Ooh, got mine through yesterday - 23 Feb. Seems ages away. Can't remember if I was feeling sick still at 12-week scan last time round.

Worried about my appalling nutrition at the moment - all I can keep down is cherryade (loathe it normally) and cranberry ice lollies. Can rarely keep vits down either.

niknik · 04/02/2004 15:14

Sorry to hear you are feeling so sick, can't say I am not a little envious though, my nausea has gone almost completely over the last few days and this only makes me more anxious that I will misscarry again. Plus I am continuing to get lower back pain.

I see my midwife for booking in on Friday and I am hoping I will have a scan before the 23rd as I do have an appointment with my infertility doc that day and if the scan shows bad news then I will be ask him to investigate my recurrent m/c's.

Sorry to sound so depressing on this thread but I really have convinced myself that it is not going to be a good outcome

Dinny · 04/02/2004 15:38

Niknik, how many weeks are you? Must be near 3 months as having booking? I read somewhere that nausea peaks at weeks 8-9 usually. Maybe that's what's happening? Can you not get a scan to reassure you? Don't know where you are but I know our Early Preg Unit let you come in and be scanned if you are worried (S London). Got my fingers crossed for you, D xx

pollingfold · 04/02/2004 15:41

NikNik

I'm sorry that you feel this way, its understandable to read everything as a possible sign of something wrong afetr your experiences. But the nuasea could have just subsided for a few days before rearing its ugly head again in a couple of days or hours, I know I went through patches of on and off sickness with my DS.

Stay positive, and hope that you get plenty of reassurance from your MW.

jacksmumto1 · 04/02/2004 15:42

Hi, I'm feeling rough-ish... it varies from day to day! Immediately after getting up is bad and then late aft/eve is bad for nausea.. SPD is uncomfortable as well - not helped by the fact ds is quite poorly with hand, foot and mouth and wants to be carried all the time..(!) Won't be getting a 12 week scan - we only get the 20 week one here so you must all let me know how you get on!

Niknik, I have my fingers crossed all is well and I hope you manage to get a scan to put your mind at rest..

niknik · 04/02/2004 16:27

Thank you all for your reassurance

I am only 9 weeks on Tuesday so still early days

Where I live you see the Midwife at 8-10 weeks to be booked into the systems and then see the consultant and have a scan at 12 weeks

Its not only the lack of nausea that concerns me but the constant lower back pain. Does any body else suffer from that?

I had a reassurance scan at 6 1/2 weeks due to spotting and they said every thing looked ok then, but my then my previous mc's have been at 8 weeks.

I will talk to my midwife on Friday to see if they can get me in for a scan at 11 weeks

dejags · 07/02/2004 12:06

Hi everybody - sorry I have been so scarce!

I have been feeling dreadful for the past couple of weeks. I have had nearly 6 days off work and have also been working from home on certain days.

The nausea seems to have died down now which is great . But I still get really tired - I am also suffering from really bad bloating/wind in the evenings. My belly honestly looks like I am 20 weeks some evenings - I have read about it and am told that it is safe to take Rennie Deflatine - so off to the pharmacy for me today.

Otherwise I am pretty good - DS is settling well with the idea of becoming a big brother and often asks about "Baby Lollipop"...

How are you all doing?

cazzybabs · 08/02/2004 00:47

I am not feeling sick at all yet - am a bit worried now. may have to do another preg. test. For the 1st day today felt tired - really pregnant tired. I remember it now from dd - its a difference kind of tired from normal tired. I was too tired to get off the sofa and play with dd.

Am craving protein - so reackon its boy . And am getting fat, but sadly thats more to do with eating too much and lack of mornign sickness - not that I want morning sickness just the reasurece I am preggers and baby is OK. One of my friends guessed at the w/e as we saw then twice out socially and both times I was not drinking (I am now thinking I must drink a hell of a lot) - although on Sat did have a small glass of red wine which I must stop doing because then I feel guilty for the next week!

Where is everybody???

tillymint · 10/02/2004 14:18

Hello dejags
I'm new to Mumsnet, joined yesterday, and havebt quite got the hang of things. Seem to spend all my time reading the messages. I'm due 6th Sept. But look more like 20 weeks too. Had a baby last July, so I think my body thinks its the same pregnancy and went straight back into FAT mode! Not feeling particularly pregnant myself (had nausea with two previous sucessful ones). However the SPD has kicked in alrweady, and costing a fortune at the Osteopaths. I've had an 8week scan, to check for ectopic and dates. (lost a tube in 2000 from ectopic). All seemed fine. My nuchal scan is at end of month, but I'm positive, at 41 my odds aren't good but my new baby is perfect so this one should be too. Have I waffled too much? Sorry? No brain cells left!

M2T · 10/02/2004 14:53

Hi Tillymint - I'm due on 6th August, but our thread is all quiet at the moment...
You have one child who is about 18mths old or do you mean July 03 making the baby 7mths? I'm being a bit dim today! And you have one other child so this is your 3rd on the way?

Congratulations.

Lolabelle · 10/02/2004 15:14

Hi everyone - I'm due 31st aug/1st sept so only just valid for this thread but a new member and a very scared lady as recovering from an eating disorder and not coping with that very well plus petrified my baby won't make it because of bad health. Want this baby more than I have ever wanted anything else in my life before - how do you know if you've miscarried?? Is there always blood??

tillymint · 10/02/2004 15:34

Hi M2T, First girl 5 (6 in August), New baby 7months! Thanks for congrats.

Lola, There was blood with my miscarriage, and severe cramps, liked the worst period I'd had. Why are you worried?

SpringChicken · 10/02/2004 15:42

Not always Lola - there is such thing as a missed miscarriage - believe it is where the foetus stops developing but your body doesn't realised!

