Congratulations tweety

I'm off for my scan at 3 o'clock - i'm so excited it's unbelievable.
As the first scan we went to was my first ever i was very nervous and didn't really know what to expect, my 2nd scan was due to bleeding and to check that baby was OK (Thankfully baby is fine) but now it's is so nice to just be excited instead of worrying and panicking!

I cant take the big cheesy grin off my face Can you tell?

M2T · 13/01/2004 17:04

Congrats Tweety!!
Know what you mean about not being able to relax..... Ds is 2.6yrs old.... and quite a handful!

SC - GOOD LUCK! I didn't realise it was today. Enjoy it. Are you going to ask the sex???? Go on...... pleeeeeeeease??!

SpringChicken · 13/01/2004 17:14

Nooooooooooooooooooo way!

Wouldn't be able to find out today anyway would i? i'm only 13-14 weeks!

It is tempting but i don't want to know - that's what it's all about, the big surprise at the end

M2T · 13/01/2004 17:14

yes you would.

jacksmumto1 · 13/01/2004 17:14

Congratulations Tweetypy03!!!! I know what you mean about not being able to rest - I feel so tired too! Thankfully dh has taken ds out for a couple of hours so I am off for a nice bath!!!

SC - how did you get on?!

dejags · 13/01/2004 17:23

Congrats Tweety!!!

I know what you mean about not being able to rest - I work full time and have one DS who is 31 months... ok so far, but I don't know what I am going to do in the height of summer when I am huge and uncomfortable trying to chase a 3 year old around...

having said that I couldn't care less I am just so HAPPY about being pregnant...

Hello Dejags and everyone else,
Can't resist posting - I am six weeks pregnant and due on 5th Sept (I think).
Dejags, I know exactly what you mean about worrying more second time round - I feel the same. Think it's because you hear so many more stories once you've had a baby. Just starting to feel sicky - bleurgh. Congratulations everyone, Dinny.

SpringChicken · 13/01/2004 19:51

Congrats Dinny

Thanks for asking Jackmumto1 - got on great - DP was sat behind the sonographer so could see verything before me - i could see him start crying and pointing at the screen.
When she turned the screen around i couldn't believe how clear everything looked - when i have seen scan pictures before you could just about make out the head and everything else was a bit of a blur but on ours we can see the head, some facial feature's, legs, feet, spine - even saw a hand and fingers but that's not in the photo.

My God, i am soooooo excited, i just cannot describe it
Obviously we knew there was a baby there but see if on the screen makes everything seem so real.

Baby was measuring 7.9cm - i was dated as 13+5 which means bambino is due 13th July - Weyhey, i have an actual fixed date at last !

Yes 2nd baby, first was a boy he is now 3. He wants a sister, but we'll have to see.

Completely different pregnancy this time.

Name change to protect the innocent

similarthing · 13/01/2004 23:39

I couldn't possibly reveal my identity at the moment.
If I am not, however, I will eat my hat.

hoxtonchick · 13/01/2004 23:39

congrats dinny

jacksmumto1 · 15/01/2004 17:58

How is everybody doing?

Me? I feel pregnant and miserable with it! I had SPD with ds1 - only uncomfortable from 7 weeks and then severe from about 20-23 weeks; this time it has started and is painful now - I dread to think what it will be like later on I can't ask DH for sympathy as he isn't overly happy about no.2 on the way and I think is worried we might have another boy (he is convinced 2 boys will be awful and I can't persuade him otherwise ) As long as the ms doesn't start!!!! Oh well, I have the fun now of telling people and am excited about that!! One friend is due about 2 months before me (our ds's were 3 weeks apart) and was over the moon!!

Hope everyone is happy!

Dinny · 15/01/2004 23:08

Hi, everyone,
Just wanted to winge about feeling sick - forgot how bloody horrible it is. Anyone got any tips that work (er, no!!!!!!)
Hope you're all doing well, Dinny

ps Jacksmum, what is SPD?

jacksmumto1 · 16/01/2004 00:09

Symphis Pubis Dysfunction - it's basically where the gap in the pelvis seperaate - normally a muscle holds it nice and tight and in pregnancy you produce a hormone relaxin which causes it to loosen so the baby's head can get through. In some women, too much relaxin is produced and therefore it relaxes too much. Some women are fine after pregnancy and for some it can be a very severe problem which can results in needing a wheelchair and/or operations.

Although mine was quite bad at the end of my last pregnancy and I was unable to walk.. once I'd given birth, it did ease and once I'd finished breastfeeding it almost went - just twinges every so often if I picked up something too heavy or my period was here. Now I am pregnant again.. it's back

re: morning sickness - have you tried - ginger in any form? dry biscuits? anti-sickness bands? didn't work for me but some people find it helpful..

