Great news tash

theressomething I know it's hard but try not to worry. The proxies will be q long as there are set timeframes for consultation periods etc and just b/c you are in the pool atvrisk doesn't mean you'll necessarily go. Also check with your solicitor if you should mention the pg sooner rather than later, I don't do much employment law but I do know it's pretty hard to make a pg lady redundant, for fear of discrimination reprisals. Good luck!

Lovemarmite · 18/01/2012 10:32

theressomethingaboutmarie sounds as though you're on the right track by talking to your solicitor and if you get SMP - cool! but what timing... really sympathesise with you, hope it doesn't get too stressful. If you do tell them soon, maybe they have to keep you on as it sounds as though they 'might' rather than 'have to'?

Thanks NeedlesCuties for the updated list -looks like we're spread wide across this land!

Lovemarmite · 18/01/2012 10:33

Ohhh yes - great news tash - wow!

Loupee · 18/01/2012 11:34

hamncheese aye Edinburgh is alright, we're actually out in Midlothian, moved for DH's job, so didn't really get much choice in the matter! Can't get used to shopping in Edinburgh, everything is so spread out and busy all the time, I either drive to Livingston or even back to Glasgow to drag one of my sisters with me to go shopping ;) Also still struggling to meet people here, feel a bit isolated, but hopefully that'll change in time.
tash thats great news about the scan, can't wait to get mine.
theressomethingaboutmarie a similar thing happened to my SIL when she was pregnant due to her company relocating. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise for her.

rslnd · 18/01/2012 11:38

Congrats to all of you with your successful scans and to Welshlady on your engagement. Nice to hear such lovely news. Got my scan tomorrow- super scared. EEK.
Day off today which is bliss. Off to make my marmite and toast breakkie now. I wonder if we are all going to have little marmite lovers!
PS- stats wise- DC1 and live in London and hospital Whittington

MrsMigginslovespies · 18/01/2012 12:04

Morning,

All the marmite chat makes me giggle. Feel a bit sick again today. Bleuch. Had some hot cross bun toast which has helped a bit but bored of it now! No energy at all and slept in till 9.30 (boss is in LA, plus work from home, hurrah). Really trying to get all my 5 a day in, but it is a struggle. Could quite easily just live off Innocent's new tropical fruit juice though. V yummy.

Theressomething good luck with it all. I took voluntary redundancy last year from the civil service, and although not quite the same situation, all requires a lot of thought and consideration. Good to have talked to a lawyer.

Cheerybye for now. x

theressomethingaboutmarie · 18/01/2012 12:29

Thanks for the support. It's a worrying time as I feel in statis - knowing one way or another would be great. As long as they don't let me go prior to me being 20 weeks gone, I will be eligible for the SMP so I need to hold on until then. I'm concerned that if I confirm that I'm pregnant sooner than then, they will 'coincidentally' crack on with the process sooner than anticipated.

I think that I actually do want to be made redundant in light of what I'm entitled too. My solicitor said that the company will be very careful in light of my pregnancy so are unlikely to ask me to work my notice or try to screw me out of it. It will be lovely to spend some quality time with DD1 prior to the birth of DC2.

capecath · 18/01/2012 12:40

PurpleLoopy yep also gone off coffee and like hamncheese seem to have lost sweet tooth, except yoghurt, but particularly rich food - savoury is flavour of the month. Also gone off chicken (unless it is with mayo), favouring tuna and tomatoey mince! And loving salt and vinegar stuff and orange juice.

Loupee yes DS1 was born prematurely at the Royal in Edinburgh and I can only say good things about them! I was in the labour ward with bleeding for 3 days, then DS was in neonatal for 4 weeks, and they were super attentive and really very good. So from my experience, I am very happy to be going back there.

capecath · 18/01/2012 12:44

Loupee just seen your new post. I go to a number of baby/tots groups so can put you in touch if you're keen... I'd recommend shops at Fort Kinnaird or even Ocean Terminal which is usually nice and quiet. Ya Almondvale in Livingston is great! We lived in Bathgate for a while.

voscar · 18/01/2012 13:45

:(

I'm knackered and sick and feeling fat. My clothes don't fit and newer stuff just makes me look fat bit not yet pregnant. I can't say to people I feel like shite cos I'm not past thr magic 12 weeks, and now I've got to traipse around the west end of London speaking to clients for the next 5 hours and I really cannot find the motivation. I've then got the dreaded commute back at 7pm and the car is just making me feel even sicker. Please bring on the wonderful 2nd trimester!!!!

