Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Happy birthday charlie and Xavier Smile

I have been put on the 'sad face' chart my Martha for shouting at her Hmm

We def finished our family here but not really looked into any long term contraception yet. I find 3 more than enough for my energy levels!!

simpson · 24/01/2011 15:39

Can I have a little boast??

DS got an award at school today for getting the most house points a child has ever got in one week Grin Grin

simpson · 24/01/2011 15:44

Also 3 seperate people stopped/commented on the way back from school run today (we walk) on how much M talks Hmm Grin

She was twittering on about a leaf and wanting to take it to bed with her or something Hmm

gingeme · 24/01/2011 17:49

That's definately worth a boast Simpson. Well done M xx

mixedmamameansbusiness · 24/01/2011 19:15

Well done J and M.

I need a little boast too. S had his first parents evening today and the teacher showed me what they expec children to have achieved by the time they leave reception, and S has already achieved almost all of them. Very very pleased and chuffed.

Flip side is he is being a nightmare at home. Currently having a massive tantrum as he wants to stay up for his dad to come home but he is working late and he is kicking the walls and all sorts.... he has NEVER ever been this kind of child. Normally so placid. He also cried for ages this morning saying he didnt want to go to school. I am wondering if something is going on. He said E spends more time with DH than he does, so I suggested that DH would pick him up from school tomorrow and take him for an ice cream just the two of them but he said he wanted me and E as well.

Yesterday he didnt want to go to my ILs and cried to stay with me saying he would miss me.

Any ideas???

simpson · 24/01/2011 20:36

Do you think it could all be down to tiredness??

J did not really settle down until Easter time in reception and before then he used to come home every eve and just scream/sob etc...

He wanted everything & nothing iyswim Hmm

Well done on S doing so well Grin

My grandmother has taken a turn for the worse and is in hospital tonight Sad

Her carer went in at 7.30 this morning as usual to help her get up out of bed & downstairs etc to find the house empty Shock

The police were called and she was tracked down to the local hospital as she had been brought in after wondering the streets confused Sad

My mum is going to look at a care home for her tomorrow but tbh I think she has got a real battle on her hands persuading my grandmother to go into one Sad Sad

Lilyloo · 24/01/2011 21:26

Oh Simps fab news on the kids , you must feel doubly proud when it is all down to you Smile Sorry to hear about your gran though. It is such a difficult decision when they fight you your mum will need a lot of support to make this decision i guess with or without your grans permission Sad

Mixedm seems he feeling a little insecure. Good idea on more daddy time , i think they get so tired now. The novelty has worn off and they are moving on from littlies to school children.y1 is so much easier. Lot's of reassurance for now.

Fillybuster · 25/01/2011 15:28

Well done all the 'bigger' children - especially J....Simpson, I am very impressed :)

Sooooooo not ready for Ts birthday party on Friday. I thought a butterfly cake would be nice and simple after the last few complicated affairs but its still causing me stress. DH is once again threatening divorce over my birthday cake antics...

JustKeepSwimming · 25/01/2011 15:40

Well done J especially :)
Simps - i had forgotten is he still reception, same year as T, is that right? did he settle really quickly?
I ask as T says nothing positive about school, says he hates it etc. when we arrive though he runs in quite happily, not bothered about saying bye or anything, and they haven't said that he's unhappy, but i can't help but worry.
How will I be when H is heading off on the school bus to his special school....? Hmm

Filly - i totally cheated for H's cake, bought 24 little fairy cakes, iced them and put some sprinkles on, used my (very cheap from Factory Shop) cake stand and stuck 3 candles in the top one :) And took some Kipling Country Slices for H as that's the only cake he likes Grin
Looked impressive, tasted yum, and took about 5mins!

simpson · 25/01/2011 18:27

JKS - J is in yr1 Smile and it took him ages to settle in properly, not till about easter I think...

He always really liked school and wanted to go etc but his parents eve this time last yr said he was behind etc Sad and now fast forward to this yr and he is in the top groups for everything

M's birthday cake, I have cheated and got Mcdonalds to do it Blush

That is where M wanted her party and tbh its the only thing she can eat with no problems Hmm

Although she won't be able to eat any of the cake but I have bought her a "special" one just for her Grin

Gingme - not had a chance to ask my mother re picking J up for when we have meet up as she has had to dash to see my grandmother but I will pin her down Grin

simpson · 25/01/2011 19:47

just spoken to my mother who says my grandmother has perked up no end and is adamant she wants to go home and not into a care home Hmm

I think my mother has a real battle on her hands Sad

J announced this eve he is supposed to be taking an old fashioned toy into school tomorrow as they are learning about toys from olden times.

He has decided to take a set of finger puppets in, do you think this will do??

simpson · 25/01/2011 19:52

Forgot to say M got a birthday card today from her toddler group and insisted on taking it to bed with her Shock

She said "Today I am little but on saturday I will be big!!" Bless!!

