M2T I thought that at first have been doing preg tests over the last 3 weeks and they have been more and more positive each time ie changing within seconds and even darker than the control. Last test was 2 days ago and again highly positive.

M2T · 21/01/2004 12:43

Have you contacted your GP since you started spotting?
Are you still spotting?
Hopefully they will rush through a scan for you due to your history.

M2T · 21/01/2004 12:44

Oops - ignore that question!! I just reread your post! What time is your scan?

vidal · 21/01/2004 13:13

Hi NikNik, so sorry to hear your news -fingers and everything crossed that all will be okay, my thoughts are with you.

niknik · 21/01/2004 13:41

Just been for my scan and I can't believe it but every thing looks ok.

They have dated me 6/3 and 5.8mm, heart beat present.

They don't know why I am spotting and why I am in so much pain with my back. As they say everything seems OK.

M2T · 21/01/2004 13:43

FANTASTIC NEWS NIKNIK!

So glad I was wrong! I have had lower back ache on and off, which seems to have been caused by ....ahem.....wind!

popsycal · 21/01/2004 13:46

just popped in here and glad to see that you are well niknik!

niknik · 21/01/2004 13:54

Thankyou so much for your support.

I thought I was 7 weeks so 6.3 I think means I would be due 8th September which is really sweet as that is our 3rd Wedding Anniversary

M2T · 21/01/2004 14:01

Aw that's lovely NikNik.

This one is due 2 months before our 1st wedding anniversary! ..... must be a honeymoon baby.

Have they scheduled you in for another scan? My 12 wk one is in 5 days and I'm kind of dreading it!

vidal · 21/01/2004 14:36

NikNik, Just picked up your message and am so pleased to hear that everything is okay -seems that some bleeding is pretty common on MN threads.

Quackers · 21/01/2004 16:37

Just seen this and I'm delighted for you NikNik!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well done!!!!! I'm so pleased all is ok! I had spotting too at 6 weeks this pgcy after 2 losses and was convinced that was it but at the scan lo and behold a heartbeat!! Go rest up and take care of yourself!!!!

niknik · 21/01/2004 17:14

Thanks Quacks - no such luck on the rest front I'm at work but just doing paper work and I think I will finish a bit earlier. No more spotting and my back pains have gone as well, I think its the relief of seeing the scan. This is my third pregnancy and this is the first time I have seen a heartbeat, it was so cute just hanging there, I'm in love already. God I hope nothing happens now, it will be even more devastating after seeing its little heart beating.

M2T they haven't booked me in for any follow up scan but I work at the hospital and now I am known to the EPU with this pregnancy I can go back if I am worried. I have an appointment with midwife on Wednesday and I expect the next scan will be at 10-12 weeks (if no problems in between).

Quackers · 21/01/2004 17:31

Exactly. Yes I would be gutted now after seeing that and hearing it too now! Get lots of chilling time at home then. I'm very very pleased for you!! Whenever I have a 'moment', I just think of what the Doctor said. after 8 weeks you have 95% chance of success after seeing heartbeat and after 12 weeks 99% chance of success!

pollingfold · 21/01/2004 19:27

Niknik

That's BRILLIANT.

steppemum · 22/01/2004 06:07

nik nik fantastic news.

I had spotting with my first and was convinced I was having a mc (had had one previously) had a scan and saw the heartbeat, continued to get some spotting, but now have a wonderful 13 month old!

At the 6 week scan they said the placenta was very low lying, and the edge touched the edge of the cervix, so when I moved, sometimes the edge got disturbed and bled a little. They said it was absolutely nothing to worry about, and as the womb grew the placenta rose higher, so all was fine. I don't know if this is th same for you, but it helped me to have an explanation of the symptom, if you see what I mean.

dejags · 22/01/2004 20:10

Nik Nik so happy to hear that your scan went well and that everything seems ok...

dejags · 22/01/2004 20:14

Well I spoke too soon - the dreaded sickness has hit me hard in the last couple of days. Started on Wednesday night and has worsened - it seems almost constant

Getting sick 7 times in one day is not my idea of fun...but I swear I won't complain because I know that it is a sign that the baby is ok....

