Placenta previa - 36 weeks and in hospital!

Hi, it's been suggested that I start a new thread on this!!! Am now 36 weeks preg and been in hospital since 34+4 after first bleed with pp. They aren't apparently massive bleeds by previa standards but still scary!!! First one came in from home via ambulance in middle of night, second was after an ultrasound whilst in hospital and third was the other night again whilst in hospital. Be interested to hear of other peoples experiences on this. It's so frightening isn't it! It's when it first starts to bleed that it's frightening, nit knowing how much. Staff in hospital are being really good, especially when I bleed.

Been told that they want mr to stay in hospital till c section at 39 weeks, however this depends on how much I bleed and how I and baby am. Reason for 39 is the clinical NICE guidelines for paediatrics.

Am so up and down emotionally, one min getting head round it, next crying loads. Have a little girl 4.5 years. Her delivery was fine. Had SPd then and still do have now but having the Bowen technique for that this time, privately with a midwife, and it seems to be helping the Spd a little.,

Any tips on how you coped with your pps. Find it so difficult at times. Thanks for all support xx

Hi everyone,

Sorry i've not had a chance to post, been in hospital all week with pre eclampsia and i've got my section planned for Friday now, YIKES! still got to have a GA as placenta not moved.

Hope everyone is well and will read through the posts when i get the chance (hopefully tonight)

Take care xxx

Coppernoddle · 22/06/2011 19:03

Oh seachelle, gosh what a week!!
But positive, you get to have your baby on Friday!! :)
Are you out of hospital now? Is everything going ok?

deo357 · 22/06/2011 20:14

seachelle - oh no pre-eclampsia - oh yea friday baby will be here, forgot how many weeks u r - hope u r ok - keep us posted

CN- if u r worried about the braxton hicks go to the day unit at hosp & sit on monitor for a while to re-assure u. U r bound to be thinking about everything now the reality that nothing has moved has set in - just remember to keep taking it easy, its always hard when one of our babies r away from home too. Isnt it the hands & knees position to help baby move? try & spend some time each day like that to get baby turned around, not sure if it will work but at least u r trying. u r only 32 weeks so baby should b small enough to move.

xxxx

Coppernoddle · 22/06/2011 21:16

Thanks deo, I'm 33 weeks so yes should move, although on the scan looked very squashed but to be honest, never seen a baby past 20 week scan! Am defo taking it easy, my hubby hired a cleaner so I wouldn't have to do that! I get sooo exhausted due to having addison's disease so have to nap a lot! Will defo do the all fours thing but not when hubby's around! Don't want any unnecessary internals before due date!, Grin

I have so much respect for you deo with 5 children! I'm one of five and my mum never slept for 18 years! And my dad has been a taxi driver for 15!!! You must be a super mum!!
Xxxx

I know you must be bricking it, I'm bricking it too, and Ive got a few weeks yet! Then again, the longer you have to stew on it, the worse your anxiety gets!! Coppernoddle · 23/06/2011 20:19

3 babies in one week!!!!! :)

Two left to go! We've all got stories to tell, am entreaged to find out what ours are going to be deo!

I don't do getting up in the night neither! I love my bed! Even better when I have it to myself! Grin sorry hubby, can't stand the hot breath, sweating beast next to me! I like to think of myself as sleeping beauty, calm, peaceful, tranquil, windy, (did I say that out loud!!) Grin

Cmm, can't wait to hear how your getting on! Hope your getting enough sleep, and teds doing well feeding.

I hope we all keep this thread going, feel like we've all been through a lot together these past two weeks! I want to hear how everyone's getting on and how babies are doing! I'm going to upload a photo onto my profile when baby is born, and hope that we all do it so we can all see these little ones that's caused us so much trouble and see how worth it it's all been! It'll be lovely!

