Hi
I am 43 and expecting my first and these next several months are going to be a challenge so hoping to meet others in the same situation.
I can believe I have a baby growing in my dusty cobweb ridden womb. It has taken me 3 weeks to get my head around the whole thing and it is still worried about the future and being able to cope. My partner is fab and great helping me with the ups and downs of baby hormones. Nothing beats hot sweats, night panics and freeze in the middle of tescos wondering our we doing the right thing. I feel better this week and got my head around things .
Any ladies who also need support or just to have a good moan every now and again. xx
Ps thinking about having a toilet built next to my bed to save time going to the loo quite a bit in the evenings!!

Have been told to see MW or GP if get itchy anywhere on the body, could be linked to liver and gestational diabetes. So check it out if you have the energy after your floors and combination of couch and remote !
I honestly dont know how you do all that, after a 8-4.30 day at work, pick up of DS1 at nursery, cooking, feeding and bathing, i can barely keep myeyes open for a 15 minute of story telling, and need my nap on week ends.... I feel so useless when i read some of you doing the chores, looking after 2 or more older kids, going to the gym...
Got now to get ready to go for the anomaly scan, catch up later !

zimbomaman · 15/03/2012 13:49

Mind if I join you ladies? I'm 40 and just done a home test this morning!! By my calculations I'm 5wks with DC4 (DD1 - 16, DS - 12, DD2 - 15mths). Don't know when and how to break this news to the rest of the family as we're in the middle of selling our home (too small even for the arrival of DD2!) and will have to look for a MUCH bigger place now. Plus, I love my Fiat 500.....

HorseyGirl1 · 15/03/2012 14:58

HI all, hope you are all doing OK. So lovely to see all the older mamas here! Feel a freak on the other threads and never really post but it makes me happy to be part of the gang here. 28 weeks today- YAY! xx

lucylookout · 15/03/2012 15:32

Hello, can I join you too? I'm 40, and 21 weeks with DC2 (due date 21st July, one week before I turn 41!)

york67 · 15/03/2012 15:39

Hi. Had scan today. All good. I measured slightly bigger so date may now be 24th September. Nuchal was low at 1.1. Really pleased as wrong side of 40 but realise I need to wait for bloods to have a clearer idea of risk.

10000fireflies · 15/03/2012 15:42

Hi everyone! Welcome to all newbies! I'll see if I can apply myself to updating the list and will get some more sofas brought into the snug. Great to hear your scan was ok York. How about your Hpbp?

FF

Hpbp · 15/03/2012 16:19

York67, so glad to hear that NT was low, obviously blood tests will have to confirm low risks, but it is a start ! The waiting game again.... :)
FF, thanks for asking, everything is fine, baby very active but could not find out the gender, it refused to let us see... But have a private scan on 20th so maybe will know more next week. I am betting on a boy and my husband a girl, we have the girls' name but can't agree on a boy's one....
Zimbomaman, numb 4 on the way, waouh !!! I love this thread.... And big families, coming myself from a huge one, I am number 9 out of 10.... No way I have 10 but so hopeful and amazed that there are big families out there ! Congratulations
Time to pick up the LO

heidipi · 15/03/2012 16:24

Wow this is a busy thread! I'm hopeless at keeping up. It's good to be on a stats list - feels all official! We haven't told anyone in real life yet.

I'm 6 weeks today I think. Trying to wait another week or 2 before getting in touch with the midwife. Busy busy with work and DD is off nursery with a horrible cold, she's really grumpy. A lovely friend took her out for a couple of hours this afternoon so I could get some work done, which was fab.

Feeling fine, just tired by evening. And DP has manflu, poor lamb.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the sunshine Smile

Sunflower101 · 15/03/2012 17:08

Hi everyone, can I join you on this thread? It's good to know there are so many of us in the gang! And normal too!
I'm 41 and expecting first DC 7th Sept. im 14 +5 days, have been sharing our baby news since scan 2 weeks ago, meeting up with some 'experienced mums' tomorrow for some tips.

ValiumQueen · 15/03/2012 18:25

waves to exexe

thank you for outing me as a fattie Grin

I echo the comments about feeling like a freak on other threads... feeling very happy here Smile

Midgetm · 15/03/2012 19:28

Greetings Sunflower, welcome to the seniors section. Just had scan number 3 (oh yes I said 3). 7w5d and a lively little heartbeat. Really starting to believe this one is a keeper. Exhausted from last nights football shenanigins (ligamnet pain like you wouldn't believe from all that jumping around). Hope you are all feeling fine and dandy. x

Boggler · 15/03/2012 20:37

Feel like I can join in again after having my amnio results back today - all clear!! After after a 1:36 risk following NT scan I was fearing the worst -and deeply regretting getting pg at 43. Who says its only teenagers who are lax with contraception! But now I feel I can relax a bit and dare I say it start to enjoy being an older mum to be. :)

10000fireflies · 15/03/2012 22:46

Evening everyone

Boggler great news about your results. Now relax and enjoy!! xx
Katie good luck for your scan tomorrow. What supplements are you unsure about? Something like Pregnacare or Boots own brand for peggers ladies should be fine.
Hp - naughty little tinker not letting you find out the sex. Hope you find out at your private scan.
LRM - I did get very hungry in first Trimester. Would be starving pretty much bang on 11am every day, even if I had a late/big lunch, but that passes, and now I find eating a large evening meal diff.
OoooohShiny ? sorry about the sickness and exhaustion. Fingers crossed it passed in a few weeks.
Midget goodluck for your scan tomorrow
Tenner -did you get that itching checked out?

