is any help to you of course! Have you tried on line - Jo Jo Maman Bebe, Blooming Marvellous, Vertbaudet? I always think summer maternity stuff seems much more interesting than the winter clothes, but maybe that's because I've had all winter pregnancies!

futurity · 12/09/2004 18:55

DOn't get me started on maternity clothes..or lack of!! I have been pulling my hair out about this in the last week. Went to two large Tescos and was told they dont do maternity clothes anymore. With one of them I phone before hand and was told they do them so I went there (25 min in car) Got there and was told "no..we stopped doing them 6 weeks ago". I was FURIOUS and wrote and complained. Next do stuff but I find it too expensive. I think Dorothey Perkins do but only in larger stores (was told once that they don't like using up floor space on maternity clothes!!). However..to the rescue today comes ASDA! They now have autumn/winter stuff in so I phoned and checked and they put all of my sizes to one side. I got there..tried loads of stuff on and came away with one pair of jeans and a couple of tops. I hasten to add I already have maternity clothes from last time (also a winter baby) but they are size 14 and I am now size 12 hence why I needed to buy some more as all my old stuff is too big at the moment and they are all work clothes..I had nothing casual last time so I rectified that today!

Sorry for the long message but I get so annoyed on the lack of affordable maternity clothes!

Staceyk · 16/09/2004 11:54

Hi All
How's everyone doing?
I'm 17 weeks today. Got my first midwife appointment tomorrow morning.
I'm still feeling totally fine, and not pregnant at all!!!
Hope you are all well.
We are nearly reaching the half way mark

futurity · 16/09/2004 19:21

Just wondered..has anyone got there 20 week scan soon? Mine on the 28th!

laa · 16/09/2004 19:41

Hi Futurity, mine is on 6th Oct - very exciting isn't it! I've been having a dreadful time. I had really severe gastro-enteritis last wk. and had to take loads of anti-emetics and anti-diarrohea stuff so I could keep water down. I still feel like I'm recovering. It's also triggered off my morning sickness again, which had settled down to just feeling nauseous morning and evening. Hey-ho. Just whilst I'm whinging and generally feeling very sorry for myself, I also have very bad symphysis pubis disorder - does anyone else have this? Any recommendations to ease the pain, because I can barely walk into town - or get upstairs sometimes. Otherwise I'm fine and dandy. Honestly!

Angeliz · 16/09/2004 20:48

My second scan is on 6th October.
Can't wait to see it again but am REALLY torn. Last time they would not tell the sex so i didn't even have to think about it. Now they will and i don't know whether i want to know.
futurity i must pop round to Asda now, they had some lovely end of season stuff a few weeks ago so should have all new stock in now.

Hope everyone is well+

jolly4 · 18/09/2004 21:42

hi angeliz an evry1 my scan is on the 27th sept cant wait

Staceyk · 21/09/2004 07:50

Angeliz & Laa we've all got our 20 week scan on the same day! Roll on 6th October!
Personally still not feeling in the slightest bit pregnant.
My first midwife appointment all went well, baby's heartbeat all good and healthy.
Thought some of the questions asked for birth plan are a bit daft, what position? Do I want to eat? How am I meant to know???

Angeliz · 21/09/2004 08:05

Hi everyone, StaceyK, don't worry you have loads o time to figure that stuff out. I'm suprized they talked about your Birthplan at your first app!
Good luck for scans everyone
You're first Jolly so you can make us all even more eager

My heartburn is AWFUL and am drinking Gaviscon agan which makes me nearly vomit

Staceyk · 21/09/2004 08:55

Is everyone cleary showing now? with proper bumps?
Has anyone felt baby moving?

Angeliz · 21/09/2004 09:25

I've been feeling the baby move for a while now. MUCH earlier than with dd.
I have bigger bump too, i remember going out for works leaving do at this stage with dd and i wasn't showing AT ALL> Now you can't miss my bump!!
