9 days late but neg tests.....

Hi,

Im 9 days late and with no cramps. usually my periods are spot on so im confused with this one. Thing is my pregnancy tests have all been Neg. I had a nasty water infection for which i got "pregnancy friendly" anti-biotics for and finished them almost a week ago.

Could this be the reason i am so late?

Does it look hopeful i may be pregnant?

I have been told to go and get a blood test @ the docs but how long does it take for the results?

Many thanks for any advice,

Hello, it is me (MammyMto3kids) got bored with that name......

babylove123 · 14/12/2006 22:14

Hi Pinktinsel, no not that sensitive to smells yet. My mum when she was pregnant said she couldnt stomach the smell of washing up liquid! I cant stand the smell of coffee though recently. Usually i drink that @ work coz we have UHT milk and it tastes foul in tea but i cant stomach the coffee. Think that may have been from when i was sickly from anti-biotics tho rather than pregnant.

Im starting to get a little excited altho the pains today made me doubt it all. I DO hope i am, would be the best thing ever!!! Trying to be realistic tho because i know it could all be over any second!

Hi Paula, doc said i should test in 2 weeks so that'd be 27th and go back if my period hasnt come by 2nd Jan. Made an apt for 27th incase it comes out positive in between

Hi 3D, love the name! Yeh im hoping they're good signs! The taste seems to be worse if i keep my mouth closed. Like if im typing for 5 mins and concentrating, when i go to speak i can taste it. The pains worried me a lot too, they've gone now

If it's any cosolation, when I was pg with ds the smell of coffee had me running to be sick! Big coffee-a-holic usually! Also garlic don't worry about the pains, I was convinced during my first pg that I was going to m/c by learning that it's just normal stretching and what-have-you rested my mind, the more you say, the more it sounds likely..... REALLY hoping that you get the news you want.

BTW, 3Ddonut means: in our house when someone does something daft they're a 'dolly donut' it didn't seem right calling a boy a dolly so he was 'donny donut' was wondering about dd2 (my baby!) when one day ds (2 at the time) said to her 'silly diddy donut!' and so the 3D donuts were born!!!!!

babylove123 · 14/12/2006 23:10

Lmao at the name, thats great! Hey you'll have to give me a lowdown on all the terms like "dh", "ds" etc, "bfn?"..... i know what they mean by the context of the convo but not the technical terms! Think i ought to learn!

This may be too much info but i am a person who suffers with trapped wind alot, usually get pains in chest and stomach but i feel a lot of pressure down in my lower tummy area. Eg, when i go to the loo, the pushing causes a lot of pressure (so sorry if this is too much!) Is that normal?

Yeh pains gone now but they didnt feel like my normal cramps. The back pain is driving me crazy!!! Keep your fingers crossed eh?

3ddonut..... when i went back to my gp for my booking in visit and asked him did the tests often come up neg when someone was positive he just gave me a really weird look and said 'that's never happened to me before in all the years i've been doing this'

worse still when i went to the hospital for my second pregnancy at one of the first appointments the consultant was checking over my notes and casually asked 'so you've had one live birth and one miscarriage is that right?' 'em, no, just one birth doctor' 'oh, i have a brown folder and a white forlder here for you... brown is mç and white is still birth. are you sure' 'i think i'd remember that doctor'

turns out the doctors who'd sent me for the scan had been so sure i'd miscarried they'd filled out all the paperwork and filed it and a new file had been opened when i came for my normal pregnancy appointments and not one of them had realised it was the same pregnancy so there's medical notes somewhere that technically say dd is dead.... charming eh?

babylove123 · 14/12/2006 23:28

Pinktinsel, thats terrible! I changed docs in the last 2 months because my doc was horrible. Everything i went for he'd blame it on being overweight. anything from ear infections to bloody backache! Drove me crazy! Changed docs and now have to lovliest doc who listens to me and actually cares. The NHS isnt what it used to be i dont think........

OP posts:
3Ddonut · 14/12/2006 23:39

pinktinsel that's horrendous! Some docs are so technical that they totally miss the fact that they're dealing with real people!!!

Babylove, there's a list somewhere, dh is dear husband, ds is dear son and BFN is big fat negative!!!!!! You'll find yourself 'talking MN' at real people soon!!!!! Maybe it's like a secret code if someone says 'my dh is so and so' you'll know they;re a MNetter too!!!!!!

babylove123 · 15/12/2006 08:11

Thanks 3D, i shall learn the lingo , except i dont have a dh, dd or ds, lol! I've had plenty of BFN's tho!!!

Have a good day, its my works xmas lunch today. Dont have to worry about the no drinking though because im driving

Hi Babylove!

