Oh and sorry charles about mlu birth being off the table.. looks like I'm heading that way too.. but good luck with induction! You'll be meeting your baby soon :)

alwaysanauntie · 22/05/2012 07:12

sircharles so sorry about the pre eclampsia diagnosis & big change to your plans. On the plus side at least it's been picked up which means you & baby will be given the right care & both get through labour safely. Will be thinking of you today, good luck! :) xx

iowmum88 · 22/05/2012 07:31

Good luck sircharles thinking of u and hope all goes well!

hippieshake · 22/05/2012 08:24

Good luck sircharles I know it's stopped your ideas of a water birth... but at least you'll be meeting your little one :)

Littlerayofsunshine · 22/05/2012 12:35

Good luck Sircharles

How is everyone?

40+1 here :( niggles, increased discharge today, baby has slowed down lots now...Hmm mw tomorrow for another sweep (yuk)

Saltytomato · 22/05/2012 13:17

sircharles good luck! I can't have a water birth cos of my high blood pressure either, which sucks, but whatever is best for the baby....

cupcake that's how my midwife described it too. You would think they would have some kind of constancy across the board, but obviously not!

littleray hope that you go into labour soon. Are sweeps horrible? I'm thinking of asking for one at my midwife appointment tomorrow, I'll only be 39+3 though so don't know if that's too early, getting so impatient now!

Hoe everyone is doing well xx

Russki · 22/05/2012 13:54

Hello all

Babies arriving fast and furious, it seems! I gave birth to Rosie on Saturday - but only just had a chance to sit down and write. Spent a lovely couple of days in hospital with husband "rooming in" and the baby, and now back home and finding out just how unprepared we were. We don't even have a baby bath!

Anyway, absolutely over the moon - all a bit of a blur now. Went into labour very quickly with contractions starting off about four minutes apart, to the point that my husband just didn't believe me, and said it couldn't possibly be the beginning! And she was out about 13 hours later.

Best of luck to everyone who's yet to pop.

Littlerayofsunshine · 22/05/2012 14:08

Congratulations Ruski :)

Salty me too, I have my 2nd one tomorrow so who knows. For some bizarre reason I have the date of the 25th in my head :s but what do I know, I thought this one would be early!! DD was 40+5... I am 40+1... (please dont be later that + baby!!) Sweeps aren't too bad, not comfy but its over & done with quick enough. my mw was fine and explained what she was doing so i didnt freak out even though i've had them before with DD and infact given birth lol Hmm

hippieshake · 22/05/2012 19:11

Congratulations Russki so many little girls, where are the boys? On saying that though everyone in my NCT class so far has had a boy... my little girl might end up being the only one in the group.

I have my next MW appointment at 39+4 and I want to ask to be booked in for a sweep at 40 weeks. Can you just ask for one? Or do they get quite uppity about it?

Littleray sending vibes your way for everything to get going.

Thanks for all of the advice on the engaged thing... it would be so much better if they all just told us the same thing.

Littlerayofsunshine · 22/05/2012 20:55

;-(

I really feel so agitated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I honestly feel like my brain is going to explode with the amount i have thinking in there. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH Angry

iowmum88 · 24/05/2012 09:38

Aww littleray hope ur feeling better!!
Well yesterday was eventful had a wasps nest in a vent on side of house so they where getting in the house it was horrible had 2 stay indoors with all windows n doors shut and in this heat it wasn't pretty but hopefully all sorted now and can get poor DS in the garden!!
I have no clothes 2 wear so have stolen DPs shorts and am wearing tops that r 2 small (around the house n garden only) just to keep cool! But can't complain about the sunshine!! Got sweep in 6 days so I'm hoping I go in2 labour before then but doubt it. Pelvis is hurting more today so hoping that means things are moving along!
Hope everyone is surviving and not melted and sweaty like me!!

SirCharles · 24/05/2012 13:18

We had a baby boy yesterday lunchtime! He is gorgeous. Both DH & I are totally smitten. They kept us in over night for observations but should be allowed home shortly.
I will write up my birth story when I get a chance. Funny to contrast it with my birth plan.... Best laid plans & all that!!
Good luck to all those of you still waiting to pop.
Whoever asked about sweeps - MWs down here will give them in the 39th week. I was told you can have 3 a week from then until they induce you!! If your cervix is a bit ripe then it should be no worse than a smear but if not I understand it can be a little uncomfortable. I had one at 40+2 & barely felt anything. However it is a bit weird!!!! Birth on the other hand is uncomfortable and very weird!!!!!!!

