9 days late but neg tests.....

Hi,

Im 9 days late and with no cramps. usually my periods are spot on so im confused with this one. Thing is my pregnancy tests have all been Neg. I had a nasty water infection for which i got "pregnancy friendly" anti-biotics for and finished them almost a week ago.

Could this be the reason i am so late?

Does it look hopeful i may be pregnant?

I have been told to go and get a blood test @ the docs but how long does it take for the results?

Many thanks for any advice,

Babylove there are loads of posts from the past off mums on MN who had BFNs for ages although they were infact PG. I really hopethis is the case for you.

Uki · 12/12/2006 09:11

hey babylove
did you use first morning wee, for your tests. After years of testing it's my one tried and true tip. good luck

babylove123 · 12/12/2006 09:12

Hi Merrymeg,

Thats a lovely comment, thank you i'm keeping my fingers crossed. If i am pg, it means my cycle was over the shop but i wouldnt complain! Im hoping its 5th time lucky!

Hi UKI,

Yes i did thank you. I bought some tests off ebay (they're the ones with the registration on them) but used my clear blue yest morning. Not the digital one tho, do u think that'd be worth tryin tomorrow?

one thing i did quickly want to ask/post before i go to work is that am i being stupid for living in hope? What i mean is that people i have spoken to have said "oh u'll know when you're actually pregnant" or "oh, your test is neg so you cant be". If people have had the same response but actually are pregnant, then there is a possibility that im one of those right?

Sorry, its just i dont really have anyone i can talk to about it and everyone i am talking to are quite negative to me so shld i take hope in my progress? Being realistic of course!

Thanks xx

With this PG I did a cheapy test first and it was negative, so did a tescos own and there was a very faint line. Went to get it confirmed at my chemist they performed it on a cheapy test and it was negative, although I just knew I was PG so I told the chemist I would buy a CB digital take it home and if it was positive would he confirm it which he did

So it really can depend on the test. Does you CB digi have the "can test 4 days early" in the corner of the box?

MerryMegandSnowySoph · 12/12/2006 09:30

Of course you aren't silly for hoping!

((((((( hugs))))))))

with dd2 I did two tests every day for a week all negative, but untill I came on I didn't belive the tests. Did one on a saturday morning still neg. Came back from bingo saturday night did a clear blue ( digi's weren't around then) it was positive. You just don't know petal and you haven't had an AF to say otherwise.

MerlinsBeard · 12/12/2006 09:44

babylove, I don't think you are daft for hoping.

I haven't anything to add taht hasn't already been said only to say that i am another who is a week late and had neg tests so you're not alone

Hope you get the news you want very soon x

paulaplumpbottom · 12/12/2006 10:33

Until its absolutly 100% positive that you are not pregnant there is always hope.

babylove123 · 12/12/2006 17:14

Hi Merrymeg,

Yeh the digital is the one with the 4 days early, do u think i shld use it tomorrow? Cant hurt (well, only the wallet!) I like bingo btw and im only 20!

Hi mumofmonsters.......like your name! Nice to hear (in a non selfish horrible way) that you're in the same boat as me. Do you think you're pregnant?

Paulaplumpbottom, thanks for your comments

Hi Babylove,

There's nothing wrong with hoping! Ignore those people who say you will just 'know' it's rubbish! I'm wondering if I'm pg with my 4th, my 3rd is only 6months old and I don't 'know' every pregnancy is different anyway. I'm sure you'll have heard of those people who didn't know they were pg until labour! So there!!! I'm still thinking of you and still sending out POSITIVE vibes!!!!! Good luck! Let us know any news or come to chat if you need to!!! BtW is this your first???

paulaplumpbottom · 12/12/2006 20:09

You'll have to let us know!!!!!!!

MerlinsBeard · 12/12/2006 21:26

honestly babylove? i don't know, i really hope i am as had m/c in june and coming up to my due date but prob just eth stress of this time of year

luckymummy2sophie · 12/12/2006 21:27

two things to say to you babylove123,

  1. I was TTC for a year and had 3 'phantom pregnancies' where I was late (sometimes 4 weeks late) and convinced I was pregnant, convinced my boobs were bigger and sore, convinced I felt sick etc, only to keep getting neg tests. Eventually I came on each time. It was truelly the most miserable time of my life, I wanted to be pregnant so much, all my friends kept announcing their pregnancies, it was awful. I was told that sometimes, when you REALLY want to be pg, your mind can play tricks and give you pregnancy symptoms. How cruel. I cried buckets last year. I eventually fell after just over a year of trying and my delightful dd is now 7 mths old. She is such a good baby that I always say she was worth the wait.
  1. My friend was TTC for about 6 mths, was late, kept testing but was neg. Eventually gave up testing, but still didn't come on. She is due in May next year!!

