Hello again everyone - I'm actually going to be spending the next few weeks on holiday at my mum's in France.... I was interested to see this thing about the hayfever - I was fine just before I left (I live by the coast in Spain) but now I am here in the countryside I have terrible hayfever (again!) and I was wondering too what I could take. My doc in Spain had recommended something but I bet I won't be able to get hold of it over here without a prescription! I shall have to try - my eyes are rubbed raw (I also wear contacts), I have to use my Ventolin and my nose doesn't stop running!!! Hellish hols!

blossomgirl · 13/06/2004 21:24

Hello , havn't posted on this thread before.. hope its not too late to join in? just a thought to let highlander know shes not alone with her aches and pains, meant to say the other day that, apart from groooowing very fast its been really painful too. Seem to get attacks of the aches anytime anywhere, and have got into trouble with dp for holding my bits in the supermarket and groaning (apparently).

Don't believe him, but the idea that this is nothing yet has also got me in denial -littlerach you got me scared!

jacksmumto1 · 13/06/2004 21:37

Hello blossomgirl - welcome! When are you due and is it your first? Sorry.. have to ask the questions!! I'm due 9th/11th Sept (depending on who you ask!) and it's my second.

Yup have had aches and pains as well but have to admit they were worst with my first - I guess the muscles were stretching more that time and this time it's a case of "been there done that!"

Costamum - piriton is helping me BUT you have to take it approx every 4 hours so a small bottle doesn't last long!! But I am going on the 'if it works.. I don't care about the cost theory'!! Hope you have a lovely hol!

costamum · 14/06/2004 01:14

Thanks jacksmumto1! I went to the chemist today, here in France and was faced with a definite no when I asked for what the doc had told me in Spain - different regulations etc,. So in the end she gave me a homeopathic hayfever remedy which she said would be ok. Does anyone know anything about these sort of treatments in pregnancy?? I haven't tried it yet.

blossomgirl · 16/06/2004 16:59

Hello again thanks for the greeting jacksmumto1! I'm a first timer, so blissfully unaware as my sil keeps reminding me as I rabbit on about natural this and yoga that! Due 26th Sept, don't kno what flavor, pretty sure only one (as elected to not have the scan in the end (thank you to everyone who helped with that thread)). Glad to hear about the strechy pains..so i'm just putting up a fight as i kiss my waist goodbye?!

hope everyone is well and thanks for letting me join in!

costamun i just read that some homeopaths recommend that any remedies used in pregnancy are over 12x dilution if that helps

dinny · 16/06/2004 17:16

Welcome Blossomgirl and hello to everyone else.

How fast is time going now??!!! Can't believe am 28 weeks! Feeling fine and happy at the moment. Hope you all are OK.

Blossomgirl, can I ask why you decided to not have a scan (was it the 12 week, 20 week or both)? Think I remember your thread...
Dinny xx

niknik · 16/06/2004 18:58

Hi girls

Not been around lately, as I seem to have been so busy at work, plus I am busy writing essays for my university course, which I am behind in so will probably be trying to finish those off the night before I go into labour.

Feeling quite tired now, and I still have 12 weeks to go (9 weeks at work).

Bump getting bigger now, everyone says that I am neat, but I feel hugh already and I am not impressed that I have put a stone on (I am only 5 foot so it really shows).

Apart from odering the 'travel system' I have'nt bought any thing so far.

When are most of you starting Parent craft classes?

jacksmumto1 · 16/06/2004 23:23

Hi niknik!! Glad to hear all is ok despite the hardwork you are having to do! I have put on a stone as well and am 5'2"... I put on 2 stone in total last time....

I'm not doing parentcraft classes this time round - didn't feel I gained much last time round plus I missed the essential 'breathing' class as I had had problems that day and spent several hours in the pregnancy ward being monitered...! Wish I had made it whilst in labour as I kept forgetting to breathe 'through it' and dh was useless at reminding me!

I took pics of my bump last time as a 'memory' for me and dh.. was looking at them last night and my bump looks identical... must be a boy then!!!

