Lovemarmite · 16/02/2012 22:08

I think the NHS are very pro-choice about elective c-section and so he didn't try to talk me out of the procedure, but after hearing that a c-section may give you a keloid (my skin is very prone to them) then I'm not opting for an elective one but will go for a natural birth as far as I can choose at this stage. Not everyone will get a keloid but as I am prone, then well needless to say I would not be wise to choose for one. Good to have the facts as he also said that if you tear or need a cut, the skin area around there is less likely to scar badly as there is a lot of blood there and so it should heal a lot quicker than on the trunk of the body. Sorry if this is TMI!

Weight - hee hee, yeap definitely put some of that on recently as my trousers are a bit tight, not so much in the front but all over! Yikes.

0FrillyKnickers0 · 16/02/2012 22:22

Yay! Good good on the old scan MrsM

Angel786 · 16/02/2012 22:26

Hi all!

Our scan went well today!! Was so amazing to finally see our baby and can believe that it's really there!! Bubs was wriggling around like ma and kicking and waving too! Best day of my life so far!!

Good luck to those who still have their first scans to come!

Oh also my due date changed but only by one day so I'm now due on the 25th but needles no need to change the list for me, one day doesn't make much difference!!

alisonmcg · 16/02/2012 22:41

*wriggling around like mad

Lovemarmite · 17/02/2012 10:10

Great news on the scans! :)

I have a question: I'm 14+6 and am getting what can only be described as sharp twinges in my belly. I've not felt these before and I know it's not gas. I am not too worried as they're just short and sharp but they are happening quite a bit this morning and I've not had them before today. Do you think they could be stretching ligaments? As this is DC1 I can't get too excited that it's kicking yet and so would love to know if anyone else has been experiencing this too please?

Happy Friday :o

PoppyS34 · 17/02/2012 10:15

Thanks thanks for your thoughts everyone.

It's so lovely to read about the scans, such good news. lovemarmite, glad the obstetrician visit went well.

As for weight, I've worked out I've put on 6lbs, which i think is 2.6 kgs(??) since 1st November. I don't know if this is normal or a lot or not enough?

All my clothes still fit apart from around the tummy, which is why those bump bands are so good - such a clever idea. I'm also starting to fill my bras now :) I'm really small chested, but they're starting to get bigger now.

I'm not sure about the milk thing halfdoneharris? I guess everyone is different, but no idea if it's early or not!

Angel, hope your cold is getting better. It's so rubbish having a cold while pg isn't it?

Glitter - very excited for you, hope some of your property luck rubs off on us, we're househunting this weekend. :)

alisonmcg · 17/02/2012 10:20

Lovemarmite I had that a couple of weeks ago, it went on for a couple of hours but all was well and think it was just ligaments stretching so you should be fine! As with everything though if it carries on or gets worse it might be worth talking to your midwife just to help put your mind at rest.

Hope you feel better soon!

PoppyS34 · 17/02/2012 10:29

lovemarmite - my whattoexpect email for week 15 mentions round ligament pain, and I've been getting these a bit over the past two weeks - especially if I get up too quickly... found some links for you - don't know if they sound like the same thing?

Lovemarmite · 17/02/2012 10:43

Thanks Poppy and alison for the info/reassurance.

I like the 'what to expect' website. I've not come across this site before - it's written really sweetly!

JParkson · 17/02/2012 11:34

Hi ladies, sorry I've been a bit quiet - me, kids and holidays don't mix when I'm pg!

Hope everyone's ok,

I'll catch-up and comment when I can but for the meantime, I'm in hibernation!

miaboo · 17/02/2012 11:41

I was 13 weeks on Tuesday and I'm already in maternity clothes with people asking if i'm pregnant!, Cant wear my normal work uniform already and the sciatica (spelling) is well and truely here! whoo hoo :)

Vinolover · 17/02/2012 15:25

Marmite Im 14+6 also and have been getting these sharp twinges. It's usually just on my left side and Im certain it's ligament pain. I used to get the same sort of pain but less severe and lower down pre pregnancy but obviously with everything moving upwards the pain has moved as well.

0FrillyKnickers0 · 17/02/2012 17:46

It's amazing...I think I've turned a corner in my sickness! Don't get too excited, but I've had a lot more energy today and I have felt a lot brighter. Fingers crossed that I'm coming out the other side!!

Now, I have 2 questions:

  1. Before you all went for your 12 week scans, were you nervous in case they wouldn't find anything? I am quite petrified when I allow myself to think about it. Being only 12 weeks I obviously can't feel baby moving yet and when I prod my tummy it just feels a little bit firm, no definite baby bulge. Obviously being 12 weeks I can't expect to feel owt, but I was hoping I'm not the only one who was nervous about that?

  2. I know I'm new back to this group, but would anyone fancy joining a very private so you would have to be invited Facebook page for this thread? I was/am part of one from when I was TTC and it was nice to get to know people a bit better. If the general consensus is yes, say so and I'll set one up :)

NeedlesCuties · 17/02/2012 18:22

Evening all!

