alwaysanauntie - yes I know! 4 hrs surely a record! It was absolute carnage at the clinic. Agreed with lady I met there that we could have run things far more efficiently ourselves Wink! No, unfortunately it seems now I've been diagnosed with GD I'll remain high risk and have to be monitored BUT good thing was all my readings were within normal range and if can manage it well until next time, I'll be able to ease off on the testing too so am pleased. A bonus is that I get a couple of extra scans, which I'm actually quite pleased about. The downside: no pancakes w lemon & sugar for me til next year Sad...

ShipShapeBristolFashion · 21/02/2012 20:39

Loaded up my iPod this evening with my hynobirthing tracks! I should have a good 12 weeks or more to get in the 'zone'. Is anyone else doing hypnobirthing?

Not sure whether to do a birthplan this time or not. My last baby arrived too quickly to even get to hospital, let alone implement my plan! Planning for a homebirth this time, though my midwife tells me that third babies tend to be very stop-start so it's unlikely to be so quick. Has anyone else heard that? Or is it just an old wives' tale?

Really enjoying reading your posts.

Time for a cheeky pancake, methinks.

Dozeyland · 21/02/2012 21:22

Emotional wreck this evening, surprised my tears ducts haven't dried up the past few months.

Also: pathetic reasons why i was so worked up, is that I couldnt get the pancakes to go right, my back has been aching today too.

And I love our house, but the neighbours ae a nightmare - not handling their dogs correctly. letting them bark every single night. and i'm fed up of it. I want a house in the countryside - in the peace & quiet.

Missing DP so much my heart really does ache. Wont know about the tag date (day before EDD) until a few weeks, could take up to ten weeks. Just even more of a kick in the stomach knowing he might not be coming home until October.

I'll stop moaning now, dont want to dampen your evenings.

Baby bump is giving me lots of braxton hicks every day, especially at night. no bother though. my back has been sore today but probably due to lots of lifting. My diet is still crap though, and have constipation still. :(

27+1

OP posts:
Angelyaz · 22/02/2012 01:18

Hey all,

Finally I am back, now 26+3, and the last day or so have been SO achey that I have felt nauseous and tearful. Paracetamol has had no effect, it feels like the muscles in my tum are being ripped apart (which, if I were a fit thing may be possible, but as I started out fat and flabby, I'm sure it's just 'growing pains').

Glad we're all doing well and welcome to our newbies. I'm looking forward to this trimester being full of hope and happiness, unlike the last one for me, and a couple of others of us. I am back on nightshifts, got 4 weeks of the blighters, but it gives me lots of time to draw up lists and write birth plans. I am hoping for a water birth, as natural as possible, no forceps or ventouse if avoidable but open to epidural and cs if needed. Skin to skin straight after, plus delay of clamping cord (so all the cord blood travels to baby, for whoever wondered a few posts up...) and immediate breastfeeding. That's the off the top of my head stuff, I'm sure I'll come up with more, although I want to make it as simple as poss. My antenatal classes start the first Sat in March - so excited!

Anyway, enough me me me, hope you are all doing well, and are actually asleep and dreaming of your little bundles rather than up and working at this ridiculous hour! Hugs Dozey, tearful days suck, you are a wonderful strong woman to cope with things as well as you are, so have a good cry if it helps.

xxx

SirCharles · 22/02/2012 09:59

Morning shipshape! We are planning to do a hypnobirthing course at 33 & 34 weeks -a little later than I would like but we are not back in the UK until then so stuck with it. I see there are some hypnobirthing tracks on itunes though so i might download those to help me "get into the zone". I am not against the use of drugs if the occasion calls for it but thought the hypnobirthing training might help me relax..... I can be a little uptight especially under stress or in unknown territory which I suspect is exactly how birthing could be perceived!!

I know how you feel Dozey re the tearfulness and sore back. Constipation has resolved but the horrible piles refuse to go away - making me extra emotionally sensitive for some reason (lack of control over my own body maybe?!). Have you tried a couple of bowls of bran flakes every day? & a daily dose of linseeds (with your cereal or yoghurt)? Oh & PLENTY of water... seemed to help me and bran flakes, linseeds and water are a little easier to administer than extra portions of fresh/frozen fruit & veg, well at least in my lifestyle! BTW my mum swears by those little yakult things - they go straight through some people... worth a go!! My mate swore Lactulose was her best friend in the week after she gave birth too - perhaps worth asking your pharmacist if it is safe in pregnancy?
Hope you can rest a bit and relax. I completely dissolved on Valentines Day for some perceived slight or other!! Poor DH - he had no clue what he had done but i luckily decided not to list the huge list of wrongs drifting through my head.

Welcome back Angel. I hope you are doing ok. My back and stomach have started aching in the last few days too. I just cannot get comfortable. Well, at least we are in count down now - 12 weeks to go for me. Eek.

Wommer · 22/02/2012 14:45

Hi all,
Shiny new thread looks lovely and welcome to all the newcomers Smile

Sooooo Saturday evening had really bad nausea for a couple of hours and then THE WORST pain in the top area of my bump, much worse and totally different to any round ligament aches and pains that I've had.