Joany · 17/06/2004 01:00

Hello eveyone it's really good to read the messages that make me feel less wierd as you lot are going through the same things as me! Our baby's due Sept 26th and I am feeling rather hefty at the mo. In fact I wanted to ask if anyone else feels a real low down pressure -I feel like the baby's going to pop out at any time. I keep emptying my blader which helps a bit but it's a strange sensation, a stretching pressure typething...is this just normal?????? Just needing a bit of reassurance I suppose.

ps - a friend said John Lewis sale starts 1st week in July and Mamas and Papas end of June if like me you haven't got anyting sorted!

cazzybabs · 17/06/2004 01:16

Joany we are due on the same day - have finially pinned my mw to a due date but was nearly 14 days late with dd so am expecting to be late this time too! I have that feeling too - its my least favourite pregnant sensation - well apart from labour oh and painful kicks!

Am looking at a house tomorrow to buy - feel dead grown up!

cosmos · 17/06/2004 18:10

Hello everyonenewbie here.
Im expecting a boy 21st September,30th September if they have their calculations right here in France. So far had none of the aches some of you have suffered, been cursed this week instead with horrible bout of piles.Im 26 weeks and the bump has stopped expanding for the moment, although the babe is jigging about stronger by the day.Anyone elses bumps not getting bigger?Could be mabye the position, got a slightly low lying and anterior placenta.

blossomgirl · 17/06/2004 22:30

Hello ! Really strange to see the 26th come up again! Was reminded today that's about 100 days away

Dinny, thanks for asking about the scan. Hope you are well. I remember you from the other thread. The first screening scan offered in this area is the 20 week (no 12). So I had neither..there's lots of answers rolling round my head, but mostly I just wanted to let nature do her thing. I work with old people, and i've lived in the wilds in Africa and they have been the biggest influence on my attitude to new life. My partner is also quite a lot older than me, so all round we seem to be in another era/place.

The mw and the radiography dept were really relaxed and unexited. I did do masses of research (stats, books, internet, the hospital) and found out exactly what my radiographer was trained to look for, asked my mum, got finger-wagged-at by my sil (and on and on) and then stood back from it and realised it just didn't feel right, for us. Just like when we knew it was right to plan this babe (and when it was right to have that sausage after donkey-donkey years as a off meat!)

Hope that's not too long-winded, never could give a short answer . Hope Everyone has a good we .

Is anyone elso moving house soon?

eyelash · 18/06/2004 00:19

Hello all

I am due on 30 September but as ds1 and ds2 were very late have been lurking on the October thread. Now there seems to be more of you due at the end of September I hope you don't mind if I pop in regularly.

I am just over 24 weeks and feeling pretty big. Glanced at a pregnancy mag the other day which said that at 24 weeks you should have gained about 2 - 3 kilograms. Please tell me this isn't the general experience. I have gained quite alot already but determined to do more walking from tomorrow and cut out ice-cream and chocolate. Anybody want to join me especially as I could really do with the motivation? I am eating really healthily as well but just need to cut out the c**p.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Distracted · 18/06/2004 01:32

Hello Eyelash - think there are now quite a few of us due late September. I'm due 27th (or 29th on scan) and last baby was 10 days late, so I'll probably be October. Stringbean is due 25th and I think Highlander is late September too? Looks like Blossom Girl and Joany and Cazzybabs as well - so there'll still be a few of us around on this thread in late September! Have to say I haven't looked at the October thread, as I only come on Mumsnet probably once a week now, so just catch up with this thread and anything else interesting!

I am enormous and I know I'm much bigger than last time (and I was big then too)! I did expect to show earlier 2nd time, but thought that overall I would be similar. I'm only 24, going on 25 weeks and I'm sure I look more like 32 weeks! Am flying on Monday and think I'll have to take my maternity notes with me to prove that I'm not too pregnant to fly!

I had hoped that my rate of growth would slow down too - Toothache you're worrying me even more! People who have only seen me a week ago comment on how much bigger I look.

I really haven't dared to weigh myself as I'm sure I'll get a huge shock!

Must stop focussing on it I suppose. Other than my size and tiredness (and fact that walking is getting more difficult - although varies depending on where baby is lying) my pregnancy is going ok.

