Hello new thread

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Wow, 39 weeks already MM! Shock

My time alone with X didn´t happen on Fri Sad he kicked up when my Mum arrived as he wanted to go to her house too so we all went and then A got sick in the night and hasn´t stopped yet so again, she has had most of my attention and he has only had it when he is doing something bad! Read him 6 books this morning at 7am though so I think I should get some points for trying to be fair!

Fillybuster · 01/03/2011 19:42

hmmm....opposite problem in a way here, but know what you all mean about getting enough time with each dc on their own. At the moment Tamara is being the cutest/most fun of my 3 by far (Blush I'm sooo glad I can admit that on here, because I probably can't say it anywhere else!) and I'd love to spend more time with her but can't!!!

But Mia definitely gets ignored - I'm doing well if I get 10 minutes focussed time with her at any point in the day.

New thread, anyone?

Having a shitty time atm

H texted me on friday to say he could not call kids as he was going to tescos with his mum Angry

Then today a parcel arrives from Ireland from MIL for DC which had clothes in and I kid you not, a top for DD saying "I have the worlds best daddy" or some such crap Angry Shock

I put it straight in the bin...

I also went to toddler group today and was chatting to a friend of mine whose DS is 10 and heard what senior school he is going to today. Anyway subject went onto DC's doing cooking and I said that when J is 10 I will expect him to cook one meal a wk for him and M ie beans on toast, tinnd soup & toast... (nothing complex)

You would have thought I had announced I beat my DC or something!!! Hmm [angry Shock

Then I said I wanted to put J's name down to start beavers but hoped the uniform was not pricey etc am said I might look on ebay etc...

Another mum said she would never put her child in 2nd hand clothes, as she did not know where they had been Hmm

These people are my friends but today has made me realise we have nothing in common really Sad

MrsMcJnr · 02/03/2011 10:23

Poor you Simpson, talk about too many things to wind you up!! What planet are you friends on? Sorry but in this day and age both of the things you said are not only acceptable but exemplary. In my opinion boys should be brought up to cook and clean, we wouldn´t dream of not teaching any of that to our girls so why not our boys? They´ll thank us for it. Re 2nd hand clothes, not only does it save lots of money but it is so much less wasteful I think to recycle! You go girl :)

Filly - oh dear! If the 3 yr old is the funniest I am in trouble, my 3yr old is not that funny at the mo!! Well, he has his moments.

Off to make the Penguin outfit..

latrucha · 02/03/2011 10:42

I agree with MrsMc entirely, esp about the recycling. My kids are almost entirely in second hand and I always get compliments on how they look, even from my MIL. She always asks me how I find such lovely clothes and says my SIL should dress her boy like Danny and I, knowing second hand is frowned on in Spain, just say I keep my eye out for bargains.

What does your friend think other people have done to clothes? Nits don't like them and washing machines are really jolly good these days, you know Wink

latrucha · 02/03/2011 10:43

Oh Lord MrsMc! How on earth do you make a penguin outfit?

mixedmamameansbusiness · 02/03/2011 12:43

Oh Simps sorry you are having a difficlut time.

TBH we dont really go in for second hand here (although I wouldnt rule it out) but almost every single person I know does and I always feel awkward about having to refuse things people offer me. Having said that though I would not hesitate about second hand for a beavers uniform or something that might set me back a fair bit and have gladly accepted some grobags from a friend as they are so expensive that I would like to make sure baby likes it first. DH is more against it than me to be honest. I also wanted to buy a second hand medela elesctric breast pump the other day (you can buy replacement bits and what are sterilisers for anyway) it said used once and weas coming from an exclusive North London email list so not just randomly advertised and was £20 cheaper than RRP but he said no too.

Hope things look up.

madmouse · 02/03/2011 13:42

Oh Simpson such idiots all of them and wel ldone you for binning that top Angry

Both Nathan and I wear second hand clothes if that so suits. In fact a friend of a friend sticks her ds in expensive designer kit and so much of it that it hardly gets worn. She passes it on to me and there's no way I'm saying no. Washing machine and all that.

Hold your head up high - you are a fab Mum xxxx

What options do we have for new thread titles? It's getting urgent.

MrsMcJnr · 03/03/2011 12:34

Looks like AF is on her way, hey ho no Baby 3 this cycle but it is almost a relief, I have had such bad PMT, I never had that in the past but I have been positively evil the last few days! We are now down to just the morning feed which I am hoping to drop this weekend. I just feel that my body can´t move on until I have finished BFing. I think Aaliyah might sleep better when milk stops being a focus too. Wishful thinking maybe.
Aaliyah weighs 13kgs now too. Amazing isn´t it? She seems to be really catching up with her brother he is 1m tall and weighs 17.7kgs and she is 87cms tall!

I have to apply for Xavier´s school place this month (they start at 3 here) and for Aaliyah´s nursery place next month for September, bureaucratic nightmare!!

LaT ? yup Spanierds just don´t do ¡segunda maño!  Penguin consisted of a bin liner cut to size and decorated with white and orange card, it´ll probably fall apart after 5 mins, he will hardly be like Happy Feet!

MM ? funny isn´t it? I´m fine with 2nd hand clothes for me and the kids but I don´t like the idea of a 2nd hand breast pump but that´s just me!

New thread idea ?I´m 3 and I own the world?

mixedmamameansbusiness · 03/03/2011 12:58

Funny that I had no problem with the breast pump particularly with sterilisers and even the option to buy replacement bit that actually goes on the breast but generally dont look at 2nd hand clothes for anyone really. I have no problem with them so I dont actually know why I dont do it and as Lat said washing machines are here for a reason. I have no logical explanation for my quite odd attitude to it all.
