Cazzybabs, hope you are feeling better and your headache has gone.
Tillymint, panic not about getting too hot this summer - it's not going to be like last year (boo hoo - in some ways!). If our sale goes through we will be leaving our very cool-in-even-boiling-weather Georgian thick-walled place for a much warmer house, no doubt. So am hoping for a cooler summer than last year's!

cazzybabs · 26/05/2004 01:38

Feeling much better - bp down to something over 80 which is normal! Have just ordered some books for dd about potty trainning and the baby in mummy's tummy after brousing on amazon (that website is dangerous for my back balance). Have loads of SATS to mark - yuck! AND dp has been offered a well paid job - HORRAH! maybe we can buy our won house now - god I can't wait to not live in his dad's house! But no doubt still won't be able to buy for another year or so ! Am due to start my maternity leave on the 13th of Sept - i'll be just over 38 weeks,so am hoping bp stays low else doctor won't sign certificates I need to keep working!

am in no doubt bump is a boy - or beazubub as we affectionally call him! I am definatly carrying it more in the front. Which is a pain as we can't agree on boys names!

cazzybabs · 26/05/2004 01:40

Just like to clarify amazon.co.uk is not bad for my back, just my bank! God why can't I proofread - mind you am such a bad speller it would't help anyway!

jacksmumto1 · 30/05/2004 00:29

How is everyone doing? I've been home for 5 days now and while it is nice to be home and with DH... I feel knackered! Ds seems to have really hit the full toddler tantrum stage rather than the paddy's he was having.... I know... all do to early daylight (he was awake well before 5.50am which is when I 'discovered' him on my way to the loo) and refusal to have a daytime sleep (please go back to it.. I need my rest!!). SPD is variable - uncomfortable but copeable as long as I do nothing.. not easy!

Dinny - I also feel that I could down half a bottle of wine quite easily - just this last week or so though!!

I am planning to bf again - a little nervous as I found the intial start really painful last time but I coped then with bleeding raw nipples (ouch icon!) whilst I tried to get things sorted so I guess I will cope again - but pray I don't have to!!

Well done Cazzybabs DP! At least you know you will be getting your own place sorted even if it takes a bit more time. Hope all goes well for you!

Keep in touch folks!

stringbean · 31/05/2004 00:37

Just thought I'd drop in and see how everyone is doing. How are you all? We had our 20 week scan last week - everything looks OK, and it was nice to see the little thing waving at us (it's certainly getting very active). We did ask what it was, having debated whether to or not..... and the cord was in the way, so we're none the wiser! Oh well, in another four months we'll know for sure. Still don't know where the time is going - I've only got 15 weeks left at work - I'm sure my first pregnancy dragged. We also have the small (ahem) matter of extending our house before the bub arrives; hoping to start in June, but I've told dh that if the builders are still here when I'm due to go on mat leave, I'm staying at work. Will keep you posted.

tillymint · 01/06/2004 20:59

Just a hello from me too.
Next few weeks will be busy. We move house on 10th June! and dd2 (10months) has started to crawl... eek! She gets faster and further by the day!! Still only interested in bottom stair - don't want to put up stairgates until we move!!!
Best go! More sorting!

Happy Bank Holiday!!

Distracted · 03/06/2004 01:57

Hello all. Not been on here for absolutely ages since we moved house, partly as we haven't had broadband. Got it all working again now. Had my scan couple of weeks ago and all ok, which is good.

Glad everyone else's scans have all been ok.

I wanted to ask people what they know about flying when you're pregnant? My midwife told me that the limits to when you can fly are set by each airline so they vary (found out BA is 28 weeks and BMI 32 weeks so far - although both will let you fly later than this with a doctor's note to say you have a healthly low risk pregnancy). I just assumed that the airlines set these limits as this is when you are more likely to go into premature labour, which they don't want to have to deal with. Does anyone know if there is any particular risk of flying itself to the pregnancy? My mother came out with some idea of the air pressures affecting the baby today, which is probably rubbish! Did make me wonder though.

I have to fly quite a bit for work at the mo' and need to tell my boss when I have to stop flying. I don't really want to keep flying once a doctor's note is needed, even though I could easily get one I suppose, as my pregnancy is low risk, but I'm finding it really tiring even now.

Are we still doing the rollcall? If so then I'm due 27th Sept. sex unknown.

Hope everyone has a good bank holiday weekend.

cazzybabs · 03/06/2004 13:02

I thought the flying thing was because of DVTs - but I could be just making that up.

Distracted · 03/06/2004 13:18

No I think you're right - there's a greater risk of DVT during pregnancy anyway, but not sure whether that has anything to do with when you should stop flying? I'm only doing European flights so not too worried about DVT as most flights are only 1-2 hours.

Just not sure really where to get info on this though - the airline websites don't have anything at all!

tillymint · 04/06/2004 00:38

Also need to consider travel insurance. You may not be covered for any 'complications' whilst away. But since we are in the EU?! Fill in the E111 (if it still exists).
I didn't fly past 13 weeks (but that was long haul ). It wsas the nausea that got me. I wasn't covered on my tyravel insurance.
All the xray machines at customs concerned me the most - I arranged a scan when I got home to put my mind at rest!
Europe should be fine!

costamum · 07/06/2004 12:19

Hello everyone, hope things are ok. I´ve just had a scan and found out we´re having another boy!!! We are all really pleased!!! I still would like a girl eventually......

jacksmumto1 · 07/06/2004 22:42

Congrats Costamum!! Glad all is going well for you and your little boy!!! (feeling jealous as I didn't ask baby's sex..!!)

