Hello new thread

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
simpson · 27/01/2011 21:30

The first time I left the slow cooker on and went out I was panicking Blush

But now I am used to it Grin

Roast chicken is fab in the SC and then I pop it into the oven to crisp up for 30mins at the end....

As for a leg of lamb....nom nom nom!!!

Lilyloo · 27/01/2011 21:46

Ooh yum have got a joint of beef to put in at the weekend !
I love birthdays on the weekend they don't seem to go on and on like those in the week where the party follows.

simpson · 27/01/2011 22:18

Let me know how the beef goes, not tried beef yet.

Plan is that M will wake up late on sat (like she usually does at weekend) ie about 9 ish.

Pretty much after breakfast my brother will be here to take us to party which is at 11.30.

She will not get to open any of her pressies till we get back (due to time) so will wait till we get back & that will kill the afternoon timewise iyswim.

Then we are going to my mum's on sunday for more cake & presents etc....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TAMARA AND MARTHA FOR TOMORROW MORNING!!! GrinGrinGrin

Had T's party today straight after nursery.....absolutely shattered now! All I can say is that I will never 'share' a party with another child again if its going to be in my house.....we ended up doing 90% of the setting up, ALL of the clearing up and I did almost all of the food on my own....the other mother swanned in about 1 hour before the party, floated around a bit, told me not to get stressed when random 3 yr olds were destroying my house [grr] and then pissed off (with party bags for her DDs) at the end, leaving me to clear up alone. Thank god my dad stayed on to help....

But it was lovely (although apparently I was radiating stress and massive irritation throughout! [grin[) and T had a great time and is very excited about being 3 tomorrow :)

Oh, and the cake was great (self praise is still worth having!) - will post pics as soon as I can

Enjoy your weekend with M, Simpson, and have fun at McDs tomorrow :) :)

Lilyloo · 28/01/2011 20:34

Filly glad the party went well , agree a shared party should be in a neutral venue . Hope Tamara has nice day tom.

Simps hope Molly has fab day tom and enjoys her party.

Busy as usual with kids at weekend , i am taking L to extra dance class tom , she wants to try irish lessons !! So dp has decided that M should get some 1-1 time instead of ferrying H and L to one or another activity.
He said he would take her to the farm , she doesn't want to go. She wants so see the 'dogs' so they off to the kennels Grin in case i hadn't mentioned she is dog obsessed. She really misses Kim , our old dog so hopefully she will have good day and not bring a dog back !!!!

latrucha · 28/01/2011 21:31

Filly - congratulations on the party

Happy Birthday to M and T for tomorrow. Have splendid days.

Can anyone help me out of yet another FB problem. For someone who never uses it, it certainly gives me trouble. (I even have another problem up my sleeve that I may consult you about one day)

So, my awful brother who I want nothing to do with at least for a decade is my FB 'friend' as is my other brother. I don't use FB ATM because I don't want him to know anything about me. However, I also don't want to 'defriend' him because I don't want the whole issue of our relationship to be broached at all. Is there anyway of hiding my status updates just from him without defriending him?

Perhaps not...

simpson · 28/01/2011 22:10

Filly - glad T enjoyed party but grrrr on the other woman not doing her share

Happy Birthday for tomorrow to Alek, Tamara & Molly Grin

Am panicking about M's party tomorrow as J's school has outbreak of CP so lots of DCs frinds can't come, just hope I have enough kids

LaT - sorry not up on FB settings really. I think if you are friends with someone they can see all, sorry....

simpson · 28/01/2011 22:11

Forgot to say J has a slight stye on his eye Sad

Does anyone know any remedies that might help???

madmouse · 29/01/2011 08:56

Happy birthday Alek, Tamara & Molly x

LaT here goes:

At the top right hand corner find the 'account' button
Click and select 'privacy settings'
Under 'sharing on facebook' is a list of what you share with your friends

At the bottom of that list click on 'customise settings'

It will give a list of 'things I share' including 'posts by me'

Click on the drop down menu to the right of that (it has a little padlock and will probably says 'friends only')

Select 'customise'

Then add his name in 'hide from'

Sounds more complicated than it is!