Have a lovely lunch! I thought you were married? You have a dp then?!! I'm in for a fun day, two children with ear infections, a dodgy car and it's raining!!!!!

babylove123 · 15/12/2006 15:02

hi 3D,

No not married. Discussed the marriage thing but decided we'd rather put the money to better things like the pram i have my eye on!!!

I expect your day is going like mine then, not fun! Lunch was awful! Was last 2 turn up half an hr late coz boss wldnt let me out and the mushroom pasta was soooo yuck (nearly sick!) Then they passed coffee round! was ok actually but maybe because i put so much sugar in!

Off to do some shopping! Eeek!

Awww, what a shame! Sorry to hear that your Christmas party was crap (well they traditionally are aren't they?!) Day didn't turn out quite as bad as I suspected, we painted cardboard boxes to make into present costumes! and then they had a nice bath (although it did dissolve into whinging and crying!) Never mind, tomorrow's another day!

babylove123 · 15/12/2006 21:38

Hey 3D, well i think this xmas party took the biscuit incl beating my boss going into labour at last yrs!!! Her daughter was there today, awww i just wanted to cuddle her and i said "i want one!" my warm motherly thoughts wouldnt leave me alone!!!

Glad your day was ok, better than expected!

3Ddonut · 16/12/2006 21:24

It's perfectly fine to lie on your tummy, I was v worried about this in my first pg and avoided it entirely (like you I prefer to lie on my tummy) with my 2nd, someone, I think Midwife, told me it was Ok, sorry, not sure about the pains, only thing I would say is during pg you get odd pains and aches all over, I went to the mat day unit on several occ. with severe side pain, which was deemed to be 'muscular' try not too worry. have you done another test yet?

babylove123 · 16/12/2006 21:40

Hey 3D, thanks for the comments, appreciate them I can understand the backache but was worried about the pains. Cramps gone and now just weird pains in top left side (poss ovaries). If i was ovulating, i wldnt have had cramps before?! Weird! Hey, do you have msn? Decorative and i are talking on there and its great!

did a test yesterday, restraining myself till Tues now!

Well im bored so i just took a "so you think you're pregnant test" and below are the results....

Quiz Results

It's possible your symptoms indicate pregnancy! The next step is to take a home pregnancy test. If you suspect that you're pregnant, see your health-care provider.

Not bad!

PinkTinsel · 17/12/2006 23:06

are you sure it's ovaries and not stretching pains babylove? i got hideous stretching pains with my dd for the first half of the pregnancy.

babylove123 · 17/12/2006 23:11

Not sure. Dont think my right 1 was ovary pain. I have a pain in my lower right side which docs arent sure what it is (had it b4) and think its that. As for the left, its stopped now. Cld be stretching because i hear that if you get pg, you get pains the side you ov'd from as the placenta grows there......not sure. Hoping so! Had 2 long lay ins this weekend so cant sleep now but feeling refreshed

babylove123 · 18/12/2006 10:59

Well day 16 and still no af. did a test this morn and BFN i dont know whether to still be positive coz my doc said not to test till i wld be 8 weeks (wld only be 6 1/2 @the mo)......but why arent the tests positive?! Argh! Should i resign myself to my cycle having had a "blip"?!

OP posts:
PinkTinsel · 18/12/2006 11:49

are you using the same brand of test every time?

i found a first response gave me a faint positive at 10 weeks with ds. i tested first thing in the morning too

wannaBeOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 18/12/2006 14:26

babylove, tbh it sounds to me as if the pain in your left side could be ovulation pain. also, if you are in any way bloated this could be water retention from your absent period. I know this could be TMI but what's your cervical fluid been like? have you had the ewcm you would generally get before ovulation? and if so has this now got less as generally does after ovulation? 15 days post what should have been your period is a normal time to have ovulated so the pains would tie in with that.

I know this is maybe not what you want to hear, but try not to get excited and please try and think more along the lines of that you are not pregnant rather than that you are iyswim. If you are pregnant then it will be very exciting when you get your bfp, but if you're not pregnant and you've convinced yourself that you are, then the disappointment will be overwhelming. better to hope for the best but expect the best IMO.

luckymummy2sophie · 18/12/2006 20:09

wannabeontopofthechristmastree - I'm inclined to agree with you. I know it sounds negative babylove, but I think it's better that you don't get your hopes up too much, just in case. As you know from my previous post, I know exactly what you're going thru , having been there several times last year myself. I know it's nice to have that hope, but try not to get too excited. I'm sorry to sound negative, I can just remember very clearly how it feels to be convinced that I was, only then to get my AF a few weeks later. The longest I went was SIX weeks late. My cycles were every 10 weeks at some points. I hope you get the news you want. I will keep watching the thread with interest.