I am tired, so not much news from me. Peed off as was waiting in for a delivery alllllll day, so couldn?t get outside in sunshine. It turned up at 7.30pm, mysteriously on doorstep. Hmmmm. Wonder what happened there??!! Still, kept myself on the sunnier side of the flat with windows/back door open so got to enjoy some sunshine. LO starting to make presence felt a bit more which is nice.

Here?s an updated list. If it?s missing details or wrong please copy, update and post. Great to see so many upduffed, fabulous 40-somethings in here. More flowers for us I think. ThanksThanksThanksThanks

Lol ValiumQueen We're the ones who are NOT gonna be fatties after baby is here Grin

Thanks for putting me on the list 10000fireflies

I had a sudden panic attack last night and thought what if I'm not bigger than I'm meant to be by this stage but am expecting twins!!Shock
I'm so scared. I don't think I could cope with that.
Roll on scan date....

york67 · 16/03/2012 10:13

Thanks ladies and thanks for adding me to stats list.
Good to hear the good news too.

shinysideup · 16/03/2012 10:40

Hello, can I join you (tho my visit may be brief)?
I'm 45 and expecting DC2 on Sunday 18th March. DD1 is 25 yrs old.

HCPs have been delightfully uninterested in my advanced years which is reassuring and my pregnancy so far has been wonderfully uneventful. If he hasn't made an appearance by the 27th I am booked in for a C section but would prefer to try for a vaginal birth. DD1 was a section as breech.

So c'mon baby, we're ready now!

Congratulations to everyone on here, lovely to hear about so many 40+ ladies. I know in the early days I felt like a bit of a freak and spent a small fortune on private scans but as time has gone on, much less so.

10000fireflies · 16/03/2012 10:52

Of course you can shineysideup! congratulations and welcome! Hope you will keep us updated. Maybe add yourself to the list and post? You could be our first graduate!!!

zimbomaman · 16/03/2012 12:40

DH and DD1 came in so late last night that I kept my news to myself and 'slept on it'! I'm dying to tell DH though!!

Thanks for the congrats Hpbp.

Due date should be around 13th Nov if I've got my dates right! DD2 was born 3 wks before due date so we'll have to see what eventual scans come up with.
Living in France, we're lucky enough to have a brief scan at each appointment and 3 detailed ones.

It's such a lovely day that I think DD2 and I shall go to the park and contemplate all the hows, whys, whens etc in the sunshine. Have a lovely relaxing Friday afternoon ladies.

Hey ladies
Huge welcome to all our new ladies, WOW we are a busy bunch. I have had a really busy week at work. M&S is so keeping me a busy bee. Had a days holiday today so operation house work. Took 10 minutes out to see whats been happening on the thread and excited to see loads of new friends. Partner is going nuts decorating the down stairs loo. We moved in 10 years ago and did every room except this one.
valiumqueen - Made me laugh when u said being outed as a fattie!!! I was a fattie my biggest was 18 stones, managed to get down to 11 stone 11lbs in Jan , I stopped smoking and blow up and was eating everything in view . So I lost the weight and became a bit a gym addict lifting weights. Since finding out 4 weeks ago I have slipped off the no carbs wagon. I dont think just having meat and veg is too balanced diet so bread and pasta all tast brillant. ( any excuse eh ).
Good luck sunnyside up - We all look forward to hearing you are home and relaxed .
So impressed with all you ladies juggling being pregnant looking after other kids and managing everything else in your lives. Only demands I have is my cat wanting treats when ever I go into the kitchen.
Blogger - Glad all your tests came back clear you can relax now , I am nervous about my scan 5th April. I had one at 6 weeks when I had quite a few pains on my right side. I was told only 1 in there. I was worried as I am twin and was worried about two. My work mates keep saying one could have been hiding at the time of the scan OMG.
Heididip - Hope your little girl is feels better, partner is full of cold, hope I dont get it but will as been together 21 years and everyone he gets one I get one. Just a bummer if I do as a normally drug myself with everything Boots has to offer but not this time.

I know this is sad but really excited about having a chinese for tea on Saturday night
Egg fried rice, chicken and black bean sauce with a bag of chips then some cake. Since being pregnant I think about food most of my day.
Has anyone found that everyone thinks as you are older and pregnant we should be taking it easy like a pensioner is a care home ? Or should I chill and go with the flow and take the opportunity to do feck all !!!. Must admit partner is happy to fuss around me with cups of tea and on demand cheese and crackers at 11 at night when I get the nibbles.
