lol Debs....boysneams are a pain in teh backside!
With es he was first to be called Daniel, until I found out, at my scan, that I truely was carrying a boy, and suddenly I didn't want that anme anymore, lol....we then liked Leon, but someone else had a Baby a few month before us, and they called their lil boy Leon, so, didn't want to look like a copy cat, lol....on our final list for him were Noah (wish dh would have pulled that one out of the hat, as that was how we made our decision, put all the names in a hat and he picked it, lol), Scott and Sven, and somehting else which I can't recall now, and he pulled out Sven!Inbetween me trying to find a nice name we could agree on, lol...my hubbies constant suggestion was Merlin....errrr...no...old Wizard springs to mind, lol!
With ms I tried him with Noah again, but still didn't like it, then suddenly had the brainwave and asked if he still liked the name Yannic (after es was born, I came across my namebook and said, jokingly, hm, if we have another boy then maybe Yannic would be a good name, and he said he liked that name)...now there is 6 1/2 years between es and ms, so, couldn't be sure..but yup he still liked it!Oh, dh inbetween choosing the name came out with Orion...yeah...that would have worked if we had called es Merlin, rofl....!
With Ys, we were pondering names, or I was and dh was making disgusted noises of his usual disagreement, sigh....and had almost decided on Frederik...and well...people either said...yuk...or cool, a lil Freddie (which then put me off the make, I hate shortened names, lol, but knew it was gonna happen, sigh)...dh then had NO suggestions at all, so, I wrote down 3 names that I liked and he choose the one he hated, the least, lol....the list contained Noah, Dominic and Flynn...lol! I knew he would choose Flynn, as I knew that he couldn't stand the other 2 names
For us there was the added issue that we wanted the firstnames to be pronounced exactly the same in german and english!
Oh and how about Liam? Or Murray? Ciaran? Declan?Eric? Eion? Owen? Eoin? Keegan?Levi?Regan?

chelle479 · 01/12/2006 20:42

i love the name Mason

rantinghousewife · 01/12/2006 21:12

The thing is you could think of a name then when bubs is born, you might change your mind. When dd was born, if she was a girl she was gonna be Louise. But when she came out she just didn't LOOK like a Louise, so we thought up something on the spur of the moment. You just go with whatever makes an impression, don't you. BTW Kai IS a proper name (for all those on here who doubt it), it's not a name I would have thought of but I like it but then a little boy who went to nursery with dd is called Kai, and he's an absolute darling. So I may be biased but I'm with you on that one.

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 01/12/2006 21:16

thank you ranting it means son of the fiery one and in another book the black haired one which is very apt both meanings.

rantinghousewife · 01/12/2006 21:53

You're welcome, hope the birth goes well!! Beautiful meanings btw.

expatinscotland · 01/12/2006 21:58

Aragorn. Legolas. Frodo.

Those are unusual.

Blu · 01/12/2006 22:18

Not Dathan. You will sound as if you have a permanent cold and can't say Nathan.

IMO all these names beginning with 'K' will be the waynes and traceys of their day (in terms of defining an era - not a character comment in any way). HALF of DS's class have names beginning with K

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 01/12/2006 22:33

lol expat
blu dh has thrown dathan right out

whatwouldjesusdo · 01/12/2006 22:35

Legolas would be called Legoland or Legobricks at school.

moljam · 01/12/2006 22:37

i love the name joseph.i have 2 ds and neither are josephs!and toby.

Blu · 01/12/2006 22:38

I do sympathise, Bibby.
Everything starts to sound the same in the ned as names go round in your head.

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 01/12/2006 22:42

tell me about it lol

munz · 02/12/2006 07:48

are you after somehting relgious or unusual?

we(I) also had:

caleb
Noah
Jonah
Korbin
Baylee (to which DH stated we should also have 2 girls called tia and maria to make the teachers think we were alkis

DH liked (notice any trends!) lol.

Joshua
Jack
Jake

Joseph was one we had before we found out he was going to be a little boy, and was sort of well it's nice it's sticking but we're not sure type of a name. then we picked Jake but I kept thinking of the tweenies so was Joesph.

munz · 02/12/2006 07:49

failing that think of what you'd like the name to mean and look it up that way sort of backwards! lol.

notasheep · 02/12/2006 07:53

Think Kai will be that Jack has become-it wont be unusual, know 2 kais here.

Lucas makes me think of car parts for some reason.

James is strong and lovely

There are three boys at our school called Jasper, Finn and Monty which I rather like. Especially Monty.

They are really nice boys too.

CranberryJelley · 04/12/2006 00:10

DS was nameless until he was 6 weeks old.

K names are very popular. I know boys called Kai, Keyan, and Kayden, all in my street! OK if you want popular ...

I like James, but none of the others tbh.