Fillybuster · 25/01/2011 21:02

Finger puppets sound like a good idea, Simpson. I can't believe our girls are going to be 3 on Saturday....Shock Although Tamara also seems to be going on 17 at the moment...Hmm

JKS - great idea, but I just can't do it. You know me and baking - birthday cakes are kind of the ultimate expression of that. But I also always feel that somehow this is how my 'mummyness' will be judged (bollocks of course as no one else will give a rats arse) so I pour stupid amounts of effort in and am never particularly happy with the result....sigh....

I should know better by now, shouldn't I?! Grin

Right, dh is still at work, dinner is spoiling keeping warm in the oven for us, I'm off to have a hot bath and lots of wine.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 26/01/2011 09:44

I am sure the cake will be brilliant Filly - stop worrying.

Simps - sorry to hear about your gran but hopefully things will improve. My gran was in hosp for the whole of last year and has been home for the past 3-4 months and although everyone was sure she would never reocver etc she is back to her old self with the help of daily carers etc but is at home tellign everyone off.

Thanks for the advice re: S - the thing is he had no problems last term so not sure tiredness is necessarily it, but will keep a very close eye. I asked him what was wrong and he said he doesnt know he just misses us.

Apparently at 34 weeks I am measuring 37 weeks so another scan coming through for me.

Fillybuster · 26/01/2011 15:23

Let us know how the scan goes, MM....hang on, isn't this the same baby that the radiographer rudely told you was small early on???!

Gingeme - I think I missed the meetup decision....can you fill me in please, once you finish gardening?! I'm always up for pizza :) :)

gingeme · 27/01/2011 12:33

Filly the meet up is at the Pizza Hut on the A10 near the Cineworld cinema. 12 midday. Are you coming? I think they are still doing the lunch buffet thing.
George is full of cold today. Quite funny asking him to blow when blowing his nose and he still blows with his mouth !
Edward is still loving his nursery thank goodness.
Looking forward to hearing about the scan MM.
Barristermum have you gone again ? X

Fillybuster · 27/01/2011 12:41

Gingeme - I have absolutely no idea where that is -can you post a link please? Although it will depend on what day....most days I have to collect T from nursery at 12.10 so probably wouldn't arrive until 1ish, and weekends are a write off at the moment....

mixedmamameansbusiness · 27/01/2011 12:45

hahah - filly yes this is the same baby that was small according to sonographer no. 2.

gingeme · 27/01/2011 12:58

Erm link Erm I'll see if Dh can do it for me when he wakes up.
How did it go MM ?

latrucha · 27/01/2011 19:53

Hi guys.
Two tiny things to offload to you as DH not here (in Spain). What do you reckon ?

  1. I rang my GP to get DS's NHS number, very doubtful that they would give it to me. The receptionist simply said, 'What's his name?' and gave it to me. Does anyone else think this is a bit lax? Hmm

  2. Good friend came round after daughter had been at playgroup, proffering homemade biscuits. Later she told me a nasty v+d bug was going round playgroup and she had considered not sending dd today. Then, just as all of us including Daniel had tucked into said biscuits told me that her dd had made them at playgroup!

Hrumph is all I can say.

Hope all is well with you today.

simpson · 27/01/2011 20:44

H is going to ring tomorrow to speak to kids as normal and I have to tell him that my mum has agreed that he come over in the Easter holidays for 2 nights.

The plan is that he can come on a friday and stay till sunday (without his mother) and stay sober.

The reason he has to go back on a sunday is so that my mum can drive him to airport to make sure he gets on a plane after last times fuck up Angry

Lilyloo · 27/01/2011 21:19

Hey all good luck with the birthday cake making !

Simps sorry to hear exH is still being the same . Not sure about last visit but sounds painful. Great news about kids though , they seem to be doing fab. When is M party ?

Mixedm by bf just had her very large , extra scans baby just over 8lb at birth Hmm

LaT not sure about the NHS number don't think i have ever used mine so not sure how sensitive info it is. Not good idea to be proffering biscuits though !!

Just bought a slow cooker this week , tis fab. Have done a beef bourginion and a sausage casserole in it this week. The answer to me being out after school at various activities and arriving home with starving kids at tea time.
Other than that same old same old , manic manic!

Hope you all ok x

latrucha · 27/01/2011 21:19

You are very good Simpson.

simpson · 27/01/2011 21:24

lilyloo - I love my slow cooker too Grin Its fab for when I am feeling lazy and then I can just bung everything in Blush

LaT - hope you don't all come down with D&V now

M's party is on sat morning (at mcdonalds) Think I am ready, I wrapped her pressies today except her wooden dolls house is too heavy for one person to get down from attic so she may have to wait for that Grin

Only thing left to do before party is the party bags.

latrucha · 27/01/2011 21:29

Everyone I know raves about slow cookers. I'm sure DH wouldn't approve though as he has a phobia of fires. He doesn't like it if the washing machine is on and we go out. Personally, if the house is going to burn down, I'd rather we weren't in it.
