Hi there. I was just wondering how everyone is - Ghosty, Hilary, Bogwoppit and anybody else who is pregnant after a previous miscarriage. There seems to have been a lot of sad news re pregnancies on mumsnet recently. On the one hand, I feel like I don't want to parade being pregnant in front of those who have had an m/c - on the other hand, we need to show that there are some positive stories out there!
I am 16 weeks tomorrow. Feeling ok, over the nausea I felt from about week 7 to week 12 or 13.

Quackers · 24/03/2004 12:26

Bunny, I know you will have had your scan by now, just to let you know I'm thinking of you. Glad I posted that link for you, it's very useful, so you know what to expect. Hope you can post soon and let us know as we're all rooting for you!!
BTW - the stronger line is SO GOOD!!!!! You were hoping for this as it means your HCG must be rising so far!! Hope you managed to get intitial bloods done too!!

bunny2 - how did it go this morning?

bunny2 · 24/03/2004 23:01

Hi Eyelash and Quacks. Unfortunately there have been local news warnings not to go to Bournemouth Royal today unless an emergency due to Norwark virus outbreak but I went anyway, why me??! Why today??
Anyway I went and they were so lovely in the EPU. They couldnt see a sac yet, I only ovd 12 days ago so it really is early. But, apparently I have a lovely thick uterus lining . They also did bloods and I have to go back Sunday for more and then again on Tuesday. That way they can see if my hcg levels are rising. I am also having another scan in 10 days. In fact I have one in the EPU and one in the Fertility clinic, both in the same week. I want all the reassurance I can get.

I didnt bleed today - first time - hooray!!

Quackers · 24/03/2004 23:39

Bunny that's brilliant!!! I've been logging on loads today, to see how you got on! I'm so glad you got the bloods done! You'll know very quickly now that all is well, as it certainly sounds like it is! As you say, so very early to see anything, so next visit, you might be able to see a sac and maybe a fetal pole! You got a positive very early then!!!! I'm delighted you;re getting the reassurance you deserve so early on!

bunny2 · 24/03/2004 23:46

Quacks, hi there. How is your pregnancy going? Have you started to relax a bit or is is still fraught? And how big's yer bump?

Getting past the 12 wk mark is my next goal, my mcs were both around 10 weeks so the third month of the first trimester will be the most worrying for me.

Quackers · 25/03/2004 00:02

Hi Bunny, I'm really pleased for you. I update my DH and friend everyday on your progress! You must think I'm mad! I just know what you;ve been through and wanted you to get pg as quickly as poss! I'm so happy we now have this thread to chat too!
I am fine thanks! Coming up to 22 weeks now can you beleive! I NEVER thought I would get here and I know it;s a while to go yet but, I'm over half way and getting a good kicking everyday to remind me how lucky I am, even if baby's toes do tickle my bladder all day!!!
The hard bit was getting past the dates I lost them. It was a year on Saturday that I lost the first one at 15 weeks and I shed a few tears. Having the early scans was such an enourmous comfort and then of course I went and bought my doppler for use on fretful days between scan, but only used it once per week after 13 weeks, to minmise the exposure for the poor lamb. I don't use use it now very much as I get the kicks of course. Gosh I am going on and on! I do have a bump of course and it's just risen past my bellybutton, so growing well and proud of it. I will get extra scans though as my DD was tiny and it;s good to know I'll have them!!
Anyway, I'll be catching up with you I'm sure regularly!!
Take care xxx

eyelash · 25/03/2004 00:04

Bunny2 - I was starting to worry you had had bad news. I am so delighted for you - sounds like you were well looked after and they seem to be doing everything they can do. Fingers crossed for the next few days.

bunny2 · 25/03/2004 00:25

Thanks Eyelash My Mum was worried too, she looked after ds and I told her I'd only be an hours tops (what was I thnking? this is the NHS). Anyway, I finally got home over 3 hours later by which time she was convinced I'd been taken to theatre for an emergency operation.

