littlerach · 06/04/2004 11:21

Whereabouts in Wilts are you, Distracted? I am in Trowbridge, West Wilts.

jacksmumto1 · 06/04/2004 17:49

Littlerach and distracted - I am not too far from you both - I am in Yate, just over the border and work in Bath!!

Distracted · 06/04/2004 18:17

I'm in Devizes just down the road from you littlerach and not too far from Yate (although I can't think now exactly where Yate is having said that?)

littlerach · 06/04/2004 19:34

We moved here from Bath a couple of years ago.
What's Devizes like?

jacksmumto1 · 07/04/2004 12:27

Yate is almost on the bristol/bath borders - yate/pucklechurch/wick/bath - as unlike Bath as you can get though being a modern (60's) town!!

dinny · 07/04/2004 14:55

Hello all,
Haven't posted for a while - been hectic. Just had teeth massacred by hygenist - never seen so much blood!

I'm getting lots of movement now and definitely have a bump. Scan on April 26th - will be nervous. Is everyone OK? Dinny x

jacksmumto1 · 07/04/2004 15:52

Hi Dinny - glad to hear all is ok! I have had a lot of bleeding gums as well this time round.

My scan is now the 26th as well and yes I'm nervous too. Just enjoy the sun and try not to think about it!!!

SPD is really painful this week - trying to deal with a 'cranky' toddler in the shops this morning really didn't help matters!

dinny · 07/04/2004 16:00

Hi, Jacksmumto1, only just read earlier posts about your scare - so glad all OK.

Is there anything you do to help your SPD?
Take care, D

jacksmumto1 · 09/04/2004 19:11

Hi everyone - how are you all doing?

Dinny, there is nothing I can do re:SPD barr taking it easy and trying not to lift anything heavy - not easy with a toddler round!!

Those of you who have felt movements... are you feeling them everyday? or do you have a day without noticing any? The reason I ask if that I haven't felt baby move for 2 days and whereas before I attributed this to baby's position, after last weeks scare... I am now feeling paranoid. I'm at work tomorrow and tues so it won't be easy for me to see the midwife for a reassuring check. Help me put my mind at rest!!

jacksmumto1 · 10/04/2004 11:58

Am still feeling paranoid - 'think' I felt a movement last night but not sure, so have arranged to see one of the midwife's (lovely lady I saw when preg with ds)this afternoon to put my mind at rest...

Will let you all know.

Hope all is well with you all

pollingfold · 10/04/2004 15:07

Hi all, haven't been around for a while. Jacksmum great to hear that your scan went well. big relief. Movementwise it was only while I have lieing wide awake at 4am in the morning that I felt any slight movement. That was a few days ago and since then the likelihood of trying to sit still and wait for possible movement is very small. Hoping that the mw gives you the reassurance that you need.

DS is ill again and not in nursery again - this month will have parted with £1200 for 8 days child care - AAAAARRRRGGGHH - and the loss of most of my years holiday entitlement!!!

Sounds like you are all moving, all very exciting. With DS I sold our newing renovated house at 41 weeks pregnant. my Dh went mad as we only had had the carpet down one day after 10 months of bare boards and dust, and I said I was only having a valuation done to make sure that we had covered our costs!! Have to say at 41+1 decided that my hormones had been running wild and therefore was not mentally sane enough to accept an offer on our home!!

Everyones 20 weeks scans must be coming up in the next few weeks. Goodluck.

Have a fantastic Easter, eat plenty of chocolate, hope school holidays don't drive you crrraaaaazzzzzzy!!

jacksmumto1 · 10/04/2004 19:55

Everything is fine - heartbeat nice and strong. Baby very low down at the back of the uterus by the pubic bone hence not feeling much (and probably increased SPD!). Had a good chat to mw who really helped put my mind at rest but aLSO she was happy for me to go whenever I felt the need to have heartbeat checked. Phew!!

Hurry up and chat to me soon!!!!!

dinny · 10/04/2004 22:43

Hello, everyone.

Glad you are feeling reassured, Jacksmum. I don't feel movement every day - definitely not regular yet. The odd big thump really.

Just had fab afternoon - took dd1 up to work for a special CBeebies open day. She met Byron from Storymakers, Sid, Pui, and those Australian koalas. Was fab. Am so tired now - complete over-stimulation.

Who is going to find out the sex of their baby? I'm not (though will drive self potty trying to guess!)

tillymint · 11/04/2004 00:13

Ok, now I'm getting worried. I'm due on Sept 1st (before dinny and jacks I think), but still not fwelt a movement. Had two scans, and heard heartbeat a few weeks ago,BUT not felt a thing. Why? Is it 'cos I'm fat?

