Just had a BFP and wondered if anyone wanted to join me in the rollercoaster ride over the next few months

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bear1984 · 16/02/2012 10:55

Dame I have read paracetamol is okay, but aspirin and ibuprofen are no-nos.

Sassee fingers crossed for you.

I have been suffering badly, but ginger nut biscuits and mints are helping. DP told his family and best friends yesterday, so he's feeling a lot better for it. I've started a blog today to keep track on what happens. I'm 5+3 at the moment.

DameFlatYouLent · 16/02/2012 11:17

bear that's what I thought, just had sudden paranoia about slightly different rules in 1st trimester due to all the major stuff going on.

Sassee · 16/02/2012 11:45

There was no heartbeat so I have to go back on 28th for another scan. I think in my heart I know the outcome here. Bizarrely they gave me a picture of the scan!

Good luck everyone xx

Bear1984 · 16/02/2012 11:47

Dame it is hard to know. I have a sore throat and cold at the moment and was hoping I could take lozenges but don't think I can even have those!

Sassee I'm so sorry to hear that. I still have my fingers crossed for you though. Hugs.

RichardAndJudysButtPlug · 16/02/2012 11:52

Sassee So sorry :( I really hope you get better news on the 28th. Look after yourself in the meantime. Hope you have lots of support xx

RichardAndJudysButtPlug · 16/02/2012 11:55

glad you plucked up the courage to come over here. :)

JumpingFrog · 16/02/2012 12:07

I'm just going to hover in the background a bit for now...! I'm 5+3, not got a lot of symptoms, but feel different to 1st pregnancy.. Am trying not to worry about having few symptoms, each pregnancy can be very different, right?

nenehooo · 16/02/2012 12:08

Hugs sassee xxx

DameFlatYouLent · 16/02/2012 12:10

sorry it wasn't positive sassee, thinking of you and fingers crossed for the next one.

YompingJo · 16/02/2012 12:12

sassee, sorry it wasn't positive news, it's hard to have to wait another 10 days. I have read that the heartbeat can't always be detected before 8-9 weeks so it may still be OK.

I think scrapping the list for now and restarting in April is a good idea. And if it turns out that this time it wasn't to be for me and DH, I'd want my name removed (not that I have added myself yet).

Am starting to feel a little nauseous every now and again. Exercise and car journeys seem to be the triggers. Yuk.

missbone · 16/02/2012 12:37

Sassee I'm sorry they couldn't reassure you today. Have you tried doing another pregnancy test? x

missbone · 16/02/2012 12:48

Ladies, please can i ask a question without being shouted at for being neurotic? Hmm If i do pregnancy tests regularly throughout this first trimester, and they are positive, does that guarantee no nasty surprises at the 12 week scan - eg. MMC?

YompingJo · 16/02/2012 13:06

missbone, that's a really good question. I can't claim to know the answer, but my gut feeling is no, it is not a guarantee - pregnancy tests detect HCG hormone, so even if your body stops producing this if you suffer a MMC, there is still the chance that you would still have high levels that have already been produced. I'm going to do some googling and come back to you - much more interesting than maths planning for next week - Hmm - although scary as well.

YompingJo · 16/02/2012 13:14

Right, have googled. This is a complicated one, it seems that if you MC, your HCG levels should fall quite rapidly - for most people, a negative result would show up after a couple of weeks. But it can take more than 6 weeks for HCG levels to drop enough to give a negative result as it is the placenta that produces HCG and there can be placental tissue still leftover that can take a while to be broken down.

Sorry, I know this is a very sensitive subject but I was interested in finding out the answer too. Hope this doesn't offend anyone.

Angelico · 16/02/2012 13:38

Sassee I hope you get better news at next scan. Sending you a hug x

mirikat · 16/02/2012 13:49

TFI Thursday - in UAE Fri and Sat are the weekend, so having just got in from work, I can now sit around in PJ's for 48 hours massaging my bloated gut in peace!

mirikat · 16/02/2012 13:52

ooh and btw missbone I am not sure about the accuracy of the constant pregnancy testing but I confess when I was waiting for my scan and I couldn't stand the suspense, I actually paid a little man in a laboratory to do a blood test just to check if my hcg levels had risen...guess that makes me neurotic too!!

Beeblebear · 16/02/2012 13:55

Sassee. Yes better lick at your next scan.

On a tmi note-

All my resources say pregnancy = constipation
But I seem to be having quite the opposite issue and plenty of gas (and rank!)

Anyone else like this?

Ps. How about if we just put our stats at the bottom of our posts rather than making a list?

29 yrs, 4+6, dc#1

Angelico · 16/02/2012 13:58

lol mirikat I feel your pain :o

beeblebear I think that can be quite common having the runs - from what I remember it says that in the What to expect book.

missbone · 16/02/2012 14:16

Thanks, YompingJo, for your information. I guess we have no way of reassuring ourselves before that 12 week scan Sad

Welcome, GizzyBoo, and congratulations! Thanks

BabyDustPlease · 16/02/2012 14:53

Beeblebear I have been thinking the same, I have no problem at all with constipation but i'm very gassy and the the other too!! (sorry if tmi!)

Hugs Sassee.

Hope everyone else is doing okay. I had a major burst of energy at about 11am today and have now crashed and am so tired!!! Waiting for DH to come home (he works away in the week) so he can run around after me for a while!! I also agree with the taking the list down for now but like the idea of putting our 'stats at the bottom of our posts so we can keep up.

Nearly at the end of the week!!! Got my booking in appointment tomorrow and then off to try on bridesmaid dresses for my best mates wedding next year....I feel so bloated though!

26 yrs, 6+5, dc#1

marvellousmarie · 16/02/2012 15:46

I so tired! I would so love to sit in a jacuzzi right now with a massive bowl of minstrels next to me!!! Instead my Dd is watching peppa pig jumping on me occasionally! (not helping my nausea!)

I did just go out to sainsburys and next, next maternity was shite! I walked around in a daze round sainsburys putting a collection of food in my basket that don't go together BlushHmm it seems I have flown to another planet today!

30yrs 6+4 baby %232

marvellousmarie · 16/02/2012 15:48

I'm not sure what I added at the end but it was meant to be -
