Anyone else hungry all the time?! I remember being hungry when pregnant with ds but I can't remember how I managed it! (Actually that is not true... I used to have another meal at 2am when dh came home from work ) I find if I don't eat then I start to feel sick...

Has anyone else noticed the bump yet? I'm out of 3 pairs of trousers already!! Off to find some more before I am back at work next week! (this happened at 7 weeks last time so I am two weeks earlier with this one )

What have you noticed that is different to your last pregnancy (assuming you are having your 2nd/3rd/4th....?!)

TWEETYPY03 · 19/01/2004 17:12

I have been eating shed loads. I have gone off chocolate but am craving chinese food particularly prawn crackers and duck pancakes mmmmm! (sorry if I am making some of you feel nauseous.
My abdominal muscles are definately giving up the fight and I am going to root out my old maternity trousers to wear.
This pregnancy feels easier as I don't feel so sick but still get nackered in the day which is hard when running round after a busy toddler.
re scans, I am hoping to get one as 12 weeks due to health problems in dps family but its usal only to get a 20 week one where I live which is a long wait.
Feeling jealous of you all with big boobs and mine are still a B

vidal · 19/01/2004 17:58

Hiya

This is my 5th pregnancy...I have ds 17 yrs and dd 15yrs, 1 m/c b4 ds and 1 missed abortion (foetus died in uterus but did not m/c, found out when I was 14 wks) that was in between ds and dd. Difference with this pregnancy is how my symptoms are not as strong and seem to come and go throughout the day, boobs can be sore for a cple of days then disappear for a day or 2!. I have been eating loads, especially a craving for chocolate, sleeping loads and still shattered after, the heartburn is horrible.
Can't wait for scan nxt week to see that all is okay Think you should try and push for a scan sooner Tweetypyeo3 if you can, I have been lucky where I live but also unlucky as they could only see a sac which has given me more to worry about having had a missed abortion or blighted ovum once already
Do you have any other symptoms?

lazyeye · 19/01/2004 18:30

Vidal - its seems like a long time till Tuesday doesn't it and everything is different after a m/c. (I've had2) Did you have spotting with your last m/c? Somebody said to me to just be glad you don't have any real signs of m/c rather than absence of pg signs.......but its hard to relax.

All pgs are diff, with my first boy I didn't really feel very sick till 8 weeks, so it could kick in yet.

Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

vidal · 19/01/2004 19:31

Lazyeye-Thanks for the message and the reassuring words . With previous m/c I was just 5-6 weeks, no bleeding beforehand just woke up with pain in stomach and back and went straight to the loo-with missed abortion (hate that term!) had only slightly sore bbs til 12 weeks, went for a scan and they couldn't see anything...then started to m/c in hospital straight after scan while waiting for a D&C. As you say-seems ages having to wait til Tuesday, I want to go to the epu and make something up to make them scan me so I can be put out of my misery!. Sorry to moan and grumble, I am not usually like this at all. Will be a lot happier when I see more than a sac next Tuesday, everything crossed Hope I am not worrying anyone else on here-from what I can gather from other threads and from various internet sites, my lack of symptoms are not uncommon and every pregnancy is different.
Still trying to figure out my edd, lmp was 24.11, so I make it 30.08, but been told by mwife that it's 1.09.
More than enough from me, how are you and thks again for the kind words Chatting really helps.

Quackers · 19/01/2004 19:37

Hi Vidal, just wanted to offer some words of encouragement. I had 2 losses this year and was convinced I'd lost this one after bleeding at 6 weeks. I waited for a scan 3 days after and had no symptoms whatsoever. The scan revealed a little hearbeat and so far so good I'm now over 12 weeks. No matter how I have felt and worried it hasn't changed the outcome, good or bad and I've learned that no symptoms can mean there is a baby and having lots can still mean there is no baby as with one of my m/c's. Wishing you lots of strength for the next few days, good luck and take care. xxx

vidal · 19/01/2004 19:59

Quackers, Thanks so much for the kind words and I am thrilled to hear that all is going well for you now . You are so right, worrying will make no difference to the outcome, whatever will be will be as they say-just have to keep on being positive. I think what surprised me the most in additon to the on off pg symptoms is the scan showed me to be 4 weeks since lmp, hence no yolk etc and just a sac, but my dates made me 6 wks from lmp, so I was expecting to see a heartbeat etc., some websites say you can't even see a sac til about 5 weeks. All so confusing and sometimes too much info is not always a good thing!.
Did you start to have any pg symptoms at all this time?. Thanks again for your supportive words xx

dejags · 19/01/2004 20:11

I am still having not pregnancy symptoms (sound like a stuck record I know )

Vidal - your post has me worried that I might be going through the same thing. I don't know whether to go back to the docs and insist on an early scan (risk looking like an idiot) or just hold tight until the 11 week nuchal scan...

I suppose there is no keeping me happy - if I were puking my guts up all day long I'd moan and because I am not I am worried and moaning... ho hum...