I hope that gives you a balanced view!!
I really hope that you are pregnant, I remember how hard these times are. Lots of love XXXX

babylove123 · 12/12/2006 22:09

Hi Mammymto, yeh this will be my first but im glad you're dispelling the myth of the whole "know" thing. It justs make me think "if i am pregnant and dont know then im an awful mum".... I guess i get judged a lot because of my age. I find myself exlpaining to ppl that im not a stupid child, i am an adult and looking forward to having a home and a family for the rest of my life. Good luck if you're pregnant by the way. Not that i'd be jealous at all.....

Paulaplump, i will let you know as soon as i know anything! My docs apt is in the morn and im hoping hes gonna shed some light on it. I gotta admit, i will be crushed if im not but i am more worried about what it could be now so i just want it answered.

Mumofmonsters, im so sorry to hear of your m/c, i can only imagine how heartbreaking that must be. I do hope you're too, maybe we could have a joint party! Shouldnt jinx it should i!

Luckymummy, aw your name says so much I've had that whole phantom thing too! Its a real crap way to spend your life, i've had it about 3 times in 2 half yrs. The month before last i was convinced i was coz i had morning sickness and the whole load of symptoms but then bled 4 days later. Im wondering whether this time its for real and im not getting any symptoms coz my mind cant make them up. Hoping my apt will sort it out. Who bets i post 2morro ranting about how crap it went!!!

Positive thoughts to everyone

paulaplumpbottom · 13/12/2006 10:28

I've been sending you my good wishes all morning. I hope it goes your way !!!!!

mustrunmorenakedthroughthesnow · 13/12/2006 10:32

how bizarre that I came on here when this thread was on active convos! i'm 10 days over, and dh made me do a test yesterday. Negative (we breathed a sigh of relief as having another would be a nightmare for us). Although I'm still a bit worried TBH. Eek.

wannaBeOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 13/12/2006 10:53

babylove, you're not silly for hoping but please please keep in mind that it's possible you are not pregnant. in April of this year I had a similar experience, there's a thread about it somewhere which I will try to locate and post but basically after a year of trying I skipped a period, had simptoms, metalic taste in mouth, sicky feeling after eating certain things, even had what felt like a little bump, but all tests were neg. After a week I went to gp and she said that it happens sometimes that tests are negative, but to assume I am pregnant and to do a test in two weeks and that, in her words, "I'll eat my hat if it's not positive". So after two weeks I did a test and it was bfn, so went back to gp, and she arranged a blood test, blood was sent to hospital, who promptly sent back the form saying that they no longer test blood for pregnancy as a urine sample should be sufficient, to do a urine test, and if it comes back negative then I am not pregnant. By this time I was three weeks late, and although part of me was trying to be realistic, there was a part of me that wanted to tell the world I was pregnant, had even worked out my due date etc. and then, 28 days after my missed period was due, my period came. no pregnancy, no baby, no bfp, and no explanation as to why it happens, was told that sometimes, we just skip a period for no reason - could have just been an anovulatory cycle - this does happen to most of us from time to time). That was in April and we've still not conceived, and every month I'm a bit late I wonder if I'm going to have another month like that and it's horrible.

I will keep my fingers crossed that things work out for you xx

lazyemma · 13/12/2006 11:41

that's so sad, wannabe. I hope you get the news you want soon.

MammyMto3kids · 13/12/2006 13:40

Hi Babylove, thinking of you today, hope you get the news you want please bear in mind that you're only young and if it doesn't happen this time, you've got a lot of time to conceive, it so often happens that when you take your mind of it, it happens, why???????? btw, tested this morning, BFN, AF not due til tomorrow though.

babylove123 · 13/12/2006 16:34

Hi Guys,

Just got back from work. Well im not really further on but it put my mind to rest a bit. Doc said that if i was pregnant, i'd be about 6 weeks and 95% of ppl obv have a pos pregnancy test. He said it is poss not to show till 8 weeks so to test again in 2 weeks. He said if my period doesnt come on its next due date (2nd Jan), to go back and he'll investigate. He was really good though and checked me over and ruled out an ectopic pregnancy which put my mind to ease

I know it would have to be a miracle for me to actually be pregnant but i can live in realistic hope!

Mumofmonsters, hope you have a lovely Christmas and look forward to talking to you again soon.

Thanks paula, well it didnt go my way but it didnt go wrong either so i cant complain!

Mustrun, hope you get the answers you need soon, sending thoughts to you

Hi wannabe, honestly i am being 100% realistic and just taking every day on its own. I do hope we both get the results we want soon!

Hi Mammymto, yeh i know im young but its still hard! I always wanted a family etc and now is just so the right time for my partner and i, we're so excited! Oooh keep me posted on the tests!
