I have ov'd but not getting pregnant... I have decided to take a cycle off to try and relax and devote myself to the gym (Muay Thai Training).... Hopefully everything will work out soon... I will be trying something called Alli (Orlistat) supposed to be really good to help loose the weight... so ima try and get to that now...

stac14 · 27/05/2009 18:34

I am already on orlistat, is your GP prescribing it or are you buying it from the chemist? Be aware of the side effects as it can be really bad lol but I have lost around 2st but I would advise you add exercise as the diet alone wont shift it lol
I dont understand the way they have shown your levels is it progesterone? when my progesterone levels were 0.8 I was told I hadnt ov'd, last month they were 21.9 which indicates ovulation xxx

rugama · 27/05/2009 19:19

No prescription, I check it out on a website for PCOS and happen to find it.

Bought it yesterday kinda expensive but o well.. and yes, I will be working out and taking the pills seens i decided to take a cycle off to really dedicate time to the gym.

and the results are the blood pregnancy results not the progesterone so far i did ovulate I was almost at 10. for progesterone ....

How long have you been taking allie and how much did you loose...

That's why I was confused. Why are you having hCG tests every month? Especially as you are not pregnant? From that, I thought you'd had a BFP but things weren't going so well.

Alli, Orlistat and Xenical are the same meds. To save the expense, you should see if your GP or consultant will prescribe it for you. I don't take it because the side effects are a bit dire.

stac I forgot to say... I had a blood test 2 weeks ago, to re-test my thyroid levels. It came back 'normal - no further action required' xx

rugama · 28/05/2009 00:26

Let me explain my cycles a lil..

I take femara days 3-7 on the 11th day I make an appt for a ultrasound to check follicles sizes sometimes I have to go in atleast 3-4 or maybe less. if my follicles are at 18mm i receive my trigger shot and I
have to check the progesterone to make sure ov'd happened (week after ovulation)
hpt blood test 15days later from date of ovulation also taking metformin.

I hope I am not forgetting anything... it was the same with clomid..... although clomid worked faster on the growth of the follicle with femara I had to go 4x... (first cycle on femara)

stac14 · 28/05/2009 10:28

Hey Rugma
Wow you seem to be going through loads, thats why I didnt understand the levels and as you say anything above ten means ovulation and they prefer it that way as it means better egg quality
I agree with clwc defo ask your GP about the orlistat she is right the side effects are dire, as I get it from my GP I get a stronger dose than whats in the chemist. Where you from (hope you don't think I'm nosey) I'm from Glasgow and dont get cd10 scans only bloods on CD 21 xxx

folie · 28/05/2009 11:41

Hi girls!

Hi Stacy,

What dpo are you? hope you have ovulated, but i am pretty sure you did, because your progesterone level of last month shows that you are reacting very well to the treatment. So really hope for a BFP!!

rugama · 28/05/2009 16:24

Right now I have decided to take a cycle off and relax and focus on loosing the weight and going to the gym.

Hope all is well with all of you... wish you luck.

rugama · 28/05/2009 21:05

Hey Ladies,

Have any of you tried Vitex (Chasteberry).

its suppost to be really good.

stac14 · 28/05/2009 22:20

Hi claire Did you have to go back to the consultant? Maybe your pg, wait till the provera is done and see if af appears hun keeping my finger crossed it wont.

folie I am on CD21 so that should be about 7 dpo, what cd are you?

rugma would your gp prescribe orlistat for you? Whats the chasteberry for?

rugama · 29/05/2009 00:44

Natural Herb....

How does Vitex Work?
Chaste tree berry acts on the hypothalamus and pituitary glands by increasing luteinizing hormone (LH) production and mildly inhibiting the release of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). The result is a shift in the ratio of estrogen to progesterone, in favor of progesterone. The ability of chaste tree berry to raise progesterone levels in the body is an indirect effect, so the herb itself is not a hormone.

Lack of menstruation (amenorrhea) that is caused by a lack of ovulation, and therefore a lack of progesterone production, should result in menses when progesterone is taken. Progesterone-induced menses indicates an intact reproductive system that just isn't going through its cycle.

