I have bought some of that Sterimar, Turnip, and some Beconase after speaking to the GP and hope they have some effect. I feel like the phantom of the opera, the whole left side of my face is in agony. I've hardly done a jot of work all day.
Kiwi, did you have another hideously early morning again or are things back to normal (ish)?

KiwiPanda · 02/07/2010 17:41

Spot She was up at 5 but I ignored her to 6 and she wasn't crying, I think she was drifting in and out of sleep with the odd grump. Didn't start shouting until 6, at any rate!

God I was reminsicing (to myself, in my sad and lonely existence ) about the days when she had just started nursery and was so knackered that we sometimes had to WAKE HER UP to get her to nursery on time. I think that only happened about three times but still.

Beans33 · 02/07/2010 18:21

hi all - am marking the page for future attendance.

Hope all are ok. Having a smashing time with littles and DH on paternity leave. He's back to work on Monday and will miss him terribly. He's been amazing, I have to say. Izz deeply in love with him too.

Pru is a little sweetie. But fed continuously for 5 hours last night. But then slept for 5 hours, so not toooooo bad.

Spot - your vendors sound shit - give em hell!

I'm just looking at beckham at Wimbledon. He's so fit. Wish he didn't have to speak.

Off for bathtime now. Big love to all.

x

spotofcheerfulness · 02/07/2010 18:55

DP just said to me "wow, my longest pube looks just like your hair".

This, my friends, is my relationship.

spotofcheerfulness · 02/07/2010 18:59

Ah, Beans I'm glad you've been having a nice time, it's such a bummer about the at least one parent having to work. Why can't we all have private means?
Oh, and it's SL* who's having the vendor nightmare, we're just arseing about.

Veggiemummy · 02/07/2010 19:40

Oh my goodness I've been chuckling away and gasping in horror whilst reading this thread. Pubie, do you mean to say you have no pubes??? Turnip vom in the mouth yuk yuk, the things we do!!! Glad she is feeling better though. Sounds like a sea of vom you had to part. Avo the image of your DD forming a little tunnel with her Girly bits is funny enough but that she was doing it while you were trying to salvage your credit cards makes it quite hilarious. Outnumbered should use it for an episode.

Lady that is so true about stats. Personally I'm a little suspiscious of the CS and CS rupture stats that are bandied about. I think they may be based on US stats which are a bit dodge as they have some quite varied practices which aren't as good as the UK, and in some cases are against WHO guidelines for safety. I hope you get to watch your BB.

Kiwi I'm so excited. I watch half of the game. I went to a friends house & we threw the kids in a paddling pool and drank Pimms as I was too nervous to watch the game and she didn't have a radio. When I'm nervous about a game I prefer listening to the radio commentary and cook muffins. We eat a lot of muffin in during the football season. Anyway obviously we could hear all the cheering from neighbours so finally we put the tele on (cue my boys acting like football hooligans when I announced the score, DS1 went mental and DS2 copied). After the game we cycled home past loads of supporters in the streets in their Oranje. DS1 was adorned of course and was yelling 'hup hup Holland' at them as we rode past. Lots of bell ringing and car honking and those bloody vuvuselas. I really have a good feeling about the Netherlands. A lot of commentators had written them off as they hadn't looked like much early on, but I think they have taken it easy in the group stages so they have loads in the tank for the knock outs.

Prologue for Le Tour tomorrow in Rotterdam hooray, should be fun!

Right gotta go it's takeaway night!!! Whoop whoop! So exciting my life!

Where is everyone? Hope you are all out having a good time. We're off to a party tonight - hurray - but it's in N London and will take us well over an hour to get to. Oh well, should be good fun once we're there.

Trying to book our holiday today. Have not got far yet, but still things available, thankfully.

daisydora1 · 03/07/2010 18:54

Hiya only me...

Not had a proper catch up as yet but just wanted to let you all know I am doing fine. DH and I have had a really good talk about lots of things in the past few days and its all really helped to clear the air. We had our 'night out' last night and we had a really good time. We even had a little boogie together for the first time in forever. Also had a 'little lovin' which was all good too . I think we have really neglected making time for ourselves and each other resulting in my meltdown the other week...just felt at the end of my tether! Anyway, I feel so much better about things right now and am really looking forward to our holiday next week...its just what we all need.

Right off fot tea xx

spotofcheerfulness · 03/07/2010 19:27

Daisy i am really relieved to hear that and so pleased that the night out has helped. I hope the holiday reinforces all the good bits, not that I am or anything, no....!

Have a great party, Sybs.

