Hi
I am 43 and expecting my first and these next several months are going to be a challenge so hoping to meet others in the same situation.
I can believe I have a baby growing in my dusty cobweb ridden womb. It has taken me 3 weeks to get my head around the whole thing and it is still worried about the future and being able to cope. My partner is fab and great helping me with the ups and downs of baby hormones. Nothing beats hot sweats, night panics and freeze in the middle of tescos wondering our we doing the right thing. I feel better this week and got my head around things .
Any ladies who also need support or just to have a good moan every now and again. xx
Ps thinking about having a toilet built next to my bed to save time going to the loo quite a bit in the evenings!!

Happy Mums day - hope the buns are behaving in the oven

Ive managed to put feet up- hubbie taken our kids out rugby great to read all your preggy news

What a week ive had, has anyone had a pre 12 week scan- i had one friday they told me it was normal but too early yet to say if pregnancy viable.

Ive had the tears, emotional breakdown at work in the toilet and also felt dizzy on thursday xx luv to all

Midgetm · 18/03/2012 13:49

Afternoon,

champers - I've had 3 scans already. Reassurance scans really and to check not EP. Why are they suggesting you are having one?

mrsN - you are right. If chromosonal it is a numbers game and nothing will help but a bit of good luck. Although the positive flip side is there could be a good egg in there (this is what I tell myself anyway!). Good sign that your symptoms are raging though. Got everything crossed for you. X

Been to the gym, taken DD swimming and now ready to crawl into bed already. My stamina has got up and gone.

Told the in laws yesterday and now wish I hadn't. With my dodgy history I have no place feeling so confident. Feel I have tempted fate. Must get a grip.

Hpbp · 18/03/2012 16:24

Dear all, think positive, around this time next year, we will all have a wonderful 5/6 month baby added to the family and no time at all to chat on MN.... Our worries will be weaning... Lets be optimistic and cheer up, the week end is not over and we are all pregnant as one of us said earlier.

littleredmonkey · 18/03/2012 21:16

Evening ladies
Champs - I had an early scan at 6 weeks thought it was EP, then they thought it was my appendix,( bloody hell) after 3 nights in hospital and many blood tests and pee tests later they sent me on my merry way. They scan me and did the measurements and I saw the heart beat. The whole time I kept thinking that little peanut is in me. When I had my midwifes a appointment she gave me a long list of scans I need, all routine she said for an old bird like me. Hope you have a better week next week honey and find time to smile . Have u seen your midwife yet ?

Midgetm - I have been debating telling my mum and dad for weeks about the news, fearing a negative response in some form. I did not like the idea of embrassing my partner by swearing up a storm and was really really really surprised they were dead chuffed for us today. Even if they were negative, so be it not everyone is going to excited about the news but hey ho. Tough shit I say as long as you are happy and keep all negative energy away from you. They will come round if not Boo Hoo to them. I know I have enough to cope with just keeping sane myself without others bumming you out . As Hpbp said we wont have time to worry about others we will have our bundles of joys to worry about.

Been a busy weekend managed the gym twice and swim twice. Also realised eating a big chinese for tea is not great. My body is not processing it very well and I fear it may be here for some time.

and mrsnesbit - Your are right everything does happen for a reason and you are pregnant and it is very exciting, so keep smiling .

MrsNesbit the rage is a great symptom!! I had totally forgotten about it until it hit me again this time. It was overwhelming at around 5/6 weeks. It's eased up now (or perhaps I'm managing it better!)

waves to everyone

44, Preg #7, 1DS, 11+2, last scan at 10+6.

Midgetm · 19/03/2012 09:00

My rage used to be saved for DH, I now find this time round it is indiscriminate and could be directed at random strangers. Told someone off yesterday for parking in a disabled bay. I was livid.

mrsnesbit · 19/03/2012 09:50

yes positive postings from now on..

4weeks and 2 days and all is well! Grin so far Grin

having a lazy day as i have a day off work, going to do some ebaying and cleaning, ive bunged some chicken in the slow cooker for tea, sorted.

Debbbie68 · 19/03/2012 11:07

just taken a test on Friday as period 5 days late, just in case as had a night out on Saturday and my god it was positive! I am 44 in July and have two aleady, 12 and 6! Terrified about all the things that can go wrong, and about miscarrige in particular....

york67 · 19/03/2012 13:52

Just told dc I am pregnant and they are thrilled. Really pleased as was worried how 6 year old would react. He has been the baby! for so long.
Fingers crossed for good outcomes. Especially those who are worried.

Midgetm · 19/03/2012 16:47

york glad the family took it well. I can't wait till the NT scan when I intend to tell DD. I think she will be delighted. I hope so anyway!

Well to all you gym goers I thought I would share my advice I got from the up duff expert. Basically I had been totally overdoing it and I have to totally change my programme. She said working your abs is a waste of time and just fighting mother nature. Oops a daisy. No laying flat, HR under 130 (I thought it was 145). Ok to do side planks, focus on glutes, chest hamstrings. Blimey. All a bit boring really but better be safe than sorry.

randomimposter · 19/03/2012 20:04

thanks midget for the gym advice. It's absolutely no use to me, I can't even spell gym really interesting. Grin

10000fireflies · 20/03/2012 08:08

Morning all Hope you're doing ok today and have been enjoying some good weather. Welcome all newbies and special waves to Jolls. Glad you could join us. I've had a busy few days so not done a good job of assimilating everyone's news, but will try to catch up and do a better post soon.