Distracted · 18/06/2004 01:35

Thanks Tillymint and Cazzybabs by the way for advice on flying. I did go and get an E111 form today (although I'm going to Switzerland on Monday so probably not covered as it's not EU - will have to read leaflet that comes with it)!

dinny · 18/06/2004 13:53

Hi, everyone, I too am huge. Everyone at work says bump has just exploded.

Blossomgirl, very interesting to read your reasons for not having scan. I totally see where you're coming from and have felt tempted to do the same. Not brave/confident enough though.

We are poised to move house. Hopefully will exchange contracts on our sale next week (or not, as the case may be) and then we have a month to find a rented house. We have a crazy idea that the market will fall and we wil buy back in in 6-12 months. Or longer. It's scary and I could really do without moving house at this late stage!

stringbean · 21/06/2004 00:25

Eyelash, can't believe your pregnancy magazine says you should gain 2-3 kilos by 24 weeks. I'm 25+ weeks and have gained 2-3 kilos - on each boob!!! Throw your magazine away. I think weight gain is pretty individual (helped along, ahem, by the odd choccy bar), and it seems to me that if you're determined, you'll lose it afterwards. If it's any consolation, I weighed a stone less going into this pregnancy than I did when I became pregnant the first time, and I wasn't overweight then. It's amazing what trying to keep up with a small child can do!

eyelash · 21/06/2004 16:31

Hello all

Stringbean - I don't buy pregnancy mags now as this is my third baby but bought them all in my first. But I can't help the odd peep though when I am out and about! I have never gotten back to my pre-pregnancy weight but I am sure running around after 3 boys will do it for me next time.

Just shed a tear after reading the account of one of the babies to be shown tonight on Born too Soon. I know I shouldn't watch these programmes but feel compelled to.My heart goes out for the parents and the baby.

I have also been rethinking my maternity leave and think I might leave a few weeks earlier so as to have some more time off before baby arrives. I am currently due to leave about mid-August but might pull it back to the end of July as I have 6 weeks leave to take first. Ds1 is also having August off before he starts Reception so it would work out well. When is everybody planning to go off?

dinny · 21/06/2004 23:06

I'm going to watch Born Too Soon too, Eyelash. It's so amazing to see what they can do for prem babies. Though I think tonight they lose one

I'm planning to stat mat leave at the start of August. I'll be 35 weeks. Risky as dd born at 35+5 but I want lots of time off after baby arrives.

Mangogirl · 22/06/2004 20:11

HI everyone,

I am due on the 24th september and am very excited about it! I wish people would stop saying "Oh you're going to get really hot this summer"- It's really annoying..I don't know maybe my tolerance level is low.
This is my first baby so any advice about anything really is always appreciated. Oh and well done to everyone for being due in September- I reckon it's going to be a great time in the future for children's parties. I was born in January so I am understandedly bitter!!

cosmos · 24/06/2004 10:14

Hi Mangogirl

Im due 21st September, also with my first child, also very excited, and also new to this thread!Good luck and look forward to comparing notes!

jacksmumto1 · 26/06/2004 18:35

Hi everyone!!

Had my 28 week growth scan today - all is well and baby is smack bang within "normal" growth range so all is well. Nice to "see" baby again as well!!

I don't know about being hot only in the summer though - I roasted last pregnancy in the middle of winter (ds was born in February) - saved on heating bills though!!!!

cazzybabs · 26/06/2004 18:46

Jacksmum - why did you have a 28 week growth scan? I am just being nosey so please ignore this if you don't widh to tell me!

I am cursing this baby - my thighs seem to have increased with the size of my bump at the same rate- how???? I am being so good, not too much naughty stuff at all but I guess have cut down on the amount of excersise I do.

Mangogirl · 26/06/2004 19:22

I feel much better now I know that winter is just as bad. Glad to hear the 28 week scan went okay- I didn't get to have one- my hospital just invited me back at 40 weeks!
Is anyone else getting to feel a bit uncomfortable yet? I am a little bit.
Anyone got any ideas about names? I am going nuts trying to think of a boy name (I have a feeling it's a boy!) but I swear out of about 10 million I only like two.

cazzybabs · 27/06/2004 00:31

I don't like any boys names - and I am certian it is a boy! I am sorted for girls names though! So if anyone wants to swop babies when they have a girl and I have a boy ...