Happy Birthday T, M and A. Just Nathan left then we are all on our way. I just cannot believe it.

Well we have S 5th bday coming up in Feb, just 2 weeks before due date. Following many many discussions we have said he can invite 4/5 friends to Nandos and we will get a cake and have decided that we are going to get some tickets for Fireman Sam Live at the end of March where we can all go as a family (with new addition) as compensation. He has had 2 school parties recently both in McDs and he has mentioned this but I think we are all a bit fed up with these now and I was going to invite said few friends round to ours but then realised it would be way too much hassle for 5 boys plus my 2 and I dont think I will be able to deal with it. To be fair he also gets a cake with my family and one with DH's lot.

madmouse · 29/01/2011 13:56

Oh wow I keep forgetting Nathan is the baby of the lot - only 3 more sleeps though.

He's having a quiet birthday. He's getting an ELC keyboard and a new bath toy, and we will get a big trampoline when the weather improves.

We have some friends coming during the day and some for dinner as mum and dad both work on Tuesdays and they are some of Nathan's favourite people.

I'm baking a cake and have bought a sugarcraft thomas the tank engine picture to go on it.

AngeChica · 29/01/2011 19:39

Happy birthday to the 29 Jan crew! :)
A has had a lovely day, my parents are here - party this morning and getting thoroghly muddy this afternoon.

simpson · 29/01/2011 19:50

Glad A had a good day Grin

M's party was a huge success (but hard work!!) and although I was worried as we had quite a few cancellations (due to chicken pox) there were enough kids

Having a well deserved glass of wine Smile

This time 3yrs ago I was just being discharged from hosp....

madmouse · 29/01/2011 20:10

Nathan has just done a weewee in the potty on his third day of sitting on it once a day!

Grin

eeek

simpson · 29/01/2011 20:13

wow, well done Nathan Grin Grin

That is brilliant

madmouse · 29/01/2011 20:17

started a thread in _chat as I have no clue what happens next

latrucha · 29/01/2011 21:58

Well done NAthan and Happy Birthdya for a couple of days' time. I'm saying it now because we're off to Spain on Monday so may not be on for a while.

Thanks for the FB instruction Madmouse. Will get it sorted when I come back.

latrucha · 29/01/2011 22:02

sorry for typos

Has anyone got a kidsleep clock - and can anyone tell me why they're so damn expensive? (Well, yes I know because parents are desperate, but is there any technical componentthat would make them expensive? I'm thinking of rigging up one of those timer lights you get for when you're away)

latrucha · 29/01/2011 22:02

Oh, and wish me luck with the in-laws this time round!

simpson · 30/01/2011 20:51

Good luck LaT Smile

M was totally knackered today after yesterday so lots of tantrums etc

My dad bought M a giant easel for her birthdsy which she loves but I have nowhere to put it Hmm

My mum bought a few things for M and one of them was a reward for good behaviour chart Grin I wonder if it will work Hmm

gingeme · 31/01/2011 10:25

Well done Nathan you clever chap x
Happy Borthday to all I've missed.
I have a 4 year old off nursery today. He's full of cold and snot and didn't sleep very well last night so he'll be going for a sleep when George does this afternoon.
The joys of mother hood eh ?

AngeChica · 31/01/2011 20:07

happy birthday for tomorrow Nathan x

Fillybuster · 31/01/2011 20:14

Happy birthday for tomorrow Nathan :) :) :)

Madmouse - I have to say, I can't believe it is nearly 3 years since I sat in bed reading your birth story with dh, with tears streaming down both our faces. You & Nathan have both come so amazingly far in that time, and climbed so many mountains, and stayed so positive - and not only that, but have continued to provide support and love to your friends and family throughout that time, even when you most needed it yourself - you really are the most amazing person, and a total inspiration, daily. Sending you massive hugs and a huge amount of love on this very special day xxx

JustKeepSwimming · 31/01/2011 20:30

Ditto :)

(couldn't put it better myself!)
