thanks all - much better night here. As m/w said it could have been a one off with something I ate, and now that i think about it, I did have curry 2 nights in a row Hmm
Actually the expressing is the opposite for me - I find it WAY easier than feeding and it doesn't hurt a bit probably as the latching on thing is really the painful part and my breast pump is fairly cooperative with the latching Grin I expressed from about a week with ds as well as I had (per M/W orders Hmm)to due to the halting of the let down with the stress I had at the time, and the midwife thinks that if it wasn't the curry with the fussiness it could possibly have been just dd picking up on the fact that I was a little down and sad with my family leaving as it happened right at the same time. She is back on track now and the Lanisoh seems to be doing the trick. I am going to keep expressing as I do it fairly consistantly and it was a big big help with ds as getting him to take the bottle meant I didn't feel the need to stop BF him but at the same time I was free to do things I needed to do (if I had no choice) and he was comfortable from a young age to take a feed from anyone. Worked for me, but that's just me, so gotta do what works for one's self I think.
Anyway, dh has put ds to sleep, dd going to be woken for a feed any minute, and dh now doing diy Smile dw (me) looking forward to a nice glass of cheerfulness tonight and a relaxing bath with Lush and a night of Big brother Hmm Grin (that last one would have ruined most people's evening I know!!)

Great news on the scan Katie!

Rubena · 06/08/2010 11:45

Yay I'm booked for a Brazilian Blow Dry next week (finally now that I'm not preg!)It's not dirty I promise Grin

JumpJockey · 06/08/2010 11:45

hi all, sneaky work post - sorry for not saying earlier but yes scan was on Weds and all looks fine, due date given as 14th Feb Grin I was trying to make a subtle FB annoucement but it seems to have been too subtle! The CyrilandMethodius thing is because they're the other saints on Valentine's day, there's definitely only one baby!

Katie great news about your scan too :)

just wanted to add thoughts to two (v old) topics - dd is still in a grobag, we've moved up to the 18-36 month size which means whe can do a great mermaid waddle around once she's zipped in :) We thought about moving the sizes off her cotbed but she ends up rammed up against the bars a lot so would certainly fall out immediately...

and boob weaning, she seems to have stopped now of her own accord - kind of :( but also nice that they'll get a little break before the next one! She comes in in the morning and signs milk like mad, but when I get one out she shakes her head and runs to the door so she has milk in a cup only now, same at bedtime. She has been having a tiny go before naps, and I kind of hope that carries on since it's my guaranteed way of getting her to sleep, without it there's often a bit of a struggle Blush (should have sorted that little one a bit sooner!)

oh thought you'd all be amused - after the scan we told our respective works, and one of DH's colleagues said "Oh well done, how efficient" Confused!!!

JumpJockey · 06/08/2010 11:47

avo - about the change - that's very funny! DD nicks the coins out of my purse and waves them at the charity box on the mantelpiece, I don't mind with coppers but sometimes she nicks a pound and insists we put it in!

SummerLightning · 06/08/2010 12:00

Hello everyone,
Still here!! however, I am feeling rather shitty today, have stomach ache, but it is stomach ache really rather than period pain type things, and I just threw up. I am hoping it is the start of things happening rather than a stomach upset. Fingers crossed!
jj I actually really like Valentina as a name, maybe it is my hormones. Haha at "how efficient"!

avo I love the change in the gutters story!! DS loves putting things in bins, we call him a little womble. He's actually quite good at only putting in rubbish but sometimes he has been known to find a 1p or a 2p on the floor and put it in the bin!
Sorry to hear about the bad sleepers. DS is sleeping well at the mo, I expect he is saving up nightmare sleeping for when no 2 arrives.

beans wow on the rolling over!!

wg have a good time doing your posh camping.

Hurrah for scan katie!