Re SPD, I'm finding my visits to osteopath are really helping, also sleeping with pillow between knees. Luckily my dh had experience last year with my SPD which confined me to a chair - so he's doing all shopping and hoovering. Two things that really cause pain are suoermarket trollies and hoovers! Luckily my car is automatic aswell.

jacks - can you get any extrfa help?

distracted - havent forgot maternity wear. But we're away next week - will mprob be after.

jacksmumto1 · 11/04/2004 11:01

Tillymint - I wouldn't worry that you haven't felt much yet - and I don't think size would have much to do with it - the movements I have felt have been very slight 'thumps' plus one squirm; I know others have said they felt 'butterfly flutters'. I think the movements are so light that they can eaasily be missed BUT as I found out yesterday, bub is very low down and therefore position of the baby also affects what you feel. Don't worry - give it another couple of weeks and you'll be asking for a rest!!

Re:SPD - glad you are managing and your dh is helpful!! My dh is supposed to do all the hoovering but that seems to have gone out the window(!) He know's how bad I have been for so in theory he should be helpful but a)I don't think it has sunk in and b)his late work shifts clash with ds's naps so in all it is difficult. My main food shop is delivered by the shop, which is a big help; I just have to get the small weekly veg/milk - I can manage if I have a pushchair with ds but like you say, trolley's are a killer!! Work is bad too but I am making changes on that score so hopefully that will improve over the next month. Have you applied for DLA? I wondered if I could apply so I could have help with cleaning (hoovering!) Driving is also a problem - this was a contributory factor in my being signed off sick last time as I couldn't get to work.. but without my car... I will be stuck in the house with a toddler and not able to do much as I can't walk... difficult to know what to do. I do have the number of someone who works/volunteer for an SPD group in Bristol (thanks to Pie!) - perhaps I should phone and ask to meet up for a chat re:problems.. Do you pay for your osteopath or did you get NHS help?

Dinny - sounds like you and dd had a brill time! How did you find out about it??

Not planning to find out sex - I am convinced it's a boy though we did chesterman-phillips 'timing' to try for a girl (not that I am bothered either way!!) so will also drive myself potty trying to guess!

Distracted · 13/04/2004 01:18

Oh everyone's having their 20 week scans and I've got ages to wait for mine! So is anyone on here going to find out the sex? I'm not - although convinced I'm having a boy (was convinced it was a boy last time too, but it wasn't - different reasons though, more about the fact that I really wanted a girl, so wanted to feel happy about having a boy and get used to the idea).

Littlerach - Devizes is an old fashioned market town. Not overly pretty, although it does have a large number of listed buildings in the centre. It's quite a bit smaller than Trowbridge and known really for having a genuinely old fashioned town centre - lots of grocers and butchers etc., which you don't tend to get much of nowadays and not too many high street names. It does have some nice modern little arty crafy shops too and lots of cafes. Also has a really good market on a Thursday, people come from all around (don't ever drive through Devizes on a Thursday as it's always packed). It's not far from Trowbridge at all - you should visit one day. Trowbridge must be a bit of a change from Bath?

I've entered the competition to win maternity clothes - has everyone else? Actually I didn't like many of the clothes when I looked on the website and it's certainly expensive, but I'm sure I could manage to spend the £150 vouchers if I won them!

Thanks Tillymint re. mat. clothes, hope you had a good week away.

highlander · 13/04/2004 19:05

Greetings from Canada!

Finally reunited with DH, who hasn't seen me since I got preggers. Bit wierd having to get used to sleeping in the same bed with someone else again!

Saw a GP yesterday, booked in for my amnio next week. He did a wee microphone thing to hear the heartbeat which completely took DH and I by surprise. Thankfully it doesn't look like twins! Can't wait to find out the sex. GP is a bit of a hoot; streaked hair and zebra print clogs. Thoroughly approves of me skiing this w/e - I think we're on the same wavelength!

Weather hot, having to wear shades as sun is v bright. Suffering a bit from sensory overload after being shopping yesterday..........

dinny · 14/04/2004 00:14

Hi everyone.

Hope you're all well. I had midwife app yesterday. Heard heartbeat - was great. She said I have low iron levels though. Must eat lots of spinach.

I have found the most lovely birth doula. Really pleased.

Tillymint, wouldn't worry re movements - mine are erratic to say the least. Like Jacksmum says, it's probably just the way it's lying.

Lolabelle · 18/04/2004 12:41

Tillymint - I too am due Sept 1st (well or Aug 31st depending on who you ask!) and I have felt nothing - I am 20 weeks and they say you feel a flutter from about 17/18 weeks so I am panicking a touch. Bought a heart moniter thing from Mothercare over the weekend so lay on the bed every night listening to baby's heartbeat whihc is reasuring but I so desperately want to feel something as i have a massive bump now - has anyone else got a big bump as everyone says i'm huge and i'm worried i am going to be a beached whale!!

niknik · 18/04/2004 20:58

Hope everybody had a nice break.

I can't believe I will be half way on Friday (by my dates - three days later by scan) Looking forward to having my 20 week scan in 10 days time

Lolabelle - Hearing the heartbeat is really reassuring isn't it. I didn't know that you could buy them from Mothercare. How much are they? How often can you use it.

Don't worry about movements yet. I'm sure you will soon be fed up of being kicked in the ribs. Obviously the pregnancy is going well as your growing!