How are you all doing otherwise? I was very weepy this morning - first stirrings of oh my goodness we are going to be a family of four - I am looking at DS from a really sentimental viewpoint knowing that the dynamic will change when this little one arrives... not a bad thing... too many hormones floating round this body me thinks...

jacksmumto1 · 22/01/2004 22:33

Congratulations NikNik, I am so pleased for you!

Dejags.... I know having ms is a good sign but oh.. I wish I didn't have it!! I feel ill all day and have waves of "going to be sick!"!! I'm also SO tired! My parents are down from Chester for the weekend so they have taken ds off for the night so I can get some sleep - such stars!!

Dinny · 22/01/2004 22:50

Dejags and Jacksmum - I am also feeling awful with sickness. Feel completely incapacitated, can't keep anything down. Even water makes me sick. Think am going to doctor as worried haven't digested anything for 5 days.
When is it supposed to peak? Nine weeks? I'm only 7 & 1...

costamum · 22/01/2004 23:22

Congrats to all - have also just found out - by my rough estimates am due around the 19th sep! Not too sure what DS will make of it - he is 2.8 yrs!!!! No major symptoms apart from extreme hunger, tiredness and bizarre little twinges every now and then! Just dreading the thought of possible morning sickness though!

I will also have to find a doctor now (live in Spain) which is an even more scary thought than the morning sickness thing!

steppemum · 24/01/2004 17:34

hi costamum, congratulations, I'm due about the same time as you, and we aren't in th UK either. Are you going to have the baby in Spain? Are you permanently based there?

I feel extremely unreal about this pregnancy, no symptons AT ALL, in fact I felt more pre menstrual last week than this. My dh just keeps saying "no period is a good enough symptom for me!" I mustn't complain, unbeleivably busy few weeks coming up, and I can do without being sick all the time.

costamum · 24/01/2004 20:44

Thanks Steppemum - where abouts are you? Yes, we are based in Spain permanantly for now (?!!) and DS was born here too but in a different town so this new arrival is going to be yet another new experience!! Off to the doctor tomorrow to see what they say!

cazzybabs · 24/01/2004 23:10

am joinnng this tread (I think) - can't believe it and only at the weekend did I go out and got drunk on Fri, Sat and Sun. Havne't been out for ages and ages. Oh well . Have 1 dd who is 20 months. But as said on trying to conceive thread it is a bit of a shick as this is the 1st month we weren't really trying as had decided to go for midwifery course (interview on Weds) - oh well. I am really pleased as was a bit bitter everyone was preggers apart from me. Now just trying to prepare myelf for sickness and tirdness.

TWEETYPY03 · 26/01/2004 13:42

Morning Ladies!

Hope you are all not feeling too tired and sick. I have just sorted out my 12 week scan finally and can't wait!
Cazzybabs - congrats on your pregnancy I know what you mean about it being a shock. My ds is 20 mnths too and I was planning to wait until he was at least 3 before trying again. Are you still going to stay on your course? I had just started driving lessons so I have told the instructor that there is now a deadline for me to pass!

cazzybabs · 26/01/2004 15:13

WELL I am having a real preganat day today and I am being very naughty and I know you will all tell me off. You know I had my midwifery interview...well I can't do it anyway because when it strats I will be needing a midwife of my own. BUT anyway I thought never mind I go along for the interview you never know what could happen (Lose the baby, win the lottery etc) so I took a day of school to go for my interview. I have most my A-level certificates and degree certifate. I got my uni to fax me a copy of my degree reults yesterday and my schools are posting me copies of a-level results. BUT its not surprising they are lost because I have to take them so many places - job interviews etc, I moved house 5 times in the past 5 years (When I was at uni) and my parents are re-decorating the whole of their house). Anwyway I turn up at the college to find out my interview was yesterday. I am never normally dappy except when I am preganant. SO then I cried all the way home on my bike (and I never cry except when I am preggers or a child is poorly on tele) - I am such a fool. I am so disapointed. I am not sure I can afford to it in two years time anyway, but that is not the point!!!!!! The women said to write and expain what happened and ask for another interview. she was very nice and said I was not the 1st.

AND to top it all off my boobs hurt and (I noticed in next mirrors yesterday)I am gettign cellultie. I AM ONLY 25. AND I AM SO TIRED. And now I am sitting at home feeling sorry for myself and I should go into school and teach my children, but I can't face it so I am mopping at home feeling sorry for myself. MOAN MOAN MOAN.