JollyBear · 06/08/2010 13:03

Hello everyone,

Sorry for the radio silence, I've been lurking on DH's itouch in the evenings but I can't type on that. I must have giant fingers or something!

summer Sounds like things might be kicking off. Sickness can be the start of things for some people. Did you ask about a sweep?

avo How funny about all your change being chucked into the gutters! A nice treat for passers by.

beans Wow, I'm very impressed P can roll over already and even more impressed by her sleeping.

katie and JJ great news on the scans.

Another late contribution to the grobag debate. I always get them from tk maxx. Only 12.99! DD is now in the big ones but she's a giant. She is in some age 2-3 clothes.

Thanks for asking after my job trace, I started on Monday, hence I've been busy all week! Don't feel bad about all the health insurance stuff. They want you to declare any illness at all.

veggie Really good to have you back!

Anyway, some news here. I appear to have joined the re-clackered Smile. Period due today and got a faint line on a test this morn. Hilariously, I conceived on the day of my interview, oops. I'm just crossing my fingers that I don't get hyperemesis again as that would make me highly unpopular with my new employers. Still very early days of course so fingers crossed all round.

spotofcheerfulness · 06/08/2010 13:11

Oh my god, congratulations JB! That's fanastic news. Grin Can't post properly now but back later.

Rubena · 06/08/2010 13:34

Massive Congrats Jolly!!!!!! it's a large club now!! Planned? happy accident? Can't remember, but bloody brilliant, and fingers crossed for the early days x

Avocadoes · 06/08/2010 13:43

OMG! Congratulations Jolly. You dark horse. I don't think we knew you were trying! I really, really hope the sickness is not too bad this time around.

Gosh I think most of our one child families are turning into two now. What will we do next year when there is nobody left to get pregnant???

Summer - throwing-up is a promising sign. I keep meaning to ask at what gestation your labour started last time? I reckon people often pop around the same time.

traceface · 06/08/2010 14:31

wow JB what fantastic news Grin So pleased for you. Will be keeping my fingers crossed for a puke-free time! Are you entitled to mat leave, having only just started your new job?
summer I hope your pukage is a good sign... I was definitely puking as my contractions started. Hope you feel much better soon (and that BabySummer2 arrives very soon!)
About the acupuncture clammy/faint thing - could it have been your position rather than the needles? When I was quite far on with dd2 the GP used me as a demo for some medical students and I fainted a few times just from the pressure on some blood vesels when I was lying down.
Sorry to read about all the bad sleepers. I'm sending some sleepy vibes through the wires now...
Oh veggie you certainly don't sound your perky self Sad I'm sure you've not broken dd2. I guess it's a 'what do you want the outcome to be?' situation. If you really want dh to be able to do bedtimes and to be free of BF overnight, then it will happen and you just need to persevere. Remember Mrs Sleep and the 3 day thing - night 2 was always worse than night 1. I bet he'd soon get used to the idea. But if you're not really that fussed then I'd leave it for now, because it makes it much harder to ignore the crying if you're not 100% certain it's what you want to do.
ladyt glad you got your appointment - am looking forward to hearing the detail. Hope you have a good time away. Take care of yourself.
Urbane hols and car journeys are a sure recipe for bickering in our family. Hope things perk up when you get there and can actually switch off for a while. I'm sure you'll have a fab time.
beans what an incredible rolling baby Grin You sound like you're thriving as a mummy of two - and making a mega picnic too - you will have to be re-named superbeans Grin
Rubs it must be so hard having to say goodbye to your family. I'm so glad dh is proving his worth and that your MIL is so great. You sound like you're doing a fantastic job with your 2 too. I wish I was on FB so I could see your pretty girl!
Hilarious converstion between Lucy and dh this morning:
L - daddy?
dh - yes?
L - was Tracey a child at the same time you were a child? (and yes she said Tracey, not mummy!)
dh - yes, but we didn't know each other then.
L - but were you brother and sister in those days?
??!!! How on earth do their brains work?!

well I need to say bye for a little while - we're off to Wales tomorrow for a week, so will be back after that. Have got my usual pre-holiday anxiety but won't bore you with that...!
And when I get back there'll be a new thread (veggie I love the Lightening Strikes idea!), a new summerbaby, and who knows how many more new clackerations Grin
xxx

TheInvisibleHand · 06/08/2010 14:34

jj - glad the scan went well. I actually have an aunt called Valentine (pronounced in the French style) who goes by Tina, so I have a soft spot for the name. Also have a friend with a 14 Feb birthday - she revels in it as always guaranteed to get lots of valentine/birthday cards!