I am still plagued by my sinuses and looks like DP and I heading for another row but to be honest I am so exhausted I don't think I could deal with it so might just stay in avoidance mode and take myself upstairs with the newspaper. I feel like he goes from 0 to angry in 60 seconds and it really pisses me off. I guess I do too which doesn't help. Grrrr. Anyhoo, back later if anything interesting to report.

waitinggirl · 03/07/2010 19:58

glad to hear that, daisy - you look after yourselves. hope you have a wonderful holiday

spot - you poor thing. i think taking yourself off is a good idea. sit, read, relax - be kind to yourself. the row can always wait if it is necessary.

sybil - thinking of you up here in north london. in my manor. you are welcome!

re: world cup. i am so proud of my german heritage (i have to be, don't i, with the terrible english?). gor bless them jerries! way to go!

ps feeling slightly nauseous nearly all the time now - fingers crossed. scan in 2 weeks.

Veggiemummy · 03/07/2010 20:10

Evening ladies. Have just got back from watching The Tour Prologue in Rotterdam. Was great and even better the boys loved it too! DS2 had no idea what was going on but got caught up in all the enthusiastic cheering & clapping, and was in the backpack carrier which is one of his fav places to be. DS1 got right into it, he had a great spot right at the barrier and so a good view of the riders as they came past. Both boys did really well as it did rain a bit but they weren't fazed. I think it helped that we stopped off at museum nearby that has a great play area. DS1 is all pumped for watching the final day in Paris now.

The only negative of the day was DS2 did a massive poo which breeched the defenses of his nappy and caked his shorts. Of course I didn't take any spare clothes so the whole way home our end of the carriage smelt of poo, even though DH had changed him and tried to remove as much poo as possible. I've washed my hands three times & we've bathed him but I can still smell it.

Daisy I really happy to hear you so happy. Hope things continue to go well.

Spot I think you need to let him know how you feel, otherwise your wasting your life feeling bitter. You used to enjoy his company wouldn't it be worth having a go at enjoying it again. However, maybe not tonight, the paper in bed thing sounds nice.

Have a good night out Sybs. Will you taxi it home or entertain everyone on Londons underground with your drunkeness.

Veggie How fab to see the Prologue - I love the Tour de France. Slightly sullied in recent years of course by all the doping but still.. am very jealous that you got to watch!

WG If i were you I would be REVELLING in German heritage! I am rather chuffed myself as a) I love Germany (both as place and football team and b) I placed two bets on the World Cup, on HOlland and Germany....

Daisy How wonderful to hear you sounding more chipper and that things are looking up, really really pleased for you

Am getting very very excited about DH's return - only tomorrow to get through then he's back first thing Monday - and apparently spent today buying me presents. Good husband.

DD also delightful today, went to meet a friend for a picnic in the park and she was on top form (good, as said friend is PG and a bit nervous!)

Now I am making a very indulgent cake for my friend's birthday party tomorrow. She has a cake-making competition every year, last year I got a bit obsessed and made loads of trial ones and still only came third (I was robbed, your honour! robbed!) but can't be arsed this year - too tired from single-parenting so have resorted to my cake fallback option, Nigella's chocolate birthday cake. Always goes down well. Now I just have to figure out how to decorate it to match the theme of the competition, which is America. Hmmmm. Statue of Liberty outlined in white choc, maybe?

Veggiemummy · 03/07/2010 21:29

She has a cake competition every year for her birthday...the women is clearly a genius!!! She is always guaranteed loads of good cake. Gosh if your cake came third, 2nd & 3rd must have been amazing, or was their possible taste enhancing substances in the cakes, or any evidence of Taste fixing by the judges?

Kiwi I love the Tour. I've seen the final day in Paris once and the prologue & grande depart in London. Also DH & I watch the tour highlights everynight on Eurosport, like an old married couple. I actually sometimes pop the race on during the day if I'm being cheeky, but I don't tell DH whose won. But Kiwi have you heard the big controversy this year. Cancellara is suspected of doing the giro d'italia with a battery powered motor that assisted him in climbed built in to his seat stem. All the bikes have to be checked before riding.

Better go DH is making my cup of tea, talk about an old married couple. We are getting so into our little routines always a cup of tea after dinner.

Oh & LadyT, you asked about spoiling children. I don't think such a thing exists. We definitely indulge our boys. My 4 nieces were spoilt rotten by their parents always the best of everything, and they are the loveliest down to earth girls.

Wow I missed that rumour Veggie! Blimey that really would be taking the piss..

I came second in the cake comp. And stole lots to bring home for DH. Who will be home in approx 16 hours and 10 mins

KiwiPanda · 04/07/2010 20:28

Just me in here? Hmm, shall I run riot while alone on the thread and redecorate/ turn all the furniture upside down

Am very happy. I have just been for a 3.3 mile run, made pesto, now have a large glass of wine in front of me and DH is on a plane home! Hoooooooooooooray!

