9 days late but neg tests.....

Hi,

Im 9 days late and with no cramps. usually my periods are spot on so im confused with this one. Thing is my pregnancy tests have all been Neg. I had a nasty water infection for which i got "pregnancy friendly" anti-biotics for and finished them almost a week ago.

Could this be the reason i am so late?

Does it look hopeful i may be pregnant?

I have been told to go and get a blood test @ the docs but how long does it take for the results?

Many thanks for any advice,

See there is still hope. I'm glad it wasn't a no.

MammyMto3kids · 13/12/2006 19:07

Glad to hear that your doc was so good, some GP's are so uncaring!!! Just keep hold of the positive vibe!!!! I was telling my Mum about you a couple of days ago, she really feels for you! She also had to wait quite a while for confirmation, about 10 - 12 weeks was normal back then! I'm going to keep checking this thread and hope that if you want to talk about anything, news or not, that you will.

MammyMto3kids · 13/12/2006 19:09

Babylove, I hope I didn't offend you by mentioning your age... I do understand that this is what you want and are ready for, and I did mean for it to be encouraging but now see the error of my ways, so sorry.

babylove123 · 13/12/2006 19:19

Hi Paula,

Yeh im holding onto the glimmer of hope! Starting to get some symptoms (i think!) I hear lower back pain can happen, mines very achy and feels very weak if that makes sense? Im quite a strong person and it feels like i cant hold anything properly. Also, SO tired! Have been cramming a lot in recently so think thats contributed but im so exhausted that i closed my eyes at work today and ended up in that "dream zone" that you go in before actually going to sleep - bad move!

Mammymto - dont worry. I get on the defensive quite fast, suppose i've heard those words in a negative view too much. Everyone has been so supportive here that i dont think of you in any negative way. I just feel that as i am "younger", you tend to get taken a lot less seriously and i do think its unfair. Its like all of us teenagers/young adults get grouped together and yeh you get the ones that go off the rails a bit and get themselves pregnant for the wrong reasons and i just feel like i keep being dragged into it. Anyway, no harm done and i do value your support, so thank you

Right, heres a Q that i can use my lack of knowledge as an excuse for...!

As you know, i am waiting to find out if im pregnant. Thing is, if im not, i dont wanna miss this months ovulation (if it'll bloody happen!). Ok, is it safe to "BD" if you're pregnant. I know that technically "yes" but if anyone out there is like me, if i was to BD and end up bleeding shortly after, i would blame myself and feel i'd caused it. Let me know what you think

babylove- it is codswollop about the blood test -about there been no such thing, My doc gave me a blood test 3 weeks ago to find out how far gone I was as we werent sure on the dates. the results came back and they gave a a 3week range... soyou can have blood tests done it took 2 days for my results to come back. I am certain it is the HCG hormone they measure again. I also have a friend who has to have the blood test to confirm a pg as she always shows positive on a test (even when not always... for some unknown reason.. causes by here disa bility.)

sorry if a bit mumbled but hope it helps.

And fingers crossed that you get the result you want very very soon. lots of baby dust your way..
By the way I was 20 when I had my first... great age. I am nearly 31 and on my 3rd now!)

MammyMto3kids · 13/12/2006 20:09

Yes, you can still BD while pg, it's always a fear, everything changes for a while, but it's perfectly safe, I do understand your apprehensions.

btw, if it makes any difference, I was 24 when I had my first and not married, I look (not my view) a lot younger, I'm 29 now and people at work were suprised to hear that I was pg, not only pg, but with my 3rd and married (now!) because they thought I 'wasn't old enough' it's infuriating, so sorry, but I can sympathise!!!! Glad to hear that you won't hold it against me!

babylove123 · 13/12/2006 20:10

Hi twoplusone,

I'd love to be like you, 31 is a great age to have 3!

I spoke to my doc about the blood test. Apparently new regs means they're only supposed to do urine tests so he explained its identical to using your own test so he tends not to bother. He did say if my period didnt come by 2nd Jan, he'll send the bloods off. Apparently last time he did it he got his wrists slapped! Hes really nice

Hi mammy, im glad you understand my apprehensions, was worried!

I think i look younger than i actually am too, plus im short which doesnt bloody help! Sometimes i think to myself "man im only 20!" but then i see babies and go "aww i cant wait to be a mum!" lol! Of course i wont hold it against you, there never was anything to hold against u!

i was also unmarried with my first- she was unplanned... (hate saying that that) but never unwanted. unfortunatly me and her dad seperated when she was 18 months but i now have the best hubby in the world.. my kids are 10 years, 2years and embryo...

PinkTinsel · 13/12/2006 20:21

babylove, i went to the doc not having tested but presuming i was pregnant because i was a month late and having symptoms. he did a test and it came up neg, luckily my doc is logical enough to know that if i said my period hadn't come and i was throwing up that even if i wasn't pregnant it needed checking out so he sent me for a hospital appointment the next day.

at the hospital they did a urine test.... neg, and internal exam...'i can't feel a baby', blood tests.... inconclusive. so they said 'you've probably miscarried, we'lll need to scan you to check'. went to scan room the next day and they tried a normal tummy scan.... no baby in sight so they offered me an internal scan, i was desperate at this point, said yes and lo and behold 'yes there's a baby there, you're 10 weeks gone!'

she's 22 months now and as awkward in every aspect of her life since!

babylove123 · 13/12/2006 20:29

Hi twoplus,

Congratulations on the newbie, wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy! Ah i hate that "un-planned" thing too....im not letting onto my work that it'll be planned so im going with "happy accident"

Ah pinktinsel, i live in hope that im the same as you! im not sure what to think but if im not pregnant, i will want something investigated which hes agreed. (sighs from her backache!)

OP posts:
twoplusone · 13/12/2006 20:36

i do feel for you babylove.. cant you go back to the docs say it is stressing you out which if you are pg isnt goos. So couldnt they send you for an investigative scan.....
you must be going out of your mind.. poor love...

as I said chin up. take care

babylove123 · 13/12/2006 20:51

He wont do anything till 2 weeks later. He said it can take some women 8 weeks to show positive. Thing is, thats going to take me to around 27th Dec, not sure if they're open. I supposed to be going away but i think it is more important so might book myself an appointment.

Yeh going a bit skitz but in a way, just waking up and thinking "oh well, not bleeding, thats good"......