It suggests that the body is producing enough FSH to stimulate the ovaries, and that the ovaries can develop follicles. It also indicates that follicular production of estrogen is sufficient to cause the lining of the uterus (endometrium) to grow and that the sloughed endometrium is able to pass through the cervical opening and the vagina. Therefore it's possible that the problem is a dysfunction in the hypothalamus or pituitary glands. The ability of chaste tree to modulate the hypothalamus or pituitary then makes this herb a good candidate for treating amenorrhea (infertility). For a further discussion of this topic, we refer you to Dr. Tori Hudson's Women's Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine

High levels of the hormone prolactin are commonly found with corpus luteum insufficiency. Vitex is useful for reducing high prolactin levels. It inhibits prolactin release by the pituitary gland, especially when you are under stress.

I will check with my GP if I can get prx for Orlistat

claire001 · 29/05/2009 09:03

Hey Stac

No i havent got my consultants appointment untill 2nd July so still a bit of a wait, Cant belive im on day 36 and not feeling anything yet!

A couple of months ago i brought a batch of pregnancy tests from access diagnostic and have used them all up. Iv done about 5 this month so think its pretty much certain im not pg. XX

stac14 · 30/05/2009 23:14

Hey claire
I dont think I have ov'd this month either thinking about a month off but scared in case this could be the month heads a bit wasted, any sign of af yet? xx

thenewsmoo · 31/05/2009 20:16

Hi Rugama
I have been taking a tincture of vitex agnus castus(or chasteberry) for 2 months now. It also comes in pill form. My acupunturist gave it to me to use alongside my clomid traetement. I have not really noticed any differencce and have been on clomid for 6 mths now with no success so seeing a cons again soon.
I am on CD22 today. Seeing cons inb 2 weeks and going to do lots of research into local hospitals results for IVF as this will almost certainly be our next step.

Good luck to everyone.

thenewsmoo · 31/05/2009 20:21

Hi Folie

U asked whether if u r shown to ov once on clomid, do u continue to ov? I have been wondering the same thing. I definitely ov once and according to bbts probabnly ov a few more times but doesn't look certain every month I have been taking it...I think doctors should send us for ablood test EVERY cycle but they don't...instead, I have had 6 mths on tthe stuff and no joy. Bonne chance!

stac14 · 01/06/2009 13:00

hey thenewsmoo think it was me that asked about the clomid but thanks for getting back to me, have to hope that its worked. My doc is doing bloods every cd 21 dont know if he will keep that up though. Hows you? whats been going on with you?

How are the rest of you ladies? not heard from some of you in a while xxxx

claire001 · 01/06/2009 14:59

Hey Stac

How are?

How come you might have a month off? X

stac14 · 01/06/2009 15:59

Hey claire

Just thinking about it cause I was quite down this month and I suppose I am starting to think that it will never work. Dont know if I have ov'd yet as havent heard from the doc. Hows you? Have you come on yet? I'm not back at the consultant until August so a bit fed up. Whats been happening with you?

My aunt was at a fortune teller who told her I would be pregnant this year so at least that seems positive if its true lol not sure I believe all that stuff. I've got diet class today so hoping I have done well keep your fingers crossed for me xxx

claire001 · 01/06/2009 17:31

Hey Stac

Still No period! Im alright think im just really starting to relax about it and im not stressing about everything anymore and i feel much better for it,

I would just carry on with your next dose and just try and forget about it whatever is ment to happen will happen and no matter how stressed i get about it it wont change it probably just make things worse (God i sound like a self help book....Sorry) XX

stac14 · 01/06/2009 17:44

Hey claire
I know what you mean I seem to get on ok until it comes time for the bloods to be done, did you ov this month? I dont think i have. You dont sound like a self help book, just far more relaxed than me lol xxx

Clwc · 01/06/2009 17:50

Hello all,

I'm just checking in.

Rugama I tried Agnus Castus before. I don't think it made any difference to me.

GL for your weigh-in Stac. I've quit 'Fat Club' already... Because I need to earn money while the sun is shining (gardening), I found it really awkward to keep at it. I've still got all the bumf though, so I'll refer to them every now and then to make sure I'm still eating sensibly.

Glad you're relaxing, Claire. DP and I have been tiling the bathroom and the shower has been taken down for now, so we have to either take baths or stay dirty! lol. It's so nice chilling out in a bath for 1/2 hour or so though

Hello to folie and thenewsmoo too. xx
