Just checking in, all good here, Cora sleeping 5 or 6 hours a night which is brilliant, hopefully she's waking up now for last feed of the night. Had family round today to meet her (dm, dsis & her 2 dcs, dbro & his 2) she slept the whole 5 hours they were round so not very entertaining (did mean I didn't have to disappear to feed though).

DH is going back to work on Monday & spent all week doing house improvements which is nice as the place is nearly sorted, but I'm a bit sad we haven't really had any time chilling out as a family. Still, may mean I get to pop on here and write birth story etc, will just have to figure out how to keep an eye on baby while I'm in the shower/loo etc!

rugby congrats & hope u have a speedy recovery. I can't remember who else was having an elcs but I think there must be another baby out there somewhere!

littleray lovely to hear about your dd saying baba, I guess even little ones take in more than we think sometimes :o

Wishing everyone still waiting a relaxed & uneventful birth!

Enfyshedd · 20/05/2012 13:31

Hello everyone. 39 weeks today! Not too bad here although on Wednesday I started having cabin fever - this is the first time in over 10 years I've had more than 10 days off work in a row and I'm going nuts!!! (Plus the one time I had 10 days off - Easter week - I knackered my back on the first day and proceeded to pull it twice more in the following week so I ended up on major painkillers so didn't really care that I couldn't get out that much). Oh, and the TV blew up on Friday afternoon so only have what's available on 'tinterweb so keep me amused. On the plus side, the tiny portable with a DVD player has been put in DSS2's bedroom so he can watch his DVDs in his room without being annoying and demanding that they're put on the big TV in the living room. I'm not the biggest fan of a TV in a 6 y/o's room, but the peace & quiet can't be denied...

B/Hs seem to be picking up (not painful, just feels like I'm being winded from time to time), so I think that should be a good sign. Still measuring a couple of weeks behind according to MW on Friday, but no worries apart from a little increase in my blood pressure (was really warm in the waiting room and both DSS's had been poorly the night before, so might have been down to that) and Wriggles' head has finally engaged (at last!). Due to paranoia, have asked my DM to bring over her BP cuff for me to check my levels for a couple of days to check that Friday morning was a blip, but everything else is checking out fine.

LittleRay - that was sweet of your DD. So sorry that the release date for you DP didn't materialise, but he'll be home with you, DD & baby before you know it. Thanks

Always - check you out with the well behaved newborn. Don't get too smug yet though - my DM said I was the perfect newborn when I got home sleeping through the first 5 nights. THEN I would wake up every few hours for feeding, changing, etc! Wink

hippieshake · 20/05/2012 14:47

Hello everyone :)

Enfyshedd hopefully things will happen soon if you're engaged and having BH's!! I'm 38+2 now, don't have a clue if Baba's head is engaged because the midwife was so concerned about the Baba's growth in my last appointment that she didn't mention it. I'm really hoping she comes soon though. I've been walking a lot and trying the sex thing.... nada on the labour front!

How's everyone doing? x

Cewafwb · 20/05/2012 15:56

Savannah arrived by c section on 17th. A little (for me) 6lbs 13oz and a girl!!!! Poor thing won't know what hit her when she realises she has three brothers! Very painful and am just on way home now. Speak soon and congrats to all the other new mums. X

iowmum88 · 20/05/2012 16:38

cewafwb congratulations!!
We're all slowly getting there now. LO has been engaged since 34 weeks now 38+5 seem to be getting the odd period type pain every now and again but that is pretty much it! Getting a little impatient, I think deep down I never thought I would reach this far after having DS at 34 weeks!! Oh well hopefully not long now!

Littlerayofsunshine · 20/05/2012 19:54

Congratulations Cera :) That name was on our short-list too :) beautiful

40 weeks tomorrow - Fed up, aching, BH's on & off, shooting pains especially when baby moves then sets off into BH. Very emotional. was 1cm on weds, no idea what i am now. all i know is my mind feels on overdrive :(

Littlerayofsunshine · 20/05/2012 19:54

cewa, i always write cera lol

Enfyshedd · 21/05/2012 06:08

Ow...

Been up all night (since 1am) - can't settle to sleep & this isn't just winding me now. Waiting for DSSs to go to school then will call MW for an opinion & hopefully a visit.

hippieshake · 21/05/2012 08:44

TMI ALERT!! DH and I are on project 'get baby out' and had sex yesterday. Afterwards I had pinky watery stuff coming out all evening, but only in a little bit. I went to bed and it seemed to stop... woke up this morning and more has come out. Is this just some after thing of sex with me being so pregnant? Or could it be my waters slowly trickling out? I'm not having any contractions or anything Hmm xx

alwaysanauntie · 21/05/2012 08:47

cewafwb congrats! I love the name too, hope your recovery improves now you're at home xx

littleray & iowmum88 surely can't be long now, keep your chins up girlies, you get to have lovely snuggles with a newborn soon :o

hippieshake my lo didn't engage until a couple of days before, it was my mum that looked at me & said "something's slipped!" Bump had suddenly changed shape & then it all kicked off, my advice is to just keep mobile/active (don't over do it though!) :)

enfyshedd sounds like you next then?! Hope everything goes smoothly (ps u jinxed my baby! She woke up every 3 hours last night :o still, was nice while it lasted!) Good luck

alwaysanauntie · 21/05/2012 08:51

hippieshakecould be a bit of a show, if it's very watery & keeps flowing sounds more like waters (mine were quite pinky-brown) keep a maternity pad on & check regularly, u need to let hospital know quite soon after waters goes as they want u to deliver in 72 hrs to avoid infection, also my contractions canes every 2 mins after my waters went, try to monitor if you feel any different. Good luck!

hippieshake · 21/05/2012 08:59

Thanks always

I was going to phone the MW just to check, but I feel a bit stupid in case it's nothing.