We are slowly accummulating baby stuff now. Finally dare to do so at 27+ weeks. Have been given some v cute t-shirts from OshKosh by a friend visiting from the US. Found a v cheap Moses basket and stand in charity shop, plus a change mat for 2 quid. (stoopid cheapo keyboard's got no pound sign!!) We also bought a very sweet wrist and foot rattle set. So, getting there, and starting to apply self to packing hospital bag. Never, ever, ever expected to get to this stage. Realised a few days back that LO arrives on the anniversary of our first failed round of IVF. Feel very lucky.

Sticky, positive vibes to you all. FF xx

champas · 20/03/2012 09:32

Just logged in club to say its bye bye from me im sorry to say its not the happy ending this time for me.
Just been ill all nite all over, ive never experienced a miscarriage before nature can be so cruel.

Best wishes for all of you xxxx

Velo · 20/03/2012 10:07

champas so sorry to read your news. My thoughts are with you - make sure you take the time that you need to recover.

I have a progesterone question - I was hoping to stop supplements at the 12 weeks phase but now I read that it's ofter prescribed to women to around 30 weeks or so in order to help prevent miscarriage. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Hpbp · 20/03/2012 10:30

Champas, take it easy, take your time and don't give up.

I am totally with Velo, the supplement thing and Vitamin D are a total mystery for me. some MW say to take some supplement like Pregnacare to the end, some say to stop at 12 weeks, Vitamin D is new... I am as lost as you are Velo. Will see a MW this afternoon, will ask again and let you all know her answer. Lets hope it is conclusive this time.

FF, well done ! I unpacked some baby clothing from my DS1 a month ago to wash and prepare for this second baby. Have looked at pushchairs and conducted survey on washable nappies. Arguing gently with DH on a boy's name ! But apart from that, have not done anything yet but I am behind you at 21 weeks only

10000fireflies · 20/03/2012 17:20

champas so sorry to hear your news. Thinking of you, and wishing you a speedy recovery. It's v early days for you, but there is another 40+ group I am a member of. Is specifically for those TTC, but lots of MC experience too. They are a very warm and sensitive group. Let me know if you want the link. In the meantime, lots of hugs, some Wine if you feel up to it, or a Brew, some Thanks and lots of chocolate. Hope you are being taken good care of in RL. FF xx

Midgetm · 20/03/2012 20:39

champas so sorry to hear your news. Mother nature can be a bitch. X

ValiumQueen · 20/03/2012 20:48

So sorry champas

Tennerlady · 20/03/2012 21:21

Champs so sorry I hope you ok x x x

Hpbp · 21/03/2012 09:36

Saw a very nice MW at UCLH yesterday. Here are her advices on supplements:

Folic Acid: high quantity for the first 12 weeks and then stop
Pregnacare type of supplement: can be used throughout the whole pg, there is a little amount of Folic Acid but it is OK
Omega 3: throughout whole pg
Vitamin D: check with GP if needed, depends a lot on the individual

21 week scan has showed shorter Femur Lenght below 5th centile, sign of Down's syndrom ? on the other side, my risk was low at 1/1694 and I am not very tall... so I have to go through further exams at the FMU tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed for me please. And it is a baby girl, OH thrilled ! everything else seemed fine...

10000fireflies · 21/03/2012 09:44

hpbp keeping everything xd for you.

zimbomaman · 21/03/2012 09:57

Champas so sorry. Rest and stay strong.

exexe · 21/03/2012 10:26

Champas really sorry to hear your news. look after yourself.

I've suddenly stopped feeling sick today so I think I've got through the first trimester. I even fancied my first cup of coffee today.
I have had no proper drs appointment or scan dates or anything. Its really pissing me off.
Its mainly because I got 3 negative results and the drs say the don't do anything about first or second missed periods. By the time I took a test and got a positive and was then able to get an appointment I was probably about 10 weeks!
Though really, I still don't know much.
I have an appointment today so hopefully things will get moving now.

randomimposter · 21/03/2012 13:52

champas so sorry, MC is such a horrible time :(

hpbp lovely news on team pink, all crossed that further investigations go ok.

waves to everyone - just sorting out clothes, and tentatively putting "skinny" summer clothes in one pile to be packed away. Haven't got any mat clothes out yet, but will need to soon if all continues ok. Might even have had a quick peek at JJMB and Boden for what might be available... last successful pregnancy was September - May, so have no really summery clothes...

Midgetm · 21/03/2012 14:06

HpbP glad you are delighted with the flavour - I would be too my DH keeps telling me off for saying I want another girl. He is right. Healthy baby will do me nicely but secretly I would love another little girl. Sounds like the shortness is more likely genetic. Us little people don't tend to go along with national averages. Got everything crossed for you.

Exexe surely 1 missed period means you are pregnant. They really hedge their bets don't they but ignoring it till so late in the first trimester. Cheeky swines. Hope they get moving with a scan date. i have 2nd trimester envy - can't wait to shift that sick feeling and feel more confident in the pregnancy.

Jollster I am trying not to think too far ahead but can't help but daydream of the few nice bits of maternity wear I will treat myself too all being well. I have old stuff but I am a lot smaller now so in my mind I may need to replace it all (cue DH groaning and hitting his forhead as I have kept it in the loft for 4 years).....

Good news from me - Been to RMC @ St Mary's and the bean is still alive and kicking. 8weeks4days and a repeat scan in 2 weeks. They are chirpy and positive so I will be too. This one may be here to stay. Hope you are all doing well Old timers x
