JustKeepSwimming · 05/06/2010 17:23

Yey new thread.
Hi all. Just got in from a lauao (sp) my friends lo was 3 and she did the party in a Haiwian style. Was very nice till the rain came crashing down still didn'e deter the kids

gingeme · 06/06/2010 17:03

Ladies don't want to worry you but it's meant to be showery on Tues. Do we have a plan B or are we going to risk it for a biscuit ?

fillybuster · 07/06/2010 11:08

Phew! Well done on new thread

gingeme · 07/06/2010 13:02

Anyone ?

JustKeepSwimming · 07/06/2010 14:35

I know G, have been watching all the forecasts hoping it would change.
There is meant to be a cafe there, though i don't remember seeing it before.
So we could shelter in there every shower? BBC says Heavy showers

Or all meet later, just for lunch, say Nandos, or somewhere else close by?

I'm open to any plan but H is easier than some and will sit on my lap with his blanket for long stretches of time still.

simpson · 07/06/2010 15:31

I will go with majority too

Will bring food for M anyway just incase there is nothing there she can eat...

I will drop j off at school in the morning and then come home, make packed lunch for M then set off so will probably get there around 11ish too.

simpson · 07/06/2010 16:05

would like to check out Coram's fields though (weather permitting) as just looked at the website and it looks fab

gingeme · 07/06/2010 16:52

No I don't remember seeing a cafe either. Well meet for 11 then and see what the weather decides how's that sound ? Who else is coming?
Mind you George woke from his nap at 2 and was promptly sick so if anything happens through the night we might have to give it a miss. Though he had polished off a packet of Skips then helped himself to a pack of Pombears and ate them too !!
Who else is joining us ?

LaTrucha · 07/06/2010 18:11

Hi guys - enjoy yourselves tomorrow! There used to be a cafe in the bottom of the Waterstones in Gower Street. It's not perfect but just round the corner, should you need somewhere to make a mad dash to. British Museum also not far but further IIRC.

Only late pregnancy mopans and impatience here, so I won't bore you.

Oh yes, and a VERY naughty toddler! She is doing all the things she is not allowed to do in swift succession about twice a day. I take it in a positive way, as at least it proves she know what she's not supposed to do. I think I'm going to have to really up the praise as telling off is not working (and why would it, when she knows perfectly she's not to do these things and still wants to)

Lilyloo · 07/06/2010 18:43

Hey all hope you all have good day tom

Like the new thread title !

Busy here , have been camping for last two weekends and started new job today. Went well and M will love it when she starts in Sept.

Hope everyone else well , i just don't seem to find the time to get on here am so busy.

fillybuster · 07/06/2010 20:09

I'm still planning to come tomorrow although I may be slightly later than 11....JKS - will you please text me if you end up leaving Coram Fields before I arrive?!

And can someone please give me directions to coram fields?!

I'm with LaT on the grumpy late-pg stage of things and the really naughty toddler - T is seriously pushing her boundaries at the moment with pretty much everything but is incredibly hard to tell off as she just laughs when we try....grrr!!!

LaTrucha · 07/06/2010 20:20

As I remember, Filly, you just walk out of Russell Square tube down away from Tottenham Court Road. But I haven't been in ages, so don't trust me! If no one else replies, just ask at Russell Square. It's really close.

We've had that 'I'm naughty' smile too. For us, it's just no good telling her off when she's obviously showing us she knows what not to do. I'll have to get my head around this toddler way of doing things and circumvent it somehow. On her 'big' telling off today (for finger painting a wall while sitting at the table while my back was turned one minute - normally she can be trusted, mainly because she hates mess) she was actually quite scared. Then when I asked her afterwards she said she was naughty because it was fun. She was crying at the time ! But she clearly didn't get the message.

fillybuster · 07/06/2010 20:26

I have to say, I find it much harder telling off DD than DS....mainly because she just doesn't take us seriously...! But we are (slowly) getting there, and I do find the 'time out in the corner' thing helps a lot. Sigh...!

