Hi fellow Augustians!

I'm expecting first baby on 18th August - thrilled and petrified in equal measures.

Fell pregnant unexpectedly early in a relationship of what quickly turned out to be a very unsuitable man so going it alone with little support from friends & family. I am recovering from M.E/CFS, have a little one bed maisonette and been unable to work for the past 5 years, hence concerns from friends & family. Whilst I understand their concerns the facts are not going to change and I wish they would support rather than get upset & avoid the subject.

I picked up the Mumsnet Pregnancy book in a local book shop and was instantly drawn to the light hearted approach to pregnancy, I found other titles a little airy fairy and given that I've been sick most days wanted something to make me laugh. So that's why I am here as it seemed like a place to find support, friendship and some shared laughs along the way.

I hope to get to know you all in the months to come

Westcountrylovescheese · 19/02/2012 08:54

Hiya and welcome Salt14! Congratulations on your LO!

I'm not sure many people can claim to have that 'perfect' situation that we all dreamed about as 5 year olds. Life isn't like that. Luckily life is more interesting... You sound really happy about your pregnancy, so yeay and sod the rest!

I also have health issues and I know that my friends and family are worried. My mum and brother were so shocked when I told them that they said 'but you can't be', my mum has come around a lot though and is getting excited.

Happy Sunday all! We're off to a family do where we get to tell more people!

MrsLister · 19/02/2012 08:59

Thanks vino and poppy - hoping that the further I progress the less negativity I will encounter. DH said this morning 'it just feels strange getting congratulations before the baby is born'.

I can see his point but what are you going to do?!

Anyway - I am determined to have a serene and happy 6 months and then give birth naturally to a neat little 7lb bundle who sleeps through the night from day 1.

sticks fingers in ears and sings 'I can't hear you, I can't hear you, I can't hear you'

;)

Happy Sunday everybody and welcome Salt :)

PoppyS34 · 19/02/2012 09:37

Hehehe MrsL I like your positivity :)

it's the other way around with us. we've had such an awful 12mths that I've struggled to believe this is real, or that it would all be ok, that I didn't want to tell anyone 'just in case'.

but everyone think I'm being silly :) so we only just started tell people after 14wks.

I'm trying my best now to be positive and get excited, I don't really talk to anyone else about it, so this thread really helps.

Welcome Salt :) & congrats xx

MrsMigginslovespies · 19/02/2012 12:31

Hello Frilly I've messaged you again in the hopes you can find me. Otherwise, how do I find the group?

Sunny sunny here today. Still in nightie, full of cold but watching T4 and pottering.

Welcome Salt and congratulations on your baby. I know what you mean about being thrilled and terrified in equal measures, but it's an exciting journey. I'm still getting my head round the idea that I'll MAKE MILK! Grin

MrsMigginslovespies · 19/02/2012 13:09

Hello, me again!

Was wondering what you think of these girls names (DH and I have been having a chat as we're stuck for girls!):

Charlotte
Phoebe
Summer
Annabel
Ellectra (my Italian granny's name)

x

hamncheese · 19/02/2012 13:24

Long time no see people just caught up and glad to see cheese is still high on the agenda. Currently I'm on an emmental streak... had a nice cheese lunch hehe Grin

Question for you all... anyone else find that, now the MS is eased off mostly (for those lucky enough to be that far through) you find taking vit D tablets to be making you a bit queasy etc. I'm still getting off days and lots of headaches but it seems to conincide with vit D. I tried not taking it for a few days and feel amazing... but don't want to mistake this as a coincidence as really should be taking it. I'm enjoying feeling good too much to want to have it again though!

Miggins Charlotte is our favourite girl name and the only one DH and I have a consensus on really loving! So I vote Charlotte Wink

MrsLister · 19/02/2012 14:14

hamncheese is it maybe one of those 'always take on a full stomach' type things? I have been known to feel queasy if I've taken vit tablets on an empty stomach by mistake.

mrsmiggins I love Summer! Such a happy smiley name. I also like Sunny for a girl for similar reasons.

I'm absolutely convinced I'm having a girl. My friend bought me a hyacinth in a pot as a gift on Friday and said 'it will either be pink, blue or white'. Anyway it's started flowering already...

Sure enough - it's pink! :)

WelshLadyCDF · 19/02/2012 14:53

Hi thatboysmum I'm 15+4 and due on the 8th August, might you be further on than you think?!
I am playing the baby jazz music today as I think it can hear now.
Xx

WelshLadyCDF · 19/02/2012 14:57

miggins they're pretty names, I like Charlotte too. I am thinking of Molly, I really want a girl, (is it ok to say that? Blush).

hamncheese · 19/02/2012 16:17

I've tried in on a full stomach lister but still seemed to make me feel crappy... :(

welsh I think it's ok to prefer getting one or the other, whilst still knowing if you do get the other it'll be great too. I would like a girl first but would not unusually like one of each eventually. Ultimately don't mind but I reckon it's okay to have a slight preference! And Molly is cute... already used it for one of my cats (she's an angel) :)

MrsMigginslovespies · 19/02/2012 16:57

Tha ks all! Molly is my goddaughter's name and it is sweet. She's a very girly girl and it really suits her. Charlotte and Phoebe are top two at the mo with Charlotte at the top. Will see!