Ugh. Rant over - thank you ladies for providing a forum to do this!

P.s congrts Welshgirl!

The3Bears · 18/01/2012 14:04

Hi just wondering if I can join in, not sure when I am due yet but im sure it's Aug, dc2.
You all seem to be having similar symtoms as me so feel I should join in :)
Desperate for my Midwife appt next week as just want to have my scan booked, everything seems to be taking so much longer than the last time I was pregnant 5 yrs ago! Shock Cant believe how different this pregnacy is aswell, so hello and I look forward to moaning to you all about how terrible im feeling but hopefully that will all pass soon and we can all enjoy the exciting times ahead! :)

blackcatsdancing · 18/01/2012 14:17

welcome The3bears

congrats on your scan mrsmiggins

I take an antenatal vitamin and mineral tablet which has Vitamin D in so not sure i'll need more. I'll see what MW has to say at my booking appointment tomorrow!
Almost bought pregnancy mag yesterday- i swore i wouldnt. I think i was more interested in the fashion section than anything else. Now really want to buy a new dress but realistically should wait until after NT scan. Last time I had maybe 3-4 tunics/dresses that I lived in (plus leggings), didn't get anything else, well new bras obviously! Blimey you couldn't even get black maternity or nursing bras last time around. White or nothing. How grim .

DP is getting so excited, he's installed a pregnancy ticker thing on his computer. Just hoping all continues well.

Lovemarmite · 18/01/2012 14:28

Hi The3bears and welcome to the group and of course, Congratulations!

voscar - it's past 2 now and so only a few more hours to go and then it's past the mid-week point!

To be honest, my clothes are feeling odd, although I've not been sick and I've eaten more than usual, they all feel bigger round the bottom area but too tight round the middle - very odd!
blackcatsdancing I bought a new tunic last week, one which can be worn in pregnancy and not pregnant too - was a nice purchase that made me feel good about this time of pregnancy.

Looked at pregnacare tablets today and will go back and get them next month as I'll try and finish my G&G ones that have all the same ingredients but spread across a million tablets - bleuch!

Just picked up pregnancy folder from the midwives - yet to go through it though. Was told last week that they would only tell me my blood/urine results if there any problems, but I would just love to be told if it's all okay and then feel happy that I've passed a positive thing - hmm perhaps I expect too much?! DH has suggested that we do them privately too and then I can get the results. I think putting my mind at rest in these 12 weeks is worth money as I am a little crazy these days. I woke up at 4am having a panic and after lying there for a while I realised I must be quite anxious and so tried to think of all the positives - and thankfully found some. Crickey this time is hard!

Hope everyone is doing fine today x

Angel786 · 18/01/2012 14:29

Welcome 3bears. If you send your stats needles is kindly keing a running list of us all.

voscar hope u feel better soon! Finger x'd once the sickness subsides you'll feel so much better!

black cats there are do many choices for maternity wear now!

Am currently taking Wednesdays off work and soooo nice to be home, already squeezed in a nap at half eleven when I put dd down for hers.

OP posts:
MrsMigginslovespies · 18/01/2012 14:42

Am also on pregnacare Plus (used the pre conception Pregnacare too) and think they're very good. Also seemed to get a thumbs up from the midwife too.

Dare I ask: is anyone obsessed with had a wee look at prams yet? I've had some advice from sister (hate hers) and best friend (like hers) about them, but don't really know where to start. I KNOW I'm being very premature, but it's kinda fun Smile!

The3Bears · 18/01/2012 14:48

The3Bears (24) DC2 due ??/08/12
Thank You for welcoming me,
I'd say its okay to look at prams now, I dont need to this time as I already have my Bugaboo Cam so just going to get a new colour when we know sex of baby and a good clean up. What prams have you been looking at theres so much choice now? :)

NeedlesCuties · 18/01/2012 14:58

MrsMiggins We've decided to not use a pram with this DC, going to use a sling instead. Had a Silver Cross travel system when DS was a baby and it was a tonne weight for lifting in and out of the car and up the steps of the house. Changed to a lightweight buggy (an O'Baby) when DS was about 8 months old and could sit up alone.