Well deo, then there were two :) tick, tock, tick, tock

deo357 · 23/06/2011 20:36

tick tock tick ha ha

well whatever happens this thread is keeping us distracted !!!

yep have to work out how 2 upload piccys on to here !!!

cmm · 23/06/2011 22:54

Oh my goodness, can't believe all your news. Where to start?
Captain barnacle, so pleased all is relatively ok, I can imagine how scared you would have been. Just showed why they kept me in hosp I guess. Hope things keep getting better and better for you.
Cn - I def had loads of braxton for weeks getting worse as weeks went by,if they are braxton I have been told they won't set off labour or bleeding. However always better to get it checked. Like barnacle, it can so easily be different and I can see now why I was kept in.
Deo / thinking of you tomorrow too!
This thread has been so supportive to us all!
I am ok but have to admit finding it really hard post c section. I can't believe people opt for them! Just so sore and painful but spd doesn't help.
Just sat bf ing little 'ted'. Milk coming in! Breasts are like flashing beacons!!'
Will check thread later. The only reason haven't been on is the pain and exhaustion . Keep falling asleep whilst texting!!!!! Xx

OP posts:
Coppernoddle · 24/06/2011 07:23

Ooh, cmm, sounds like you've got bf nailed!!! Glad your both doing well and totally understand why your not on here 24/7 like I am! In fact, I'm glad your not, would be worried if you were Grin

Captainbarnacle - biggest hugs for you today and very good luck!! Not ling and you'll have you little one very very soon! X x

Cmm, your not selling me the c section!! Any tips on what's best? I heard arnica but the tablets are useless, didn't know whether you could use cream?

Deo, this thread is definitely keeping me distracted, but good distraction, and it's definitely helping me prepare for what could happen!

Well, been having tons of Braxton hicks, went to the toilet at 4 this morning, hubby then got up for work (zzzzzzzzzz) and he came in to tell me there was blood on the tissue I wiped with, but only a tiny bit. And then said, bye, see you later, and went to London!! Love it!! Just keep thinking through a scenario of packing me in an ambulance and still going to work! Hehe! But have had nothing since so will keep an eye on today! Really don't want anything to happen today, I finally booked tickets for me and some friends to go to the cinema tonight to watch bridesmaids. I've not been out in ages! And tomorrow night, it's my friends birthday party! These things always come at the most insignificant times!

deo357 · 24/06/2011 13:48

hi girls,

cmm - having had many sections generally i find the more i move about the mobile i feel. glad your milk has come in so quick too.

CB - wonder if u have had yours yet ?????
SC - how r u & babe doing - have they let u home?
CN - dont worry about the section, honestly, just remember how common they r. How funny is hubby, blood & bye !!!!!! Ive never bothered with the arnica tablets, the pain is similar to the ligament pains u get when preg i think is the best way to discribe them. I feeling like i need to properly wash all baby things & get bags packed just in case, got a nice pile of stuff on the go but maybe should put crib up etc & im only 22 weeks !!! 23 tomorrow !!!! ive just sold my take that ticket 4 the 5th july, sob sob, as they r standing tickets, pp sucks !!! Well im sure robbie will come & visit his love child when im in hospital !!!!!!!

chat later xxxx

Coppernoddle · 24/06/2011 18:05

Evening all! Well,no more blood! Chuffed as I can now go to the cinema with my girly friends! I don't think hubby really thinks that anything is actually going to happen! Even still, very kind of him to be so sympathetic!! He didn't even call me till several hours later to see if I was fine!! Pilluck!!

Deo, I'm guess ing your in love with Robbie then!! Could you not get another ticket? Are they all sold out? What a shame you can't go! Get a wheelchair and they'll put you in some of the best seats, disabled.

Cmm, hope your doing better this evening, as every day passes I'm sure it'll get easier! (having absolutely no idea)

Cb- how's everything going today? How's baby doing? Will you have to stay in there long?

Sc- hope everything went well today! Hope baby's doing fine!
Hopefully your still under the effects of c section drugs and not in too much pain! Did you end up having a GA? Bet your feeling a little groggy too.

