After the inital shock of finding out I am pregnant again, I have started bleeding today. Phoned the emergancy gp and of course he said that it could be a miscarriage, so he tried to get me an appointment at the EPU but noone is there, so I have to phone my gp tomorrow.. I have a very slight pain on my right hand side, and the bleeding is light. I asked about ectopic pregnancy and he said I would be in serevre pain, which I am not.

the thing is the EPU will not see me till monday when I am 6 weeks. I have lost no clots which I know is a good thing, but its the not knowing...

sgk - hope you'll be ok.

I've had tough times when preg so feel for you xxx

annie07 · 03/01/2007 00:37

Cant believe EPU wont see you before 6 weeks and that you have to wait till you're 6 weeks - thats ridiculous. u said you've had a missed miscarriage before in which case any sign of bleeding should be dealt with immediately. I had two miscarriages and was told that in my next pregnancy any bleeding however small meant I was to be referred to EPU without delay however early on in pregnancy I was.am really ... its agonising to wait till the 8th.

SparklyGothKat · 03/01/2007 00:58

yes I had a missed miscarriage in 1999. Only knew something was up when I started bleeding. I was 8 weeks, but the baby had stopped growing at 5 weeks. Pain is back, but only a dull ache. I don't know what to do. Don't want to go to A&E as they still won't scan me.. so I will still be none the wiser..

I know it's not very honest, but could you tell a tiny little fib? Can you say the pain is a bit stronger than before? I had pains with my dd & same story, couldn't scan me etc... finally my sis got fed up looking at me in pain & called & said she was brining me in as I was in so much pain...they had to scan me when I went!!

I know it's not very honest, but it would put your mind at rest.

SparklyGothKat · 03/01/2007 01:37

did think about doing that tomorrow, if the pain is still there. Bleeding has stopped again.. stop, start, stop, start, its driving me mad. My boobs are still sore and swollen, and my food is still repeating on me all the time, so I guess that is a good sign, but its driving me crazy

i'd lie about the pain in order to get a scan, tbh. sorry that you're having an uncertain time of it, sparklygothkat. however with my sensible hat on i can tell you that the protocol with suspected ectopics (not what this is, but it's obviously a consideration) is to wait until 6 weeks, so you're probably safe enough. i'd still lie, though.

annie07 · 03/01/2007 02:26

cant sleep so come back to look on mumsnet! with my second miscarriage, i went to one hospital A & E who turned me away, after a couple of hours the pain increased (but no bleeding) and my then boyfriend took me to another A& E where I was admitted straight away - I was 5 weeks pregnant and was scanned. I think my boyfriend took over and caused a lot of fuss emphasising how much pain i was in...i really feel for you having to wait till monday - its the waiting game of not knowing whats going on thats really really hard. i dont think doctors/hospital staff realise this!

SparklyGothKat · 03/01/2007 11:25

No pain and no bleeding this morning. Lets see what today brings.

Good that there's no pain & no bleeding.. But if it comes back can your Dh call & make a fuss? Men are better at this type of thing.

when I had kidney stones mine called doc on call (emergency doc) they never called back, so he bundled me in the car & landed me at A&E.. they opened the doors & took one look at me.. I was ushered right in & given a shot of morphine!! But I still think that if dh hadn't been very vocal about the pain I was in I would have had to wait for hours like everyone else!! I wouldn't lie about pain about anything else though, just in pregnancy as they seem to "wait & see" when all you want is a scan to show everything is ok!

SparklyGothKat · 03/01/2007 11:53

TBH, I just want a scan to check that the baby is in my womb, because I took the MAP I am more aware that I am at a higher risk of an ectopic pregnancy.

SparklyGothKat - I really can appreciate your anxiety at this time as I was in the same position last week. I have just come home from hospital having had an ectopic at 5wks so I can only tell you what I experienced lat week and hope that it will not apply to you and that everything will be fine. I had some occasional light brown spotting and had pelvic cramping that got worse. I went to see my GP who said he could refer me to the oncall Gynae Registrar at my local hospital to get checked out, but that I would have decide whether my pain would be classed as severe in order for him to do this. At the time I thought if I can't decide then it can't be that bad and decided to take the paracetamol he recommended and phone him back later. By the time I got home the pain was terrible and we went back for the refrral and got sent straight to A&E. The Gynae team did U/Sound but couldn't see much as 5wks, but they took Beta HCG alternate days to assess the progress of the pregnancy and for me it wasn't good news. I really hope this doesn't apply to you but if the pain gets worse please seek help.

PinkElephant · 03/01/2007 12:53

and....don't lie about the pain as suggested below - be honest, otherwise it is so hard for them to guess what is happening

SparklyGothKat · 03/01/2007 17:47

pain and bleeding came back, was going to go to A&E when it all stopped again. DH is annoyed with me because he thinks I should go to A&E but I know they will only send me away.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 03/01/2007 19:33

PinkElephant, I had exactly the same experience last few weeks. Sorry, its shit isnt it.

Sparkly, hope you get good news when you get seen xxx

lissielou · 03/01/2007 19:35

please go to a&e, for your own piece of mind really

maisym · 03/01/2007 19:35

hugs sgk xxx

noddyholder · 03/01/2007 19:36

Some a?e's have scanning machines Could you just go and see?

SparklyGothKat · 03/01/2007 19:37

I am feeling ok now, bleeding has stopped and pain has gone. I;m sure it started again because I thought I could go shopping, while carrying the basket, the pain started again. I will just have to take it easy till monday.

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 03/01/2007 19:38

the local A&E doesn;t have a scanner, they made me go back the following day when I miscarriaged before.

If you have taken the moning aftrer pill and get pelvic pain you are supposed to get medical advice

xxx

SparklyGothKat · 03/01/2007 19:43

I have been to the GPs and told him, and also told the EPU but they still won;t see me. I have just been told that if I bleed heavily (which so far I haven;t) or if I get severe pain to go straight to A&E but so far the pain isn't bad, just a dull ache, I can still walk about and I am not doubled up.

OP posts:
popsycal · 03/01/2007 19:45

hope the pain goes and things are ok xx

SparklyGothKat · 03/01/2007 19:46

I mean, I have a panty liner on, not a pad, and its not even soaked with blood, just a tiny amount on it.
