expat and mtt.....lol @ Merlin and Orion...dh wanted es to be Merlin, and ms to be Orion
they still ended up with unvonventional names (well for over here, lol)
BTW, I know a beautyful young woman of the name Harley, and I know a cute lil boy called Kaden

Tutter · 30/11/2006 17:28

anothre one here who only likes james i'm afraid

3andnomore · 30/11/2006 17:28

oh and what I meant earlier...Kai James, it doesn't sound good together...I htink a 2 syllabub (sp?) name would be better, iykwim

SecondhandRose · 30/11/2006 17:29

I'd go more traditional for the first name and go mad with the middle name.

Kittypickle · 30/11/2006 17:31

James

Dont want anything to traditional im afraid
we like Kai James and the surname is like a first name Oliver so it does go.
Who said they were Chav names quite cross at that as me and dh are not Chav in anyway shape or for Malory we just want something a bit different. In Asda today there was a little boy called Stanley!!
We also like Ethan and Ashton but they are getting too common now.
thanks everyone for your input

munz · 30/11/2006 19:43

personally I liked kai, DH hated it. but I do know a lucas and he's lovely. I actually love that name now out of all or youer selections! I guess then you coiuld call him LJ! lol.

tbh thou not sure if u remember but J was going to be a Jake right up until the day before he was born and I went off of it. so you never know bibby might not look like a kai.

lol. yes we do, or JoJoe! lol. it was just the assumption I didn't like u know cos folks assumed that was our reasoning - not there's anything wrong with that, althou my nan bless her said yep good solid name that one! lol - WTF what's a solid name! lol.

Debbsyandbibby · 30/11/2006 19:49

y megg whats your ds called ?
true true i would never be insulting though on a thread to someone which i think chav is a little (must be my hormones) lol.
yes i remember munz just waiting to see what he looks like. When the little tyke decides he wants to come out,Ive been talking to him today and stroking him and asking to come out his response a good kick in the ribs -im fine in here thank you mummy its nice and cosy

munz · 30/11/2006 19:51

lol. yes you made my bed mummy and i'll come out of it when i'm ready!

J has a playmatew called Cohan not sure if that would sway you,

cohan James O ooh no actually bit too close to CJD that one init! lol (althou J's are JPM bit close to JPS the fag brand! lol)

poppynic · 30/11/2006 19:52

Oh, like the Irish meaning of Kai - would sought our forthcoming bub too - but you really, honestly couldn't live in NZ with Kai for a first name.

I've been looking for a one syllable first name too. I'm keen on Heath but dp has so far vetoed it.

I've always liked Daniel but have suddenly gone off it .

DS1 is Patrick - so thanks Lockets.

Debbsyandbibby · 30/11/2006 19:55

lol munz no cohan reminds me of cohan the barbarian.
poppy i like Heath but again my dh doesnt.

NotSoupyOhNoNoNoShesOnABreak · 30/11/2006 19:56

Lucas. Goes well with James as a middle name IMHO.

Harely sounds like he's named after the bike nothing wrong with that if he is named after it I guess but he will go through life with the question "After the bike?" ringing in his ears
Kaydon sounds made up - is it? What's it's origin?
Kai - not sure on this one.

But hey, if we all called our children the same thing it would be a nightmare Boys names are a complete and utter nightmare.

munz · 30/11/2006 20:01

deffo soupy they are,

I liked Jayden but again DH said no. lol. didn't think of cohan the bararian! lol. another for us (me) was harvey, or harrision, althou gald I didn't pick those as in the que at asda some lady was shouting 'oi harrison geerrr over 'erre, ooi 'arvey cummmm ere to' wasn't very plesant to hear. lol.

(no offence to anyone intended who talks like that/has those names! lol)

is it indian? I think my friend thought it was an old welsh naem! oh well!

ted/dy is a good 'solid name' lol. in fact 2 of my uncles were called ted/dy - we had big ted and little ted - I kid you not!lol. father and son.

Debbsyandbibby · 30/11/2006 20:08

Soupy Harley would be a tribute sort of to his dad as he is a motocrossing british champion.

sammac · 30/11/2006 20:13

Kai has other meanings too- Scandanavian means victorious, and in Hawaii it means ocean(so I've been told)

My ds is Kai too and have never met another one(and he's 5 today!) His middle name is a traditional one(after dh) and we have a long Scottish surname, so a short name was required. Dh grew up beside a Kai, and always thought it a good name.
ps dd has a short 3 letter name too.

Good luck with whatever you choose, 5 years on, I'm still pleased with it.

janeite · 30/11/2006 20:33

I like Lucas and James. Don't like the others, sorry.
