Hi
I am 43 and expecting my first and these next several months are going to be a challenge so hoping to meet others in the same situation.
I can believe I have a baby growing in my dusty cobweb ridden womb. It has taken me 3 weeks to get my head around the whole thing and it is still worried about the future and being able to cope. My partner is fab and great helping me with the ups and downs of baby hormones. Nothing beats hot sweats, night panics and freeze in the middle of tescos wondering our we doing the right thing. I feel better this week and got my head around things .
Any ladies who also need support or just to have a good moan every now and again. xx
Ps thinking about having a toilet built next to my bed to save time going to the loo quite a bit in the evenings!!

Hi Ladies,
Hope you are all well.
Tennerlady good luck tomorrow! Sure it will be fine, will keep everything crossed for you. RE tiredness, I've missed quite a few days at work as it has totally knocked me off my feet so don't feel bad over taking a day off!
10000fireflies, I really like being pregnant, which has surprised me! but I still cannot shake the tiredness!! Wonder if I should start back on my supplements again but I've read conflicting things about taking them.
I have my 20 week scan on Friday, at the 12 week scan the little monkey was doing headstands and dancing all over the place so hoping to see more antics this time! BTW I was surprised how uncomfortable the scan was!

Midgetm · 12/03/2012 22:08

tennerlady good luck with the scan tomorrow. Got everything crossed for you. Know how daunting it is after an EP and plenty of MC's. Here's hoping for a flicker. I have my 8 week one on Thursday. I may not breathe between now and then. Managed Pilates but did a lot of flopping and yawning. Still I am sure it tightened that pelvic floor just a tad. Welcome lovey new people and night night all x

Tennerlady · 13/03/2012 18:31

Hi ladies good news baby in correct place and hb there measuring about 7wks but they said not to worry as this can happen and keep my date until dating scan so I'm 8 wks today and this is a viable pregnancy hurrah down side put me on insulin today and they were too busy to book me in so got to go next week and get bloods ect done and book in arrange scans ect .... littleredmonkey · 13/03/2012 20:01

My gut is on max bloat so happy in bed rather then gym this evening. When i touch my stomach it feels rock solid is this ok ? it is solid from my bikini line to bottom of my boobs. Sorry to be a worry wart .

lrm I think it is normal. Mine is like a basketball. Did go to the gym but it was kill or cure and it killed me. I can barely keep my eyes open.

tennerlady congrats again on the scan. like LRM says, I am sure he will come round.

Hpbp · 13/03/2012 20:30

Tennerlady: this is very good news, I am very excited for you! You are so brave, 3 kids and a baby soon ! I wish I were as brave as you are.

I have my 20 week scan on Thursday, can't wait, hope everything will be fine, can feel baby kicking gently for the past 2 weeks, and will find out. Somehow hope to have a daughter this time but scared that she makes me pay when becomes a teenager as I have been myself a rebel from 14 to 25!!!!! But wish also to have another boy so that the 2 of them can play and fight together later.... no matter what, as long as the baby is in good health we will be happy.

Starting to think about money. This crisis gIves me concerns. My firm has 3 activities and one of them ceased to trade last week. A second is at risk. I don't really know what the future holds for me as the accountant of the company. For the first time, I feel worried, although I have gone through 2 mergers, 2 relocations, and a bit of unemployment at the very beginning of my active working life. Guess it s the responsibility of being a parent that is kicking in....

Long introduction to say that I am thinking about using washable nappies. So you might see me in another thread about these even if it is still early times....

Good night everyone

gingergran · 13/03/2012 20:39

fezziwig I read your post as having 2 DC, one of 16 months and one of 8 months and wondered how you could possibly have another one cooking!!! Was mighty impressed

littleredmonkey · 13/03/2012 20:43

I told my boss today - she is a year younger than me, and she said OMG! You need an urgent psychiatric assessment Grin

DD2 is not sleeping, and I work full time. SO BLOODY TIRED! And my tummy looks more like 6 months than 6 weeks!

KatieDingus · 13/03/2012 21:32

Tennerlady so glad everything is OK!

york67 · 14/03/2012 15:07

Hi. Can i join? feel like a dinosaur on my antenatal thread. I am 44 and I am 12 weeks pregnant. Due end September.
It has been a real rollercoaster so far. Not planned but now really excited. Had some bleeding at 9 weeks but had an early scan and was ok.
Now stressed about dating scan tomorrow as miscarried before at 12 weeks. Also concerned about antenatal testing. Decided to have neuchal scan and bloods but not sure yet re amnnio which I understand I can have due to age.
What did you ladies decide to do?

york67 · 14/03/2012 15:14

Its dc 3 for me btw. Already have an 8 and a 6 year old. Due date 29th September.

Hpbp · 14/03/2012 15:45

York67, welcome ! congrats !
all of you give me hope... I can still have a 3rd baby...
don't worry too much about the ammio, wait for the results of Nuchal scan and Blood test, then decide to go or not for Ammio, no need to think about it in advance. I was like you and when the results came back with a risk of 1/1694 (yes, UCLH gave me this precision), I know it is not 100% accurate and it is an estimated percentage, but still my DH and I decided not to go further. Ammio is not risk free either.
good luck for tomorrow, everything will be fine.

champas · 14/03/2012 17:25

Hi littleredmonkey

I am pleased for you sounds like you will be a great mum with an upbeat attitude.