OP posts:
dejags · 19/01/2004 20:11

that would be no pregnancy symptoms...

vidal · 19/01/2004 22:26

Hiya Dejags,

The chances are that we will be fine and as you quite rightly say if we had our heads stuck down a toilet we would be moaning about that. I think it's because on previous pgs my head has been down the toilet most of the day and this one is so different, I am not used to feeling ok in pgy!. Quackers had no symptoms either and judging by the other threads and messages on mumsnet it seems that few or no symptoms are pretty common. I guess all a doctor would say is that as long as we don't have any pain or bleeding we are okay!!??. How many weeks are you now?. Are you having any symptoms at all?-still have the sore bbs?. Mine are tender one day and then perhaps not the next.
My doctor didn't hesitate in allowing me to go for an early scan, although on hindsight I think it was perhaps too early (can't win!!)- I hope to see quite a bit more on Tuesday's scan. I think if you have any concerns, the chances are that you will be fine but you can always discuss with your GP and request an earlier scan to put your mind at rest. Fingers crossed for us all. I am sure we will worry about something else once we are past the 12 wk mark!!. x

dejags · 20/01/2004 15:36

Hi all

Decided to take matters into my own (very impatient) hands and phone up the antenatal dept and Kings College Hospital to get my booking-in appt and nuchal fold scan dates. They were very helpful - my booking in appt date will be confirmed tomorrow and my Nuchal Scan is on 4th March (such a long way off!!!).

Hope you are all well

Dinny · 20/01/2004 15:52

Hi, Dejags.
Well done - v impressed with your assertiveness! How are you feeling? I am feeling dire - had to call in sick to work today, feel guilty. Had doc app yesterday - he wanted urine sample for preg test then dipped in another stick thing and said I have white blood cells in urine and may have a urinary tract infection. Don't think I have cystitis though - maybe a touch of thrush... Worried now - have to wait a week for hospital result.

Dinny · 20/01/2004 15:53

Forgot to say hi everyone else on this thread too.

niknik · 20/01/2004 17:30

Can I tentatively join this thread. I have had 2 misscarriages in the last 10 months my last one 7 weeks ago.

I found out 3 weeks ago I had fallen again strainght away, so I guess I am 7 weeks pg, by my dates I am due 4th September.

I am very pessimistic about this pregnancy, I have asked my GP for a reassurance scan but he says that are EPU doesn't do them unless your bleeding etc.

M2T · 20/01/2004 17:34

NikNik! Wow... you must've ovulated when you miscarried. So sorry about your miscarriage.
And happy you are pg again!

That's terrible that they won't do a scan to reassure you! I know it's awful.... and I might get shouted at for saying this, but couldn't you say you had bumped down the stairs and were worried about the baby? My friend did this when they refused her a 12 wk scan. So unethical, but she was desperate.

vidal · 20/01/2004 17:41

Congratulations NikNik . I totally agree with M2T, you should push for an early scan to put your mind at rest, even if it means saying a little white lie-all for good reasons!

niknik · 20/01/2004 17:45

Where I live they scan at between 10-12 weeks so I suppose it is not too long to wait and I am quite philosphical at the moment that what will be will be.

My last m/c was at 8 1/2 weeks and I don't know if it would be worse to have a scan with a heart beat now and then a rescan in 3-5 weeks and find out it had died in between.

SpringChicken · 20/01/2004 17:47

OMG.................Congratulations NikNik

I know you are obviously nervous but it must be nice to be back so soon.

Good Luck with everything

SpringChicken · 20/01/2004 17:51

I know how i felt without having any miscarriages - i was desperate for my first scan to confirm everything was OK and again after i had some bleeding.
However, i do know exactly what you mean about scaning early then having a routine scan at 10-12 weeks anyway - as you are 7 weeks already i think i personally would try and hold out but i would completely understand if you didn't want to.

Mog · 20/01/2004 22:59

Can I tentatively join this thread? I'm only 5 weeks so due mid-September. We decided to take the plunge and try for number three and it happened right away.
Feel a bit nervous as I'm now 40, but had easy pregnancies at 37 and 39.
Luckily I don't usually get any morning sickness but I am sooo hungry this time round and waking at night to go to the toilet which is a pain.
I'll have three children of three and under - help!!!

vidal · 21/01/2004 00:48

Hi Mog. Congratulations Almost the same age as me, I am 39.

steppemum · 21/01/2004 10:23

Hi everyone, can I tentatively join in? I have just done a test and I am pregnant! That means due on sapt 19th, but as I think my cycle was afew days longer, I'm going for the 22nd as a due date. So nervous about posting as it is so early, but got to tell someone (apart fromdh of course) This is no. 2, ds is 13 months.

niknik · 21/01/2004 12:12

I knew I shouldn't of posted on this thread. I started spotting last night and I have awful back pain - just like my previous 2 m/c's.

I have an appt this morning at the EPU for a scan. So fingers crossed but I am not holding out too much hope.

pollingfold · 21/01/2004 12:23

Oh niknik, fingers crossed for you. Keep strong and remember everyone on MN is here for you.

M2T · 21/01/2004 12:35

Oh NikNik - I really hope things go your way.

Is there a small possibility that your +ve test this time was HCG hormone still in your system from a previous pregnancy? I'm only asking as someone (can't remember who at the moment) was still getting positive tests 8 weeks after her mc. And perhaps this is your menstrual period?

I hope this doesn't upset you, it is totally not my intention, it's just that perhaps it would be a comfort to know for sure if this is another miscarriage or the after effects of the last one.

I truly hope that it all works out okay. When will you get your scan?
