we're all neorotic littlerach !! it comes with the territory - sorry typing one handr=ed as other one is full of egg custard...mmmm.....

Quackers · 01/03/2004 14:23

I keep waking on my back!! Funny how we do it without knowing!

NorfolkTurkey · 01/03/2004 16:55

I also keep waking up on my back - and then I panic about cutting off the baby's circulation!

I went to a fab place on Saturday. My hospital would not tell me the sex (despite much pleading re my past history) of my baby. This place in Ashford, tells you the sex, gives you a 20 minute scan on DVD (which is set to the music of your choice, and loads of piccies. Well worth every penny!

SpringChicken · 01/03/2004 17:16

Oh T'riffic - what is the problem with sleeping on your back ????

Have been sleeping mainly on my sides but sometimes have to have a stint on my back to stay comfy - thought there was only a problem with laying on your tummy.
Am i just destined to be uncomfortable forever?

littlerach · 01/03/2004 17:50

But does it really hurt the baby, or is it still too small?

NorfolkTurkey · 01/03/2004 19:03

Sorry - I didn't mean to panic anyone! I've read in a number of places that the best side to sleep on was your left side as it's good for the circulation to the placenta and baby. Its not good to sleep on your back all the time as it has the opposite effect. I find this particulary difficult as I'm very comfy on my back.

NorfolkTurkey · 01/03/2004 19:16

Apparently the larger artery from your heart to your umblical cord works best if you lie on your left.

Quackers · 01/03/2004 20:08

Yes I have to have a bit on my back or my hips ache! It cuts off circulation to the placenta, but apparantly you would feel dizzy before this would actually happen - so I heard, don't know what is actually right though!

tomkitty · 01/03/2004 22:02

All 3 of my baby books warn against sleeping or lying on the back. The trainer at the gym is fanatical about it. Yet my dr hasn't even mentioned it and I keep forgetting to ask. I can't help but think that if it were very important he would have mentioned it.

SpringChicken · 04/03/2004 10:38

Thought i would wake this thread up a bit - no-one has posted since Monday!

How is everyone? Anyone had any scans this week?

Work is completely doing my head in at the mo - cannot get the motivation to do half of the things i am meant to - only 68 more days at work til i am off until 2005 - YIPPPEEEEEE

madgirl · 05/03/2004 08:19

hello all
not much to report, getting MASSIVE! trying to be restrained but....;O i have antenatal clinic this pm so 1/2 day at work hooray. 6 weeks today is my last day at work. going to take our pushchair in for a service at w/end - first step to getting ready. hope everyone's ok. mgx

Quackers · 05/03/2004 08:50

I've been trying to add a message from home for 2 days!! I come into work today and it's fine!!

Anyway, I have my anomoly scan today and I'm a bit edgy but looking forward to seeing our baby again!!! Half day for me too today MG, of course it;s going to take a whole after noon to scan me

I got my things from Isabella Oliver. I love the side tie long top, it's something I could easily wear after pgcy as it just wraps and increases with pgcy. So I just kept that. I did get the trousers but sent them back as they were too long and I couldn't justify spending £55 and then pay someone to take them up! So I got bargain of the year from Next! Same trousers but for £16.99 and they fit a treat!!! Really comfy!!

Had a huge contraction last night that made me grimace!! That was it though, just the one! I remember though that it was nothing compared to the ones in full on labour

SpringChicken · 05/03/2004 09:33

Wish i had a half day today - Roll on 4.45 when i can go home

Good luck for your scan today Quacks - i'm sure everything will be fine

Feeling lots of movement now - took me ages to realise that what i thought was wind actually my little buba wriggling around - it's so funny now, when i lay my hands on my belly i get a little kick - DP goes all gooey

Only 18 weeks and 1 day left

littlerach · 05/03/2004 09:59

Have my scan on Mon, excited but worried too.
Good luck for today.
Been finding it hard to sleep recently, can't get comfy.
I seem really pregnant to me, yet no-one seems to realise, maybe they just think I am eating too much!!! A parent at work asked me last week, and admitted she had been trying to work it out for a couple of weeks!! Now quite a few know.
We went to look at buggy boards yesterday, don't feel any wiser for it!!
Anyone used one before???

madgirl · 05/03/2004 10:41

not sure about buggy boards, i need to get one too- ds is 3 on the nose. i also want to get a knock-down price second half double buggy for hills and long walks - do you have any ideas for which one?
GOOD LUCK QUACKS TODAY FOR SCAN, AND LITTLERACH FOR MONDAY

Quackers · 05/03/2004 12:57

Thanks!!! Will let you know!
I'd love a buggy board too! They're a right rip off!!!!!!

Quackers · 07/03/2004 20:36

Hi, really having trouble posting on this thread from home, don;t know why!!

Anyway, all was well as far as she could see. Got to see lots of movement and waves etc... One leg was on it;s knee and the other above it's head! Also baby's head is well down at the moment, so no wonder I constantly need the toilet!!!

Hope you're all ok!! Speak tomorrow!

bossykate · 07/03/2004 20:59

littlerach · 08/03/2004 10:03

Good to hear quackers. Have my scan in 2 hrs!!!!!
AAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Am worried and excited all in one! Have been having more BH recently, also have had some real kicks from baby.

Quackers · 08/03/2004 10:29

good luck littlerach! Come back and post won't you!! I'm getting the odd B/H too, wierd isn't it!!
BK, good to hear from you!!! Hope this sickness ends for you all together soon!!!!!

SpringChicken · 08/03/2004 11:31

Good luck for your scan littlerach And yours on Friday BK.

Glad everything went well quacks - take it you didn't see any bits then ?!?

Got midwife appt. tomorrow - my last one with this midwife - she's leaving in April to go back on the wards. Must remember to ask her about parentcraft classes as i don't know a thing about them, when they start, where they are held etc.

Quackers · 08/03/2004 11:36

Thanks jems! Well I said to DH after I'm sure I saw a 'boys' bits but I really couldn't be sure. I really wouldn't know what to do with a boy! I'm so used to my DD, reading books and playing with dollies! I don't do boistrous! maybe someone with a boy could reassure me!!

M2T · 08/03/2004 12:40

Excellent news Quacks! I'll reassure you about boys..... my ds isn't at all boystrous! He doesn't climb up the kitchen units, we haven't encouraged toy fights, he isn't daring in the slightest! AND he loves cuddling into his Mummy. DH is starting to worry that he's a bit soft, but I know he's just a loving, gentle wee soul.

Littlerach - How did it go then????

littlerach · 08/03/2004 13:30

Everything was fine, except I almost wet myself!!!
Couldn't see a willy!!! So probably a girl!!

Quackers · 08/03/2004 13:47

Thanks M2T!! I have just seen some horific little boys and think my judgement has been clouded a bit!
Great news Littlerach!!! Gosh we're all getting there now!!!! It's going quickly!!!!!
