Oh I loved Morten Harket, I had I life size poster of him looking very moody on my bedroom wall. Aaahhh if only my 14 year old self had known what my 37 year old self would do to him if he was in my room now!

Night ladies my head is back to normal but poor old DH has a beer headache and has fallen asleep on my lap better get him off to bed.

Hope you have a comfortable night Summer & your tummy settles....& a baby comes out of it.

Enjoy your 80's DB!

JB congrats! :) :)

Morten Harket... ahhh... I had a life-size poster of all three of them and would kiss them all goodnight, covering the other two's eyes obviously, so that when Morten got the longest kiss they wouldn't be jealous. Ahem. And I swore that the only man I'd ever marry was Morten. Oh well, DH...! Wink

Bisou in London - I would totally love to come and meet up but have got a v dull work meeting from 9-11, if you did an afternoon meet I could come too? Pleeeease?!

SL, hope the tum feels better and baby action starts soon!

JamInMyWellies · 07/08/2010 08:28

OOh how exciting congrats JB. Grin

I might be able to do 26th. Although I am very wary of taking both my horrors on my own to London town, but I guess I have to do it at some point.

LadyThompson · 07/08/2010 10:47

Hello girls, I am in seventh heaven. The hotel we arrived at yesterday turns out to be a 5* spa hotel on a beautiful lake, about 8km outside the city so Veg, it would have been hard for me to get into town to see you anyway as DP is tied up today and can't take me in. But I hope to see you when you're over. Treats like this have been thin on the ground in recent months! We had a lovely lunch just outside Brussels yesterday and DD was being v adventurous with her cruising and mysteriously ate quite a bit! Lovely courtyard drink and supper last night...I even slept well. DP seems really happy and it's good to see him so relaxed. So all wonderful. But actually I was just coming on to say HOORAY to JB, that is such lovely news! Busy lot, aren't we? Also to JJ that I too adore the name Valentina but that may very well not be a recommendation Grin Spot, I can't believe you are 20 months - wowzers! Summer, I am thinking of you. The anticipation must be quite tiresome. Hope you had some Duran Duran, DB. I still love 'em to this day. Hope Trace and WG have good hols. Oh, and Rubes, hope you have a weekend with some treats in. When's the blow dry? Tons I've missed but DD has a dirty nappy and the spa menu beckons! Aaaaaaah.

JamInMyWellies · 07/08/2010 10:58

HOw did that happen.

LADY sounds wonderful, enjoy. But am sure its 20wks not 20 months. Grin

Rubena · 07/08/2010 11:25

Vaggie, the 26th is a Thurs not a Fri right? or do you mean the Fri?

Lady - sounds fabulous! Just what you need before the 2nd (no doubt angelic)child arrives Grin When are you back? I have to come in next week to reg dd, and I'm not sure yet how I'm going to go about it. Will either come in with dh and then train back but that leaves complications at the station like you had cept with two! Or I may try and get my GP to sign me off ok to drive (preferable) in which case it would be so much easier, or mil has offered to take us but then I'd not be able to meet up really - having said that I've no idea when you are back anyway! (Oh and I think you meant 20 weeks, not 20 months for Spot? Grin

Summer pay no attention. A friend of mine was told the baby was going to be well over 10 lbs and turned out to be well under 8!!

Trace hope you are having a nice time. I'll have a look to see if I have the old email list and perhaps if you are on it I can email you a piccy of dd?

Bit of a dd clothing dilemma. She is so tiny and I have had a lot of beautiful summer dresses given to her that I just know still won't fit her before the weather gets too cold. Most have tags on but not receipts. Do they let you exchange for sizes that will fit next Summer if that is the case? I think I will call a couple of the stores now.....

I have been on no drugs whatsoever for almost a week now, and my shoulder pain has come back! Confused dh says the Codeine was masking it. it's not as bad as pre preg but it's there, and I also had headaches when the codeine stopped Blush they have sorted themselves out now but need to get this shoulder pain under control so will ask the GP when I try and get a driving pass back!

Rubena · 07/08/2010 11:31

Right have just called a couple and they seem happy to exchange with tags on if no receipt - yippee. Clackers don't rip any tags off till you know you're going to actually dress the baby in them!

Veggiemummy · 07/08/2010 12:20

Oh Lady EXACTLY what you need & deserve.

Yes your right the Friday the 27th. Arvo is better for me but I think Bisou has commitments so will see what she can do.