Saltytomato · 24/05/2012 13:27

sircharles congratulations! That's fantastic! Did it end up getting induced or did they just do sweeps? I might have to be induced next week and am quite scared....

hippie my midwife wouldn't do a sweep on me even though I asked and am 39+3, but my blood tests came back a but funny so have to go to the hospital again tomorrow and if they are still up then I reckon the will induce me.

I got to have an ultrasound this morning though to make sure the baby was all ok and he is measuring nice and big and weighing around 8.5 pounds already so that's great!

iowmum you poor thing being locked indoors yesterday! All my maternity tops seem too small as well, an well, it's the final days hopefully!

hippieshake · 24/05/2012 17:18

Congratulations sircharles Did you end up being induced? Have you got a name yet?

Thanks for the advice on sweeps, I figure there's no harm in asking when I go to my appointment. The problem I have is that there's the Jubilee weekend smack bang after my due date.. so all the Midwife appointments are getting pushed back, which would mean I wouldn't be able to see anyone until at least 41 weeks. At least if I can get booked in for around then, I wouldn't have to wait until I was about to pop :)

On a slightly ranting note... Is anyone else getting REALLY annoyed with family/friends/general people you kind of know asking if the baby is coming everyday? My Mum phones everyday to ask if I've had any twinges, the retired men on the park where I walk my dogs ask how fed up I am everyday, and my friend (who I'm actually not that friendly with anymore) keeps going on and on about it. The funny thing is that I'm not remotely bothered when she comes, sure it'd be nice if she came now... but at the end of the day I'll be 42 weeks pregnant 3 weeks tomorrow, so she will definately be here then. I just know that when she's older my family will spin the story and be all like, 'you're Mum was so impatient for you to come out.' I'm on the verge of choking someone :)

Enfyshedd · 25/05/2012 09:54

Morning everyone. Well that was eventful to say the least...

Short version - Catrin Sian was born at 7.15pm on Monday 21st. Had a low oxygen issue so we were transferred to Special Baby Care in Singleton Hospital, Swansea where we've spent 3 nights. Can't thank the team there enough even though my little monkey seems to have put the frighteners on everyone for seemingly nothing (although it appears that she has a dislocated hip which has nothing to do with anything else) and has been transferred back to our local hospital yesterday for "normalising" and should be home in a few days.

Will be joining the FB group later and will have a birth story written up on there.

Haven't really read everyone else's posts yet & just going down to the hospital now to see her again. Will update later Grin

Alisonjayjay · 25/05/2012 13:31

Congratulations to everyone who has now had their beautiful babies! I'm looking forward to hearing all the birth stories! :)

Hippieshake I know exactly how you feel. I'm also getting really irritated with everyone asking if I've had any twinges etc. it's really getting on my nerves. Hopefully we won't need to hear it much longer!

Well I'm 40 weeks today! I feel like the big day might be soon. I was induced at 41 + 5 with ds but this time feels different. tmi I've had loads of bowel movements over the last two days and I think I may be losing my mucous plug. I've had a lot of increased vaginal discharge (watery) for a few days and now seem to be losing a sticky, creamy coloured mucous. Is this my mucous plug? It's not like normal vaginal discharge at all. It isn't bloody at all but wondering if it's the start of something.
I've also been having more and more braxton hicks. Last night I was having at least 6 an hour but today have only had a few. Anyone else experienced this?

Wommer · 25/05/2012 20:16

Congrats all on the new babies!! Looking forward to hearing all of the birth stories Smile

hippie I know EXACTLY what you mean!! I'm not fed up of being pregnant - 40+5 - but I'm definitely fed up of people assuming I am and also the sheer volume of people asking if I've had "any movement" yet... Ffs!!
If I have I'll tell you, or if I have and you haven't heard then there's a bloody good reason for it!!
One friend has just taken to sending me the same text everyday..."baby?"
That's it... Nothing else. One solitary word. And then I get berated for being lazy when I stopped replying....grrrrrr

alison I've also had that creamy mucousy stuff today - had a sweep yesterday which did get contractions going for a few hours but they stopped over night. Am hoping this creamy stuff means something's occurring.
The midwife said that I'm 2cm dilated and my cervix is down to 1cm thick and soft... Am hoping this means something happens soon. Really want to avoid going over 42 weeks as I really really want a water birth and they won't let you past a certain point. That's the only reason I'm getting anxious about it being late.

Hope all are well and coping with the heat ok! Fish and chip time here!
Xxxxx

alwaysanauntie · 26/05/2012 13:16

Hi all, hope those still pregnant aren't suffering too much in the heat and those with little ones are finding ways to be outside without the LOs getting the sun (I'm relegated to sitting in the house with doors/windows open as not enough shade in the right places in our garden Angry.