I can relate to the adjusting thing to being pregnant- i am only 4/5 weeks pregnant now at the grand young age of 46 la la la, but it was a complete unplanned shock.
How far along are you? i wish you well.

littleredmonkey · 14/03/2012 19:29

Evening ladies
All is dandy with me today, did a good days work, done some house work and rewardibng myself again with a peanut butter and jam sandwich. May have re think all the peanut butter. Does anyone else keep thinking about food all day. I have had the thought of a massive chinese with chips and cheese cake for afters all day. I need to be careful the 5 stone I lost will soon reappear on my twins ( that what i call my bum ) !!!
Hey Champas - Thank you so much for saying i will be a great mum, made my day honey .xxx I still wake up at night thinking me really a mum by October wow. There are 3 ladies at work pregnant and I must be the lucky one as full of beans they are knackered and often nipping to the lunch to be sick. I am 10 weeks this thursday. Congrats to u also. U must be excited is it your first?
York 67 - Welocme to the gang, the more the merrier. Good luck with the scan Thursday let us know how u get on. We will all be thinking of you. I have agreed to all the stuff you are having but like HpBp said you can decide about the ammio if you need to.
Tennerlady - Hope you had a less stressful day after the scan?
MidgetM - Any further trips to the gym, I could not be bothered but will manage a session Thursday. By the end of the week would have done 50 hours at work so the gym can whistle this week. My go and flap my arms about on Saturday though.
ValiumQueen - Hows the belly today, I am on max bloat at the moment, amybe its the peanut butter sandwiches !!!

Hi all, it's brilliant reading this thread knowing there are lots of us older mums to be out there. I'm 46 and 6 weeks pregnant with no 3. Other two are 10 and 8 so will be going back into baby mode. Really excited about it but nervous about all the implications of being older and getting the tests. Good luck to everyone on here over the coming months x

littleredmonkey · 14/03/2012 19:53

Never mind the olympics and jubilee !! It the year of the older mums. 2012.
This time next year we will be looking forward to our Mothers day treats Thanks

Can I join in?? I'm 40 and expecting my first early October (i think...have had 2 different dates so far lol). By my reckoning I'm 11+3, I've had 2 scans so far both looking good and I have my next scan on the 28th.

I've been pretty miserable with nausea for the past 6 weeks or so...24 hours a day unfortunately and I'm now at the stage of struggling to work because I'm so exhausted with it...hopefully it will end soon.

Nice to see so many of us 'seniors' here lol

littleredmonkey · 14/03/2012 21:26

Hi OooohShiny,
Welcome to the gang, Hope you feel brighter soon. Take extra time to relax and make time for yourself. Nice bath bubbles and candles. Rubbish magazine your favourite drink and some small nibbles to keep your strength up and the thought all us seniors are behind ya. I am also expecting baby 1 its scarey but we will get there all together so feel free to rant, laugh , cry and help us all through the journey. This thread has helped me through the last couple of weeks of self doubt and can I cope worrys. Feel much more positive last 2 weeks .. xxxxxxxxxxxx

Evening oldies and eel one newbies. 12 hour day at work and then went to see Chelsea. Far too much jumping around for my poor stretching ligaments. Knackered. Scan tomorrow for me too. Hope my luck continues...

ValiumQueen · 15/03/2012 07:48

Belly bigger. More knackered. Odd dreams. Lots of stretching pains. Boobs heaving. Constant nausea.

I am 7 weeks, and guess I should probably think about seeing the doctor. Not as stressed as I was with the other two, probably as I have neither the time or the energy.

I plan to have as many scans as I can, but no testing at all as we would not do anything about it anyway.

exexe · 15/03/2012 09:36

Hello Can I join here. I've 'met' ValiumQueen on a slimming thread Smile

I'm 40 and expecting no. 3. I've got my first drs appointment this morning so I don't really know when I'm due exactly but I suspect beginning of October.

I'm having some mild nausea but am totally off lots of food. I only seem to want dryish food like toast, crackers, crisps, sandwiches etc
Strangely I am off water too which is very unusual as I love to drink lots of water. I'm forcing myself to drink it though.

Tennerlady · 15/03/2012 09:36

Hi ladys hope you all ok I feel a lot calmer today thank god had long day in work yesterday then came home did the lads activitys drop of pick up run (they do somthing every night between the 3 of them) then cooked tea and stood and ironed for 2 hours but oh so glad thats done only got to mop floors then back on track keep thinking if i cant keep up with things now how am ever going to manage with another baby as well !!!!!!

going to have a nice relaxing morning as soon as iv done floors as i deserve it and going to have a couch morning with the remote.

Is anyone else having terrible iching everywere on there body is this normal never had it with other 3 ????

exexe · 15/03/2012 10:41

Well that was a strange visit to the docs.
He's convinced that I'm further along than I think I am. This pregnancy has been so odd. Negative pregnancy tests and even a period if I take the drs word. I have never had this with the other pregnancies.
I just want a scan so I can clear up all this confusion.

Enjoy your morning Tennerlady. Sounds like you def deserve it.