Pubs the headache could be related to the shoulder pain if it's a muscular thing as those muscles are all a bit connected. I have tight shoulder muscles and when my massage dude works on them I get a headache temporarily.

Right well DS2 may be as eloquent as some but he may have revealed his talents today. I caught him taking DS1's wallet and shoving it up his top. Then when DS2 asked what he was doing he pushed the wallet round to the back of his top!

I can do the 27th! How exciting. A proper meet up with some of our farthest flung girls. Will Bisou have her DS with her veg? Will you have both if yours??

Lady, I am soooo glad you are having a lovely break. Enjoy every minute.

Summer, are you feeling better today? I hope so. Thinking of you.

Quick question for those with knowledge of allergies. DD2 has been alright with every food she has tried. No reactions to anything. Then yesterday I made a pasta sauce with onions, celery, carrots, tomatoes and cheese. All ingrediants she has had before. Mid meal she started grabbing her kneck and whining. I looked up and saw her kneck and chin were covered in tiny hives and red blotches. I gave her piriton and after 20 mins the hives faded. Then this lunchtime we went out for pizza to the same place we go most weeks. She has the pizza she always had: cheese, tomato and chorizo. Again the same rash appeared and she kept grabbing her throat and moaning. Again piriton cleared it. Could DD2 suddenly develop an allergy? Should I take her to the GP? We are flying to the US tomorrow so not great timing.

EffiePerine · 07/08/2010 14:42

Avo: could it be the tomatoes? Or chilli? I'm not sure what the doc cd do in a day.

Veggiemummy · 07/08/2010 16:04

Gosh Avo that's extreme. I'd make sure your health insurance is in order and take a few bottles of piriton with you. As Effie says there isn't much they can do in a day, they will prob refer her to an allergy clinic which won't happen for weeks anyway. Best thing to do is enjoy your trip try (bit hard with cheese & tomato) to avoid those foods then go to the GP when you get back. If it happens again but she starts to wheeze or becomes breathless go straight an A&E. Tomatoes are quite a common thing to have an allergy to, though in many cases they grow out of it. No idea why, it does seem to effect kids often.

I don't think Bisou will have her DS, but I'll have both boys. Should I start a meet up thread?

Rubena · 07/08/2010 20:58

Jam thanks so much for the card - and lovely hand writing I might add!

TheInvisibleHand · 07/08/2010 21:36

Avo - that definitely sounds like an allergic reaction. I have a friend who had similar. Culprit turned out to be onions/garlic in the tomato sauce, quite small quantities could do it. It is entirely possible for allergies like that to develop, but also to disappear later in life (did for my friend). I don't think you would get a diagnosis before you go and actually, all they would advise you to do is avoid the problem food and treat symptoms with piriton. You might also get an epipen as insurance, but we've never had to use ours, everything has always been controllable with piriton.

SummerLightning · 07/08/2010 21:47

Still here!! Think baby is getting even more comfy now. And feeling better so it obviously wasn't the start of anything. Didn't really feel like food poisoning type stomach upset though (not that bad)

Been to nearly new sale in local village today, shame this baby isn't out as if it is a girl I could have got loads of pretty clothes...damn! But got DS a load of toys and clothes, including a massive load of thomas the tank Brio which DH couldn't resist!

I want to come to the meet up!! But I don't think I will be up to making it Sad. I think this baby may have to arrive by c-section if it doesn't get a hurry on.

Avo, hope your DD2 is OK. At least it is clearable with Piriton, I don't know anything about allergies but I agree with Effie that they are unlikely to be able to sort anything with one visit to the docs so I would just go easy on cheese/tomatoes while in America and try and sort it when you are back.

ladyt that spa sounds great, enjoy it. I had a giggle at 20 months too. Thank bloody god we don't have to be pregnant for 20 months, like an elephant.

rubes I am taking the midwives large baby comment with a bit of a pinch of salt. She had measured it as 38cm last week and this week as 42, 6 days later!! Yeah right, I don't think so. It does feel like it's got bigger lately but not that much. Though the big baby comment was through feeling my stomach, not from the measurements. And you seem to have answered your own question, but I think most place will exchange with tags on, especially if they were bought relatively recently.

Oh spot in answer to your question a while back, DS was 1 week late.

Right I am tired so going to think about going to sleep.