Always said that if I had a DC2 I'd want a sling so I can still run around after DS who will be 2.5 years old in August.

A friend sold me her Kari Me for £15, rather than the £50-odd it goes for new :) Woohoo!

Each to their own, but having a sling goes better with my generally hippyness!

Lovemarmite · 18/01/2012 15:13

I'm with Needles - a sling for as long as I can anyway.
We looked at a pram/buggy and well, it completely freaked DH out and we resorted to looking at cute bunnies instead. Maybe when there's a bump and the scans are done, we might venture out again but I'm interested in hearing what's hot and what's not!
DH is more interested in a car seat as I think we're spending money on that for safety and then make the baby walk as soon as we can't carry it around town! I am thinking that it had better have some good walking legs when it comes out!!!

MrsMigginslovespies · 18/01/2012 15:31

Ah, good. A sling. I'd like one of those too, esp so that DH can carry for a bit sometimes too. I've looked (online) so far at Silver Cross (noted comments about weight but they are nice), BabyStyle various ones, ICandy, and Bugaboo, but don't want to spend that much. Also don't think I want a travel system as want a MaxiCosi car seat on an Isofix base that swivels. My sister has one and it's fab. I dream of having a proper MASSIVE old fashioned Silver Cross in navy and white like I had when I was little (Mum gave it away to the orphans). SO sweet. And a Norland Nanny to push it. Ha! We live in t'country, so needs to have good wheels and lots of shopping storage, plus be wipeable. Sigh, so many things, love it all!

Angel786 · 18/01/2012 15:53

MrsMiggins I was pram OBSESSED last time. went overboard and treated dd to a silver cross sleepover deluxe in sugared almond with the crossover chassis. Although absolutely beautiful I wouldn't recommend it as the wheels don't turn so difficult to steer with one hand if not going straight. On the positives it is huuuge, a 4x4 of prams and v comfy / warm (as dd was born in dec i was v worried about her being snug).

One word of advice (sorry if I'm being annoying with unwanted advice!?) for all expecting dc1 - if you plan on having a dc2 within 2-3 years consider a pram that suits two! I spent a fortune on dd's pram, she'll still need one when the new baby comes but i will have to get a phil & ted's or sth similar. Such a shame.

OP posts:
Loupee · 18/01/2012 16:45

capecath thats good to hear a positive story about the Royal, hoping to use the birthing centre, the photo's online look good.
Would love any recommendations for clubs and that. Are there any pre-natal ones you have done? Thinking about doing pregnancy yoga, but it seems quite expensive without knowing anyone thats done it before to get a recommendation.
voscar I know how you feel, I've been feeling so fat as well, can't do up most of my jeans, so in leggings most of the time, except because of where they sit they are giving me a double belly at the moment. I'm struggling looking at maternity wear because I need long length trousers, and these don't seem to come cheap at all, ho hum.

And yes to looking at prams, have seen so many that I want Blush but as yet haven't figured out what I actually need!

The3Bears · 18/01/2012 17:26

The best thing to do with prams is go to a shop (john lewis is good) and have a really good look and play with them all, compare them online aswell.
I love my bugaboo cam, spent an absolute fortune on it but I used it for 3 years with ds it was great, and it still looks near enough new now cant wait to use it again.

On other subjects is anyone else feeling 10x worse in the evening, ive felt slightly better today and now I feel so tired and sick again just cant wait to get ds to bed and go to sleep myself. :)

MrsMigginslovespies · 18/01/2012 17:51

The3bears definitely feel worse at night too. Like all day, I store up sickness and tireness and it gets to 4pm onwards and I'm a wreck. The only thing to have helped sickness today is crumpets. Meant to have gone to the cineman tonight but don't have the strength. Tedious beyond belief.

I was underwhelmed by all the prams in John lewis in Edinburgh last week. Seemed to have hardly any choice and it was super busy, so we turned tails and left. Will try again. I do like that Silver Cross pram you have Angel but good thoughts about another baby one day...

If I find any cool ones, I might link them in and see what you all think!

woopsidaisy · 18/01/2012 18:00

Hi All! I have been lurking for a few weeks, but had my scan today so as all went well I am ready to join!
I am due 13/08/12 and I already have 2 DCs who are in school. Just can't wait to see this little ones face! Oh, and I am 36.