Well, tata for now and I've now got to figure out a way to keep myself awake through a film!! Wish me luck!!!

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Emoo · 24/06/2011 20:17

Goodness me, what a lot of exciting news!!

SeaChelle - I hope it went well today and that you are enjoying lots of snuggles and getting some rest.

CaptainBarnacle - what a terrifying thing to happen to you! I'm glad you were able to get help quickly and are safe and sound, and congratulations! I hope that the wee babe in a box has a few less tubes by now - it's a very stressful time. My first was also incubator-bound, and it's a bit of a rollercoaster-ride, so do ask if you have any questions... we had 10 weeks in NICU so I'm a bit of an expert, although it was several years ago and things might have changed now. Sounds a fantastic weight for a 32-weeker, and that will help things enormously.

Coppernoddle and Deo - you are not the only ones left!! I'm still here... 25 weeks and counting. Very pleased to be in the "viable" zone, and finding it quite difficult not knowing if I have 1 week left or 17! Having said that, I've not got anything ready. Will cross that bridge if/when I need to. CN - hope you are still awake at the cinema!

CMM - sounds like you are doing a lovely job with little Ted and the feeding - no wonder you are tired - you are allowed to be!

deo357 · 24/06/2011 20:26

oh hi Emoo - yes u r still with us too !! hope u r doing ok ?

Emoo · 24/06/2011 21:02

I'm doing fine thanks... it feels a bit strange wondering if my placenta is going to be a problem or not... have a scan in 2 weeks to see what's happening. I've not had any bleeding (yet). (Not counting bleeding in early pregnancy that was due to a sub-chorionic haematoma, but I think that's unconnected?).

Your spare ribs and cream cake sounds good. My hubby is at the pub too.. I have had a GU chocolate souffle, which was scrummy. Am not doing too well at the healthy-eating thing!

deo357 · 24/06/2011 21:43

fingers crossed it does move for u - i have a subchronic h too, at my next scan it should have shrunk or gone, if its bigger then thats not good ?

Cream cake was good, i like to console myself on a friday night with something naughty when hubby out !! but i love cake anytime really !!!! GU souffle yum yum !!!

cmm · 25/06/2011 06:25

Dear all just to say haven't forgot you ladies in waiting! Thinking of you,
It's been my last night in hospital! Pain has been a little better as on regular tabs, but boobs are awfully sore and tender and lumpy though, little 'ted' still doing well though.
Going home later today, it has been such such a journey!

OP posts:
Coppernoddle · 25/06/2011 08:36

Yaaaayyyyy!! Your going home today cmm!!! What a whirlwind time for you and now you get to settle down!! Keep going with the feeding and if the lumps get too sore, try expressing to get rid of the old milk, I'm sure you know what your doing!!

Mmmm, ribs and cake deo, it's 8.30am and I fancy that now!!

Emo, yes, three of us! Your roughly the same as deo, and fantastic that you haven't bled yet. Hopefully it's moved for you

I managed to stay awake for the film and didn't get back till midnight!! Shock and bloody he'll I'm paying for it this morning, feel sooooooo tired! But boy, I'm not going to the cinema again until this pregnancy is over, that was the most painful experience ever!! But the film was very very funny!!

Well, it's pancake time!!! Mmmmmm :)

deo357 · 25/06/2011 11:55

enjoy cmm - nice hot bath with flannels for those boobs & try and get ted to completely empty one before u switch ! enjoy your own bed & home again.

I had bad nights sleep keep having terrible dreams about what "may" happen. Feeling nervous about consultant wanting to wait til 3 weeks to deliver baby as everything i have read says 32-35 average 34 weeks (dont forget i have the placent accreta too) i know it will mean babe in nicu but safer for both of us in the long run, im not seeing her til 28 weeks now, thats 5 more weeks :-( got midwife next week though so at least someone can check on me !!! 23 weeks today !! Have a good day all xxx
