I'm Irish and have never heard of Kai as an Irish name - I've just looked up 5 of the most popular Irish name sites as well and it's nowhere to be found. My only thing when it comes to names is make sure you can pronounce it properly if it's not of your own culture - I have struggled to keep a straight face sometimes when people swear that their children's names are Irish.

snap on both counts snowy.... mispronounced 'irish' names are a pet peeve ot mine too and tbh debbsy i really don't think it is irish. is the baby book one of 'celtic' names by any chance? coz celtic doesn't mean irish, it covers most of north western europe

no its the top irish baby name book with the green cover.Oh who gives a monkeys you get dogs called all sorts of names.We still like it.