Quacks, you do make me laugh. I am very flattered your dh and friend are interested in my gynacological doings! It is great to have so much support from you, you are a real gem. How fab to be getting all those kicks, I loved that part of being pregnant. I remember a sense of relief at 24 wks when I was pg with ds, as I knew he had a chance of survival outside if things started to go wrong. It was a great milestone to pass, I cant believe you are nearly there!

Quackers · 25/03/2004 01:37

Just a quickie, before bed! Remember about 4 months ago or so, we were on your thread in the m/c section Bunny - now all 3 of us are here and pregnant and hoping for success this time. Just felt a poignent moment there! Or is it hormones !!
Night Night xx

Quackers · 25/03/2004 01:38

BTW, sorry HD, thanks for your reply! Glad you;re well and hoping to hear good news very soon!!

bunny2 · 25/03/2004 13:12

Thanks for that thought Quacks, it does give me hope to hear of all the women here who have gone through mc and are now having healthy pregnancies. I am still scared that my mcs follow a pattern, both being at the same time, so I still feel horribly nervous about it all. I also feel really low and weepy, that must be the hormones. To top it all I've had a row with dh, which is very rare, and it has really p*ssed me off.

bunny2 · 26/03/2004 18:26

Just had my bloods back, my hcg was 218 on Friday and 516 today so that's a good rise. One more blood test on Tuesday.

Bogwoppit · 26/03/2004 20:41

Been offline for a bit so just catching up.

Quackers · 26/03/2004 23:14

BUnny those bloods are great!!!! You're looking good mt friend! Hi eyelash!
Boggy, glad you;re ok and isn't it flying by!!!!! Keep in touch won;t you!!

bunny2 · 26/03/2004 23:49

Wow Boggy, cant believe you are 28 wks! Enjoy the last few weeks!

Thnkas Eyelash and Quacks. Quacks, I know you told me to chuck away my thermometer now but I didnt and my temp dropped below the coverline this morning, it has been bugging me all day. Do you think this is bad news??

Quackers · 27/03/2004 14:30

Got to be quick! Don;t panick , I did have loads of low temps early on and did panick. I didn;t have those good blood tests to prove I ok though - try not to worry! Will be abck later!

eyelash · 28/03/2004 18:52

bunny2 - how were the bloods today?

Quackers · 28/03/2004 23:04

Bunny, you ok?? Did you get the results?

bunny2 · 29/03/2004 01:08

Hi and thanks for asking, yes my bloods were great, doubled again over the last 48 hours so that all looks fine . And I have a scan next Monday in the EPU followed by one on Wednesday at the Fertility clinic so I am excited about those. Can you expose a fetus to too much ultrasound?

How are you two?

Quackers · 29/03/2004 12:05

Hi Bunny, glad all is well!!!

I was looking at this a couple of weeks ago. I saw an independent report about ultrasound. I think you have to weigh up the benefit of peace of mind against the possible risks that have been suggested by this report. When ultrasound was starting to be used they said it shouldn't be used before 12 weeks, but ultrasound machines are more enhanced now and the dose of high frequency sound waves is less than it used to be. Nevertheless, it still is exposed to the sound waves and should only be used where absolutely necessary. If you want me to try and find it I can, if you want the full details. I personally felt that having my 2 early ultrasounds was essential for my own peace of mind and sanity, but I really feel strongly about only having as many as are essential. HTH!!xx

Quackers · 29/03/2004 12:11

Here it is. Just the other side of the coin I suppose. I found it interesting but still wanted my mind put at rest as much as poss!

here

eyelash · 29/03/2004 15:18

bunny2 - Brilliant news. Are you trilled.

I have had 5 scans so far - 3 routinely and 2 because of spotting. So looks like I may have overdone it!

I am 13 weeks tomorrow and can't believe we have gotten this far.

Quackers - hope you can make the Liverpool meet-up.

Quackers · 29/03/2004 17:05

Yes but don;t you feel better for having them! I think the pros outweigh the cons!! Good to have the info to hand though for reference.

I'll try to make the meetup Eyelash!