Everyone still ok??

I'm eating for england! Seriously.. I am making up for not eating much for 5 1/2 months! Just a shame that only toast and marmalade seem to hit the spot!

Still exhausted and still have horrible hair and spotty skin but in all... doing ok!

hope to hear from you soon!

highlander · 08/06/2004 23:42

anyone getting abdominal muscle stretch pains? I'm only just starting to get a bump (24wks), but the pain over the last week is awful. It's worse at night when I turn over in bed. Will it stop?

God, I hate being pregnant I was prepared for the misery of non-sleeping new babies and painful breastfeeding but this really is starting to depress me - I'm supposed to be blooming!!!!

cazzybabs · 11/06/2004 13:30

jacksmumto1 shall we compete about how spotty we are. I don't remember this from last time - infact I am sure my skin was much better than normal! AND my thighs are getting fatter and I have a bump and I look fat. I am certain now its a boy which is a shame because we only agree on girls names, but dp would really like a boy.

jacksmumto1 · 11/06/2004 15:53

Cazzybabs, I'm sure my spots are worse than your spots!! I didn't have spots last time (and I had a boy) so does that mean it's a girl this time?? I did feel strongly that we were having a boy this time but now I have no "feeling" at all.... perhaps I should do the ring test?!

My hayfever is driving me up the wall... does anyone know what I can do? I have eye drops (can't use with contact lenses) and a nasal spray (water would give the same effect) off the GP.

Highlander - I don't think I have ever "bloomed" as such while pregnant - a myth I reckon!

Hope all are ok!

smellymelly · 11/06/2004 21:03

Sorry to nip in, but I saw your complaints about spots - I suffer badly too when pregnant, and can highly recommend acupuncture as the only thing to ever get rid of them!! Worth a try...

jacksmumto1 · 11/06/2004 21:13

that is interesting but thankfully I can cope with the spots but what can I do with immense exhaustion?? I have been tired all the way through this time but the last 3 days has been so hard - I just want to close my eyes and sleep! GP just tells me that a)my iron levels are fine and b)it will pass when I reach the 2nd trimester... mmmhhhhh... I'm almost 27 weeks now therefore almost the 3rd trimester and I'm STILL exhausted..... something not right there!

littlerach · 11/06/2004 21:47

Jacksmum, I suffer from hayfever and wear lenses, I use the drops at night when I take the lenses out. Also, got prescription for Piriton, although could not get it over the counter, as it does have a warning on for pregnancy. I double checked with the GP and a nurse and then the pharmacist, and none of them could find a reason not to take it in Preg as it does not cross the placenta. However, it can make you sleepy!!!!

jacksmumto1 · 11/06/2004 23:04

Thanks littlerach - do you reckon then that I could get dh to go and get some so I can take it without seeing my gp? If you have double-checked it three times then it should be fine shouldn't it? [query icon!] I'm sleepy enough so I can manage to be even more sleepy!!

littlerach · 11/06/2004 23:15

Wouldn't like to say.
Could call NHS Direct and ask them, always worth a try!! Or google it and see what comes up. Or call local pharmicist. Not much help,am I?!!!
Hope you get a real answer soon!!!!

dinny · 12/06/2004 13:56

Hi everyone. Hope you're all OK. Just got back from lovely week in Cornwall. Didn't want to return to hot London. I'm 27+1 today. Time is flying. Starting to feel really huge now. Not looking forward to getting any bigger in this heat! Does growth slow down a bit in 3rd trimester? Do you reckon it's too late to try and cut down on pigging out with treats???!!

Toothache · 12/06/2004 14:00

Dinny - Just gate crashing this thread for a sec.... Re: growth slowing in the 3rd trimester... A definite NO for me!! I am 31+3 and have exploded in the past 3 wks or so.

I s'pose everyone is different though. I have noticed that I now feel very stretched! Very scary to think that the baby will probably double in weight in the next 6 wks or so.

dinny · 12/06/2004 15:42

Ok, God, Toothache! I will be the size of a bloody whale if I'm about to explode! Don't you reckon you forget just how huge you get when pregnant?

littlerach · 12/06/2004 18:15

Doesn't the baby weigh something like 2lbs at 29 wks, then 3.5lbs at 33 wks, then 5lbs at 35 wks etc!!! And then it gets bigger and bigger and you feel fatter and fatter.....well, that's how it seems!!!!

jacksmumto1 · 12/06/2004 18:24

that's it folks.. make us feel better! We are supposed to be making each other feel wonderful not scaring ourselves!!!

Mind you, I am so so hot and I am staying inside with all windows/doors wide open.... better get the paddling pool out so I can cool off by dipping my feet in!

I have checked with my GP (as NHS direct of no help...) Piriton is fine in pregnancy. They recommended trying nasal sprays and eye drops first but otherwise it is ok. So I hope this is of use to someone-else... Please let it help!