I have posted my birth story on the antenatal thread but it is EPIC so if you'd like to read it make sure you have plenty of time.

Now have a smelly squaking baby I have to sort out so will catch up later xx

Littlerayofsunshine · 26/05/2012 20:25

Congratulations to all. :)

Update from me - All I can say is that I truly cannot believe that this little one is potentially going to go even later than DD did (DD was born at 40+5 which I am today) I honestly can't believe it. I thought things were kicking off yesterday but died down. I think my body prepares slow early labour then when established labour appears it happens fast.

I just feel very down now, stretching day by day (mark by mark :()

Russki · 27/05/2012 16:38

Congratulations all, and littleray hope it happens soon for you!

Was just trying to find the antenatal thread - does anyone have a link to it?

Otherwise, barely coping with the sleepless nights, but absolutely enchanted with our little girl. Never really imagined I could feel this way...

hippieshake · 27/05/2012 20:47

Hello,

Just letting everyone know that I gave birth to Beatriz Rosa Johnson yesterday (Saturday 26th May) at 5:53am, she weighs 7lbs 4oz and she's got lots of dark hair, just like Daddy.

Pretty difficult labour. Woke up on Friday morning to find blood gushing out of me, so had to go into hospital at 9:30am where they told me I was 2cm dilated and I was having contractions every 10 mins, but not that strongly. I was admitted to the ward and told I couldn't go home because of the bleeding. Carried on bleeding all day and contractions got to 6mins apart by tea time... DH left at 10 and all of a sudden my contractions went to every 3 mins and were awful in my back. Got up to nip to the loo and lost a big amount of blood. Cue dramatic OBEM style panic... had midwives and consultants all around me, and DH rushing back to the hospital. Got transferred to the delivery suite where they burst my waters and said that they thought Baba might be getting distressed and it was possible my placenta was coming away, I was still only 3cm dilated and if nothing happened within the hour they were going to induce me. They burst a vein in my hand getting the drip line in, and by then it'd been 15 hours. So against everything I had wanted I had an epidural, which only numbed my right side. So they gave me more which numbed the left too, but then the right went completely dead. The rest went by in a haze of losing lots of blood and water... then at 5:30 they said her head was sat right there and I was fully dilated. Started pushing at 5:40, and she arrived at 5:53. Then I started projectile vomiting all over the Midwives and the delivery suite. By the time we left to go to the ward it looked like somebody had died in there!

She is totally amazing though, and so worth it!!

I hope everyone who's still waiting gets to meet their little ones soon. Good luck girls! xx

Wommer · 27/05/2012 21:33

Congratulations hippie!!
Saw the pic on the fb page and she's so gorgeous!! Loving the name as well Smile

littleray i feel your frustrations
!I'm now 41 weeks..... And getting impatient! I really really would prefer not to be induced but i've only got until friday now before they'll want to have me in.
Keep thinking that today might be the day and then it wears on and nothing happens.
The mw was really positive after the sweep last week - said I was 2 cm dilated and cervix had thinned to 1cm (which I think is 75%) but that was on Thursday and still nothing!
Had a real burst of energy yesterday and after practically sprinting round the block (with a very confused dh in tow) came home and tidied the whole house and garden, and nothing. Not a sausage.
Got quite upset about it this morning as I just want to meet the baby!
Also have this feeling that if I can just get it out where I can see it then I'll not be worrying about it all of the time.
As it goes I'm worrying if it doesn't move enough/moves too much/if I have a crampy feeling too high/too low... Basically all of the time!

Anyway, as people keep telling me... It'll happen when it happens.... Just feel at the moment like I'm actually going to be pregnant for ever!!

Xxxx

Littlerayofsunshine · 28/05/2012 08:44

Congratulations Hippie, wishing you a speedy recovery. :)

I can't even bring myself to post much, floods of tears once
Again, 41weeks today, and just really depressed. This past year
Has been another shit one. Anymore bad luck to be had I wonder...
Probably have a horrendous labour to top it off now followed by PND
Where I've felt so low with all of this situation

Any longer and this baby isn't going to fit out. I am well
And truly stretched. Disgusting tummy now, don't think my stress
Levels are helping either.

To sum up - I'm a depressed mess

Hope you're all doing well, :)x

Cewafwb · 28/05/2012 18:17

littleray - a little worried! Can u tell your midwife how u feel so someone can look after you??? Not happy with you feeling like this before you even go into labour let alone start looking after two babies on your own!

This is the lowest we have seen you throughout this process.

Anyone know how we can help???

Cewafwb · 28/05/2012 18:18

Where are you in the UK?