These are usaully picked up at scans as no heartbeat would be found!

This hasn't happened to me so don't take my word for it - Quacks might be a good person to ask if she pops in.

M2T · 10/02/2004 16:22

Tillymint - You're a brave woman having 2 so close together, but then you have your DD who must be a good little helper.

Lolabelle - I was as worried as you and kept asking my fellow Mumsnetters that very same question! I didn't relax until I saw the scan image. When is your scan?
Are you managing to eat healthily just now?

I had a cousin who, despite suffering from Bulemia for 10 yrs has given birth to 2 healthy boys only 13mths apart. She was and still is painfully thin. Babies are like parasites (lovely thought! )..... they will take what they need from you to the detriment of your health. So I'm sure the baby will be just fine! But make sure you look after yourself.

Lolabelle · 10/02/2004 17:37

I have Bulimia also so that was really good to hear - I only ask about the miscarriage as I have been ill a couple of times whilst pregnant, I am 1o and a half weeks gone so only have to wait another 10 days until my scan but if it was a missed miscarriage i don't know if i could cope as it took over a year to get pregnant but fingers and toes crossed I guess...

I'm keeping the bulimia under control though and am going to kick it somehow - maybe i need to see the scan to see my baby, maybe that'll knock some sense into me...

Lolabelle · 10/02/2004 17:41

One more thing...when is it possible to get a bump?!! I am desperate as i feel fat and thick waisted which means nothing fits but not a sniff of a bump and i know its dead early but how long do i have to wait??! My boobs have grown quite a bit already....

tillymint · 10/02/2004 18:16

Lola, apparantly the size of your bump in dependant upon many factors. Taller you are, more internal space you have between your pelvis and ribcage, so bump takes longer to show, in theory. Also, My womb tilts forward, some tilt backwards. It makes no difference to baby, but bump may show quicker when it tilts forward.
Then there's the inexplicable. I taught a girl who was average height and build, one day she was in class, in uniform, normal day. That night she gave birth to a healthy baby!! No one at school knew. Life is strange, and mother nature inconsistent (after all she is a woman!)

littlerach · 10/02/2004 18:20

Hi, Lollabelle, I am due on 31 July, but DD was early, so that means nothing!!!
I am starting to feel that I look more pregnant now, at 15 wks, I know what you mean about looking shapeless, it's the worst. I think there is a gap in the market for pre-maternity and post-maternity clothes, other than buying a size bigger, or loose-fitting stuff.
All the best for the scan - so reassuring.

Quackers · 10/02/2004 18:37

Lolabelle, just caught up here and saw your concerns. Firstly I think everyone will agree that babies survive the most amazing circumstances and as they are contained in their own little world they take all the nourishment they need from you. Don't worry about illnesses affecting the baby too much the placenta protects the baby from alot of things except Aids, alcohol, chicken pox etc.. You concentrate on trying to be positive and helping your baby the best you possibly can.
Missed miscarriages happen as Spring Chicken said. The baby stops growing but the body doesn't realise for a long time. There may be some spotting earlier on that goes away and then later it's discovered that the baby didn't survive earlier. Other times there are no signs at all. Most people on here including myself just don't 'feel' pg, boobs deflate etc... So a few more days to wait and you'll have your scan. I wish you well and hope you manage to try and stay positive for you and your baby!! LOLxx
NikNik, you're worrying like I did until I knew for sure all was well. It's never the same again is it after a m/c. My sickness did fade from about 9 weeks, don't worry about that. All the best.
God I ramble sometimes!!!!

Lolabelle · 10/02/2004 18:47

Thanks everyone for your support - its so hard to be positive until i have my 12 week scan but deep down I get moments of sheer excitement and I have had no spotting opr cramps and i am trying to eat well most of the time and trying to limit my bulimia 'incidents' to the very minimum so maybe I am just being paranoid..

I couldn't agree more about the pre-maternity wear! I am wearing vile baggy tops over painfully too tight trousers and yet no bump at all!! I am looking for cute non maternity tops that slightly flare from under the bust in a cute/fashionable type way but alas there are none!! I love clothes and am getting fed up!! At least if I had a bump then i would be able to show it off and look pregnant!!

I am off to a smart function on the 5th March and will be nearly 15 weeks and am anxious to have a small bump so i can look pregnant instead of just fat!!! Hubbie keeps thinking he can see one but usually just after i have had my dinner - not quite the same thing!!!

Roll on 12 week scan as i think I am going to burst with anticipation!!

cazzybabs · 11/02/2004 00:54

Lolabelle I am sure you will have nothing to worry about - think of all those poor women in Africa who are starving and still manage to have babies. (I am not sure if ethically this is a good comparison, but hopefully it will reasure you). My clothes too are getting tight - I am just putting it down to eating more and breastfeeding less.

Lolabelle · 11/02/2004 13:43

You're right I know, Third world countries, drug users and all sorts all have babies and a lot of them healthy - maybe worrying in early pregnancy is just one of those things that everyone goes through but i just didn't realise how many people miscarry until i started reading pregnancy magazines and coming on websites like these, it just seems such a high possibility but I feel better already and only 10 days until my scan and then i can relax more!

i'm just an emotional hormonal wreck I guess!!

littlerach · 11/02/2004 14:11

Same here, Lollabelle, for all that MN is the best thing ever (!!!!) it does make you so much more aware of what can go wrong.
My jeans are a size larger than normal, and those trendt v. low cut ones, tp accomodate my belly!!! However, they reveal more of my behind than I'm comfortable with!!!!

Lolabelle · 11/02/2004 16:45

The trendy low cut jeans are a lifesaver i agree but bending down in them is another story! My mum gave me a pair of dungarees yesterday and I nearly vomited - no offence but over my dead body!!