I'll keep an eye on it x

Littlerayofsunshine · 21/05/2012 14:57

Hippieshake have you been checked over?

EDD today - no baby so far :(

Also the last day of "taurus" babys, tomorrow they're gemini!

VeronicaSpeedwell · 21/05/2012 16:25

Congratulations Cewa! Hope you and your boys are all enjoying your little girl Smile.

Sending good labour vibes to Enfyshedd, though Envy at you starting off now with an EDD the day after me!

Littleray, sorry you're going through this without your DP. It sounds like your DD is going to be a lovely sister though Smile.
Good luck saltytomato, and to everyone else still waiting. iow, I love the idea of your DS and your 18 year old brother hanging out. I bet they'll have a ball! Hippie, I hope you've been checked out and that all is well one way or another. auntie, hope you and Cora are enjoying getting to know each other!

No sign of labour here, though lots of very hard BHs and some of them feel like they are pressing the baby down rather than just tightening things up, if you see what I mean, so I feel like my body is starting to get the idea. I seem to have zero nesting instinct -- there are all these things I'd like to sort out, but I'm so sleepy and my SPD is still a pain, so instead I am sitting in bed Blush. I had some days where I felt very weepy and down, but seem to be a bit more cheerful now.

hippieshake · 21/05/2012 17:14

Hi everyone!

I went to the ANDU today and had an internal exam. Not dilated at all, and the baby's head is only 1/5 engaged so still got 4/5ths to go. They couldn't figure out what the pinky water was, but it wasn't my waters. Had to wait around and have an Anti-D injection just incase I'd bled from somewhere, and that's it really. Still no sign of the Baba.

Littleray I'm sure your little one will make an appearance any day now. Your DD sounds adorable!

Sending out good luck vibes to everyone!! x

Saltytomato · 21/05/2012 20:28

hippie 1/5 engaged means the baby's head is almost fully engaged, 5/5ths means barely engaged so your baby is actually pretty much ready to come out!

I have been 3/5ths for the past few weeks so I can't wait til mine is 1/5 engaged!

hippieshake · 21/05/2012 20:44

The MW said I'm 4/5ths palpable and 1/5th engaged. When I asked if that was much she said 'no, not really.' Maybe I've gotten it wrong then Hmm

Littlerayofsunshine · 21/05/2012 21:00

"palpable" means how much of baby they can still feel. "engaged" is the amount of head that is in the pelvis.

So Hippie you being 1/5th engaged means you stil have 5/5ths to go :)

Well this is how my MW's have explained it.

Littlerayofsunshine · 21/05/2012 21:01

4/5th's **

Saltytomato · 21/05/2012 21:02

Huh, my midwife said that the less amount if head they could feel /move the more engaged you were, in my notes I have gone from 4/5 to 3/5 to 2/5 and she I'd he is getting more engaged so that's really strange...

Littlerayofsunshine · 21/05/2012 21:12

Yeah palpate means what can be felt outside the pelvis still. so I have 2/5th's palpable left to come down. and babys head is 3/5ths engaged into pelvis. :)

iowmum88 · 21/05/2012 21:27

Yeah I'm 4/5ths palpable so still got a way 2 go not fully engaged been like that since 34 weeks.
Palpable does mean how much of the head they can still feel outside the pelvis. Heard that from a few midwives.

Hope all doing well!!!

SirCharles · 21/05/2012 21:58

Evening! Disastrous trip to the ANC at the hospital today - urine came up as +++ for protein :( combined with BP of 130/90 & being 40+2 means they have diagnosed Pre Eclampsia. Grrrrr. So, I have to be induced tomorrow Angry & I am no longer considered low risk so cannot be on the MLU (ie no water birth allowed). Managed to convince them to let me home tonight but no avoiding tomorrow...

Trying to get my head around it & desperately hoping the sweep she did helps me go into labour spontaneously over night. So glass of vino tonight, funny film & a curry....
Wish me luck!!

SirCharles · 21/05/2012 21:59

Oh but I am 2/5 palpable & 1cm dilated & no plug so that sounds good!

cupcakefairy · 21/05/2012 22:36

Just lurking from the other may thread where we had the same discussion about engaged vs palpaple.. turns out different midwives record it differently so some will mean x/5 engaged and some will mean x/5 palpaple.. just ask which it is. I was all excited at 34 weeks to be 4/5 engaged but turned out to mean only 1/5 of head in pelvis.. (now at 41 weeks I'm 1/5 engaged) hope that helps :)