Thanks for the directions...will check it out online now

JustKeepSwimming · 07/06/2010 20:33

Will do Filly (have to check i have your number though - just have done, yes i do).
It is very close but hard to describe.
I only know of one gate on Guilford Street.

So come out of station, turn right onto Bernard Street
straight along to corner, road turns right becomes Lansdowne Terrace, follow road around corner, then turn left onto Guilford St, you are walking past the railings of Corams Fields, go along until you see the gate.

Am just checking the map to see if i might walk anywhere to do some shopping or just get a cab, can't decide. Guess if it's peeing down it makes it easier!

LaTrucha · 07/06/2010 20:36

Sabela does take me seriously and hates being punished. Plus, our 'big' punishment (time out in her room alone) does work.

I am firmly of the belief that toddlers have to be nuaghty. It's apart of their development. It's not the nicest bit of it when you have to 'hold the line' twenty times a day, though is it?

I asked her today, 'Do you want to make mummy cross?' and she nodded. Well, you get what you wish for Sabela, darlin'.

fillybuster · 07/06/2010 20:37

Thanks - ridiculously I know exactly how to drive there, but have no idea how to get there on public transport! I'm probably going to arrive around 12 and am free until my 3pm coffee at the British Library - what time is H's appointment at GOSH?

fillybuster · 07/06/2010 20:39

Hah, LaT, wait until you have #2! DS really hates being in trouble, even when he knows he's been naughty and has been warned in advance, but DD is just generally less bothered by what we all think She doesn't like being told off, and will cry/apologise properly if necessary but is just less....concerned, or eager to please, or something. I suspect its a 2nd child thing - what do the others think? Gingeme, what do you reckon!?!

LaTrucha · 07/06/2010 20:41

BTW - had a great piece of success with Sabela's hitting and biting of dh. You know how the advice is to ignore the behaviour you don't like? We did try that but it didn't work. BUT the last time she did it, DH walked out, came back in a couple of minutes later and completely ignored her and she hasn't done it since!

simpson · 07/06/2010 21:06

Hi all

Am hoping to see some of you tomorrow

Filly - think H's appt is at 2.

Had shopping trip today with both Dcs as they need summer clothes so blame me now if weather changes as I have put a curse on it

H&M have got a fantastic sale on for those of you with little girls...Summer dresses for £2.99

Although M insisted on the age 2-4yrs ones as they are a bit long as she likes to swish them round her ankes

Those of us meeting tom will see what I mean as she has already picked out her outfit for tomorrow

J got a pair of Ben10 shorts which were not in the sale and a pair of crocs.

Hope weather nice tom.

What are people doing re lunch? Bringing food or finding somewhere there?

gingeme · 07/06/2010 21:37

Simpson we will find something there. If no cafe as JKS said there is a Nandos not far away
Filly yes your right . Plus when I tell DS3 off I hope the other two get some hint that this will happen to them if they are naughty iyswim? I try to tell George off but he jst smiles and laughs at me and there is no hope of putting him in the naughty corner.
Good luck LAT . You do realise she so knows your pregnant too and less able so she is realy pushing you? I'm sure you have worked that one out for yourself though right?
I just hope we miss the showers tomorrow
Nicky ?

JustKeepSwimming · 07/06/2010 21:40

Yes we are due in GOSH at 2 - though as the snotty secretary pointed out to me at length, the clinic is overbooked and we will have to wait ....

Was planning on bringing supplies anyway for H as he can be a fussy eater/only eats what he knows, but can easily go to places too, for my benefit! Was hoping for a nice picnic in the shade.....

Thinking i might get tube from West Ham to Kings X and maybe mooch at the shops there, then walk down, otherwise get taxi to Brunswick Square (where the Nandos is) and spend money browse there, depends if i get my planned train so i have time to spare or not.