That's great Frilly that your sickness is dying down a bit, very happy for you, esp after we've both been moaning on the hyperemesis support thread; is good to hear some good progress.

As for your Q's:

  1. yes I think it's normal to feel like that, I know with DS and this pregnancy I feared that I'd get into the scan room and find out that my brain had dreamt everything up! When is your scan? Once you get it things will feel much more real.
  2. I'm not FB at all, so I'll be giving that group a miss, thanks all the same.
Westcountrylovescheese · 17/02/2012 18:25

Frilly, I was terrified! Exactly as you say, I was convinced that there would be nothing there. I think it's because you don't have any real proof up to that point you have no medical evidence. Just the stick that you peed on!

Not sure on Facebook page, mine is on the highest privacy settings so I can never be found! Would go for it if everyone else was up for it though!

Picked up my next directory order today, they have a sale on that includes maternity clothes. Got 3 pairs of maternity trousers and one jumper for £44. Bargain!

MrsLister · 17/02/2012 18:45

Hello ladies - just wanted to update you on my scan news. It would appear I'm having a very wriggly baby who doesn't like having its picture taken!

Had to go in and out of the scan room 4 times - each involving star jumps and stretching - before we got a decent shot!

But all is well and I'm bang on for my dates (no need to change mine Needles!).

Looks like we're having a bank holiday baby! :-)

0FrillyKnickers0 · 17/02/2012 18:50

Oh how exciting Mrs Lister!!

My scan is on the 23rd Needles :)

Wow, WestCountry...that's a bargain. I might have a look on their website. DH has to order a suit for a wedding (he is groomsman and we have to pay for his suit...and I have to pay half for my maid of honour dress!!! Bloody cheek) so I might have a look and see what Next have in the way of maternity stuff.

PoppyS34 · 17/02/2012 18:54

I was the same at my 12wks scan, I was surprised it was still there (as I'd had a few worries), but very relieved. :)

I'm not really on FB very much, its changes confuse me too much! Blush.

Very pleased to read the scan went ok in the end, I bet the little one wondered what was going on outside, with the star jumps! :o

Lovemarmite · 17/02/2012 19:22

Great to hear your scan went well MrsLister

I must admit at 14+6 I would love another scan to just make sure it's all okay and still there! Apart from the twinges today, my sickness has virtually gone, less tired etc and so it feels less real again. I'm happy that I feel loads better but I'm looking forward to the 20 week scan, but that seems ages away - 5 weeks!

Think I might just go for a decent pair of maternity jeans, a few tunics and a few maternity tops plus hope that my leggings will make it through as they have a long waistband. I think my little bump is puling my trousers forwards and so not as comfortable. Loving my DH's jumpers though!

Happy to meet on FB! But will want to hear from everyone on here!

The3Bears · 17/02/2012 20:20

Hi everyone,

Nice to hear everyones doing well! Grin Been v quiet here as half term so been keeping ds busy, feeling very normal here at 14+6 but defintely have a little bump already but you are supposed to show quicker after 1st so thats my excuse :) 38 days til my next scan! Im not on fb as not to keen, but nice idea for people that are, please stay on here though.
Has anyone started getting things for baby yet? Theres 3 for 2 on baby things at boots so I got a few essentials the other day and saw a gorgeous skip hop changing bag in tk maxx for £12! Shock so keep an eye out there.

Good job Needles!

Is it just me or is anyone else having trouble sleeping? The last 3 or 4 nights I've been awake at 4am, been to the loo and struggled to sleep again! It's doing my head in and it's always 4am :(

MrsMigginslovespies · 18/02/2012 10:32

Morning all,

Had a lovely birthday yesterday and even had half a glass of bubbles, literally my first taste of booze since I started IVF on 21st Oct! Was v nice evening though was exhausted at the end. We told people last night who were all very sweet and pleased and it's so nice to finally get it out in the open.

I'd be up for a FB page but again, only if it was just us and we had a good high privacy control on. I'm very careful about FB. But could be really nice.

Am going to have a look at Next later as I like their jeans normally so be nice to get some money off. I've had a look at a few things but not really bought much yet.

Yes Frilly I also am not sleeping that well, but haven't been for ages. My loo-going is easing off but I still wake up a lot. Plus I'm getting my DH's cold which is pants. I also regularly have odd twinges and pains, especially if I sneeze or cough but assume that's things stretching.

Thanks Needles for changing my date!

Have a nice Saturday eveyone. x

MrsLister · 18/02/2012 12:30

Happy birthday for yesterday Mrs Miggins

Thanks for all your lovely comments re scan. We've announced it to the world now (well - I have, Dh would have kept it quiet for another 3 months if he had his way!) and getting some lovely messages of congratulations

My MIL and DH's superstition is making me paranoid though. Wish they could just let me celebrate happily without thinking I'm going to jinx things :(
