After the inital shock of finding out I am pregnant again, I have started bleeding today. Phoned the emergancy gp and of course he said that it could be a miscarriage, so he tried to get me an appointment at the EPU but noone is there, so I have to phone my gp tomorrow.. I have a very slight pain on my right hand side, and the bleeding is light. I asked about ectopic pregnancy and he said I would be in serevre pain, which I am not.

Sparkly - glad your levels have come down. Mine are also about the same and am having the final one (I hope) taken next week.

Aitch - I am now having the period from hell!! The pain is truely hideous. How soon after having Metho can you take brufren again - are you safe after a week? Paracetamol and hot water bottles are not helping one bit. UUUGh - have never passed so many clots - sorry TMI!!!

sorry, i can't remember... have you posted the question on the ept site? sorry to hear you're having a rough time, as i recall i took to bed for a week and refused to budge. when are you going back to work, have you thought about that yet?

PinkElephant · 10/01/2007 16:55

Aich - thanks that a good idea. Went straight back to work last week. I have a very flexible job as I can work from home some days. Felt if I took time off I'd sit and think about it all day which I couldn't face doing, but having said that I have been taking it very easy.

AitchTwoOhOhSeven · 10/01/2007 16:57

i do understand, in fact i never had so much as a day off work and one day filed copy from my hospital bed on my phone but if you're in a lot of pain then today might be good for a sickie.

You know what!! now I have had time to get my head around everything that has happened the last week, I am angry with hospital, they refused to scan me even when I was in tears with pain, and noone seemed to take my concerns seriously I think a strong letter is needed...

Hi Sparkly - Its an emotional rollor coaster and I'm sure its very normal to feel so angry. Why not write the letter, it will make you feel better as sometimes helps to put it all down on paper. Then you can decide whether to action it or not. You need to contact PALS at your hospital if you want to take action. Its so sad that you were messed around. Do you want answers to your questions or just want to be heard? I obviously had a very different experience to you and I was rushed to the Gynae on call via A&E by my GP and was kept in for 2days until they got a scan and 2 levels of Beta HCG to work from. I was only let home when they decided the pregnancy wasn't viable, my levels weren't rising and that I was suitable for the methotrexate.

i don't think they were brilliant, either. according to the protocol for a suspected ep they don't scan til 6 weeks, but am surprised that they didn't given you were in agony. you might have been wrong about your dates and the ep might have been rupturing... pretty piss poor i reckon.

SparklyGothKat · 12/01/2007 12:27

I need to see my doctor, because I want to know, because the EP was possibly caused by the MAP, wether I am at risk of another at a later date. I suppose that I am because it could have cause some damage to my tube, but because it self resolved they won't know if it did or not without opening me up.
I am just glad that it did self resolve and didn't rupture and I am ok. I think that is why I am not grieving in the same way as before. I am relived that I am ok and so is DH.

there's a thing called an hsg that you can ask for, where they shoot fluid through your tube to check for obstructions. however, i doubt that they'd give you one cos you've 'only' had one ep. i could've had one after my second but i didn't push for it as there is a small risk of infection and with only one tube left i couldn't risk making things worse (so had to risk another ep, hey ho).

thing is, skg, you might never know if your tube is damaged... the next time it might not even go down that tube so it might never matter. we're all at risk of ep, but in a way we are now a bit more protected than the average woman cos we can demand early scans, hcgs etc to monitor us in the beginning.