My bump is still quite small really, I don't look obviously pregnant still, just fat, I think I am still at the 'is she isn't she stage'.

I have been feeling movement now for a couple of weeks now, mornings and at night mostly. Started off like butterfly flutterings and seems to have got more vigourous, enough for me to feel when I put my hand on my stomach, but not strong enough for DH to feel.

But then I start to panic when I haven't felt it for a few hours. I drive DH mad with him shouting to 'leave the poor thing alone, its asleep'when he sees me prodding my stomach every 5 minuites

Has anybody started thinking about names. Dh and I where talking about it on Saturday. I can't believe what he came out with!

highlander · 19/04/2004 20:18

Had my amnio yesterday and nearly passed out when the midwife said they don't use a local! Anyway, she was right, it hardly hurt at all going through the abdomen but it did feel pretty rough puncturing the uterus. The scans were amazing, can't beleive how clear the pictures are. We only paid C$5 and recieved 4!
DH (bearing in mind he is a doctor) felt a bit faint at the end when they pulled the needle out
He kept going on about how big the needle was and how the doctor 'just went for it', and how much amniotic fluid they got. I lept off the table and DH had to keep sitting for a while! What a poof - definitely banned from the birth

The bad news from yesterday is that I've discovered a Formes here. Oh dear, credit card battering I suspect...........

ja9 · 21/04/2004 17:12

Hello all! Hope you're well.

It's been an exciting few days for me. I am now 19 weeks. I have begun to feel the baby move ( more than just little flutters which i seem to have missed out on completely), it happens at night when i've settled down into bed but haven't quite drifted off to sleep. In the mornings ( thanks to school hols) i've been lying for ages with my hands on my tummy and it feels so round and firm and pregnant! I love it.

I've also been aware of times when i thought the baby had moved suddenly and was pressing very hard against my belly. But this morning whilst browsing through pregnancy mags, i realised that these were those practise contraction things - Braxton Hicks or whatever they are called.

And to top it all off, whilst washing in the shower this morning, i discoved a yellow leakage from my nipples. How very exciting!! i am going to be a mummy.

Oh, and i almost forgot. Yesterday my new glider rocker arrived.

Can you tell i'm a happy girl?

pollingfold · 21/04/2004 17:21

Good to hear that you are in fine form ja9. You can definitely tell you are a first timer - enjoy every moment you'll have the first time only once so make the most (especially of all those lie ins).

This time round can feel the baby move and thank god its hasn't built up to side splitting strength yet.

No lie ins - DS wakes on the dot of 7am every morning.

Going to yoga, in effort be prepared for contractions this time round

Hoping my boobs will not leak this time round, so won't wake up in sticky puddle every morning or drip on DH if I give him a hug!

Sorry if this sounds negative, its just that I'm jealous of it being your first, so exciting and new. Wouldn't wish my DS away though (execpt between the hours of 7am and 10am!!)

tillymint · 21/04/2004 23:56

Hi all, be prepared this is a long one.....

We sent off last sat for a wonderful family holiday in Ireland. Drive to Holyhead was good, dd1 and dd2 behaved impecabley. Ferry crossing quick and smooth. Hotel apartment lovely! And weather bright and warm. All set for a lovely week....
Spoke too soon. On the sunday dd1 (5Yrs) started to run a temp. All night, sick, couldn't even keep water down. Not much sleep for me then. DH faired better as he had dd2 (8mths) in with him - she only had yellow diahrea, which leaked out and up everywhere. Great start. Still, next morning, we went for a little walk in the sun to get some fresh air. Big mistake - I got eaten by mozzies!!!
Rest of the day dd1 was weak and sick but was trying to be perky - by aftternoon she was bad again, and all night, sick etc with temp now over 39. My bites had started to flare up but had no time to thinkl of myself. Tuesday saw Dr, did tests etc dd1 had a urinary tract infection, quite serious. Not a well bunny. dd2 still with leaky poos, and my arms now quite seriously swollen - Needless to say we caught the first ferry home on Wed.
What a holiday - Thursday I go to my local GP who looks at all my bites and suggests I should be admitted into hospital for anti b drip!!! Lymphagtitis quite bad. I was unable to bend or straigheten my arm by now. It was hard & yellowy. yukk.

Avoided hospital admission since dh was at home and he promised to take care of me. They drew lines around the worse bits. If swelling passed the lines I had to go str to hospital.
Have been taking all sorts of medication, I'm starting to rattle, seems to be easing now - I just feel pooped.
This baby will probably come out stoned, man!
GP also had a quick listen to baby - strong heartbeat (170) and moving a lot - but I still can't feel him.

hey ho. Also our buyers want to complete on
May 27th. eeek. Better find somewhere to live.

tillymint · 22/04/2004 00:00

distracted,
havent forgotten you - just can't find the bag of clothes - hope dh hasn't thrown them!!

jacks
I pay for my osteopath - £30 a session. A l,ot I know but after last year I would have paid £000's to feel better, so I feel its all worth it. My daughters treat me - from child benefit!!
