Hi there. I was just wondering how everyone is - Ghosty, Hilary, Bogwoppit and anybody else who is pregnant after a previous miscarriage. There seems to have been a lot of sad news re pregnancies on mumsnet recently. On the one hand, I feel like I don't want to parade being pregnant in front of those who have had an m/c - on the other hand, we need to show that there are some positive stories out there!
I am 16 weeks tomorrow. Feeling ok, over the nausea I felt from about week 7 to week 12 or 13.

Good lord! Forgot about this thread!!!!! Colette how are you! Sorry!
Hilary, wow that' has gone quick!! Hope you're doing ok!!! Ghosty is due Fris/Sat??? I believe she's trying some 'methids' of home induction!!!!!

hewlettsdaughter · 02/02/2004 00:56

HI HD!!! long time no speak!!!!! Gosh you're doing well! I'm just over 14 now and growing rapidly!!!! Starting to relax a little more and not panick too much. I can't beeive I'm this far though after thinking we'd lost this one too at 6 weeks! Hopefully Ghosty won't have long now!!!!

hewlettsdaughter · 04/02/2004 15:06

Quackers - 14 weeks, that's great
I found the first trimester seemed to last for ever but it's speeded up since then... We've had an extension built on the house and I had a bit of a health scare before Christmas. All is ok now though - starting to realise that there really is a baby on the way!

Hi, I'm resurrecting this thread so I have somewhere to panic! I have had 2 miscarriages since having ds and am now 4 wks pg and TERRIFIED.

Who else is pg after mc?

Quackers · 22/03/2004 17:21

Ah BUnny, you found the old thread!!! Looks like it's needed again!! All the links I've kept are on my home PC, so I will try and post tonight for you. It's just for reassurance isn't it, it's a tough couple of weeks.

Although you've done the hard bit 'physically', the hard bit mentally is coping with the first few weeks until you get a scan. I know you'll understand when I say that when you have 2 m/c's you just can't believe that it's possible to carry again. I still check my knickers every time I go to the loo! Just before Xmas, (grt timing), I had my bleeding and I thought well that's it, here we go again, another one. Had to endure the time waiting till 7 weeks for a scan but was convinced that was it and I'd be sent over to the 'ward' for referral. But there it was, a heartbeat. I'm so rooting for you Bunny. You know the stats - I'll remind you!
20-25% of women will have a single m/c
5% will have 2 m/c's
1% will have 3 m/c's

There's some good threads on FF for pgcy after m/c too, might be worth a look. Also, Lesley's section on pgcy is very useful in her m/c book. I'm so glad you get lots of scans to reassure you. Take care for now!
Qxx

lazyeye · 22/03/2004 18:59

Bunny - so plsd for you as said in other thread. I'm around 25 wks so past the real scary stg - but I have had 2 m/cs so used this thread a bit at the start. My m/cs were around 6 wks and then 9 wks. I don't think pg is the same after a m/c at all - very scary till you get to a safe time.

Hold on to the hope - we are all rooting for you.
When is the earliest you can get a scan? I got one at around 7 weeks with this pg and they were fine about it.

eyelash · 22/03/2004 20:06

Me too - 4 early miscarriages altogether but also 2 gorgeous dss and now 12 weeks pregnant!

Bunny2 - I was in exactly your shoes 8 weeks ago and have so far had 4 lots of spotting but only scans have reassured me and blood tests to check hcg levels.

hewlettsdaughter · 22/03/2004 22:30

Hi, just wanted to say congrats bunny and eyelash! Although I know it feels weird to hear people say that when you're newly pregnant after an m/c. Bunny, as quackers said, it is hard to cope emotionally in the first few weeks - get through it however you can, look after yourself, we'll be thinking of you...

Thanks everyone, it is lovely to know how much support is here for me.

I spoke to my ob/gyns secretary today and she reassured me the spotting is totally normal and nothing to worry about. She has booked me for a scan 2 weeks today when I'll be 6wks and 1 day. I will be dreading it, I told my Mum I shall need valium before climbing on to the scanning bed. The scan is the day b4 my birthday (I'm an April Fool) so it will either make or break my birthday!

Quackers · 23/03/2004 00:20

Oh Bunny, they sound wonderful! I'm so pleased to hear that you are being treated well!! So 2 weeks to wait. Remember at 6 weeks it's very early to see a heartbeat as I'm sure they'll tell you, so they'll be expecting to see a sac and yolk sac and if it;s very clear, some early echoes. Here's a useful page for you regarding scans. They say allow 7 days either side for these figures!! Is it an internal scan or TAS? Anyway, I know you;re like me and will want to be armed with info, so here it is! xxx

Bunny, 31 March is the day I am finishing work to start my maternity leave. I wish you lots and lots of luck for your scan (and I hope the time until then isn't too nerve-wracking). Remember, this thread is proof that you can successfully carry a baby after m/c!

Quackers, posted to you earlier on the April thread. Hope everything is ok with you.

Hello bunny, and everyone else. Me too . I woke up this morning and felt pregnant. Feeling pleased but nervous and I'm trying not to get excited 'cos I'm scared everything will go wrong. I know this sounds negative, I'm just scared of thinking ahead too much.

bunny2 · 23/03/2004 10:22

Jellycat did you test?????

bunny2 · 23/03/2004 10:26

Just read your other message. I'm thrilled for you.

What is your pg history JC? Mine is
ds born 13/05/00
missed mc 31/10/01 @12wks
missed mc 13/10/03 @12 wks

jellycat · 23/03/2004 10:38

bunny, it is: complete miscarriage Nov. 2000 followed by ds at the end of 2001. So last pg was successful but I'm still terrified (you never get over it I suppose).

I have to disappear off now, rushing around all day then going away this evening for a few days. Will try to pop in later but I'll speak to you next week anyway. Hope we're both still pregnant then!

bunny2 · 23/03/2004 10:56

ok Jellycat, fingers tightly crossed for us both.

sibble · 23/03/2004 10:57

Hi bunny, me too, had m/c last year and bled for first 13-14 weeks of this pregnancy and was convinced was going to lose this one too but am 19 weeks now and have had 4 scans to date. last one earlier this week showed still healthy baby growing. Don't think you really relax until you see them...
Hope everything goes well for you.

jellycat · 23/03/2004 13:10

I forgot to say, m/c was at 11 weeks.

bunny2 · 23/03/2004 22:21

Sibble, that is great to hear. Thank you and goodluck with the second half of your pregnancy.

My lovely gp referred me to the EPU as I have been spotting so I have a scan tomorrow at 8.45 am. Apparently they should be able to see the sac at this stage so confirm it is, so far, a viable pregnancy. Im sh*tting it. I hate scans, the worse two moments of my life both happened when being scanned.

hewlettsdaughter · 23/03/2004 22:37

Ooh, good luck for tomorrow bunny! And sleep well...

OP posts:
bunny2 · 23/03/2004 22:38

sleep??? probably not! But thanks anyway HD.

eyelash · 24/03/2004 08:54

Bunny2 - hope you see this before you go. I could be completely wrong here but I though they couldn't see a sac until 5 weeks so don't be too worried if they don't. Can anybody confirm or otherwise? I had a scan at 5 weeks plus 3 days and you could see the sac and just about the baby so you never know.

Also ask them to check your hcg levels while you are there.

Best of luck - and what a great doctor!

bunny2 · 24/03/2004 10:20

Hi Eye;ash, thanks for that. Quacks did a link for me to a site with scan information. I think it is too early to see anything, I ovulated late so that puts me a few days behind too. Hopefully they will do my hcg while I am there and ask me back next week when I am 5 weeks for another scan. Thanks again.