Off t'shops now to buy supper things and more cheese. Will stop hogging the thread today!

Angel786 · 19/02/2012 22:29

Mrsmiggins - i love summer, charlotte and annabel

welsh i really wanted a girl first time (and got one) Grin now would like a boy just for variety) but suspect another little girl, as long as he/she's healthy I'll be happy. Love the name Molly.

Think we'll go with Nadine Ava for a girl...

Hope you all have a good week.

Forgot to mention totes waste of time midwife appointment last week - no doppler just urine and blood pressure check. All ok tho which is good.

Oh :(

I just came across a thread my sister created on Chat...poor love. I didn't realise her husband was so awful. I knew he was a bit of a git, but still. She puts up with so much and I am so proud of her!

Sorry, just had to share that snippet!

0FrillyKnickers0 · 19/02/2012 23:22

Let me know if anyone else want to join the FB group!

Sorry I've not been on here much today, been hectic. Went to a Kaiser Chiefs gig tonight. It was marvellous. Ricky Wilson came right up the back (had to go and sit down with my pregnant sister!) stood right near us and smiled at us! I wanted to squeeze him faint!!

0FrillyKnickers0 · 19/02/2012 23:23

Just saw you were talking names...DH likes Oliver for a boy (duh) and Niamh (Neve) or Louisa bit too grown up?? for a girl. I quite like Ada for a girl...kinda Dickensian!

PoppyS34 · 20/02/2012 10:36

I love Kaiser Chiefs :) Hope you had a great time..!

Names are going to be so hard to choose.. Confused Like Molly, and I actually like Ellectra, but that's because it's a bit different.

Did everyone have a good weekend?

Are there any more scans due this week?

I have my 16wk MW appt next week, although I've not heard from the MW since the first one, is that normal?

MrsMigginslovespies · 20/02/2012 10:54

Ava was my sister's top choice for ages and ages! She eventually went with Cara.

Yes thanks Poppy had a ncie weekend but bit blighted by grim cold (which is getting worse) and now rain plus DH back to teach so all on my tod which is dull. Meh.

I haven't heard about my next MW appointment after my 16 week one with consultant but am vaguely under the impression that I need to book it...need to check actually.

Nice that your sister is also pregnant Frilly. Fun to go through together. I was about 4 weeks preggers when my sister gave birth in Dec, so we just co-ordinated together for a tiny bit!

BTW, can I have strepsils now? Are they ok to take?

Angel786 · 20/02/2012 11:20

Hey Frilly thanks for the pm - will take a look when on fb next! Also - sorry your sis is having such a rough time of it. There's nothing stranger than men!

poppy i didn't hear back after the 1st mw appointment but at the follow up last week they confirmed all blood tests and urine from previous check was normal.

mrsmiggins i took strepsils in 1st trimester - pharmacist said it was fine. Hope you feel better soon!

Lovemarmite · 20/02/2012 12:11

Sorry I've been away a bit, can't believe we talk so much - we're almost onto August thread part 3!

Ellectra is a great name!

I have a 20 week scan booked but no 16 week mw appointment, hmm do we get to see them at 16 weeks too? more bloods and urine etc I am guessing? I've not heard from my mw either.

Angel786 · 20/02/2012 12:17

Hi lovemarmite - I know just saw we're 80 posts away!

Think it varies according to your nhs area and if first / second etc but for me no bloods at 16 weeks, no doppler just a urine sample and blood pressure.

Think with dd I had bloods taken every time...

OP posts:
0FrillyKnickers0 · 20/02/2012 13:41

79 posts away!!

My sister is exactly 2 months ahead of me which is fun :) She's the middle one. It's the oldest of us 3 that has the moron for a husband. A moron that showers ONCE A MONTH! I know.

I have my scan this week Poppy! I am 13 weeks tomorrow and the scan is on Thursday. I can hardly wait!

I've been signed off work for 4 weeks and am due to go back next Monday. I am so nervous about it :( I guess it's cause I've been so poorly and although I am better, I still get a bit sick and very tired. Oh gosh I am so anxious. Still, mustn't worry now, i still have a week to get better.

MrsMigginslovespies · 20/02/2012 13:43

We've got to be so careful with Elettra (I spelt it wrong first time as typed in haste!) because my father's stepmother is oddly very VERY sensitive about her husband's first wife (ie my Dad's real Mum who very sadly died when he was 13). I'd love to use it, but it might cause a massive diplomatic incident. We thought a way round might be Ellie for short, but am concious it's becoming very popular. Dunno! Am meant to be doing a massive ring round this afternoon of really can't be bothered. Plus sound like Eartha Kitt.

capecath · 20/02/2012 13:52

Prefer Elettra to Electra somehow, and especially like Ellie! Well if she is your grandmother... but perhaps you could discuss with your father's stepmom before? She may appreciate you considering her feelings. Like Charlotte too.

0FrillyKnickers0 · 20/02/2012 13:58

OOh, that's a different name! I like it! I have always loved the name Eleanor (Ellie for short) and it's my mum's name. My MIL would prob expect her to have her name as a middle name but 'm not so keen on her name!

Blooming families!