Avo - the change story is hilarious! We also have bedtime troubles with DD having a really hard time settling to sleep and then complaining she is tired every morning. She seems to have permanent dark circles round her eyes, but we can't seem to persuade her to settle down to sleep any sooner. Let me know if you figure out a magic fix!

WG - have a lovely time in your luxe camping! I agree though, nothing could be quite as luxe as the inca trail experience...I seem to remember someone even came round with a cup of tea in the morning. The area round Corfe Castle is gorgeous though.

LadyT - I'm glad the dietician was of help - would be interested to know more about what she said. Enjoy the frites!

It is my last day at work and have had a slightly boozy lunch with my old secretary and am fit for nothing now. Am v glad to get to the end!

TheInvisibleHand · 06/08/2010 14:35

Cross posted - congratulations JB - fantastic!!

EffiePerine · 06/08/2010 14:52

Congratulations Jolly :)

DeidreBarlow · 06/08/2010 17:16

EffiePerine · 06/08/2010 17:18

Deirdre: have just opened bot of wine to slosh in food. Not too early :). Forget all about work - it's the weekend :).

Hmmm Summer is quiet - do you think she's off?

Rubena · 06/08/2010 17:22

Oh thanks Deids cept she's frowning - I told her she'll get wrinkles! ds is very cute with her.
Perfectly acceptable hour for wine! Infact I shall join u after I feed dd Smile

Rubena · 06/08/2010 17:23

yeah I think SL is off!

SummerLightning · 06/08/2010 17:39

Nope sadly not.

Was sleeping/reading and feeling crap. Midwife been round to do a sweep, she says cervix is soft and that she can stretch it to 1cm-ish but she doesn't seem to think labour is imminent or anything. Boo. Also she felt my stomach, and asked how big DS was. When I said 6lb 10 she laughed and said this one is much bigger! GREAT!

SummerLightning · 06/08/2010 17:40

OOOPsie clicked post before I said big CONGRATULATIONS to our Jolly! How exciting. What a big clacker club we have now.

Veggiemummy · 06/08/2010 19:19

Hooray JB that's wonderful news, oh I love hearing of new clacks! Speaking of which where is Mom?

DB when you posted about it possibly bring too early for wine, I had already sloshes back two Rosé and working my way through a very tasty strawberry Daquari! So my answer is going to be NO on that one.

Had a lovely afternoon at the beach with a bunch of my expat mates. The kids played on the beach slide while we partook of the bars finest brews & vinos then as it was one of the girls birthdays the afternoon took a turn towards cocktails. We've booked in a girls night at another beach bar that apparently does great Mojitos!

Oh & Bisou is also in London when I'm there and is able to meet up possibly on the Friday 26th August. Is anyone else around? Effie you were right the Monday is a bank holiday thanks for the heads up on that one. As it will take us an hour longer to get to the ferry home we've decided to go back on the tuesday night so we have an extra day in London, hooray!

Summer I'm thinking rosebud opening thoughts for you Wink.

Right it's takeaway night so I'm off to consume!

EffiePerine · 06/08/2010 20:34

I'm off work that week so could be a possibility...

DeidreBarlow · 06/08/2010 20:43

Have consumed wine & domino's pizza...feeling sooo much better!

summer fwiw, no midwife I ever saw for both pg's thought that the size of a bump related to baby weight! Come on girl, we need another bubs!!!...Maybe I've had too much wine now....

DH under the weather and gone to bed early, leaving me on my own which means in an hour I'll be singing to a load of 80's 'choons' on my own Grin

Veggiemummy · 06/08/2010 21:00