Veggiemummy · 04/07/2010 20:31

Hello I'm in Groningen (pronounced achshgregajschhher). It's in the North and is quite pretty. We came up with DH as he is working up here for a couple of days and thought we'd check it out.

Nothing exciting really to report about the town but DS2 said his first Dutch word today!! he said 'Dag', which is the shortened greating for Goede Middag or good day. It's the equivalent of our 'Hi'. he even said it complete with the grsch accent on the G!! we were all quite excited.

right well thats all hope you all sleep well

Night night.

Only one more night Kiwi hooray.

spotofcheerfulness · 04/07/2010 23:10

Veg and Kiwi you are funny, I feel like I'm intruding on a private convo!
Just got back from seeing Rufus Wainwright in concert, he was amazing despite crap venue.
Better go to bed now, hope your DH has a lovely homecoming Kiwi, and hooray to baby veggie for his impressive linguistic skills.
Night all.

waitinggirl · 05/07/2010 05:24

it is 5.25am. have been awake since 2.40am. i cannot remember a night when i haven't been awake around this time for at least an hour or so. i'm googling early pregnancy insomnia, but i don't need to go to the loo all the time, don't have restless legs etc. am slightly getting to my wits end. ugh ugh ugh

KiwiPanda · 05/07/2010 06:11

WG you poor thing I hope you got back to sleep. I do remember having something similar in early stages myself, and I wake at least twice a night now but have got a bit better at going back to sleep, though couldn't say how. Only thing I find helps is exercise. Swimming for you, maybe?

Spot lucky lucky you! I love Rufus. Saw him a few years ago in Hammersmith which was an amazing gig. DH and I walked home from it along the river singing at the top of our lungs. Just a little camp..

DH should be home in 3 hours!!!

EffiePerine · 05/07/2010 07:46

Sending super speedy vibes to Kiwi's DH! You've done SO well, I hope you can get a proper break. Well done on the run. I heaved myself on a jog round the block at the weekend, all of 10 mins. It's a start...

Did everyone have a good weekend? We had a lovely time, tho didn't do much. And it was a bit cooler last night, thank goodness!

Beans33 · 05/07/2010 08:25

Yo all. When can I start taking exercise again? DH has gone back to work today. EEK.

Have to say, I'm not sure how I'm going to cope long term! Mum's coming up today for a couple of days and again later in the week. But I think Pru has got reflux. She screams after every feed when I lie her down and vomits up substantial amounts of milk. Plus she poos the whole time and feeds every 2 hours at least. It's really tough as am exhausted the whole time! Think I'm going to call the health visitor/GP today to find out what to do!

WG - so sorry about the insomnia. I'm up with you - just feeding rather than being online!

x

EffiePerine · 05/07/2010 09:05

I'm sorry about the reflux Beans. Spot might be able to help? Have you tried sticking her in a sling to keep her more upright? Also v v handy if you need to do stuff with Whizz.

spotofcheerfulness · 05/07/2010 10:08

Hiya, yup we went down the whole reflux route with T, you have my utmost sympathies if it is that, (well, you have anyway!). We went to the docs who then referred us to the hospital and they then threw the whole medicine cabinet at us. Basically, they tend not to do a test unless it is v severe, their way of diagnosing is to give medicines and then if they respond then they say "yes, it's reflux" and if not, then it's "no, it must be something else but they'll probably grow out of it".
The medicines did make some difference with us (the domperidone and ranitidine but not gaviscon) but to be honest it was time that made a difference. We threw a whole lot of money at the problem, buying special wedges for the cot to keep him upright etc, but nothing made a huge difference, I would go to the GP asap though just to get yourself in the system.

effie, do I remember rightly that your DS2 has an inhaler? If so, how do you get him to take it? I really really struggle with T (he's so strong it's impossible to physically pin him down) and he's wheezy as hell at the moment but no amount of trying it out on us or his teddies first makes a difference. It's a huge game with others, then a huge trauma when it comes to him.

WG, sympathies with the insomnia. I had it at the beginning, and it was nothing to do with weeing either. I think it is just a phase but bloody annoying.

Oh, btw I wanted to share this article with you, a friend sent it to me and I found it very relevant to my situation and actually quite helpful with suggestions as to ways of dealing with issues. here

EffiePerine · 05/07/2010 10:19

Spot: inhalers are a problem. We don 't need to use them too regularly (the boys tend to get wheezy after a cold) so they forget between times. Sometimes trying it whrn they're sleepy works. Could you pounce at night time? Or would he wake up?

KiwiPanda · 05/07/2010 11:28

Beans You can start exercising as soon as you feel ready to! And have the energy, of course!

Poor little Pru, I hope it's not reflux for both your sakes. Though re feeding every 2 hours, Lily did that and I think it's totally within the bounds of normal.