Was upstairs making the bed and tried to call down to DH (but couldn't be heard over the very loud episode of CSI) and thumping on the floor didn't help either Sad

Made in downstairs with the pain coming and going (in tears by this time as a hitherto unknown coming and going pain when you're 6 months pregnant with 1st baby is a little unsettling).
Shocked DH bundled me into car and set a record time for the drive to A and E.
Have to admit to being totally underwhelmed by the response at a and e (next time have been told by new mother paramedic friend to go straight to maternity). After a chat with a nurse who couldn't have been less bothered and peeing in a cup (as in an actual cup from the water machine(!!) was told to wait for a doctor.
Anyway after a 3 hour wait, the pain had more or less gone and I was told it was most likely wind and to eat less beans.....Blush

At this point it was half 1 on Sunday morning and I was totally knackered.

Can't quite work out if I'm more embarrassed to go to hospital basically because i needed to do a fart Blush or more grumpy at the fact I wasn't seen a bit more quickly by a doctor!
Hmmmmm xxx

oltob · 22/02/2012 15:08

wommer forgive my lurking but sickness and pain at the top of the bump can be symptons of PE. Did they check your urine (hopefully - not just making you pee in a cup for the fun of it) & BP. Definitely from now on you should go straight to maternity (and there should be a 24hr number at the front of your notes to call first for advice) rather than a&e. It may also be worth a call to your MW to give her an update and see about getting a fuller check (if they didn't in a&e). You should never be worried or embarrassed about getting you & baby checked - tis definitely the best thing to do.
Right nosiness done I'll slope off back to the May thread, good luck ladies.

alwaysanauntie · 23/02/2012 09:06

Wommer poor you, sounds like a really scary experience, but glad you & baby are ok. Definitely go to maternity ward next time, I was given a triage number to call with any bump related worries & emergencies from 12 weeks on at my booking in appointment (but may be different in your area). Sadly not surprised about a&e wait, particularly on a Saturday night, worst possible time to go there (sorry, not much consolation after the event :) )

All went well at my mw appointment yesterday, usual wee, BP and measurement (she thinks I'm a week ahead of edd, but measured from different point to GP, so who knows!) Also listened to heart & I had to do deep breaths while she felt the bump (squeezing quite hard!) but could tell me where the limbs, head & bottom were, so quite interesting.

Welcome back angelyaz, nearly the weekend everyone! :o

AlexTasha · 23/02/2012 15:59

Hi all,

wommer I had something very similar the other week, massive pains in top right of bump, called the maternity ward and they said to come straight to triage, was seen straight away (sorry!!!) but they told me it was probably indigestion mixed with muscle pain. I had just eaten Nandos hot chicken... Blush.

Also went to a different hospital, that isnt in my catchment area, as my local is rubbish. Found out it is one of the most unhygenic hospitals in London vomit. But anyway, referred myself to a shiny new hospital that is only 25 mins drive away and am so happy I did! Went there on Monday and even the staff are head and shoulders better than the other grumpy and overworked ones at my old hospital. Feeling really happy about the fact they have a midwife led centre too and encourage medication free water births etc :)

Welcome to the newbies!

I officially start maternity leave in 5 weeks, 1 day, 2 hours and 1 minute..... Wooooo

26 + 4

hippieshake · 23/02/2012 16:08

Can anyone else see their baby moving under their skin yet? It looks so odd! x

PreciousPuddleduck · 23/02/2012 17:36

Can you add me?? first baby due 15/5

Rugbylovingmum · 23/02/2012 17:41

Hi all,

I've been lurking but haven't managed to post in ages Blush, every time I start typing DD climbs up to 'help' and I give up. DP has taken her to visit his parents for a couple of days so I have some free time for a hair cut, shopping for some new maternity tops and essential mnetting Grin. It's lovely to have a bit of me time but I'm missing them already.

I'm 27 weeks now so only 11 weeks and 5 days until my c-section - eek Shock. DP is picking up all our baby bits and pieces from my brothers place this weekend (they had a baby girl last year so we've just been passing things back and forward between us). He's picking up the moses basket, bouncy chair, play mat, mobile, play ring plus sleeping bags, swaddles and some clothes. We'll be pretty much organised after that, just need to buy a few babygro's and vests.

Hippieshake - I remember with DD my bump went really weird shapes as she stretched or turned over. I haven't seen that this time yet but my tummy jumps when she kicks Grin.

Wommer - that must have been really scary and the doctors really should have taken you more seriously Angry. They must know how worrying these things are!

Alextasha - glad you have found a hospital that suits you. My friend used our midwife centre for both of hers and said it was wonderful.

dozey - hope you are feeling less tearful today but you have every right to indulge in a good cry now and then. I really really hope you get good news through about your DH's tag/release date soon.