Ghosty · 16/01/2004 00:27

jacksmumto1 ....
First of all ... my congrats to you for your pregnancy ...
Secondly my commiserations for SPD ... I am on the home straight (37 weeks) .... and had SPD with DS but mildly ... and have had it with this pregnancy from 17 weeks pretty bad ... but not as bad as PIE (The uncrowned queen of SPD on Mumsnet) ...
I can't do anything ... except lie down ... so I know how you feel ...
Take it easy ... don't over stretch yourself and as soon as you can get your midwife to refer you to a physio or an osteopath ... they can give you exercises and special belts ... I spend my time in a tubigrip that does take the pressure off a bit ....
Oh ... and congratulations to all of you others on this thread ...

similarthing · 16/01/2004 13:49

I am not

Dinny · 16/01/2004 14:59

God, SPD sounds awful. My sympathies to anyone suffering with it.
Jacksmum - have got my bands on (not doing much though) and am forcing myself to eat oatcakes. Stopping me actually being sick for the moment(am at work) but feel lousy.

dejags · 16/01/2004 17:45

Hi Dinny

CONGRATS!!

Hope you are feeling ok. I know I am starting to sound like a stuck record but I have absolutely no symptoms - besides a sore crampy stomach (which could be any one of a hundred things)...

I have never wished to feel sick - but would welcome it now. I am only 5 weeks today so maybe it's a bit early.

What symptoms do you all have?

OP posts:
Dinny · 16/01/2004 17:53

Thanks, Dejags.

I have only just started feeling sick (at 6 weeks) so be careful, you may still get your wish! Were you sick last time?

Haven't really got much else except feeling sick -boobs don't hurt as much as last time. Metallic taste has gone. If it weren't for feeling sick, I wouldn't feel preggers. In fact, I was hoping I'd start feeling sick last week. Regret that now!

TWEETYPY03 · 16/01/2004 19:52

Congrats to everyone else whose expecting!r.e symptoms I only have a crampy stomach and not much nausea at all. Last time I was throwing up for 3 monthes. So far this pregnancy feels easier but I won't count my blessings just yet!
Re scans, are you all getting one at 12 and then at 20 weeks? I am hoping to press for a 12 week one. I keep thinking maybe I am not pregnant and just have bad wind :0

Dinny · 16/01/2004 20:02

Hi Tweetypy03, congratulations to you.
Yes, I will have a 12 week and 20 week scan I think (all being well) - did last time. Doesn't your hospital offer them as standard or something?

Forgot about wind as a symptom of mine! :0

jacksmumto1 · 16/01/2004 22:14

We only get the 20 week scan

If it wasn't for the SPD, I wouldn't think I was pregnant - I feel as if I have a stomach bug - you know, that achey sick feeling in your tummy - with immense tiredness!

pollingfold · 17/01/2004 12:29

Good to see that the joy of pregnancy are bestowning themselves on us so early.

I had first wave of nausia this morning and can sleep anywhere, but other than that my boobs are the only thing that are a give away. Having become saggy and stretchmarked scared versions of their former selves after DS (now 14 months) they are returned to there former glory but slightly lower down my chest!

I have a feeling that the next 7 weeks before 12 week scan are going to go really slowly. People have already started to eye me suspictiously for declining a drink.

Quiet thankfull that I work full time and that DS someone else is running round after DS, although hoping for a slightly cooler summer than last year for travelling on the tube.

dejags · 18/01/2004 12:07

Morning ladies - how are you all doing today?

I second the boob thing Pollingfold - I have very few symptoms besides glorious cahunas (sp??) as my husband says. They have never been firmer or perter in my life (not even when I was pg with DS)? DH is happy

I have been feeling a little anxious about not having any symptoms and spotting last week but then I try to tell myself "what will be will be" and I can't control things so to try and go with the flow (which will be my motto for after the baby is born too)?

Can't wait for my scan/booking in dates - should be about a month from now.

Hi everyone

I am 7wks pregnant, due either 1st September or 30th August-so kind of just make it on to this thread!!! I have enjoyed reading all your comments as I worry about most things!. I will be 39 when I have the baby and am not really having many symptoms-breasts are tender on and off each day, slight nausea and heartburn, quite tired too. I have 2 older children and everything was different with them, head down the toilet all day and nobody could come within 2 miles of my breasts, so the lack of symptoms worry me although everyone says all pregnancies are different.
Also had an early scan, should have been 6 weeks by dates, but was told I was 4 weeks by size and only the sac could be seen, so am having another scan 20.01 hope to see a bit more then!. Just wish I could enjoy the pregnancy and lack of symptoms, keep prodding my boobs to make sure they are still tender. Not sure if anyone feels like me??!!!!