LadyThompson · 07/08/2010 21:49

Avo, I reckon it's the tomatoes as they are a common irritant, related to something irritating/poisonous - forget what! And it is possible to develop an allergy to something you've previously eaten with no probs. Have a super trip. Rubes, I'd love to see you but get back Monday night, then off to Midlands, then London Weds for appointments but have to come back on Thurs then lunch in Oxford on Fri with rellies of DH. So next week is out for me though following week pretty blank...sorry about the shoulder, when does your DH think it will fade? Hmm, do we think Summer's in the hossie? Read yesterday that only 5% of babies are born on their due date. Anyway, have been loafing in hotel room whilst DP does the gig he came here to do. He is blowing his entire fee on this hotel for three nights. It is very thoughtful and he is genuinely trying to ensure I have a nice time. It's really kind.

LadyThompson · 07/08/2010 21:55

Crossposted with you, Summer! Sorry. And what's the betting that the midwife is talking rubbish about the size of the babe. Oh, and sorry to Spot about the 20 months. Ha! I feel like I have been clackered for 20 so it's probably Freudian...

LadyThompson · 07/08/2010 22:03

Oh yeah, forgot to say - my heartburn is really fading off the last two or three days. Hmm. Does this mean the babe is sinking down? Already? I still have 7 wks before the section! And a fortnight before next and final scan at 34 wks.

SummerLightning · 07/08/2010 22:08

ladyt my heartburn would fade and then come back, and look at me waiting waiting waiting so I wouldn't worry! It probably is going down a bit, but I wouldn't presume that labour is imminent Grin.

Oh I forgot to say I am looking forward to hearing what the nutritionist has to say about your DD's eating when you are back on internet properly, not just on your phone!

EffiePerine · 07/08/2010 22:11

Lady: second babies drop earlier so prob nothing to worry about.

Summer: how are you doing? Besides being fed up of people asking if you've had the baby yet...

LadyThompson · 07/08/2010 22:21

Oh good. Because looking forward to this baby as I am, and I really am, if she arrived early it would throw our plans for moving into utter disarray - also DP's trials between now and then! Yes, will divulge nutritionist's advice in full, because she came at it from an interesting psychological perspective and also told me some amazing stuff about introducing new foods, such as it can take serving a tiny child a food 20 times for the mere sight of it to become familiar and therefore unthreatening - that's before even smelling and touching, let alone tasting! But yes, will expand when not on phone. Sleep well all.

Rubena · 07/08/2010 22:39

Lord above Lady what a busy week! The following week on the Monday my parents arrive for about 3 weeks, with a brief trip to Spain in the middle. However if you can get over here at all even then it is fine, as long as you could handle someone talking your ear off more than me (my Mum Grin)but I don't think I'll be out dh's work direction, however just thinking abou that now, there was a possibility of dh doing some work in Henley so might end up out there for the day towards the end of the month, but do let me know if you are in this way at all.
Would love to meet up with Vaggie and Bisou. Just have to check how I'm handling the 2 of them by then as that will be during the time my parents are having a brief trip away, so can't offload one and dh will be working too. Depends on the location I suppose!
Summer - hang in there, and if there is a possibility of a (planned) section, it's not all bad - in fact it's very good Wink
is there such a thing as a 2 week growth spurt? dd has not long been breast fed and then 2 hors later downed 3oz of expressed milk as she wouldn't settle Shock My spaniels ears need a break!

Rubena · 08/08/2010 08:41

Oh dear, awful boob pain 100 times worse during let down, but also by itself. Small lump and I think there was a blocked duct as a dried white bit there too (sorry tmi) and have since been in the bath then expressed which seems to have improved it.

Good luck with the flight Avo

Any news Summer?

Rubena · 08/08/2010 08:50

Vaggie are you there?
I don't want milk production to slow, so do I need to feed from both sides each feed right? I hadn't been doing this as I didn't realize (although had sometimes been feeding from one and expressing from the other then swapping sides), but if I want her to feed from both sides each feed, how do I do this if she has such a tiny tummy and therefore doesn't even drain one side in a feed? Should I just be switching her after she gets through half a boob or what? I have also been told by the hospital that all that old fore/hind milk talk is nonsense, so therefore is that what I should do? What's your advice on this?

SummerLightning · 08/08/2010 09:47

Rubes I am sure I was advised to do one fully before starting on the other if they still wanted it. If she's not finishing even one then I would say your milk supply is pretty good though?? Veggie will know better though!