Wommer · 24/02/2012 14:45

Hi all,
Thanks for the reassurance that I wasn't overreacting! Next time will certainly go straight to maternity.....
altob they checked blood pressure and urine so don't think there's any chance of PE - didn't know that was classic sign tho, so thanks Smile

Haven't really thought about hospital bag as yet (am 27+5 today). Will start to make lists now and then actually start packing when I get to 30w I think.
Just as an aside though, with the lists that I've seen online and that other people have told me, it seems to be more of a hospital trunk/suitcase than a bag... can't quite picture turning up with loads of luggage! Grin

Am lucky though as the hospital is only about a 2 minute drive from a big tescos and an asda, so anything forgotten will be easily picked up!

Happy Friday everyone!
Xxx

Just got back from my 4D scan. Baba wasn't co-operating and was fast asleep, but she is definately a little girl! She also seems to look more like me than DH. We're going back for a rescan in two weeks. I am measuring 9 days ahead of my dates though, not sure if that's a good or bad thing?

How's everyone this evening? x

heartmoonshadow · 24/02/2012 20:35

Hi,

Just to say thanks for adding me to list I am on DC2 which is going to be a DD 1st child is a DS.

Also I see Winnie3 said she was taking two bags - just a quick message to say I did this for DS and to be honest it was a pain in the neck as DH had to go from the ward to the car in a few trips, to fetch seat etc when all I wanted to do was get out of the hospital quickly - I had been there three weeks! Better to have everything stuffed in one that you can carry easily and dont take too much you are only there for a while (hopefully) and not moving in. Wish I had listened last time.

CrackersandCheese · 26/02/2012 21:03

Hi all

Did you have a nice weekend?

Not much to update except I ordered a few different cloth nappies this morning. I'm going to try Bumgenius in the day and Bamboozle stretch at night. This is what the Nappy Lady recommended. Plus I've ordered a few gnappies and I'm going to try these out as well. The total at the checkout was over £100 which made me wince, but then I had to remind myself that in the end it will be cheaper than disposables.

I did antenatal yoga on Thursday morning and ever since I've been having hip and lower back pain on and off. Which is obviously not good. I'll have to let the lady know when I go to class this week. In the meantime I have bought a yoga DVD which I thought I might try if I feel a little better. It was probably a shock to my system last week. It's also probably time to start taking it a little easier. I've been lugging furniture around today, re-arranging the living room!

x

taybay · 26/02/2012 23:02

hi i'm 26weeks due on 30th may with first baby they think its a girl. wanted to sort bag out and DH said it was too early as its 3 months to go :( and birth plan have a waterbirth,

absam32 · 26/02/2012 23:08

Hi everyone...crackersandcheese, did you actually order your nappies direct from the nappy lady in the end? I've been weighing it up and still undecided. Our local council offer a trial kit with a few different brands in it once baby arrives so am in two minds whether to stock up now or hang on for that and see which suit best...

hippieshake · 27/02/2012 10:09

Hello taybay welcome to our thread :)

I haven't sorted my bag out yet either. I think I'll do it around 30 weeks. I'm 26 weeks too, due 1st June (although the scan I had last week showed a due date of 21st May) also having a girl.

How is everyone this week?

AlexTasha · 27/02/2012 13:15

hippie I have a 4D scan on the 14th of march, I'm so excited, can they really see loads of detail?

I started on the nursery this weekend, we painted it blue and put the cutest little star lampshade up, now we have to paint the ceiling and skirtings and bookcase....but I feel like we have started at least. We also went and picked up our new car. I love it, my DP calls it the mummobile. It is an Astra Design. I can't wait to get the carseat fitted!

I am going to start getting stuff for my hospital bag next week and probably have it done by the time I am 29 weeks...

I am getting married this Saturday! Yippeeeeee! SO EXCITED!! Then off to Paris for the weekend. Also, have my first antenatal class on Friday evening.

So much exciting stuff happening at the moment, feeling really happy :)

Hope everyone else is doing well.

hippieshake · 27/02/2012 19:31

Alex firstly... how exciting for your wedding!!! I'm sure you'll have a beautiful day and a fantastic time in Paris :)

The detail is amazing yes, Baba was being uncooperative though and slept through it all. She's a little monkey! We're going back to have a free re-scan on the 8th March.

I can't wait to hear all abotu your wedding :)

AlexTasha · 28/02/2012 17:21

hippie Thanks so much, I am so excited. We are literally just having the 2 of us and 2 witnesses and then going to have a big party when we go back to Australia (currently live in London).

Oooo I'm so excited for our 4D scan! I think we have to pay for any re-scans so I hope he is being cooperative! :)

VeronicaSpeedwell · 28/02/2012 18:48

Aww that sounds lovely Alex, have a wonderful day and escape to Paris Smile.

imissbrie · 28/02/2012 18:58

Hi, I'm have my 30 week appointment tomorrow, bright and early at 9am. I was wondering can anyone tell me if I get an ultra sound at this appointment? I have a feeling the NHS doesn't give you another til 34 weeks. But if it is more than just a midwife appointment I'd like my partner to come along. Also any infor on this appointment would be handy. I think the baby gets measured and we listen to hert beat but not sure.
