thank you Jabber so do we and Harley.

noddyholder · 04/12/2006 09:44

All a bit britney spears really apart from James which always sounds nice.Lucas is the best of the others although I don't think 'different'is neccesarily good What about Luke James?

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 04/12/2006 09:54

Brittany has not named any of her children after the names i have said yes we quite like Luke too

MrsArchieTheInventor · 04/12/2006 09:59

Joshua, Thomas, Samuel and Joseph of course.

I also like the name Elliott for a boy too but that goes back to my teenage years and a crush I had on the singer of Def Leppard, Joe Elliott. I thought it would be too corny and too obvious that I named my son after the surname of a rock singer, so I named him Joseph instead!

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 04/12/2006 10:01

Elliot was my favourite boys name ever and i always said i would call my lb that name but my sil called her daughter my niece Ellie so we cant really have Ellie and Elliot i was a bit disappointed at that but never mind.

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 10:29

I've got a James Rowan. So I like those names particularly.(Started to regret using both of our fav boys names in one go when I went to my 20wk scan this time!!)
I'm personally saving Finn for my next(if there is one) boy and I'm currently struggling to find a boys name for DS22B.(Got a first name but need a celtic/irish middle one!)

Boys are a nightmare to name!!!!!!!

Good luck!!!

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 04/12/2006 10:50

what about connal or conner?

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 04/12/2006 10:51

Spina i have an irish baby name book ill post it to you if you like.

munz · 04/12/2006 10:52

I like connor.

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 04/12/2006 10:53

i like conner too dh doesnt grrrr

jabberwocky · 04/12/2006 11:17

Adore celtic names too. We just named ds2 Kiernan.

PinkTinsel · 04/12/2006 11:18

i live in ireland and i've never heard of Kai, not even in the old irish celtic tales so i'd be dubious about that, more people are going to know the maori meaning tbh.

kaydon is a pretentious made uppy name, not keen

harley is ok but he'd really hav to suit it to pull it off and tbh, i've heard more girls called it than boys. if your calling hiom after a bike you might as well go with suzuki!

lucas is nice, very popular though. not that that would put me off, dd is the sedond most popular girls name for about the tenth year running but it suits her

i love ethan really love it.

Riley,Dathan,Jevan,Eshton emmmmmmmmmm, no!

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 11:19

Thanks! I've got an Irish/celtic book too. It's mainly getting DH to realise the potential of some of the names I love!!

We're planning to give DS22B a really normal first name and the middle name will only be used at his wedding or civil partnership celebration or whatever he has! So I really want something cool! No major need to worry about school friends as if needs be he can always pretend that we didn't give him a middle name! DS1 dosn't feel it necessary for his little brother to have a middle name even though he's got one!!

spinasnowflake · 04/12/2006 11:23

Actally like the name "Cian" despite the Westlife connections! But,along with our chosen first namw, that would mean giving DS the name of one of my exes cos his surname was Keane! Except I keep forgetting that and pondering "why don't we use Cian?"

Must try to remember when we name him!!!

Sorry I'm "tangenting".

PinkTinsel · 04/12/2006 11:24

but cian and keene aren't pronounced the same

key-anne = cian
keen = keene

jabberwocky · 04/12/2006 11:39

I like the American Kyan - "Kie' an"

Pinktinsel, as I stated earlier Kai has Welsh origins and is also Hawaiian fot Ocean. Beautiful name.

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 04/12/2006 11:41

hmmm quite like kian
kai is irish pink tinsel and it means son of the firey one.Kaydon isnt a made up name either it means friend companion and harley would be significant to his dad who is a national mx rider.Oh i dont bloody know every name i pick someone has something to say about it but spose thats the way it is with names even my mum is being quite critical if you analyse them too much you can ridicule any name i think.

PinkTinsel · 04/12/2006 11:49

don't ask a question about names if you don't like people critisising them!

at the end of the day you and your ds will have to live with it so pick whichever one you honestly like best and brace yourself for years of mispronounciation and 'how do you spell that?' 'oh, that's unusual ' and just plain outright jaw dropping and 'oh...... lovely'

(welsh definitely sounds more likely )

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 04/12/2006 11:58

not having a go wish i had never started this thread.Just getting more AND more confused

Gingerbear · 04/12/2006 12:00

How about

Barry
Garry
Larry

mark my words, they will be back in fashion very soon.

Gingerbear · 04/12/2006 12:02

There are lots of Kais, Kians and Kaydons around here btw.

I like old fashioned names. It is a very personal choice though D&B, so go with your own choice.

PinkTinsel · 04/12/2006 12:06

whatever you choose will 'fit' your baby and after the initial reaction people won't think much of it so just pick whatever you and dh love and ignore anyone who gives an opinion! i told hardly anyone what we were calling our and once they were born and named most people weren't outright rude

(btw, did your dh agree to cut down the biking or are you all caravaning with mil?)

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 04/12/2006 12:13

ermmm no ginger thanks anyway
the biking has become a very taboo subject i have said nothing so we will see i do think about it though.Im just going to wait and see im a week overdue now seeing mw for sweep today been having contractions for over a week and had a rush to hospital on weds after having contractions for 7 hours at every 5 mins but they didnt get any closer together.

noddyholder · 04/12/2006 12:25

I don't know what britneys names are exactly but they do sound like some of those!I think kai is a welsh name isn't it?

PinkTinsel · 04/12/2006 12:31

poor you, my first was like that too. hope something happens soon.
